Hillary Clinton responds to Trump indictment news by advertising 'BUT HER EMAILS' hats

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton responded to the news of an indictment against former President Donald Trump by advertising "BUT HER EMAILS" hats.

"Bringing this back in light of recent news: Get a limited-edition But Her Emails hat and support @onwardtogether groups working to strengthen our democracy," Clinton, who lost the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump, tweeted.

By supporting groups that are mobilizing voters, safeguarding voting rights, and recruiting candidates for office, we are committed to help build a fairer, more inclusive America for generations to come."

Republican Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina responded to Clinton's post by tweeting, "Gloating that there is a different standard of justice and that you are above the law, is next level bulls***."

"Yes, we do see the double standard, thanks so much for the reminder!" Ben Shapiro wrote.

"Hillary Clinton gloats about getting away with taking, hiding and destroying classified information," Richard Grenell tweeted.

Business mogul Elon Musk has said that it appears the justice system is more interested in targeting Trump than other political figures.

"There does seem to be far higher interest in pursuing Trump compared to other people in politics. Very important that the justice system rebut what appears to be differential enforcement or they will lose public trust," Musk wrote.

Trump has said that he is innocent and that he has been summoned to appear at a federal courthouse on Tuesday.

Special counsel Jack Smith said during remarks on Friday that an indictment unsealed on Friday charges "Trump with felony violations of our national security laws" and "participating in a conspiracy to obstruct justice."

Uber suspends diversity chief over 'Don't Call Me Karen' event that caused employees to be 'in pain and upset'

Uber recently suspended its chief diversity, equity, and inclusion officer for hosting a "Don't Call Me Karen" panel on May 17 that was intended to "dive into the spectrum of the American white woman's experience." The company's employees blasted the panel for being "more of a lecture" that "scolded" them.

DEI chief Bo Young Lee was hired by Uber in 2018, the New York Post reported. She reportedly organized an event last month called "Moving Forward: Don't Call Me Karen." The panel was set to be a part of Uber's "Moving Forward" event series, which kicked off in 2020 following the Black Lives Matter protests, and was described as "an open and honest conversation about race," according to a screenshot of the event's advertisement that was leaked on social media.

"We will be diving into the spectrum of the American white woman's experience from some of our female colleagues, particularly how they navigate around the 'Karen' persona," the event advertisement stated.

Internal staff communication from Uber's Slack channels, shared with the New York Times and posted on Twitter, revealed that many Uber employees were offended and even outraged about the event.

Employees stated that while the panel was described as a "dialogue session," Lee failed to address their questions.

The Times reported that Lee avoided addressing employees' concerns about how the company planned to prevent "tone-deaf, offensive and triggering conversations" moving forward.

One employee wrote, "It was more of a lecture - I felt like I was being scolded for the entirety of that meeting."

Another staff member replied, "I just don't even understand the premise of the meeting. I think when people are called Karen's its [sic] implied that it is someone that has little empathy to others or is bothered by minorities others [sic] that don't look like them. Like why can't bad behavior not be called out?"

A third Uber employee expressed dissatisfaction with the company's handling of the situation.

"It's very disheartening to work for a company that takes such public stands on matters yet when there is an in-house issue people are quieted and told to calm down," the employee stated.

Uber's chief people officer, Nikki Krishnamurthy, who was a part of the panel, sent an email to employees on May 18, noting that Lee had been asked "to step back and take a leave of absence while we determine next steps."

"We have heard that many of you are in pain and upset by yesterday's Moving Forward session," Krishnamurthy wrote. "While it was meant to be a dialogue, it's obvious that those who attended did not feel heard."

Krishnamurthy concluded the email by thanking workers for their "professionalism and patience as we work through this."

Uber confirmed to the Post on Monday that Lee is still on a leave of absence, but declined to comment further on the matter.

As Americans get hammered by roaring inflation, 80 senators vote to confirm Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell to another term

The Senate on Thursday voted 80-19 in favor of confirming Jerome Powell to a second term as chair of the Federal Reserve.

While lawmakers from both parties voted to confirm Powell, there were also senators on both sides of the political aisle who voted against confirmation — Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Jon Ossoff (D-Ga.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) were some of the 19 lawmakers who voted against confirmation.

"Today, I voted no on the reconfirmation of Jay Powell to be Chairman of the @FederalReserve," Sen. Shelby said in a statement. "American families are facing rampant inflation and historically high prices. Powell and the rest of the Fed have failed the American people. We should not reward failure."

"I like and respect Chairman Powell," Ossoff said in a statement. "But 8.3 percent inflation is hurting my constituents a year after the Fed predicted inflation was 'transitory.' The Fed persisted in massive quantitative easing even after it was clear inflation was worse than forecast. These are policy errors that have worsened inflation and hurt low-income people the most. I recognize that Chairman Powell has a difficult job in challenging times, and I sincerely hope for his success in his second term."

Americans have been getting hammered by high prices as soaring inflation eats away at the purchasing power of their hard-earned dollars. The Fed has been hiking interest rates in a bid to combat the roaring inflation.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released consumer price index data on Wednesday: "The all items index increased 8.3 percent for the 12 months ending April, a smaller increase than the 8.5-percent figure for the period ending in March," the BLS press release noted.

Then-President Donald Trump nominated Powell to his first term as Federal Reserve chair, and President Joe Biden nominated Powell to a second term. Powell's initial term ended in early February, but he has been serving as chair pro tempore.

Rob Reiner asserts that 'A vote for Republicans is a vote to destroy Democracy'

Rob Reiner issued a tweet on Thursday in which he declared that voting for Republican politicians amounts to a vote for the destruction of democracy.

"It couldn’t be more simple. A vote for Republicans is a vote to destroy Democracy," Reiner tweeted.

Richard Grenell responded to the post by calling Reiner "an intolerant meathead," a jab that appears to be a reference to Reiner's role on the television series "All In the Family."

Earlier this month, Reiner tweeted that, "It’s long past time that we acknowledge the sure handed, effective, grace under fire, success of Joe Biden’s Presidency." While he posted the tweet on April Fools' Day, given Reiner's outspoken liberal leanings, the tweet was not meant to be a joke.

"It’s simple. There is only one reason the 11 Republicans on Judiciary Committee voted against Judge Jackson. They’re racists," Reiner also tweeted this month.

Reiner is certainly not alone in posting strident and inflammatory remarks about people on the other side of the political aisle.

Roland Martin tweeted on Thursday that "Donald Trump is the devil. His #MAGA supporters are in a cult. And the @GOP folks who stand with him are traitors to America. They have no morals, values or principles. ALL of them must be defeated. ALL. OF. THEM."

Earlier this week, Martin announced that he was wearing two masks on a flight.

"I don’t give a damn what some grossly unqualified Donald Trump judge said, I’m double masked and wearing goggles on this Nashville to DC flight. I had COVID in December. Y’all can KISS MY ASS about me not wanting it again. And any fool saying they don’t matter is a damn liar," Martin tweeted on Tuesday.

On Thursday he declared: "To all of you nutcase conservatives who have been on my TL for the last three days, I said on Monday y’all can kiss my ass when it comes to wearing a mask when flying. Richard Grenell calls Biden's pledge to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court 'a terrible precedent,' slams Rep. Ted Lieu for 'defending this horrific precedent of intolerance'

Richard Grenell, who briefly served as acting director of national intelligence under President Donald Trump, called President Joe Biden's pledge to nominate the first black woman to the U.S. Supreme Court, "a terrible precedent," noting that many people were excluded from the pool of potential candidates.

Biden nominated Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to fill the seat of Justice Stephen Breyer, who is slated to retire later this year. In a 53-47 vote on Thursday, the U.S. Senate confirmed Jackson to serve on the nation's high court. GOP Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, who in June, 2021, voted against confirming Jackson to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, was one of only three Republicans to vote in favor of confirming Jackson to the Supreme Court.

"There will be one seat on the Supreme Court with an asterisk - because not every American was considered to fill it. Hispanics, Asians, Whites, gays and men were not even considered. This is a terrible precedent," tweeted Grenell, who also previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany.

Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu of California responded by tweeting, "Apparently @RichardGrenell believes that prior to President Biden, every Asian American, every gay person and every Black female was considered for Supreme Court openings and not a single one of them throughout US history was ever qualified. That’s [bullsh*t] and it’s demeaning."

Grenell, who is openly gay, fired back, "Ted LIEu proudly supports rejecting Hispanics from Supreme Court consideration. His constituents are outraged by his open intolerance." In another tweet Grenell said, "Ted LIEu attacks @BarackObama and Bill Clinton as racists and homophobes."

Apparently @RichardGrenell believes that prior to President Biden, every Asian American, every gay person and every Black female was considered for Supreme Court openings and not a single one of them throughout US history was ever qualified. That’s bullshit and it’s demeaning.https://twitter.com/richardgrenell/status/1512155340204228613 …
— Ted Lieu (@Ted Lieu) 1649392046

President Barack Obama nominated Sonia Sotomayor in 2009 — she is the first Hispanic to serve on the high court.

"What about the fact that minorities were historically excluded from Supreme Court openings?" Lieu replied to several people who had responded to his tweet. "Do you actually believe not a single Asian American, gay or Black female prior to Biden was qualified? What about that? Why won’t you answer the real question?"

Grenell accused Lieu of backing "racism and sexism."

"No President has ever vocally excluded Asians, Hispanics and men for the Court. Stop defending this horrific precedent of intolerance. Shame on you for supporting racism and sexism," Grenell tweeted.

— Richard Grenell (@Richard Grenell) 1649392693

Other Americans have also been critical of Biden's decision to limit the pool of potential candidates based on skin color and gender.

"Biden’s mistake: He should not be choosing a Supreme Court justice based on the color of their skin or sex, but rather on their qualifications & commitment to uphold our Constitution & the freedoms guaranteed to all Americans in that document which is the foundation of our nation," former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard tweeted earlier this year.

CNN’s Brian Stelter says Fox News 'really actually' must STOP picking on Mickey Mouse

CNN host Brian Stelter argued on "Reliable Sources" that "the talking point on the right “going into midterm elections "is about protecting kids from the dangers of the Walt Disney Company" and that horrible Fox News hosts are picking on Mickey Mouse in an attempt to "demonize Disney."

"We're seeing a theme of the midterm elections emerging," Stelter began. "The theme, the talking point on the right, is about protecting kids from the dangers of [pause for dramatic effect] the Walt Disney Company. Really."

He went on to explain how Disney is being targeted by angry conservatives because the company has come to represent the "growing acceptance of gay and transgender people."

Stelter backed his brilliant argument with articles written by other so-called "journalists" at CNN who parrot the fake leftist argument that Republican lawmakers are all about passing bills to attack the LGBTQ community.

"Some of those bills are framed as 'parental rights' bills," Stelter complained. "They're really actually anti-gay bills."

Really actually?

Presumably, Stelter thinks he's really actually talking about the ongoing clash between Walt Disney Co. and Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) over Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill, which has falsely been labeled the "Don't Say Gay bill" to dupe dopes like CNN's most unreliable source who don't bother to read the laws they publicly oppose.

Several people on Twitter were quick to point out who really actually initiated the Disney-DeSantis battle:

CNN finally covers the Hunter Biden story, omits name of key witness, faces backlash for waiting until after the election

After going quiet in the months before the election, CNN is now actively reporting the federal investigation into the business dealings of Hunter Biden.

Now that the election is over, the media reporting of Hunter Biden's business deals with foreign governments has entered a new phase as federal prosecutors in Delaware, along with the IRS Criminal Investigation agency and the FBI, have issued subpoenas and are seeking interviews in their investigation. Biden's finances are being scrutinized, as federal authorities want to know whether he or his associates violated tax and money-laundering laws in their business deals with China and other foreign countries.

CNN reported that after it contacted Biden's attorney and the Joe Biden campaign for comment about the investigation, Hunter Biden released the following statement:

I learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney's Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs. I take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.

But according to CNN, the scope of the investigation goes beyond Biden's taxes, covering business transactions involving individuals the FBI believes may have sparked counterintelligence concerns.

Two sources that spoke to CNN indicated that Hunter Biden has been under investigation since at least 2018.

CNN credited Sinclair Broadcast Group with reporting the existence of the FBI criminal investigation on Oct. 29. CNN did not cover the federal investigation when it was reported, just days before the 2020 U.S. presidential election. CNN also at the time ignored the "smoking gun" New York Post report about emails obtained from a laptop allegedly belonging to Hunter Biden showing Biden pursuing "lasting and lucrative" business ties with a Chinese energy company. A former business associate of the Biden family, Tony Bobulinski, publicly corroborated the Post's reporting and implicated former vice president Joe Biden's involvement in his son's business dealings.

To the extent that CNN did cover the story in the weeks leading up to the election, the network sought to discredit the New York Post's reporting and allege that the emails obtained from the laptop were part of a Russian disinformation campaign.

Now, CNN reports that the FBI took possession of the laptop in 2019 and that it is "unclear whether the laptop's contents are relevant to the ongoing federal probe and whether investigators can even use them, given potential chain of custody requirements for evidence."

CNN's report makes a reference to "a former Hunter Biden business associate who publicly made claims about potential wrongdoing" but does not mention Tony Bobulinski by name or report the claims he made about the Biden family.

Freelance writer Drew Holden noted on Twitter that a search for "Bobulinski" on CNN's website turns up no results.

Despite their homepage headline about Hunter Biden, a search for “Bobulinski,” the former business associate of Hun… https://t.co/g8isWrwOCG

Others have criticized CNN's lack of coverage on the Hunter Biden story. Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell responded to CNN anchor Jake Tapper after Tapper shared the story, demanding to know if he was "instructed" not to report the Hunter Biden investigation when the story broke in October.

This story broke in October. You didn’t do it then. Were you instructed to ignore it until after the election? https://t.co/IZTsCRtywm

Journalist Piers Morgan, a self-described liberal and former CNN employee, bashed his former employer in a blistering op-ed criticizing the mainstream media for its "shameful dereliction of journalistic duty driven by the inherent liberal bias," noting that he publicly said so at the time "as a liberal myself."

Predictably, and equally shamefully, the media responded by then trying to censor me too: I was dropped from an appearance on Brian Stelter's CNN media show after going on Fox News and lambasting news organisations like my former CNN employers for refusing to follow up the Post's Biden exposé.

They were happy to buy into Joe Biden's line that it was all a hoax driven by nefarious Russians to discredit him.

Now the same CNN is reporting that the federal investigation is 'examining multiple financial issues, including whether Hunter Biden and associates violated tax and money laundering laws in business dealings in foreign countries, principally China.'

"If I were appearing on Stelter's show this Sunday, I might ask him if he is still comfortable that CNN refused to pursue the Post's story before the election?" Morgan continued. "And what would they have done if it had been about Donald Trump Jr instead?"

As Morgan pointed out, CNN is not the only mainstream media outlet that initially ignored the Hunter Biden story only to just now decide that a federal criminal investigation into the son of a major presidential candidate is newsworthy. The Daily Beast covered CNN's report, noting that documents providing evidence of a federal investigation were made public in October but went "largely unnoticed." Hot Air's Ed Morrissey was quick to observe that conservative media and right-of-center publications certainly took notice and widely covered the story even as social media companies attempted to suppress the report and the Biden campaign and the rest of the media claimed it was Russian disinformation.

Glenn Greenwald, formerly of the Intercept, published an article Thursday calling out various reporters and big tech for promoting this claim without mentioning the FBI investigation into Biden before the election.

"That's the choice these media outlets made. They got the election outcome they wanted. But they and their reputations and legacy will have to live with this choice," Greenwald wrote.
