THIS is how Ron DeSantis plans to DISMANTLE the deep state

Ron DeSantis has officially announced his 2024 run for president of the United States, and one of his first stops to discuss his bid — and how he plans to dismantle the deep state — was with Glenn Beck.

DeSantis laid out just what he wants to do if he were to be elected by the American people.

The Florida governor believes we must “make sure that the First Amendment actually means something, because you can’t let the government subcontract out censorship to Silicon Valley and say you still have a First Amendment.”

Glenn asks him just how he plans to work around government censorship and control of information.

“On day one, we’ll be spitting nails,” DeSantis says.

“I understand — and all your listeners should understand — that if we do everything right, if we’re disciplined, if we’re strong as anyone could be, it still takes a two-term project. I think it takes eight years to be able to reconstitutionalize this government,” he adds.

DeSantis believes the problem is that we have a “consolidation of power amongst people that all have the same worldview.”

This is why he would change who oversees agencies like the FBI.

DeSantis says that on “day one” of his presidency, he would hire a new FBI director and an attorney general “that has a backbone.”

However, he admits breaking up these ideologically driven agencies won’t be easy.

“It’s not something that anyone’s really tried to do because, you know, these are tough fights. I mean it’s like trench warfare, and you got to be ready on day one, and we will,” he says.

Glenn then asks him what he’s “bringing to the table, to this all-out war on the American dream.”

DeSantis answers that he plans to “rip up what Biden’s done on day one, with things like energy.”

“They are trying to price middle-class people out of having a middle-class standard of living. We’re not going to force people to buy electric vehicles. We’re going to make sure that people have a choice to have affordable transportation.”

He says he will also “reduce federal spending” and “fight with the Congress on that.”

Ron DeSantis beats Donald Trump in 2024 straw poll at top conservative conference

Former President Donald Trump, by most accounts, is currently atop the list of potential GOP presidential candidates for 2024. However, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has been catapulted into the conversation of major contenders for the Republican Party in 2024, thanks in large part to his leadership during the coronavirus pandemic. A new poll gave DeSantis a slight edge over Trump as the preferred GOP candidate for the 2024 presidential race.

The Western Conservative Summit, which bills itself as "the largest gathering of conservatives outside of Washington, D.C.," was held this weekend in Denver, Colorado. Participants at the summit voted in a straw poll about several important topics for conservatives, including their preferred candidate in the 2024 presidential race.

DeSantis narrowly beat out Trump as the most popular Republican for 2024.

In-person attendees and online participants were asked about their approval of a field of 31 potential presidential candidates for 2024. DeSantis topped the list with a 74.12% approval rating, followed by Trump at 71.43%. DeSantis and Trump are far-and-away the top two candidates as the third-place finisher – Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) – only captured a 42.86% approval rating, according to the Daily Wire. Trump's former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo surprised at fourth, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) rounded out the top five.

South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem came in sixth, followed by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Donald Trump Jr., and former Vice President Mike Pence, who was booed and called a "traitor" at a conservative conference last week, came in 10th place.

It should be noted that the straw poll allowed participants to select as many candidates as they wanted.

  1. Ron DeSantis — 74.12%
  2. Donald Trump — 71.43%
  3. Ted Cruz — 42.86%
  4. Mike Pompeo — 39.35%
  5. Tim Scott — 35.58%
  6. Kristi Noem — 29.92%
  7. Tom Cotton — 29.92%
  8. Rand Paul — 27.76%
  9. Donald Trump Jr. — 24.8%
  10. Mike Pence — 21.56%

Colorado Politics pointed out that the Western Conservative Summit's straw poll doesn't have a sterling reputation of predicting future GOP candidates:

Though it might have pegged the favorites of its right-leaning crowd, the polls have done a poor job of predicting eventual GOP nominees or general election winners. Restauranteur Herman Cain won the first presidential poll in 2011, followed by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio in 2012 and Cruz in 2013. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson topped the poll in 2014 and 2015, while in 2016 summit attendees thought Trump should tap former House Speaker Newt Gingrich as his running mate, and former district attorney George Brauchler was the runaway favorite for Colorado governor in 2017.

A straw poll conducted during the Conservative Political Action Conference in February also found huge support for Trump and DeSantis. There were 55% of CPAC attendees who said Trump would be the best choice as the GOP candidate in the 2024 presidential election, followed by DeSantis at 21%, and Noem at 4%.

The CPAC attendees were asked who they would want to run if Trump bows out of the 2024 election, which made DeSantis the overwhelming favorite with 43% support and Noem was the runner-up at 11%.

Participants of the Western Conservative Summit, which is sponsored by Colorado Christian University's Centennial Institute, were also asked what their top issues are. The results were:

  1. Immigration/Border Security — 82.43%
  2. Election Integrity — 79.46%
  3. Religious Freedom — 74.86%
  4. Federal Budget, Debt & Deficit — 74.32%
  5. Gun Rights — 73.78%
  6. National Defense — 71.08%
  7. Energy Independence — 70.54%
  8. Education — 61.89%
  9. China/Russia — 60.81%
  10. Life/Abortion — 55.68%
  11. Media Bias — 55.68%

Trump wins CPAC straw poll by wide margin; DeSantis emerges as heir apparent

Former President Donald Trump handily won the Conservative Political Action Conference straw poll. The annual CPAC straw poll serves as a barometer as to potential presidential candidates.

Before Trump delivered his speech on Sunday afternoon at CPAC in Florida, the results of the straw poll were released.

Of the CPAC attendees, 62% said election integrity was the most important issue, followed by 48% who said constitutional rights were of the utmost importance, 35% declared immigration was their top priority, and 32% said reopening the economy was most important issue to them.

As for the direction of the Republican Party, a whopping 95% of conservatives at the political convention want to continue with Trump's issue agenda and policies going forward.

Trump's presidential job approval was 97% with the CPAC crowd, including 87% who strongly approved of the former president's job while he was in the White House.

There were 68% of CPAC attendees who said Trump should run for president in 2024. If Trump was elected as president in 2024, he would be 78-years-old, the same current age as President Joe Biden.

The CPAC straw poll found that Trump was the overwhelming favorite candidate in 2024 at 55%. Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was the runner-up at 21%, followed by Republican South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem at 4%, and Nikki Haley at 3%.

The CPAC straw poll asked who is their preferred presidential candidate if Trump doesn't run, and DeSantis was the overwhelming favorite with 43% of the vote, making him a potential heir apparent to Trump. Noem came in second at 11%, followed by Donald Trump Jr. at 8%, Mike Pompeo with 7%, Ted Cruz at 7%, Tucker Carlson capturing 3%, Josh Hawley snagging 3%, and Ivanka Trump at 3%.

At the 2016 CPAC, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) won the straw poll with 40% of the vote, followed by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). Trump, who canceled his appearance at the convention, finished third with 15% of the votes.

DeSantis delivered his CPAC speech on Friday, where he hit on immigration, big tech censorship, and election security.

"Florida's leading on the issues that matter to conservatives," DeSantis said. "We don't spout hollow rhetoric. We take decisive action."

"We cannot, we will not, go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear," the Florida governor proclaimed. "We reject open borders and instead support American sovereignty and the American worker. Building a movement on amnesty and cheap foreign labor is like building a house on a field of quicksand."
