Jean-Pierre mocked for claiming Supreme Court Dobbs decision was unconstitutional



White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was mocked and ridiculed online after claiming that the Dobbs decision to overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling was unconstitutional.

Jean-Pierre made the comments during the White House media briefing on Wednesday.

"From day one, when the Supreme Court made this extreme decision to take away a constitutional right, it was an unconstitutional action by them, a right that was around for almost 50 years, a right that women had to make a decision on their bodies and how they want to start their families," she said.

Democrats and others on the left have been in an uproar since the Supreme Court overturned the landmark 1973 ruling and sent the decision on abortion rights to be decided by each individual state. Numerous abortion clinics have shut down all across the country while those seeking abortions have been forced to cross state lines to do so.

Critics of the Biden administration mocked the statement from Jean-Pierre.

"She is not the first self-appointed tenth justice but may be the first White House Press Secretary to make such Article III judgments," replied legal analyst Jonathan Turley.

"This woman may be the dumbest press secretary ever employed by a White House and I remember Scott McClellan," tweeted talk radio host Erick Erickson.

"It honestly feels cruel to put her on the podium and make her answer questions each day," responded Abigail Marone, press secretary for Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.).

"A lot of you are dunking on her for this, but just feel lucky she didn't say it was disinformation. Or domestic extremism. Or factcheckers rated this false. Or whatever other words they're using for 'things I don't like' this week," replied security advisor Omri Ceren.

"Tell me you don't understand the purpose of the Supreme Court without telling me you don't understand the purpose of the Supreme Court," read one response.

While abortion supporters claim that the right to abortion has been established through precedent of numerous cases since Roe v. Wade, even some on the left have admitted that the legal basis of the 1973 decision was shaky.

George Washington University shoots down demands from students to drop Clarence Thomas over Dobbs opinion



George Washington University rejected demands from some students that they fire Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas over his opinion in the Dobbs decision, which overruled Roe v. Wade.

The university released a statement about the student demands on Tuesday.

"Since the recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling to overturn Roe v. Wade, we have heard from members of our community who have expressed feelings of deep disagreement with this decision," read the statement.

The statement went on to address demands from students that Thomas be terminated as an adjunct professor and that his Constitutional Law Seminar class.

"Justice Thomas has been a consistent critic of the Court's legal philosophy on substantive due process for many years," the statement continued. "Because we steadfastly support the robust exchange of ideas and deliberation, and because debate is an essential part of our university's academic and educational mission to train future leaders who are prepared to address the world's most urgently problems, the university will neither terminate Justice Thomas' employment nor cancel his class in response to his legal opinions."

The statement went on to give students a lesson about free speech.

[I]t is not the proper role of the University attempt to shield individuals within or outside the University from ideas and opinions they find unwelcome, disagreeable, or even deeply offensive," the statement concluded.

Protests erupted across the nation when conservatives on the court overturned the landmark decision from 1973 that established federal protection of abortion rights. Many on the left have called on President Joe Biden to take drastic steps to re-establish abortion rights, including packing the court with liberal justices and even outright "dissolving" the court.

Democrats are likely to lose control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the midterm elections while Biden continues to suffer historically low approval ratings.

Liberals rail against Republican Susan Collins after she refuses to vote with Democrats to codify abortion rights



Liberals continued their outrage about Roe v. Wade on Thursday when they railed against Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine for refusing to vote with Democrats to codify abortion rights.

Collins was asked by CNN's Manu Raju if she would join Democrats on the vote, and she said she would not because it would infringe on conscience rights of Catholic churches.

"That right has been enshrined in law for a long time," said Collins.

Many on the left disagreed and took to social media to assail Collins for her decision.

"Susan Collins wants you to know she supports abortion as long as she doesn't need to do anything to actually support abortion," responded Democratic strategist Max Burns.

"Susan Collins can go f*** herself," read one angry tweet with more than 10k likes.

"I heard the Capitol Police had to assist Susan Collins today because her uterus was desperately trying to get the f*** away from her," read another angry tweet.

"When Madeline Albright said ‘there is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women’ - she was talking about Susan Collins," said another critic.

"Susan Collins is a despicable spineless shell of a former human hollowed out with a fascist slingblade and stuffed with the putrid malignant cells of dead racist nazi misogynistic concerned moralistic f***burgers drinking the runoff of nuclear waste cocktails," read another tweet with 800 likes.

Officials of the Biden administration are panicking about their inability to stop the Supreme Court from reversing the Roe v. Wade decision according to a report from the Washington Post Thursday.

In response to the passions arising because of the leaked decisions, officials have elected to set up a security fence around the Supreme Court building in Washington, D.C.

WaPo: Biden officials 'panicked' that they can't do anything to stop reversal of Roe v. Wade



A Washington Post report said that the Biden administration was caught off guard by the leak showing the Supreme Court was primed to overturn Roe v. Wade, and officialsare panicked about their inability to stop it.

“A lot of what the Biden administration could do would be window dressing, in that ultimately we’re going to have a system of conflicting access to reproductive health and rights depending upon the state you live in,” said Georgetown health law expert Lawrence Gostin. “And there’s very little that Biden can do about that.”

Many Democrats have called for abortion rights to be codified into law by Congress, but that effort is dependent on all Democrats voting in unison to shut down the filibuster. Both Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) have said they would not support the congressional maneuver.

The report said the administration was debating numerous executive and regulatory measures to defend abortion rights, but most of those efforts would likely be doomed if they were challenged and decided in the Supreme Court.

“Every single thing they do is going to get legally challenged, and every lawyer agrees,” said one outside adviser. “A bunch of attorneys general will mobilize, and [the administration] will lose.”

While many on the right are applauding the report that the court might overturn the landmark abortion decision, they are angered that someone apparently tried to intimidate the court by leaking the draft report.

A defiant statement from Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts assured whoever was culpable that the court would not be influenced by the unprecedented leak.

"To the extent this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed. The work of the Court will not be affected in any way," Roberts said.

REPORT: SCOTUS leak suggests Roe v. Wade will be overturned



A draft decision indicates that the U.S. Supreme Court is poised to end the controversial Roe v. Wade decision that established abortion rights in 1973.

The initial draft majority opinion was obtained by Politico and published on Monday.

The draft is written by Justice Samuel Alito and was reportedly circulated inside the court.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” he writes, referring to a separate decision that defended abortion rights.

The leak of a draft opinion is unprecedented in the modern history of the Supreme Court.

Roe was egregiously wrong from the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepened division," Alito continued.

"It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people's elected representatives," he adds.

The draft decision is related to a challenge against the abortion decision by a Mississippi pro-life law.

“The inescapable conclusion is that a right to abortion is not deeply rooted in the Nation’s history and traditions,” Alito concludes. "On the contrary, an unbroken tradition of prohibiting abortion on pain of criminal punishment persisted from the earliest days of the common law until 1973."
