Video shows Seattle police retreat from unruly mob that stopped cops from breaking up illegal street-racing gathering where 4 people were shot

Dashcam video shows an unruly crowd attacking a police cruiser in Seattle, Washington. The chaotic mob prevented police from breaking up an illegal street-racing gathering in the area where four people were shot — one fatally.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers from the Seattle Police Department responded to reports of a large crowd assembling at the intersection of Broadway and E Pike Street. The crowd gathered to watch an illegal street race and cars do reckless donuts.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were "met with resistance."

Police dashcam footage shows the disorderly crowd hurling items at the police vehicle. Individuals were seen on video jumping on the hood of the police cruiser and dancing.

The police cruiser began to back away from the crowd. Some people constructed a makeshift barricade in the middle of the street with bicycles and traffic barriers. Several rioters threw objects that struck the police cruiser.

As the officer with the Seattle Police Department retreated, the horde stalked the cruiser.

At the end of the dashcam video, a firework is seen being launched in the distance.

Capitol Hill Seattle Blog reported, "Around 2:46 a.m., property damage was reported in the area but officers were told not to engage — 'Only going in for life safety, no property damage.'"

The crowd reportedly grew to roughly 200 people as cars performed donuts in the street.

The Seattle Police Department said in a statement, "Shortly before 4:00 a.m., officers heard gunfire and located two victims at the intersection of Broadway and E Pike Street. Police performed life-saving measures on both subjects until Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived."

Four people were shot early Sunday morning in the Capitol Hill area — where the street-racing action took place. A woman died from her gunshot wounds, according to Newsweek.

The three other shooting victims were reportedly in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

"Officers located several shell casings, but no suspect," police said.

No arrests were made in connection to the shootings.

The Seattle City Council passed legislation on Tuesday with the intent to reduce drag racing and dangerous driving, according to KOMO.

"Our community has been pleading for help for years to stop drag racing," said Councilmember Lisa Herbold — who chairs the Public Safety Committee and sponsored the legislation. "This month's crash on Alki Avenue Southwest shows just how dangerous conditions have become. I'm proud to have partnered with neighbors and pass this first-of-its-kind legislation to make our streets safer."

The city will install speed-enforcement cameras where there is dangerous driving often reported. However, Capitol Hill is not on the list of areas that will get security cameras.

Violence erupts in American cities on anniversary of Breonna Taylor's death

There were several protests in American cities on Saturday, which was the one-year anniversary of Breonna Taylor's death. Some of the peaceful protests escalated into unrest and violence.

In Louisville, crowds gathered to call for justice for Taylor, who was shot and killed by a Louisville Metro Police Department officer when a raid turned deadly after her boyfriend Kenneth Walker exchanged gunfire in the early hours of March 13, 2020. The LMPD declared an unlawful assembly after protesters were "blocking the roadway and forcing vehicles, while armed, to turn around."

While the protests in Louisville were peaceful, the same can not be said for Seattle, Portland, and Los Angeles.

In Seattle, video from Campus Reform senior correspondent Blair Nelson shows black bloc malcontents clash with police officers.

In Portland, where unrest has happened regularly for months, there were several acts of violence on Saturday night. Protesters marched towards the Mark O. Hatfield U.S. Courthouse, which is where rioters set fires on Thursday. Vandals spray-painted "police are murderers" on the federal courthouse. Rioters attempted to knock down the plywood boards protecting the courthouse in video provided by KOIN-TV reporter Jennifer Dowling.

President Joe Biden tweeted about the Breonna Taylor death on Saturday.

"Breonna Taylor's death was a tragedy, a blow to her family, her community, and America," Biden wrote. "As we continue to mourn her, we must press ahead to pass meaningful police reform in Congress. I remain committed to signing a landmark reform bill into law."

Biden called Antifa an "idea" during the 2020 presidential debate in September.

VIDEO: Rioter hits Seattle police officer in back of head with metal baseball bat, explosives thrown at cops

Following Wednesday's decision by a grand jury not to indict police officers on homicide charges in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor in Kentucky, cities across the country erupted in protests and violence, including St. Petersburg, Portland, and Louisville, where two police officers were shot. In Seattle, riots erupted that included a vicious baseball bat attack on a police officer.

A shocking video from Wednesday night's riots in Seattle shows a man dressed in all black violently smash a police officer in the back of the head with a metal baseball bat. The police officer was wearing a helmet, which may have saved his life.

The officer was attempting to wrest his bicycle back from a person in the crowd. The masked rioter sneaks up on the officer while he is distracted and steps into a swinging attack with the metal bat that hits the cop in the back of the helmet. The officer was able to keep his footing after being bashed in the head and escaped the violent mob.

The Seattle Police Department also noted that an individual threw an explosive at law enforcement officers at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Wednesday night. The incendiary device "exploded near waiting bike officers."

When cops attempted to arrest the suspect, they were assaulted with glass bottles and rocks from the crowd of rioters. Police said they "deployed pepper spray and blast balls in an attempt to create space between the officers and the protestors."

Agitators also cut wires powering the security cameras to the precinct and set dumpsters on fire, and more explosives were thrown at officers. Seattle Police declared the ongoing protest an unlawful assembly after several fireworks were fired at police.

The Seattle police said they arrested 13 individuals. Charges include property destruction, resisting arrest, failure to disperse, and assault on an officer.

Glenn Beck: We've CROSSED the threshold into a strange new era — and 'there's no bridge ahead'

Over the years, Glenn Beck has issued warning after warning about coming situations that eventually came true: unrest in Europe that would spread to America, the formation of a caliphate in the Middle East, the Fed's growing and dangerous powers, a repeat of the 1960s violence, the Bubba Effect, and more.

Now, after another weekend of violence, chaos, and political divide, Glenn has another warning: a new era is here. We've crossed the threshold God placed before us. We've passed all the exits, and there's no bridge ahead. As Judeo-Christian principles continue to face attack after attack, we must double our efforts to slow down the spread of this evil.

"What I'm here to do is to sound the trumpet. To warn you of what is just over the horizon, that no one else will tell you. [...] You know things aren't OK. They aren't normal. Many of us have this feeling that we're headed towards something — something not good. It's natural with something as precious as freedom and liberty. There's a high price tag on that. And when you actually possess it, it makes sense that there would be some sort of warning or alarm bell on it, that would go off, when our rights are being stolen," Glenn stated.

"If you felt any of these things, I want you to know this: One, you're right, it's not your imagination. Whether you're on the left or right, it's not your imagination. Something is very wrong. Two, you're not alone. You are not the only one feeling this. And, three, this is the difficult beginning of a new era. It's not the end of the world, but it is a new era," he added.

"For many years, I have told you about the warning signs and pointed out the exits along the way. But if you look back in your rearview mirror, you're going to see something falling behind the horizon. That's the last exit. That's the bridge that is out. That is the threshold. The twilight of the common era," he said. "I hope to God I'm wrong. And there's a good chance that I am. But, I believe that we are now squarely in the days the Bible foretold. I told you there would come a time when we passed all the exits. And we're there. We need to fight to slow down the chaos. We need to do everything we can to slow chaos down."

Seattle rioters tried to seal police officers inside precinct with cement and set the building on fire

Anti-police rioters in Seattle attempted to trap officers inside a precinct by sealing the door with cement and setting the building on fire, KTTH reported.

Unrest in Seattle has been on going since late May, when George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis Police Department officers, but it may have been further inflamed by the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Video of the Blake shooting went viral over the weekend.

According to KTTH, some protesters brought quick-dry cement to the Seattle Police Department's East Precinct. As other rioters vandalized the building, some of them mixed up a cement solution and applied it to the door, as well as destroying the key card reader on the door.

At the same time, some of the rioters tried to set the building on fire with officers inside, with the apparent intention of burning the officers alive. Fortunately, they weren't very good at mixing up concrete. From Jason Rantz of KTTH:

A source tells me the officers inside had to kick the door open to exit the building and disperse the rioters. Luckily, already lacking discernible skills, the rioters did not follow directions and may have used too much water in the cement mixture. Photos indicate it too runny to fully seal the doorway shut.

Seattle police have been targeted with intense protests for months, including several weeks when protesters occupied nine blocks of the city surrounding the East Precinct in what was called the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.

At the wishes of the protesters, the Seattle City Council voted 7-1 to cut the police budget so severely that it could cause the department to lose 100 officers. The vote spurred Chief Carmen Best to submit her resignation. Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, who was supportive of the anti-police protests, vetoed that cut.

From the Seattle Times:

Durkan described the council's cuts to police as imprudent, saying they had "no plan for how the city will bridge gaps in the police response that will be caused if we lose 100 police officers" and "no plans for how the city will address encampments or RVs that pose a public safety risk."

She also objected to cutting the salaries of SPD's command staff.
