Pizza restaurant worker learns unforgettable lesson after telling police officers to leave restaurant

A San Francisco pizza joint fired one of its employees this week for telling police officers dining at the restaurant that they were not welcome to eat there.

On Sunday, several police officers entered the Pizza Squared restaurant in downtown San Francisco. But, according to the San Francisco Police Officers Association, one of the restaurant's employees told the officers they had to leave because "they were not welcome in the restaurant."

SFPOA President Tracy McCray told KTVU-TV that officers had frequented the restaurant but had never encountered such anti-police "bigotry."

“Today, a @pizzasquaredsf employee told several of our officers that they were not welcome in the restaurant. The SFPOA notified the owners of the restaurant of the shameful and hateful actions of one of their employees. We appreciate the owners' swift apology...(Tweet 1 of 2)”
— San Francisco POA (@San Francisco POA) 1675050124

The restaurant's owners — Christina and Ryan Siu — took swift action, firing the employee who had only been on the job for days.

"This employee was a trainee & on his third day. When our shift manager told us about the incident after it happened, we expressly told him we didn’t share his views & that he was out of line. He was fired at the end of the day. When we notified by SFPOA, we apologized," the restaurant wrote on Twitter.

In a complete statement, the owners explained:

Over the past weekend a trainee was working the counter when several San Francisco police officers patronized our store. Unbeknownst to us, the trainee mistreated the officers. We were since contacted by the Police Officers Association regarding the matter at which time we immediately gave our sincere apology for this unfortunate incident. The trainee was not hired because he was not a good fit. We at Pizza Squared want to make it abundantly clear that we would never refuse service to anyone based on their background, profession, race or gender. This is not political for us, we welcome anyone who comes through our doors with a smile.

The SFPOA praised the restaurant for taking immediate action and apologizing.

"We were pleased to receive an immediate response from the owners, including a sincere apology for their employee’s actions and a commitment to meet with the affected officers and make this unfortunate situation right," McCray said.

Woke school district promotes upcoming BLM flag-hoisting event

San Diego Unified School District posted on social media to promote an upcoming Black Lives Matter flag-hoisting event.

"In honor of #BlackHistoryMonth, San Diego Unified students from across the district will raise the Black Lives Matter flag to signify our shared commitment to creating a just, equitable, and empathetic world," the district tweeted.

A graphic included in the tweet indicates that the February 1 event is open to students, families, staff, and members of the community.

The district has flown the BLM flag in the past as well, and it has also hoisted other controversial flags, including pride and transgender flags.

"This morning, the district raised the Black Lives Matter flag, along with the Pride and Trans flags, at the Eugene Brucker Education Center," the district tweeted in June 2020.

BLM is both pro-choice and pro-LGBT.

"Black liberation movements in this country have created room, space, and leadership mostly for Black heterosexual, cisgender men — leaving women, queer and transgender people, and others either out of the movement or in the background to move the work forward with little or no recognition. As a network, we have always recognized the need to center the leadership of women and queer and trans people," the group's website states.

In a statement responding to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last year, BLM declared that the ruling was "one of several this week designed to limit freedom in service of a white supremacist and patriarchal agenda." BLM also claimed that "full access to abortion care is necessary for all Black people."

BLM recently tweeted, "Police represent the interest of capitalism and advance white supremacy at any and all costs."

Passengers survive after Tesla plummets over 250 feet off California cliff

A Tesla carrying a 4-year-old, 9-year-old, and two adults plummeted over 250 feet off a cliff in California onto a rocky bed below, flipping multiple times in the process, according to CBS News.

The area known as Devil's Slide allegedly sees many fatal car wrecks along the Pacific Coast Highway about 15 miles south of San Francisco.

"We go there all the time for cars over the cliff and they never live. This was an absolute miracle," said firefighter Chief Brian Pottenger, who oversaw the rescue of the two adults and two children.

Based on its initial investigation, the California Highway Patrol says that it doesn't believe the Tesla was operating in auto-pilot/self-driving mode at the time of the crash. Road conditions were also ruled out as a cause for the incident.

"The damage to the vehicle would indicate that it hit and it flipped several times," Pottenger said.

"We were able to notice movement in the front seat through the windshield with binoculars, so we knew that we had at least one person that was alive," he continued, saying that authorities were "very shocked when [they] found survivable victims in the vehicle," he added.

The rescue operations took several hours as emergency workers battled consistent rain, wind, slick roads, and waves from the nearby ocean front. Firefighters were forced to use the "Jaws of Life" on the doors, which were jammed against the cliff.

The children were pulled from the car out of the back window and suffered musculoskeletal injuries with the firefighter saying they "were more scared than they were hurt."

The two adults were originally thought to have traumatic injuries, however after being air-lifted to a hospital, they were found to have only sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Video of the helicopter rescue shows waves crashing into the rocky bed of the cliffside, where the Tesla fell into a narrow pocket rough terrain next to the water. Multiple workers set up a series of ropes to extract the victims from the roofless car, which was surrounded by debris and one of the car doors.

Devil's Slide is allegedly known to rarely see survivors, especially in the area of the crash in question, which has no guard rails.

"The car traveled off the main portion of the roadway. For what reason, we don't know," said Officer Mark Andrews of the California Highway Patrol.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

San Francisco bicyclist videotapes herself losing it on EMTs driving an ambulance parked in a bike lane

A bicyclist in San Francisco is likely regretting some of her social media activity after a video she posted of herself on Twitter went viral for all the wrong reasons.

According to KTVU-TV in San Fran, the video was originally posted by a twitter user with the handle @drivingmzstacey, who has since made their Twitter feed private, likely in response to the overwhelmingly negative reaction her video has garnered.

In the video, the user can be heard hysterically berating an EMT who was behind the wheel of the ambulance, "Get out of the bike lane!... You're killing us! Get out of the bike lane!"

The woman did not appear to be actually dying, or in any physical danger at all, during the course of filming the video.

Before confronting the EMT, the woman reportedly vented her frustration about being inconvenienced by a rescue vehicle in her bike lane, saying, "Here's an ambulance in the bike lane. There is a business they can park in. They can block the car lane, they can block the non-existent motorcycle park lane. I am not even half a mile from a home on a rainy day. What the f—k. What the f— k."

After berating the driver thusly, the EMT stopped what he was doing and moved to the other side of the street. The woman claimed in the video that the EMT in question was on break, but the San Francisco Fire Department disputed that claim, saying that they were "finishing a medical emergency with a patient care document from a call at that location which is why they moved to the other side of the street rather than engage with you."

“Thank you for sharing this. The crews did not say they “were on a break”, they were finishing a medical emergency with a patient care document from a call at that location which is why they moved to the other side of the street rather than engage with you. Have a safe day.”
— SAN FRANCISCO FIRE DEPARTMENT MEDIA (@SAN FRANCISCO FIRE DEPARTMENT MEDIA) 1672344474

According to the Daily Mail, the woman who filmed the interaction was 51-year-old Stacey Randecker, who admitted that she sounded "crazy" during the video, but defended her actions. "I know that it sounded it crazy. I really admit I had lost it. But I don't think people understand what it's like. You're on a bike, in the rain, and the one path that you have is blocked over and over again in such a short amount of time," Randecker told the Daily Mail.

Randecker also insisted that, contrary to the Fire Department's statement, that the EMT in question was just "checking her phone" when she approached.

18-year-old San Jose State football player, who was riding a scooter, dies from fatal accident with school bus

San Jose State University football player Camdan McWright passed away Friday after being fatally struck by a school bus while riding a scooter.

"We lost an amazing young man tragically this morning. Camdan had a bright future ahead of him and everyone in this community that had the opportunity to spend time with him knew that. We are still trying to deal with the news of this tragedy, and appreciate everyone's support during these difficult times. Our thoughts and prayers are with the McWright family and I want them to know we are all here for them. Camdan will always be in our hearts and he will be profoundly missed," San Jose State football head coach Brent Brennan said, according to a post on the Spartans' website.

The freshman would have reached the age of 19 later this year, according to the post.

"The loss of our student is heartbreaking and devastating for our San José State community. We grieve for Camdan, his family, friends, teammates, and the Spartan family. We grieve together and will provide all of the support that Camdan's family, our students and our football program require to help move through this tragic time," the school's interim president, Steve Perez, said.

E! News reported that California Highway Patrol confirmed to the outlet that an 18-year-old male died after being struck by a school bus on Friday but did not name the deceased individual. The outlet said that the CHP report indicated that the vehicle entered the intersection with a green traffic light as the individual rode a scooter into a crosswalk "traveling directly into the path of the oncoming bus."

"The driver of the bus was unable to stop in time," the report noted, "and hit the 18-year-old male, causing fatal injuries."

San Francisco to discipline firefighter for wearing 'Let's go Brandon' T-shirt

A San Francisco firefighter will be punished after he was pictured wearing a "Let's go Brandon" T-shirt while on duty in apparent violation of Fire Department policy.

Someone on Twitter took a photo of the firefighter and posted it on Saturday, tagging the San Francisco Fire Department and asking, "is this the new official uniform of the SFFD?" The user also tagged San Francisco Mayor London Breed and District 8 supervisor Rafael Mandelman.

The photo shows a firefighter wearing a navy blue T-shirt with the phrase "Let's go Brandon" on the back, which is a coded protest slogan against President Joe Biden. He appears to be standing with two other members of the Fire Department on the corner of Noe and 18th streets in San Francisco.

The phrase became a meme in October 2021 after an NBC sports reporter misheard a crowd chanting "F*** Joe Biden" after 28-year-old NASCAR driver Brandon Brown won his first-ever victory at the Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama. The reporter incorrectly said the crowd was chanting "Let's go, Brandon" to celebrate his win.

Left-wing media has since dubbed "Let's go Brandon" a "right-wing slur" used to denigrate the president.

“@LondonBreed @RafaelMandelman @SFFDPIO is this the new official uniform of the SFFD ? Noe and 18th street just now.”
— David (@David) 1664039404

The Fire Department responded on Twitter, writing, "This is not the official uniform of the SFFD. This will be handled immediately. Thank you for bringing it to our attention."

— SAN FRANCISCO FIRE DEPARTMENT MEDIA (@SAN FRANCISCO FIRE DEPARTMENT MEDIA) 1664042559

In a statement to the San Francisco Chronicle, a spokesman for the department confirmed the firefighter will face disciplinary action for wearing "a non SSFD T-shirt" while on active duty and said the T-shirt "does not reflect the views and opinions" of the department.

“The Department took immediate action once made aware. The SFFD has followed internal and City policies to handle this incident,” the statement read.

The department did not respond to media questions about what disciplinary actions the employee will face.

This would not be the first time San Francisco officials have taken action in response to angry leftists on social media. In 2020, San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott banned rank-and-file police officers from wearing "thin blue line" face masks showing support for law enforcement after photos and videos of the officers circulated online. The police department said at the time that the face masks "may be perceived as divisive or disrespectful." They also appeared to violate a department policy regarding political symbols.

Video: Chaos erupts when Texas parents clash with police after false school shooting alert, officer slams wounded man to the ground

Frantic parents attempted to enter a Texas high school because there was a report of an active shooter on the campus – which was later determined to be false. The concerned parents clashed with police officers as they attempted to access Jefferson High School, which was on lockdown. One wounded man was thrown to the ground by a police officer.

There were reports of a school shooting around 1 p.m. on Tuesday. San Antonio police officers conducted a room-by-room search with strike teams, according to Chief Johnny Reyes of the San Antonio Independent School District police.

With the failures of law enforcement during the Uvalde school shooting fresh in their minds, hundreds of parents rushed to the school after they heard of the purported shooter.

The school was on lockdown because of the potentially deadly threat. Panic-stricken parents attempted to enter the school, but were denied entry by police officers – some with physical force.

"Increasingly angry parents waiting for more than an hour outside said they had received messages from kids who had heard shots," the Express-News reported. "Some said it started with a fight."

Video shows a man wailing in agony as he clutched his severely bleeding arm that was reportedly cut when he broke a glass window at the school. Suddenly, a police officer slammed him to the ground. A crowd of parents gathered around the man as he was being handcuffed.

The San Antonio Police Department said the man was provided with a tourniquet and taken to the hospital with "non-life-threatening" injuries.

School district officials said the man will not face charges.

Cops and parents got in each other's faces during the shambolic response to the school shooting that never actually happened. A police officer is seen pushing a man.

The police department said that some individuals "became unruly."

WOAI reporter Matt Roy posted videos of the chaotic scene at Jefferson High School.

The San Antonio Police Department said at 2:26 p.m. on Tuesday, "The school has been cleared and is deemed safe."

Jefferson High School student Marty Gonzalez told KSAT-TV, "I'm supposed to feel happy at school, be happy with my friends and today was not one of those days. Today my life could have been on the line."

Student Christopher Corrales added, "This is one of the things that I’m going to have to try and move on from and it’s also going to be one of the things I'm going to remember for the rest of my life. They just told us to put our hands up but still, a gun pointed at you, aimed at your face is not right."

Students are required to turn in their phones at the beginning of each class.

Audrey Cardenas – a mother of a Jefferson High School student – said she was panicked over the situation.

"I couldn’t get ahold of him, and if it was an active shooter, what if he was one that got shot, and I wouldn’t have known? Like, it’s not okay," Cardenas said. "It's not okay to take their phones away, especially with what happened at Robb Elementary. It’s not okay."

Chief Reyes said of allowing students to have phones, "It's an opportunity to have direct communication with what’s going on inside. It’s also communication they may have with their parents that says, 'Mom, I’m okay. Dad, I’m fine.'"

San Antonio Independent School District Superintendent Jaime Aquino said of the school's phone policy, "They wanted to make sure that they, the students, didn’t have phones that interrupted instruction, but we don’t have a policy, and every campus can revisit that."

Aquino referred to the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, where 19 children and two teachers were murdered and it took law enforcement 77 minutes to neutralize the shooter. "I'm assuming that if we had not had Uvalde, perhaps we would not have the reaction of the parents. So we just have to understand that," Aquino said.

"This is not going to be a Uvalde situation. We are going to react and respond appropriately," Aquino added.

On Wednesday, San Antonio Independent School District officials said protocols were executed properly, but communication with parents can and will be improved. The school district plans to start sending emergency text message alerts to parents and using bullhorns to communicate with large crowds.

Young California mother beheaded in middle of street, man arrested for homicide

On Thursday afternoon in northern California, a 25-year-old mother was beheaded in the street outside her home. A suspect was arrested shortly after the incident, authorities reported.

Law enforcement sources told KGO-TV's investigative team that an adult male beheaded a young woman in front of witnesses in San Carlos, a city on the San Francisco Peninsula.

Broadcastify radio traffic and law enforcement records showed that police received reports around noon that a sword was used to cut off the woman's head.

The sheriff's department reported that the crime occurred at 11:50 a.m. in the street outside the woman's home.

— San Mateo County S.O (@San Mateo County S.O) 1662675707

During a press briefing just hours after the incident, Lieutenant Eamon Allen said that he could not confirm the type of weapon used in the crime. Allen referred to the weapon as "a stabbing instrument" and stated authorities were still attempting to locate it.

"They arrived within minutes and found an obviously deceased female in the street in that area," said Allen during a Thursday press conference. "They began to work the scene and shortly then after, the male suspect arrived back at the scene and was quickly detained by sheriff's deputies. He was later placed under arrest for homicide. We can confirm that a stabbing instrument was used in the commission of the crime. That weapon is still outstanding."

Chapel Thorborne, a neighbor who said he had some interactions with the couple before the incident, stated the suspect returned to the scene shortly after committing the murder.

"After he cut her head off, he came walking up, him and his two friends," Thorborne said. "And they walked right by me and they arrested him."

Allen also reported that the suspect needed medical attention prior to being taken into custody, but he did not have specifics on the injury.

Sources told KGO-TV that the victim and the suspect were in an ongoing relationship. According to authorities, the young woman filed a restraining order in April against the suspect, Jose Solano Landaeta. Sources informed the news outlet that there was a history of domestic violence.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

Allen confirmed that the woman had two young children but that they were not present to witness the crime. KGO-TV's investigative team reported that sources said the kids were inside the house at the time of the murder.

The 7-year-old and 1-year-old girls were taken into custody by Child Protective Services. A dog and two cats were also taken from the home.

"Any time someone loses their life it's certainly a tragedy. As far as the shocking nature of it, I do know that the deputies that first arrived on scene were a little beset by the scene. We are providing peer support, we are also providing support for the witnesses that were on scene as well, because there were several civilian witnesses," Allen said.

Law enforcement continued to work the scene Thursday evening. The investigation is still ongoing.

Police rescue kidnapped 3-month-old baby taken from home while grandmother unloaded groceries; 3 suspects are reportedly in custody

Police in San Jose, California, have located a 3-month-old baby who was inexplicably kidnapped from home while his grandmother unloaded groceries.

In an update post on Twitter Tuesday morning, the San Jose Police Department informed the public that "Baby Brandon" had been located and one suspected kidnapper had been taken into custody.

Police added that Brandon Cuellar was found alive and apparently well, but said he would be taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The news was a welcome development in a shocking incident that had captured the nation's attention for almost 24 hours. It also provided a sigh of relief to Cuellar's family, who undoubtedly feared the worst after the infant was taken from his San Jose home Monday afternoon following a trip to the grocery store with his grandmother.

According to KPIX-TV, police have taken three persons of interest into custody in total — including a woman who had been with the child's grandmother at the grocery store shortly before he was abducted by an unknown man.

“This was a person who was with the grandmother yesterday when they went shopping, she was present at the apartment complex when this happened,” San Jose police spokesman Sgt. Christian Camarillo told reporters. “There has been some inconsistencies with what she has told us. Obviously, drawing our attention to what she knows about this.”

Camarillo did not disclose any further details about the woman, but called the abduction “something planned [and] premeditated.”

Police said a man who was not known by Cuellar's family walked into the San Jose home at roughly 1 p.m. Monday and casually exited with the infant in a baby carrier. The grandmother had allegedly gone back outside to retrieve more groceries, and when she returned, the baby was gone.

Authorities also uploaded photos and a video of the incident to Twitter and identified the suspect as a Hispanic male wearing black pants and a dark blue shirt.

According to investigators, Cuellar was being watched by his grandmother while his mother was away at work. The baby's father is currently in prison, and police plan to speak with him soon.

While speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Camarillo did not confirm whether or not the kidnapping may be related to a family dispute.

An investigation remains ongoing. Here's more on how the incident unfolded.
