Terrifying video shows motorist on knees with hands up as masked robbers who crashed into his luxury car on LA freeway ransack wrecked vehicle, make getaway

A terrifying pair of videos show a motorist on his knees with his hands up as masked robbers who crashed into his luxury car on a Los Angeles freeway Tuesday ransacked the wrecked vehicle and then made a getaway.

What are the details?

The incident occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 10 in south Los Angeles and is being investigated as a vehicular assault with robbery, KABC-TV reported, citing a California Highway Patrol spokesperson.

Police told the station the driver of a black Dodge Caravan "intentionally crashed" into a black Alfa Romeo sedan on the eastbound 10 Freeway near Arlington Avenue.

A driver or passenger in a passing vehicle recorded video that shows at least four masked individuals wearing dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts exiting a minivan and running toward a wrecked, smoking car on the right shoulder, KABC said.

The driver of the wrecked car is seen kneeling with both hands in the air, the station said, adding that robbers appear to ransack the victim's car.

KABC said another man standing nearby appeared to record the crime on his cell phone as well. The following appears to be that video:

KABC spoke to the man who stood nearby and appeared to record the crime on video; he didn't want to show his face on camera.

"It seems like they knew what he had in his car..." the witness told the station. "I felt really bad for him. I thought it was over for him, but he did the right thing. He put his hands up, let them take what they took, and that's the safest way he could've done it."

The second clip shows the wreck up close — along with the plate of the getaway car:

The witness told KABC it seemed like something out of a Hollywood movie but added that "it was as real as it gets. Because that's how it is in Los Angeles."

Anything else?

Police told the station the suspects, who were armed with a hammer and crowbar, fled in a white Chevrolet Malibu and were last seen eastbound on Interstate 10; they remain at large.

No injuries were reported, police told KABC, adding that a Ford Mustang also was struck during the incident.

The station added that it's not known at this point in the investigation what was stolen or if there's a connection between the suspects and the victim.

Horrific video: Man beaten to bloody pulp by masked thugs angry he confronted their dangerous intersection takeover

A man was brutally beaten in an attack recorded on video after he confronted a carload of masked thugs for their dangerous intersection takeover in Oakland, California, over the weekend.

So-called "sideshows" involve drivers peeling out and racing in circles within street intersections while crowds form around the drivers, while everyday motorists are forced to wait. The lawless gatherings have resulted in injuries and deaths.

What happened?

Video shows the beatdown victim during Sunday's sideshow throwing a bucket at one of the cars involved — and as you might expect, the occupants got out and attacked the man:

A separate video shows the full brutal attack as the man is knocked to the sidewalk and repeatedly punched and kicked as a surrounding crowd howls like it's a movie — and, of course, they turn it into one after pulling out their cell phones and recording it.

No one helps the motionless man as blood drips down his cheeks. The viciousness wasn't enough, though: One of the attackers pulls the victim to his knees and kicks him twice in the buttocks.

Of course, the sideshow intersection takeover continued.

Soon someone yells at the victim, "You got knocked the f*** out!" — and apparently the bucket he originally threw at the car is placed over his head.

Here's the video of the beatdown. Content warning: Readers may find the attack disturbing; profanity and racial slurs are uttered as well:

What else?

According to KTVU-TV, the attack took place at 34th and Adeline Streets, and the victim's condition could not be confirmed Monday. The station added that Oakland police indicated they are aware of the attack and added that there were numerous sideshows across the city Sunday — which resulted in one arrest, a recovered gun, and a pair of towed cars.

Another sideshow video at the 34th and Adeline intersection shows a skidding red Mustang hitting at least two onlookers as well as fire hydrant, after which water shoots into the air.

Oakland City Councilmember Noel Gallo, who has been trying to crack down on sideshows for years, told KTVU that people shouldn't try to stop the sideshows: "Please do not, you know, interfere. Let the police officers respond to that."

Well, a police vehicle at a different Oakland intersection was recorded on video not dealing with the sideshow participants but instead carefully navigating around them and then leaving the intersection. KTVU said the intersection in question is 42nd Avenue and International Boulevard:

A woman who recorded the video of the separate sideshow spoke glowingly about what was described as a "cultural Bay Area phenomenon."

"You know, after the fact, you're like, 'Oh my God. I saw this. This is great. This is Oakland." She added, however, that innocent bystanders do pay a price for it.

Anything else?

Police also told KTVU they are investigating an assault against a driver during Sunday's International Boulevard and 42nd Avenue sideshow.

Councilmember Gallo added to the station that "we're not trying to criminalize, we're trying to protect the residents of Oakland. We're just trying to enforce the laws that we have and make it not only safe for the community, but also safe for the individuals that are involved in the sideshow."

Oh, and an April 23 sideshow on the Bay Bridge brought traffic from Oakland to San Francisco to a standstill as about 100 motorcyclists popped wheelies and did donuts across all bridge lanes, KTVU said.

Masked robbers face no resistance, easily steal $35,000 in products from crowded Apple Store. One crook reportedly threatened violence against anyone trying to stop them.

A pair of masked, hooded robbers pulled off a cakewalk of a caper on Black Friday, facing zero resistance as they easily stole $35,000 in products from a crowded Apple Store in Palo Alto, California.

Not that witnesses would have behaved any differently — since most folks seem to accept such lawlessness happening right in front of them these days — but one of the crooks reportedly threatened violence against anyone in the store who tried to stop them.

What are the details?

Police told PaloAltoOnline the crime — captured on video — took place at 340 University Ave. at 4:17 p.m.

Video shows the pair quickly circulating among a large number of customers and staff and ripping multiple iPhones and laptops from their security cords at display tables, the outlet said, adding that Apple employees are seen pulling customers clear of the crooks.

One person can be heard on the clip asking, "Should we stop them?" and another individual quietly and calmly replies, "Let them go."

The outlet added that a store employee heard one of the crooks make a general statement to the crowd of shoppers threatening physical violence against anyone who might try to stop them. Such a threat elevates the crime from a burglary shoplift to a robbery, Palo Alto Police Capt. James Reifschneider added to the outlet.

No weapons were seen, and no one was injured, the outlet reported.

The crooks fled in a red Mazda3 hatchback and were last seen traveling north on U.S. Highway 101, PaloAltoOnline reported.

The outlet said police haven't made any arrests and have limited information about the suspects, described as black males in their late teens or early 20s. One of them was wearing a dark hoodie with a camouflage pattern and a hood with a shark head design, black pants with white athletic stripes, black and red shoes, and a black backpack with white markings, the outlet said, citing the video, adding that the other suspect was wearing a beige hoodie with faded blue jeans and white shoes and a carrying bright red backpack.

PaloAltoOnline said Apple couldn't be reached for comment.

Those with information about this incident are asked to call the police department's 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413, the outlet said, adding that anonymous tips can be emailed to paloalto@tipnow.org or sent by text message or voicemail to 650-383-8984.

Theft from Alabama Tractor Supply store skids to a halt as armed customer blows out getaway car's tire: 'Everyone is walking around with guns in Theodore'

Two men attempted a broad-daylight theft from an Alabama Tractor Supply store on Black Friday, but some customers weren't having a bit of it — including one who pulled out his gun and blew out at least one tire on the getaway vehicle.

What are the details?

Witnesses said the two men were trying to steal merchandise from a Tractor Supply Co. location in Theodore on Friday morning, WPMI-TV reported. Theodore is about 15 minutes southwest of Mobile.

Ryan Maxie and his fiancée, Katie Clark, were in the store's parking lot when they heard shots after two men loaded up a shopping cart with unpaid merchandise, WPMI said.

"I was trying to call 911 while we were seeing what was going on," Clark explained to the station.

Witnesses told WPMI a customer pulled one of the suspects, Toby Priest, out of the getaway SUV.

The other suspect, Troy Brown, was able to take off in the vehicle — but was stopped when a different customer shot out at least one of the vehicle's tires, the station said.

"They kind of beat on each other inside the car, the guy was trying to [hit the driver's hands] so he wouldn't start the car," Maxie told WPMI. "Unfortunately he was able to get it started and floored it back, so the guy had to step back so he didn't get hit. When he floored it back he came out this entrance ... and went to that light right there and hit a U-turn and kind of did a couple donuts in the road."

Mobile Police soon found the getaway SUV abandoned on Highway 90 at the Interstate 10 entrance — with at least one flat tire, the station said.

Maxie and other witnesses said police eventually found Brown, who was wearing different clothes, WPMI reported.

Brown and Priest were booked into Mobile Metro Jail and are being charged with third-degree felony theft, the station said. Both suspects were in the jail Monday morning.

Maxie also shared some advice for crooks who try their luck in his neck of the woods.

"Don't come to Theodore and rob a Tractor Supply without knowing the person is going to have a gun," he told WPMI with a chuckle. "Everyone is walking around with guns in Theodore."
