'I was horrified by what I saw': Video shows 5th-grade girl beating up 7-year-old boy on school bus — and parents are livid

Livid parents are speaking out in regard to a video showing a 5th-grade girl beating up a 7-year-old boy on a school bus in Michigan earlier this month.

What's the background?

WNDU-TV said the March 4 incident between the Ballard Elementary School students took place on the “PM route home" in Niles. The city is in Michigan's southwest corner and is about a half-hour drive from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana.

WSBT noted that the two-minute video is filled with both students hollering profanity at each other, and the boy tried to hit the girl's phone out of her hand, after which the girl jumped up and punched the boy two to three times.

Following continued arguing, the girl punched the boy again for about eight to nine seconds, WSBT said.

WNDU said the video showed the girl "punching the smaller, defenseless male student more than 18 times in the head."

WSBT said multiple parents have expressed concern for their children’s safety — with some alleging other children also have had altercations with the girl in question.

WNDU said it reached out to the apparent parents of the two children but heard back only from the girl's father, who said, “I don’t want to talk to you.” WBND-LD reported that the father indicated that his daughter has been expelled.

Niles Community Schools Superintendent Daniel Applegate said that while there were two adults aboard the bus at the time of the incident — an experienced driver helping a first-time driver with directions and stop locations — they weren't aware of what was going on "due to the noise throughout the bus and their focus on route and drop-offs," WSBT said.

Brittany Ottinger told WNDU her son was sitting next to the boy the girl was hitting and that her son's "head got pushed up against the window,” after which he ended up with a bruised eye.

“He was terrified to go back to school," Ottinger added to WNDU. She also told the station she wasn't informed about the incident until days later.

“I didn’t want to send him back to school, but I had no choice," Ottinger also told WNDU. "And I felt bad as a mom for encouraging him to go back to school."

Niles police are investigating the incident and working with the bus garage and the school system, WNDU added.

Parents speak out

Parents gathered Wednesday to speak about the incident and what they say is a bullying epidemic at the school that isn't being addressed, WBND reported.

T.J. Camp, the father of the boy who was repeatedly hit by the girl, said his children won't be returning to Ballard Elementary, the administration's statements aren't true, and his family is considering legal options, the station reported.

“I was horrified by what I saw," Camp said, according to WBND. "The school told me there were two adults on the bus, a driver, and a monitor. As you can see in the video, nothing was done to stop the attack on my child."

Cops say mom entered school bus, got physical with 9-year-old, told her kid to beat up child; bullying reportedly an issue

Police in Georgia said a 28-year-old mother of four entered a school bus last week, made physical contact with a 9-year-old, and told her own kid to beat up another child.

What are the details?

Tenisha Barber told WSB-TV she was waiting for her child’s school bus to arrive when she saw Roshaunda Qualls get on the bus on Mount Zion Parkway in Clayton County last Thursday.

“She came up, and she got on the bus,” Barber added to the station.

Court documents say Qualls recklessly interfered with the operation of a school bus when she made intentional contact with the 9-year-old, WSB reported.

Barber told the station she doesn’t condone Qualls' actions but understands: “She was trying to defend her child 'cause her child was getting bullied."

However, another parent said Qualls’ child was doing the bullying, WSB reported.

A judge ordered Qualls and her child to stay away from the other child, the station said: “You’re not to enter a Clayton County school bus, particularly bus number 36."

One woman remarked to WSB: “It’s just crazy. Things are just getting more and more out of hand.”

New charges

Police arrested Qualls again after she bonded out on the initial charges, WSB reported in a separate story.

Officers said Qualls, 28, encouraged her child to beat another child on the bus, the station said, adding that the judge said Qualls used abusive language and attempted to strike a child with her right hand.

Police told WSB Qualls entered the school bus outside the Carrington Park apartments near Jonesboro and caused mayhem.

Now Qualls faces a charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in addition to her initial charges of battery, third-degree child cruelty, and disrupting the operation of a public school, the station said.

“When another child has been instigated by their parent to fight, I think that’s wrong because it’s not Christian-like,” one woman told WSB.

But the station added that Qualls’ attorney, Dennis Scheib, said during a hearing that the incident "wasn’t something [Qualls] started."

“She sees everybody fighting, and the door was closed," Scheib said, according to WSB. "So she got on there, and it was a mess."

After her first arrest last Thursday, Qualls — a mother of four — was released on a $7,000 bond, the station said. Following her second arrest, WSB said her attorney asked the judge for a $5,000 bond, but the judge set the bond at $10,000.

License-less driver who almost hit girl exiting school bus is in US illegally, drove to ICE office after arrest: Officials

It was bad enough that a van driver nearly hit a girl who was about to exit a school bus last week in Pittstown, New York — and then hit another vehicle before veering off Route 7 and crashing into trees, WRGB-TV reported.

It gets worse.

Turns out that the motorist in question has no driver's license, is in the U.S. illegally — and after his arrest and release on an appearance ticket, he actually drove himself to an ICE office to turn himself in, officials told WNYT-TV.

Say what?

Angel Pandiguana Pachar, 22, was charged with reckless endangerment and reckless driving, WNYT reported, adding that despite investigators saying he's in the country illegally and has no driver's license, Pachar was released on an appearance ticket.

Rensselaer County Sheriff Kyle Bourgault told WNYT that he spoke with ICE and confirmed that Pachar turned himself in to the agency and was being held in Batavia, New York.

What's more, Pachar drove himself to the ICE office, WNYT said, citing authorities.

Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin told WNYT that "if it was up to us, he’d still be sitting in jail. But we are bound by the laws of this state, and the laws of this state are a mess.”

McLaughlin added to WNYT that "we are still amazed [Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul] has not made a statement condemning this incident on Route 7 and acknowledging the life of a young girl was nearly taken because of failed open borders and bail reform policies."

The county executive wasn't through expressing his outrage, as WNYT noted McLaughlin issued formal statement on the matter:

“This is a failure of law, as demonstrated by the information we received that the illegal migrant ignored the fact he had no driver’s license and drove himself to a required appearance with ICE at the local office. It shows a disregard for the safety of others and a disregard for our laws. This is a clear risk to public safety and the failed open borders and bail reform policies need to be repealed immediately."

WNYT noted that Pachar is due in Pittstown Town Court Thursday evening, but it's unlikely he'll appear in court if ICE is holding him.

Anything else?

Just before the 12-year-old girl was about to get off the school bus, Brunswick-Brittonkill bus driver Barry Sullivan stopped her from going out, WNYT said.

7th-grader hailed as hero for bringing school bus to a stop after the driver passed out: 'Just another day'

Michigan seventh-grader Dillon Reeves is being hailed as a hero after saving a busload of his peers from peril.

While delivering children from Carter Middle School back to their respective homes on Wednesday, a school bus driver "became lightheaded and lost consciousness while the bus was traveling on Masonic Boulevard near Bunert Road," said Warren Consolidated School District superintendent Robert Livernois in a statement.

Although not yet old enough for a driver's license, Reeves proved he wasn't too young to save the day.

According to the district, upon seeing the "driver in distress," Reeves advanced to the front of the bus and took charge. The seventh-grader then successfully brought the bus to a stop "without incident."

WJBK-TV reported that the Warren Police and Fire Departments responded quickly and tended to the driver, who was then taken to a hospital.

The children were ultimately taken home on another bus.

Livernois said, "The actions of the student who helped stop the bus made all the difference today, and I could not be prouder of his efforts."

Ireta Reeves, Dillon's stepmom, thanked the Warren police officers and firefighters who responded to the incident and stressed on Facebook, "As parents we couldn't be anymore proud of our son."

"Saved all the kids, a car and house it could have hit in its path!! He is the Local HERO!!" said the proud stepmother, adding, "Jesus had everything to do with the bravery and swift action Dillon displayed today. To Dillon, it’s just another day. He has no idea the amount of people who are so proud of him today."

Warren City Councilman Jonathan Lafferty praised Reeves' quick thinking, writing, "The City of Warren is very proud of our 7th Grade Hero Dillon Reeves! This young man jumped into action when his school bus driver experienced a medical emergency, bringing the bus to a stop and avoiding what could have been a very tragic accident. We are very proud of you for your heroic actions!"

Nude Florida man arrested after wild chase in stolen school bus with a dead deer in the back

Pennsylvania police arrested a Florida man driving a stolen school bus with a dead deer in the back following a wild, multi-county pursuit, multiple outlets reported.

"Not only is it a felony because it’s a vehicle but the new part you add into it now, were there any children inside? Did the male stop to pick up any children?" Carroll Township Police Department's Chief Thomas Wargo told WPMT. "None of that was known at the time."

"The cop was blocking both lanes and then when it opened up a little bit, I was filming and was able to see the bus going over the embankment there and hoping there were no kids in it," Jodi Leininger, a witness to part of the dangerous chase, told the outlet.

No children were aboard the bus and no one was injured during the chase, Chief Wargo also said.

Tony Jay Saunders, a 25-year-old man from Port Saint Lucie, Florida, was charged with fleeing an officer, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, and reckless driving, CBS News reported.

CTPD officers received a call at about 7:10 a.m. Tuesday regarding a bus that had been reported stolen from Abbottstown, Pennsylvania. Patrol officers spotted the bus driving through a Giant Foods and Rite Aid parking lot and said the lights on the bus were intermittently flicking on and off.

Authorities caught up with the stolen bus near the Mechanicsburg/Bowmansdale exit on Route 15, where they attempted a traffic stop.

After eventually pulling over, the bus "nearly immediately" pulled away. The driver then exited the highway and drove over a berm, nearly overturning the bus in the process, police said.

The driver then turned into a nearby neighborhood in Lower Allen Township. Police say he abandoned the bus and fled on foot into a wooded area.

Bystanders told police the man was wearing a black sweatshirt and provided addition physical description. The fleeing man led police through parking lots and a busy traffic area, police also said.

As he fled, he stripped his clothing. After being apprehended in the nude, he reportedly admitted to police that he had taken the bus earlier in the day after crashing a BMW.

Saunders told police he planned to use the dead deer he put in the back of the bus to fertilize his garden.

Saunders was held at the York County Prison following his arrest, according to KATV.

E! News reported that California Highway Patrol confirmed to the outlet that an 18-year-old male died after being struck by a school bus on Friday but did not name the deceased individual. The outlet said that the CHP report indicated that the vehicle entered the intersection with a green traffic light as the individual rode a scooter into a crosswalk "traveling directly into the path of the oncoming bus."

"The driver of the bus was unable to stop in time," the report noted, "and hit the 18-year-old male, causing fatal injuries."

New video shows moment leftist political candidate threatens to blow up school bus — and when cop comes aboard and threatens to blow her away

Stunning new video the Post Millennial said it exclusively obtained shows the moment when a woman — who's running for office in Washington state — entered a school bus full of kids in January 2010 and threatened to blow it up.

The clip also shows the cop who came to the rescue by boarding the bus, pulling his gun, and threatening to blow away Ubax Gardheere if she persisted.

What are the details?

TheBlaze previously reported that Gardheere — who's director of the Equitable Development Division in Seattle's Office of Planning and Community Development and is running for the King County Council — came about the bus headed to Chinook Middle School and told the driver and the children that she may have a bomb and a gun.

"When students attempted to escape out the back of the bus, [Gardheere] called them cowards and told them they would be responsible if something happened to their classmates," deputy prosecutor Gretchen Holmgren later wrote to the King County court.

Gardheere was hit with felony charges of kidnapping but worked out a plea deal with prosecutors to brings things down to the misdemeanor level. Weeks after the incident, Gardheere told the Seattle Weekly she was suffering from postpartum depression after the birth of her son three years earlier.

What does the video show?

Video of the terrifying incident confirms much of what authorities noted. It starts with Gardheere leaning against the bus' dashboard as children board it and telling the driver, "You can't leave."

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @MrAndyNgo

Soon Gardheere is walking down the aisle and yelling at the kids, one of whom apparently questioned if she was truly armed. "How do you know?" she yelled. "I'm Muslim, I'm covered — I might have a bomb."

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @MrAndyNgo

She also told the young frightened passengers that she also might have a gun.

Then in another part of the clip, terrified students are seen running out of the bus as Gardheere repeatedly yells, "Cowards!"

But the one moment of good news is when a heroic cop comes aboard and puts a stop to things.

"I don't care what you want," he tells Gardheere. "I'm gonna tell you right now these are children on the bus, and I'm gonna ask you to get off the bus right now."

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @MrAndyNgo

Gardheere appears calm enough in the face of authority — and so the cop turns up the heat: "I'm gonna ask you once, and then I'm gonna take you off the bus."

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @MrAndyNgo

With that, he pulls his gun and points it right at Gardheere.

"If you choose not to get off the bus I'm gonna drop you right here as we stand, do you understand that?" he tells Gardheere, who proves a quick study and raises her hands skyward.

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @MrAndyNgo

With that, he hollers at Gardheere to turn around and back up. After she exclaims that she's "prepared to die," the cop wasn't having any of it.

"I don't care whether you're prepared to die or not," he answers. "I'm about prepared to kill ya, how's that?"

— Andy Ngô (@MrAndyNgo) 1625201975.0

Gardheere had no weapons in her possession at the time of her arrest.

Anything else?

The Post Millennial said it isn't clear if what Gardheere did 11 years ago is known to individuals within the Democratic Party who've backed her candidacy.

State Senator Rebecca Saldana said "I will follow Ubax anywhere," and former Seattle City Council member and radical activist Mike O'Brien called Gardheere "an amazing leader," the outlet said.

More from the Post Millennial:

In a recent interview with the South Seattle Emerald, Gardheere revised her own history and claimed that when she threatened school children with a bomb on a bus she was being criminalized for mental health issues.

"It means being a brand new mother and going through postpartum depression and then actually having a mental breakdown and being criminalized for that, instead of getting the mental health [support] that I needed."

This conflicts not only with the court documents and police reports of the incident but also with her own statements years earlier to The Seattle Weekly. "I'm thinking in my head, 'what can I say or do that will get you taken to jail instead of a mental institute?'"

Trainee flees Fort Jackson, hijacks school bus full of kids using Army-issued rifle, officials say

An Army trainee went AWOL from Fort Jackson, South Carolina, on Thursday morning, and used his government-issued rifle to commandeer a school bus full of kids, officials say.

None of the 18 children on board were physically harmed in the incident, nor was the driver of the bus — who was held at gunpoint by the hijacker. The suspect, Pvt. Jovan Collazo, has been arrested.

What are the details?

Fort Jackson base commander Brig. Gen. Milford Beagle Jr. told the media that Collazo, 23, disappeared from his unit around 7 a.m., and it appears he scaled a barbed wired-topped fence in his escape from the fort.

Task & Purpose reported that Collazo "took his Army-issued M4 carbine, but he did not have any ammunition at the time because he was till in the early stages of basic training."

Collazo made it to nearby Highway 77, but after failing to hitchhike further away from the South Carolina post, he decided to take over a school bus during a stop.

"After all the kids got on the bus, the trainee got on the bus dressed in his PT clothes and with a rifle and told the bus driver he didn't want to hurt him but he wanted him to drive to the next town," said Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott during a news conference. "So the bus driver started driving."

Lott described what has been deduced so far from investigating the incident:

"The trainee brought the kids to the front of the bus. The kids started asking lots of questions to the suspect, if he was going to hurt them or the bus driver. The suspect got a little frustrated. The bus was stopped close to where we are standing right now and that's when the kids and the bus driver got off the bus."

Collazo then drove the bus a few miles down the road before ditching the bus and his weapon. He was arrested soon after.

Anything else?

ABC News later reported that Collazo has been charged with 19 counts of kidnapping, armed robbery, carjacking, and other charges.

Collazo had arrived at Fort Jackson in mid-April and was in the third week of basic training, according to a Fort Jackson statement.

Sheriff Lott credited the bus driver for keeping his cool and thinking of the best interest of the children in his care during the terrifying situation, saying of the driver, "I will tell you: His main concern was the safety of those kids and he did his job."
