Heart-pounding bodycam video shows police neutralizing Tennessee man wielding knives who allegedly tried to rob armored truck

Intense police bodycam video shows the moment a Tennessee cop neutralized a man wielding knives and aggressively charging at the officer. The man involved in the deadly police shooting reportedly attempted to rob an armored truck and a deli.

The Murfreesboro Police Department released bodycam footage of an officer-involved shooting of a man accused of two attempted robberies.

A Murfreesboro Police Department officer responded to a "strong-armed robbery" of an armored truck at 9:13 p.m. on Tuesday.

Murfreesboro Police Department spokesperson Larry Flowers said the suspect approached the armed vehicle employee, who was at an ATM. The suspect allegedly attempted to rob the employee but then fled after the armored truck worker produced a gun. The man allegedly ran into a nearby restaurant.

According to the police, the suspect also attempted to rob Jason's Deli in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Employees at the deli informed WKRN-TV that the suspect – identified as Steven James Murphy of Murfreesboro – entered the restaurant and calmly told them, "I'm here for the money."

Workers said the robbery suspect then allegedly began chasing the employees before they fled outside the deli.

Heart-pounding bodycam video shows the officer rushing into the deli, where the suspect was behind the counter. When the officer confronts the man, he charges at the cop with knives raised in both of his hands.

The officer desperately commands the knife-wielding man, "Drop it! Drop it now!"

Despite the officer's orders, the man continues to sprint toward the cop.

In the bodycam video, three or four shots are heard being fired by the police officer.

The officer requests EMS for the injured suspect.

The man is lying on the floor, and two knives are seen near him.

"Don't move," the officer instructs the suspect.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital. The 44-year-old man later died from his injuries.

The officer, armored truck worker, and six employees in the deli were not injured, according to Flowers.

The officer involved in the shooting – five-year veteran Adam Claiborne – was placed on routine administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigation into the fatal shooting.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation into the deadly police shooting.

"At this time, this investigation remains active and ongoing," the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement. "TBI agents are working to independently determine the series of events leading to the shooting, including collecting evidence and conducting interviews. Throughout the process, investigative findings will be shared with the District Attorney General for his further review and consideration.

Video: Delivery driver found not guilty in shooting of YouTube prankster in mall food court

A jury found a delivery driver not guilty in the shooting of a YouTube prankster in a mall food court in Virginia.

On Thursday, a jury acquitted Alan Colie, 31, of aggravated malicious wounding and malicious shooting inside an occupied building in the shooting of 21-year-old Tanner Cook. The jury found Colie guilty of using a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Colie pleaded not guilty and said he was acting in self-defense. Colie has a license to carry a concealed weapon.

Since the April shooting, Colie has been incarcerated and will remain in jail. Colie is due back in court on Oct. 19.

On April 2, Cook and another individual approached Colie at the food court in the Dulles Town Center in Sterling, Virginia. Colie, a driver with DoorDash, was picking up a food order. Cook gets in the face of Colie and pushes a phone within inches of the delivery driver. The phone repeatedly plays an audio message: "Hey dips**t, quit thinking about my twinkle."

Video shows Colie retreating from the situation, swatting at the phone, and telling Cook to "stop" on three different occasions. However, Cook continues to pursue him. Suddenly, Colie pulls out a gun and shoots Cook.

As TheBlaze previously reported, Colie shot Cook, and the bullet punctured his stomach and liver. Cook has since been discharged from the hospital.

Prosecutor Eden Holmes said she didn't believe that Colie was in imminent danger and said he didn't act in self-defense.

"They were playing a silly phrase on a phone," Holmes said. "How could the defendant have found that he was reasonably in fear of imminent bodily harm?"

The bizarre encounter was part of a YouTube prank. Cook runs the "Classified Goons" YouTube channel that has more than 50,000 subscribers, and often engages in public confrontations with negative outcomes. The videos include fake vomiting on Uber drivers, taking people's groceries, breaking store merchandise in front of employees, and impersonating security guards.

Cook said he will continue to make "prank" videos on YouTube, which he earns as much as $3,000 a month.

Tanner's father, Jeramy Cook, told WUSA, "Right after this shooting, 'Saturday Night Live' reported on their Weekend Update that a YouTuber doing a prank video at a Virginia mall was shot, then paused, starred into the camera and said, 'Good.' Everyone laughed, so millions of people saw this and just went with it."

The father added, "So is it open season on YouTubers even if they don't touch or talk to you. It's cool to just shoot them no matter what the facts are?"

"Mob is more important than the rule of law," he stated. "This is the real danger for all of us."

Armed Texas man serves up smoking hot justice on assailant who beat elderly patron unconscious at BBQ restaurant: Police

An armed Texas man turned the tables on a violent assailant who beat an elderly patron unconscious at a BBQ restaurant, according to police.

Around noon on Aug. 14, a man entered Woody’s Smokehouse in Centerville, Texas. The man allegedly became aggressive and harassed several customers at the barbecue restaurant, which was caught on surveillance video.

The agitator – later identified by police as Kevin Craig Anderson from Houston – reportedly went to the restaurant's restroom and attacked an elderly man. He beat the old man unconscious and continued to assault him while he was on the floor, according to police.

A man came to the elderly patron's aid, but then Anderson then assaulted the good Samaritan. He too was knocked to the ground and Anderson allegedly continued to batter him. The man who was attacked had a license to carry. The apparent good guy with a gun acted in self-defense and shot Anderson two times, police said. The armed man shot Anderson in the right arm.

The wounded Anderson fled the BBQ restaurant. Police found Anderson in his vehicle on the shoulder of a highway.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office said in a statement: "He was transported by helicopter to St. Joseph emergency room in Bryan and then later transported to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston to be treated for his injuries."

The elderly man was also rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office did not say that the shooter would be charged.

This case is being investigated by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers.

Diana Wood, Woody's Smokehouse co-owner, told KBTX, "Prayers for my team and customers that were involved would be greatly appreciated. We are thankful to law enforcement for the fast service and the capture of the attacker."

"I'm thankful for the blood of Jesus that I pray daily over our team, our customers, our community, and the team of praying employees that unit with me each day in agreement for protection," she continued.

“As we are reflecting, we asked ourselves what could have been the outcome if those prayers and cover was not implemented," Wood said. "Praises to God for the covering of everyone. If I ever had something to preach it would be today and it would be now. Cover your family, your friends, your work, and your school with the blood of Jesus before you walk out of your house each day."

Video shows the moment hero customer guns down robber while holding a six-pack of Miller Lite beer

A wild video shows the moment a convenience store customer shot a robber while holding a six-pack of beer.

Video was released this week of the attempted robbery of a gas station convenience store in the town of Cassopolis in southwest Michigan.

Surveillance video shows a man dressed in black with a black face mask enter the Stone Lake Marathon Mini Mart on July 27.

Police said the suspect announced himself to the clerk by saying, "You know why I’m here."

A customer appeared to be going to the register with a six-pack of Miller Lite just as the suspect went behind the counter to reportedly threaten the store clerk. The convenience store employee puts his hands up as the suspect allegedly threatened him.

At the same time, the customer calmly took out his gun and shot the would-be robber while he was holding the six-pack of Miller Lite beer. The customer – who has a valid concealed carry permit – fired three shots. Moved to the side of the counter and shot three more times. Then he fired the seventh shot at the suspected thief.

The customer reportedly shot the suspect in the arm, back, and face. The alleged robber fell to the ground, and at that time, the customer ran to his car to get another magazine for his gun. The armed customer held the suspect at gunpoint until the police arrived at the crime scene.

The suspected thief did not have a gun during the robbery, but threatened the clerk with a box cutter, according to police.

The armed customer purportedly told police that he couldn't see what weapon was in the robber's hand, but he could see the look of fear on the clerk’s face.

The suspect was identified in court records as 35-year-old Cordelius Anthony Martin. He was released from the hospital on Wednesday.

He was charged with three charges, including armed robbery. Martin is reportedly a three-time felon, which means he could face up to life in prison for the attempted robbery.

He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Meanwhile, the hero customer is waiting to find out if he will face charges for the shooting. Police are still investigating the shooting before deciding to file criminal charges against the beer-toting customer.

Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz told WOOD-TV, "In Michigan, obviously, we do have defense of others as part of the law in Michigan, that you can defend others if they’re in a situation that there’s dangerous force being used against them. And certainly in this case, we’ll be looking at the facts in regard to that."

The store clerk told the news station that the hero customer "saved my life."

New York City man accused of fatally shooting would-be robber slapped with 24 additional gun charges, bail doubled: 'The court is quite concerned with what we see'

A New York City man accused of fatally shooting a would-be robber was hit with an additional 24 gun charges and had his bail doubled. However, the new charges are not directly linked to the deadly shooting.

As TheBlaze previously reported, Charles Foehner was confronted by a man in the Kew Gardens neighborhood of Queens around 2 a.m. on Wednesday. Surveillance video shows the man, 32-year-old Cody Gonzalez, staggering toward Foehner. Gonzalez allegedly demanded money and cigarettes.

Gonzalez allegedly had a pen in his hand, which Foehner mistook as a knife. After several warnings, Foehner purportedly shot and killed Gonzalez with a handgun after Gonzalez lunged at him.

Gonzalez reportedly had at least 15 arrests dating back to 2004 and a record of mental illness.

After turning himself into authorities on Thursday, Foehner was initially charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, and held on $25,000 bail.

However, Foehner was arraigned on Friday and slapped with 26 counts of criminal possession of a weapon, but was not charged in the fatal shooting. His bail was also doubled to $50,000.

Police executed a search warrant of Foehner's apartment and discovered roughly two dozen firearms.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph Randazzo said police found "approximately 26 firearms, including pistols, shotguns, rifles, an AK 47, two body armor vests and multiple rounds of ammunition" at Foehner's home.

Foehner has a license for five rifles, but not for the handguns, including the one used in the alleged self-defense shooting.

The 65-year-old retired doorman allegedly told authorities that he was armed with the illegal handgun to protect himself because crime rates have skyrocketed in New York City.

"Last night I was carrying a firearm because of the way the city has been for the last three years," Foehner reportedly told investigators. "I read the crime stats and I see so much crime. I had the pistol. I obtained it in a bar one night.”

Foehner said he had the gun since the 1990s. He added that he also collects firearms as a hobby, but didn't have permits for most of the firearms that he owns.

However, the judge had zero sympathy for the alleged mugging victim.

"The defendant was on the street with a loaded, unlicensed gun," Judge Jerry Iannece said in Queens Criminal Court. "There are too many shootings in this city! The court is quite concerned with what we see."

Foehner’s lawyer, Margaret Lin, pleaded with the judge to release her client without bail. She contended that Foehner is a deli worker with no criminal record who “lives steps away " from the courthouse, and is not a flight risk.

"This incident is a total aberration in his life," Lin told the court. "He is the one who called the police immediately after the robbery, where he is the victim."

However, Iannece decided to double Foehner's bail.

” Lannece said, "What is concerning to the court is the large arsenal of weaponry found in his apartment… in the city of New York, where there are many, way too many shootings."

Foehner faces up to 25 years in prison on the top charge of criminal possession of a firearm in the first degree, according to the New York Post.

Foehner is scheduled to return to court on June 5.

Would-be robber shot in the neck by pregnant mother defending her family during 7-year-old daughter's birthday celebration: Police

A pregnant woman bravely defended her family from a would-be robber by shooting the assailant in the head and the neck during a special visit to Arkansas, according to police.

A family from Mississippi celebrated their daughter's seventh birthday by making a trip to Little Rock, Arkansas. The family marked the special day by visiting the zoo and a waterpark on Memorial Day. However, the jubilant celebration took a violent turn for the worse around noon when the family was attacked with their two children nearby.

While loading their vehicle in the River Market parking garage, a man allegedly assaulted and tackled the father from behind. The father suffered a fractured rib.

The assailant purportedly then punched the mother — who was in the front seat of the car. According to police reports, the pregnant woman pulled out a gun and shot the would-be robber. The 25-year-old mother shot the perpetrator in the head and the neck, according to the police report.

Police responded to the shooting. Upon their arrival, they found the alleged assailant on the ground near the vehicle, and he was rushed to a local hospital. The man is said to be in critical condition and still in the hospital.

The Little Rock Police Department identified Markevious King, 37, as the man who suffered a gunshot wound.

The pregnant woman told police that she shot the man in self-defense.

“Ah, just a fractured rib, and my wife has a couple of knots on her forehead where he apparently punched her,” the father said in an interview with KARK-TV.

“A lot of things could’ve happened and we never know what he was really planning or anything, or if he was trying to kidnap our girls or just trying to steal the car or what,” he added.

The husband noted that they were prepared for violence because they live near crime-stricken Memphis.

"We live near Memphis, and this kind of happens to people here all the time. So, I mean, it’s not something we are going to let shine down or shadow down on our lives because we do like to travel," he said.

The pregnant woman who shot King and saved her family has not had any charges filed against her, according to police.

New Mexico business owner shoots, kills alleged robber who tunneled his way through store's wall

A small business owner in New Mexico shot and killed an alleged robber who tunneled his way into the store through a wall. The store owner said he acted in self-defense because he feared for his life.

A business owner recently purchased a smoke shop in the Albuquerque neighborhood the International District. The smoke shop hasn't opened yet, but the store has been broken into twice before. The business owner was concerned about another burglary, so he slept inside the store overnight.

Around 3 a.m. on Saturday, the business owner was awakened by scratching noises. The shop owner realized that a would-be burglar had dug a tunnel into the outside wall of the building. After about an hour of tunneling through the store wall, the alleged robber made his way through a small hole in the wall and knocked down several cases of energy drinks while stumbling into the smoke shop.

The business owner grabbed his gun and claimed that he instructed the alleged robber to vacate the premises. However, the suspect purportedly started waving a large hammer and an axe or a chisel. The shop owner said he feared for his life as the intruder walked toward him.

The owner alleged that he threatened to shoot the man if he kept approaching him and didn't exit the store. The owner said the man continued to swing the tools, so he shot the would-be robber. The shooting killed the alleged intruder.

The business owner then called the police to report the shooting. The Albuquerque Police Department said the alleged robber, who has yet to be identified, had "burglary tools" in his possession.

The Albuquerque Police Department classified the shooting as a "justifiable homicide." The business owner was released from the crime scene after being interviewed by detectives.

"Detectives are working with the District Attorney’s Office as they continue to investigate the business owner's claims of self-defense," the Albuquerque Police Department said in a statement.

The owner has since boarded up the hole that was created by the would-be intruder. The shop owner told KOB that he is installing more security cameras to deter future robberies.

Armed robbers target Connecticut clothing store, clerk packing 2 guns sends would-be thief home in a body bag

Robbers were targeting a Connecticut clothing store, but they did not anticipate that the clerk would be packing two guns and ready to use them in self-defense.

Two would-be thieves attempted to rob the Humble & Paid Co. clothing store in East Hartford around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, according to police. The two individuals were allegedly wearing black ski masks.

physical confrontation occurred between the suspects and a store clerk. During the struggle, a suspect pulled out a gun and shot the clerk in the back.

Police said the store clerk returned fire with one of his two legally registered firearms during the armed robbery. The clerk reportedly fired several rounds from his gun and struck one of the suspects multiple times.

The wounded suspect was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The man was identified as 26-year-old Jashar Haslam of Hartford.

The clothing store clerk was treated for his gunshot wound at the crime scene and taken to a hospital. The clerk's injuries are considered not to be life-threatening, according to WVIT.

Despite police responding within minutes, the second suspect fled, and law enforcement has yet to locate the would-be thief.

East Hartford Police Department officer Marc Caruso said, "They will be talking to witnesses, they'll be going through a significant amount of camera footage, both our town's cameras, the store's cameras, neighboring businesses' cameras. There's still a lot of work to be done. It's our Downtown East Hartford area, so it's probably the most densely populated area. It's a high-traffic area."

Caruso said of the armed robbery, "As of right now, it seems to be an isolated incident."

Navdeep Singh, manager of the neighboring Bruno's Liquor store, said of East Hartford, "It's a very decent area, don't get me wrong besides from this. This is like the first time that I know anything like this happened here."

The Heritage Foundation's Defensive Gun Use Tracker, which catalogs occurrences of legal gun owners using firearms in self-defense, noted that the clerk used both of his guns.

"This man used BOTH guns. Unclear if he engaged in a shootout and ran out of ammo in the first gun, or if he double-fisted two handguns at the same time," the Defensive Gun Use Tracker said of the shooting on Twitter.
