Pro-Palestinian protesters actually toss their car keys into water while shutting down major bridge during rush hour

A mob of pro-Palestinian protesters during Thursday morning's rush hour stopped their vehicles and blocked traffic on the Bay Bridge — which connects San Francisco and Oakland — then proceeded to throw their car keys into the water below, forcing their vehicles to be towed.

What are the details?

The chaos began around 7:45 a.m. and ended four hours later with at least 70 arrests and 29 towed cars, KTVU-TV reported, adding that all lanes finally reopened just before noon.

"This was very well planned," California Highway Patrol Officer Art Montiel told the station.

More from KTVU:

The Arab Resource and Organizing Center was among the organizers of the Bay Bridge blockage, demanding a ceasefire, and calling out President Joe Biden to do more for the Palestinians — 11,000 of whom have so far died in the war between Israel and Hamas.

"There’s a genocide happening in #Gaza and @POTUS is hosting cocktail parties in #SanFrancisco," AROC tweeted. "Bay Area has shut down the Bay Bridge to demand #CeasefireNOW. No more $ for genocide."

Many chained themselves together, chanting "Free Palestine" and "We want justice." They also used a "sleeping dragon" maneuver, handcuffing themselves together with PVC pipe. The move makes it hard for police to cut off their cuffs. The CHP said dozens of protesters threw their car keys into the bay, forcing the vehicles to be towed away, creating more havoc on the bridge.

A KTVU cameraman managed to walk along the span of the bridge, livestreaming video of protesters lying in body bags, with fake blood smeared on them to represent the Palestinian lives lost in the war.

Aisha Mizar — an organizer with the Palestinian Youth Movement — told the station she was excited to be on the bridge and gaining attention for the cause. Believe it or not, Mizar added to KTVU that commuters didn't seem to mind not being able to move for more than an hour — although the station said that observation didn't match what angry and frustrated commuters said on social media.

83-year-old Rep. Nancy Pelosi announces 2024 reelection bid, says 'our City needs us to advance San Francisco values'

Long-serving Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California has announced that she will seek yet another term in office.

"Now more than ever our City needs us to advance San Francisco values and further our recovery. Our country needs America to show the world that our flag is still there, with liberty and justice for ALL. That is why I am running for reelection — and respectfully ask for your vote," a post on the @TeamPelosi X account reads.

— (@)

Pelosi is the only woman ever to serve as Speaker of the House. From early 2003 until early 2023 she served as either House Speaker or House Minority Leader. She passed the torch to current House Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) earlier this year.

Pelosi, 83, has served in the U.S. House of Representatives for more than 36 years. If she gets elected again in 2024 and completes another term, she will have been in office for just shy of four decades by the end of that term in early 2027.

"Would love a rundown on #SanFrancisco values! #StealingOK #Drugs4All #IllegalImmigrationSuper #HomelessnessGreat," Liz Peek wrote on X.

"Too many--both Democrats and Republicans--want to cling to power until their dying days...," Peter Schweizer remarked.

"Nancy Pelosi, who will be 84 years old next year, just announced she is running for re-election. It's insane how many super old people remain in government. Not healthy for the country and absurdly reckless," Clay Travis opined.

Democratic National Committee chair Jaime Harrison cheered on Pelosi's reelection bid. "The greatest to ever do it! Speaker Emerita Pelosi has dedicated her entire political career to delivering for the American people, and I could not be more excited to see her step back up to the plate. Let's go!" Harrison wrote.

Video shows armed thugs targeting San Francisco engagement photoshoots, stealing camera equipment in broad daylight: 'The bride was crying the whole time'

The latest crime being committed in San Francisco is thugs targeting photographers who are shooting engagement photoshoots. Two such robberies were attempted on Wednesday afternoon in broad daylight with numerous witnesses.

Two photographers shooting outside the romantic Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco were the targets of armed thieves.

A photographer from Dallas, Texas, flew into San Francisco to shoot an engagement photo session for a couple around 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Suddenly, two armed and masked men attempted to steal the photographer's expensive camera equipment at gunpoint. There were reportedly dozens of witnesses, but nobody intervened.

Video shows the photographer fighting back, but the robbers pistol-wiped the man. The photographer was able to hold onto the camera equipment and the attempted robbers fled the scene empty-handed.

The victim suffered injuries and was bleeding from his head.

The photographer – who wished to not be named in fear of retaliation – told ABC7 News, "I was just freaked out. I tried to protect the client's memories. The bride was crying the whole time."

The photographer – who is a new father – vowed to never shoot at the Palace of Fine Arts again, and is warning others to steer clear of the area.

Earlier in the day, another photographer was robbed. Video shows that the suspects could be the same duo in the engagement photoshoot attempted robbery. In this robbery, they are seen stealing a bag of camera equipment to their car waiting in the middle of the street.

Both violent incidents were reported to the San Francisco Police Department, but no arrests have been announced.

San Francisco-based wedding photographer Monica Lam shooting at the Palace of Fine Arts said, "I was just scared. Yeah, I was scared. I was very nervous coming here today, I didn't know what to make of it."

Liam noted, "It does change things for me for sure. I think possibility next year, I won't have that many shoots in San Francisco anymore."

"Just watching kind of like the struggle and everything. I just felt for him. I felt for the couple because I know that they felt helpless," said

In March 2021, a TV news crew was robbed in broad daylight in San Francisco.

“I also interviewed to a Bay Area photographer who took this video earlier in the day— also at the Palace of Fine Arts.

He believes it’s the same suspects. In this case the photographer lost a lot of gear. You can see a suspect running away with it. #SanFrancisco”

San Francisco officials cancel celebration for $1.7 million public toilet that took years to build after online mockery

City and state officials in San Francisco, California, cancelled a celebration for a public toilet that cost $1.7 million and took years to build after they received massive online backlash.

California state Representative Matt Haney told the San Francisco Chronicle that he voted for the city to pay the cost for the bathroom in the Noe Valley Town Square and had planned to attend the event to celebrate the outlandishly expensive plan but canceled it after reading the news coverage.

"The number, it sounded shockingly high to me, and I think your article has revealed that their process around this is broken and the number is inexplicable,” Haney said to the Chronicle.

“I’m glad that Noe Valley will at some point get a bathroom, but it shouldn’t cost this much and it shouldn’t take this long, and I’m angry about it,” Haney added while raising his voice. “It’s not something I want to celebrate right now.”

Haney said the neighborhood has been asking for a public restroom since 2016. The $1.7 million plan to build the toilet was scheduled to be completed in three years, in 2025, or nine years since the neighborhood asked for it.

While many on social media mocked San Francisco officials for the debacle, at least one reporter defended the city and excoriated the critics.

"To all center-right ideologues bashing the $1.7 million public toilet in #SanFrancisco -- show us your actual, concrete, real-world data on how much it would cost you to build a public restroom for a major U.S. city. Show us the details, the cost estimates--or stop whining," tweeted Christopher Cook.

He later deleted the tweet.

San Francisco's toilet was mocked so mercilessly on social media, a parody account pretending to be the future toilet ridiculed city officials.

Former drug dealer BLASTS sanctuary cities for fueling the fentanyl trade

Ricci Wynne is a recovering drug addict using his social media to battle the policies that have turned his hometown of San Francisco into an open-air drug market. In this clip, Ricci opens up to "Fearless" host Jason Whitlock about the shocking story of how San Fran’s sanctuary city status further enables the deadly international fentanyl trade.

Ricci bravely blows the whistle on San Francisco's safe space for undocumented drug dealers. According to Ricci, some of these foreign citizens have been arrested two and three times for selling drugs, but they have no fear of being deported because of the city's sanctuary status.

Video: Shoplifter brazenly stuffs store items down his pants; female worker tries to stop him. Later, she's criticized for trying to prevent theft.

A female employee of a San Francisco Walgreens was seen on video trying to stop a male shoplifter from stealing items — and she was later criticized for trying to prevent the theft.

What are the details?

According to the Twitter user who posted the video, the shoplifting took place 10 a.m. Sunday at the Walgreens at the intersection of Geary and Taylor Streets in the city's Tenderloin district.

The clip shows the woman worker — identified by the Twitter user only as "Mary" — following the grey-hooded man down an aisle and telling him she's "called the police already."

The shoplifter then brazenly reaches into the shelves and stuffs several items down his pants — and Mary calls him out for it, just inches from him.

“Hey! Hey! Hey! What are you doing?” Mary yells. “Don’t stuff your pants! Take that out!”

"Was getting some groceries at my local Walgreens when a barbarian ransacked the store," the poster's tweet read. "Asian American frontline worker (Mary) is NOT afraid. This is not her first rodeo!"

According to KTVU-TV, a "second video shows the alleged thief leaving the store, and another worker can be heard telling him to 'pull them drawers up.'"

"Barbarian really showing his a**," the same Twitter user said, according to the station. "Asian American worker Mary STILL ain’t scared. Going above and beyond the call of duty." But it appears that tweet and video have been deleted.

KTVU said it's unclear if police went to the Walgreens during or after the incident.

San Francisco shoplifters have plagued Walgreens — and other stores — in recent years, and a number of Walgreens in the city have closed as a result.

How did folks react?

While some Twitter users praised the Walgreens worker for trying to stop the theft, many others criticized her for it:

 • "Walgreens needs to suspend her for this," one user declared. "She should not be risking her life over corporate profits."
 • "This is how employees get murdered. Girl let that man keep them bags of chips. They not even half-full anyway," another commenter said before incorrectly calling the store "Walmart" and adding that it "will hire another dummy in know time if she was killed."
 • "There is nothing in that store that is worth your life and health," another user wrote. "You'd get fired and screwed over if you got injured by that nonpaying customer."
 • "She should’ve left him alone," another commenter said. "She’s so lucky, he could’ve struck her. It’s not worth your safety & life stopping him."
 • "This is absolutely against company policy. There are literal training videos that show that this is NOT what employees are supposed to do. (I may, or may not, have seen that training)," another user said. "I would bet that this woman will be getting written up, if not fired..."
 • "She is stupid," another commenter wrote. "Could have gotten her teeth knocked out. Not worth it.... Corporate insurance covers loss. Btw she is violating Walgreen[s'] employee policy for physically trying to intervene, Call police is her only policy duty."

Oh, and one commenter mocked the crook and what soft-on-crime San Francisco recently has become: "Please don’t shame this man! He is a valued, loyal customer of our beautiful, historic, open-air drug market. We love it when he brings toiletries, OTC meds, and other new, unopened merchandise to trade for fentanyl."

Protesters hang hair dryers on tree outside Pelosi's house amid salon uproar

A group of women held a protest outside House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) San Francisco home on Thursday, stringing a tree outside with hair dryers and chanting about freedom as the Democrat faces backlash for being busted in a salon in violation of the city's coronavirus restrictions while citizens are prohibited from doing so.

What are the details?

In footage taken by local CBS affiliate KPIX-TV, the demonstrators can be seen hanging blow dryers, an American flag, and other adornments from the tree to create their display. Some of them wore rollers in their hair, and one can be heard declaring, "It's a freedom tree, everybody!"

KPIX producer Bobby Tooke posted the footage on Twitter, reporting, "Protestors gather outside of @SpeakerPelosi house in #SanFrancisco. They chant about freedom and place hair dryers on a tree."

Another clip of the protest shared by the San Francisco Chronicle shows a demonstrator telling the group, ..."To gather, to make sure everybody has an opportunity to earn a living and feed their families." The women then cheer and another adds, "The government needs to stay out of it."

Reporter Jessica Christian tweeted, "None of these demonstrators in front of Nancy Pelosi's home are salon owners or workers. They've all described themselves 'angry salon customers' who want to get their hair and nails done."

Pelosi was caught visiting eSalon in San Francisco on Monday during an appointment solicited by her assistant with a stylist who rents a chair from the salon that has been shut down for months due to the city's stringent coronavirus regulations. The owner of eSalon, Erica Kious, called Pelosi's actions a "slap in the face," saying her business would likely not survive due to local regulations imposed by Democratic leaders.

The speaker's salon visit — which was first reported by Fox News — drew widespread backlash, but Pelosi was defiant when asked about it on Wednesday, blaming the salon and calling for them to apologize to her.

"I take responsibility for trusting the word of the neighborhood salon that I've been to over the years many times," Pelosi told reporters. "And that when they said 'We're able to accommodate people one person at a time' and that we can set up that time, I trusted that. As it turns out, it was a setup, so I take responsibility for falling for a setup."

She insisted, "I think that this salon owes me an apology, for setting [me] up."
