Biden FBI's Arctic Frost surveillance of lawmakers could cost the government, thanks to 'real teeth' measure in funding bill

Republican lawmakers officially passed their funding bill to reopen the government on Monday night. In addition to getting the ball rolling on reopening the government, their bill sets the stage for possible retribution over the Biden FBI's Arctic Frost operation.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) published damning documents last month regarding the Biden FBI's Operation Arctic Frost, an investigation that ultimately morphed into former special counsel Jack Smith's federal case against President Donald Trump regarding the 2020 election.

'Arctic Frost was a grotesque abuse of power. It was Joe Biden's Watergate.'

The documents revealed that the bureau not only subpoenaed records for over 400 Republican individuals and entities but secretly obtained the private phone records of numerous Republican lawmakers as part of what the Iowa senator called a "fishing expedition."

According to the Grassley, those behind Arctic Frost "were spreading a wide net because they were looking for anything they could to hook on Trump, put Trump in prison, keep him from running for president, and things of that nature."

The funding bill passed by the Senate this week contains a provision that would enable any senator whose phone records were "acquired, subpoenaed, searched, accessed or disclosed" without his or her knowledge to file a civil lawsuit against the government inside the next five years for at least $500,000 plus legal fees for each instance of a violation.

Senators would be able to take legal action if at the time their records were seized, they were a target of a criminal investigation; a federal judge issued an order authorizing a delay of notice to the senator in question; the government complied with the judge's order; and the subpoena was faithfully executed.

The provision, which is retroactive to 2022, notes that "no officer, employee, or agent of the United States or of any Federal department or agency shall be entitled to assert any form of absolute or qualified immunity as a defense to liability" in relation to such violations.

"It's designed to put real teeth into federal law that prohibits the executive branch from surveilling the Senate," Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) — whose Senate office hard-line and cellphone records were reportedly targetedtold the Daily Caller. "Arctic Frost was a grotesque abuse of power. It was Joe Biden's Watergate."

"[It’s] a common-sense provision to ensure that no Department of Justice — Democrat or Republican — ever does that again," added Cruz, who confirmed to Politico that Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) was "directly" responsible for the inclusion of the provision.

Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) told the Daily Caller the provision serves to protect against "a weaponization of government against members of the Senate" and stressed that "senators are going to take responsible action, and that's what we've done here."

Democrat lawmakers complained about the measure.

"I'm shocked that a huge change in policy would be dropped into a bill at the last minute, and the first that most senators learn about it is in the press," Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) told the Caller. "This is one more way in which the bill that passed the Senate tonight is even worse for the American people."

Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) similarly clutched pearls over the provision, telling Politico, "I am furious that the Senate minority and majority leaders chose to airdrop this provision into this bill at the eleventh hour — with zero consultation or negotiation with the subcommittee that actually oversees this work."

Nexstar keeps Kimmel off the air despite Elizabeth Warren's incessant whining

Disney's ABC may not have the stomach or the desire to stand up to the liberal mob, but there evidently remain some organizations that do.

Nexstar Media Group — a Texas-headquartered media company that owns hundreds of televisions stations, including 32 stations affiliated with Disney's ABC television network — infuriated liberals on Sept. 17 with its announcement that it would cease carrying "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" for the foreseeable future.

'This censorship of Kimmel reeks of corruption.'

Nexstar, like the Sinclair Broadcast Group, which similarly pre-empted the poorly performing show, cited as cause Kimmel's desperate attempt to suggest that the homosexual leftist arrested for allegedly assassinating Charlie Kirk supported MAGA.

"We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it," Kimmel said on September 15.

While ABC subsequently announced that it was suspending the show, it caved amid backlash from Hollywood script readers, Democrats, and liberal activists. Nexstar and Sinclair, however, stood their ground, prompting even more apoplexy on the left.

Several hours after Nexstar announced on Tuesday that it was standing by its initial decision "pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve," Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren claimed that the company's programming decision constituted censorship.

The failed presidential candidate tweeted, "Two companies — Nexstar and Sinclair — control hundreds of local TV stations and have business deals pending Donald Trump's approval. They won't air Kimmel tonight."

Warren insinuated that Nexstar is trying to appease President Donald Trump and his allies to ensure that its planned $6.2 billion purchase of Tegna, a competitor that owns 13 ABC affiliate stations, receives approval from the Federal Communications Commission.

"This censorship of Kimmel reeks of corruption," Warren said.

Democratic Sens. Ed Markey (Mass.), Chris Van Hollen (Md.), and Ron Wyden (Ore.) joined Warren in penning a letter to both Perry Sook, chairman of Nexstar, and Sinclair CEO Christopher Ripley on Tuesday, whining about the companies' decision to take Kimmel's show off the air.

"If you suspended a late-night comedian's show in part to seek regulatory favors from the administration, you have not only assisted the administration in eroding First Amendment freedoms but also create the appearance of a possible quid-pro-quo arrangement that could implicate federal anti-corruption laws," the Democrats' letter reads.

"If Nexstar or Sinclair traded the censorship of a critic of the administration for official acts by the Trump administration, your companies are not only complicit in an alarming trampling of free speech rights but also risk running afoul of federal law," the letter continues.

The Democratic lawmakers' concern-mongering wasn't enough to make Nexstar fall in line.

In a statement shared with Blaze News early Wednesday afternoon, the company noted, "Nexstar is continuing to evaluate the status of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on our ABC-affiliated local television stations, and the show will be pre-empted while we do so."

"We are engaged in productive discussions with executives at the Walt Disney Company, with a focus on ensuring the program reflects and respects the diverse interests of the communities we serve," the company added.

Sen. Fetterman breaks ranks, admits the truth about Democrats' radical position on the anti-ICE riots

Numerous Democratic politicians have in recent days returned to their summer 2020 strategy of characterizing violent leftist riots as peaceful protest and President Donald Trump's desire to restore order as both escalatory and authoritarian.

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, among the standouts in his party who previously refused to join progressives in attacking Israel in the wake of the 2023 Hamas terrorist attacks, proved willing once again to call out his colleagues for their radical approach.

The trend

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents executed a number of lawful operations last week in California. Democrats were quick to demonize the federal agents and frame their operations as illegitimate.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, for instance, accused ICE agents of sowing "terror" and stressed that the city would "not stand for this."

California U.S. Sen. Alex Padilla followed suit, stating that the "ICE raids across Los Angeles today are a continuation of a disturbing pattern of extreme and cruel immigration enforcement operations across the country" and demanding "accountability for today's actions."

'This is a wake up call for many Democrats.'

While Democrats vilified ICE, similarly minded radicals took to the streets, attacking police and federal agents, blockading major thoroughfares, setting fires across the city, and looting downtown businesses.

At the outset, Fetterman's comrades were largely silent on the matter, even as police were being brutalized by foreign flag-waving radicals. However, when President Donald Trump called up the National Guard on Saturday and deemed the rioters "troublemakers and insurrectionists," Democrats decided chaos was, actually, a problem — but a problem attributable primarily to Trump.

Bass, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and Massachusetts Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey were among the Democrats who blamed Trump and his administration for the violence and unrest.

The exception

Fetterman suggested in a message on Monday that Democrats' failure to condemn the violent and destructive acts committed by the rioters in Los Angeles was not only immoral but a self-own.

"I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration — but this is not that," wrote Fetterman in a message accompanying a photograph of a rioter standing atop a destroyed car and waving a Mexican flag while nearby other wrecks burned. "This is anarchy and true chaos."

"My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement," added Fetterman.

While poorly received by unhinged partisans like podcaster Keith Olbermann, Republicans welcomed the insight.

"Well said," responded Alabama Sen. Katie Boyd Britt (R).

Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy wrote, "It's hard to preach hard truths to your own side. I respect this."

Elon Musk responded with an American flag emoji.

Deputy White House chief of staff Taylor Budowich seized upon Fetterman's tweet as a strong indicator to similarly sensible Democrats that their party may have left them behind.

"This is a wake up call for many Democrats: there is no room for you in the party of @GavinNewsom and @KamalaHarris," wrote Budowich. "Their self-obsessed pursuits of power are blind to you and your concerns. They defend chaos, reject biology, and are unbothered by the invasion of our nation."

Doctor-Turned-Sen. Roger Marshall Predicts Joe Biden Only Has 6 Months Until Total Incapacitation

'Joe Biden is going to be totally mentally incapacitated in six months'

Ex-Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez's wife convicted for her role in bribery scheme: 'Partners in crime'

A Manhattan jury convicted Nadine Menendez on federal bribery charges for her central role in the elaborate, years-long bribery scheme that earned her husband, disgraced former Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez (N.J.), an 11-year prison sentence.

After eight hours of deliberation, the federal jury convicted the Democrat's wife on all 15 counts including bribery, honest services wire fraud, extortion under color of official right, obstruction of justice, and conspiring to make her husband an agent of Egypt.

"Nadine Menendez and Senator Menendez were partners in crime," Matthew Podolsky, acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, said in a statement. "Over the span of five years, Nadine Menendez agreed to accept and accepted all sorts of bribes — including gold bars, cash, a Mercedes-Benz convertible, and a no-show job — all in exchange for the senator's corrupt official acts."

Mrs. Menendez had wrecked her old Mercedes-Benz sedan fatally running over 49-year-old Richard Koop.

"Together, Nadine Menendez and the senator placed their own interests and greed ahead of the interests of the citizens the senator was elected to serve," added Podolsky.

After leaving the courthouse Monday, Mrs. Menendez told reporters, "I think this is politically motivated," reported the New York Times.

According to her updated indictment, the bribery scheme spanned several years — from at least 2018 until 2023.

The Democrat and his wife traded his political power and access to sensitive U.S. government information for gifts including cash, gold bars, payments toward a home mortgage, tickets to events, and a Mercedes-Benz. The new car, a bribe from New Jersey businessman Jose Uribe, came in handy, as Mrs. Menendez had wrecked her old Mercedes-Benz sedan fatally running over 49-year-old Richard Koop in December 2018.

Bob Menendez, who became chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee in 2021, reportedly used his political clout to favor the Qatari government and to act as an agent of Egypt, while Mrs. Menendez facilitated the bribes. The Washington Post indicated that while on the Senate committee, Menendez even committed to help Egyptian officials obtain military aid.

When federal agents raided the couple's Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, home in June 2022, they found "the fruits" of the bribery scheme, including $150,000 worth of gold bars, over $480,000 in cash hidden throughout the residence, and $70,000 stuffed into Mrs. Menendez's safe deposit box.

Some of the envelopes containing the cash were traceable by DNA and fingerprints to Fred Daibes, a real estate developer who faced a bank fraud case and sought the Democrat's help in installing a sympathetic U.S. attorney in New Jersey.

Daibes was found guilty of bribery, fraud, and obstruction last year with former Sen. Menendez and Wael Hana, the Egyptian-American businessman for whom Menendez pressured a senior U.S. Department of Agriculture official in an effort to protect a halal beef exporting agreement with the Egyptian government.

U.S. District Judge Sidney Stein set a sentencing date of June 12 for Mrs. Menendez — just days after her husband, who resigned in disgrace last August, is scheduled to report to prison, reported CNN.

New Yorkers favor AOC over Chuck Schumer for Senate by nearly 20 points in new Democrat poll

A new poll of likely Democrat voters showed a majority of support for Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) if she were to run for Senate against Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.).

The polling comes from the staunchly progressive outlet Data for Progress, which was founded by Sean McElwee, who has advocated for abolishing immigration enforcement and was an alleged associate of crypto fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried.

The poll of 767 likely Democratic primary voters in New York was conducted in late March and asked respondents about a hypothetical 2028 Democratic Senate primary between Ocasio-Cortez and Schumer.

'The progressives in the base are gunning for the more realistic Democrats.'

A strong majority of 55% chose AOC, while 36% went with Schumer, a 19-point difference. Another 9% said they were not sure.

Interestingly, 82% of those polled said they felt positively about Ocasio-Cortez after learning she is in favor of taxpayer-funded health care and the Green New Deal. The latter was climate policy Ocasio-Cortez introduced in 2019, which promised "millions of high-wage jobs," government housing for all, as well as "justice and equality."

"Schumer isn't up for re-election until '28, so there's still plenty of time, but polls this far out are a warning shot," said Christopher Bedford, senior politics editor at Blaze News. "The progressives in the base are gunning for the more realistic Democrats, and they're in no mood for compromising — even with reality."

The polling data also revealed that Ocasio-Cortez is actually not the most popular Democrat in the state. That spot belongs to former Vice President Kamala Harris, who shockingly received an 81% favorability rating.

Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) was next, tied with Ocasio-Cortez with 75%.

Beating them all, however, was Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.); he had the highest favorability rating among the likely voters at 83%.

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) was near the bottom with Schumer at just 51% and 62% respectively.

Those polled also listed what they considered to be the most pertinent issues relating to their potential votes. Topping that list was "threats to democracy," followed by "programs like Social Security and Medicare," and then "economy, jobs, and inflation."

Democrat voters in New York overwhelmingly agreed (84%) that their party is not doing enough when it comes to standing up to President Trump. That prompted Data for Progress to boldly claim that Democrats nationwide "clearly want" leadership at the DNC that fights harder to defeat Trump and the "MAGA agenda."

Critics highlight Sen. Ernst's trans advocacy following revelation she's trying to spike Hegseth nomination

Establishmentarians are desperate to prevent decorated Army veteran Pete Hegseth from becoming President-elect Donald Trump's defense secretary. Opposition from Democrats, defense lobbyists, and the liberal media is surmountable; however, Hegseth will require the support of most Republicans going into the 119th Congress.

Sources close to the Senate confirmed to Blaze News this week that Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa has been actively lobbying against Hegseth's nomination. One source indicated that Ernst is serving as a "useful proxy" for the likes of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and what remains of the old guard.

When looking into possible reasons why Ernst might want to spike the nomination, critics found that Ernst has a disparate vision for the U.S. military — one not so different from the woke and alienating reality that manifested under the current Democratic administration.

Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk was among the critics whohighlighted an August interview wherein the Iowa senator advocated for the continued presence of medical transvestites in the military and rejected the suggestion that the military is woke. Kirk wrote, "Maybe this is why she's leading the charge against Hegseth?"

Ernst, who served for over two decades in the Army Reserve and the Army National Guard, told the titular host of PBS' "Firing Line with Margaret Hoover" in August that "we have transgender people serving in our military. They will bleed red just as the rest of us."

The senator, recently touted by ABC News as a possible candidate to replace Hegseth, has long defended permitting medical transvestites to serve in the military on the condition that they can meet physical requirements.

Blaze News previously reported that whereas mentally ill recruits, individuals reliant on medications, women with abnormal uterine bleeding, men with deformed genitals, those with chronic anxiety, and those who have committed self-harm are routinely barred from joining the military, similar prohibitions have apparently been relaxed under the Biden administration for those claiming to be "transgender."

'[The DOD] committed a Bud Light.'

Ernst told Hoover that there are certain situations in which it makes sense not to integrate transvestites, giving the example of keeping a male transvestite who has yet to complete his sex change out of women's barracks. However, the senator signaled continued opposition to Trump's previous and potential blanket bans on transvestic service members, stating, "If they bring value to our unit, if they have specialties that we can use, especially if we want to maintain an all-volunteer force, we want to bring that talent into our services."

Significant doubt has been cast in recent years on the corresponding value proposition.

Then-Secretary of Defense James Mattis stated in a Feb. 22, 2018, Pentagon memo that in "the Department's best military judgment, the Department of Defense concludes that there are substantial risks associated with allowing the accession and retention of individuals with a history or diagnosis of gender dysphoria and require or have already undertaken a course of treatment to change their gender."

Thomas Spoehr, former director of the Heritage Foundation’s Center for National Defense, concluded in 2021 that the Biden administration's "decision to change U.S. military policy and allow unrestricted service by transgender individuals — without regard to whether they suffer from gender dysphoria — will result in a direct negative impact on military readiness linked to service members who are less able to deploy and perform their individual missions."

Hegseth may be amenable to a transvestite ban.

"I think we're at a 's*** or get off the pot' moment. We are at a tipping point for total institutional corruption, and Trump has a chance to reverse that," Hegseth recently told the "Shawn Ryan Show." "[The DOD] committed a Bud Light. In search of a non-traditional constituency, they offended their core constituency."

Hegseth suggested on the "Take It Outside with Jay Cutler and Sam Mackey" podcast that medical transvestites in the military are "not deployable" because they are "reliant on chemicals."

Trump's pick for defense secretary has also questioned having female service members on the battlefield, telling Shawn Ryan, "It hasn't made us more effective, hasn't made us more lethal, has made fighting more complicated."

'If you vote against him, primaries will ensue.'

Ernst, who has voiced support for requiring women to register for the draft and previously voted to confirm President Joe Biden's defense secretary pick, Gen. Lloyd Austin, has emphasized that "women are perfectly capable of contributing in combat, whether it's combat arms or someone like me that was supporting combat operations with the movement of goods up into combat zones."

Ernst similarly pushed back on the suggestion that the military has been "marred with a sentiment of wokeness, some social experimentation," telling Hoover, "Our military is not woke. I would say that there is civilian leadership of thee military that is woke. ... There is a difference between the leadership and those that serve in uniform."

Rebecca Grant, vice president of the Lexington Institute, told Bloomberg that Ernst's reluctance to back Hegseth may also have something to do with a 2017 sexual assault allegation against the Fox News host. Even though no charges were ever filed and Hegseth's attorneys have repeatedly stressed that the allegations were false, Grant suggested that the nominee will have to once again rebut the allegations to reassure Ernst, who was reportedly raped in college.

After meeting with Hegseth Wednesday, the Iowa senator noted on X, "I appreciate Pete Hegseth's service to our country, something we both share. Today, as part of the confirmation process, we had a frank and thorough conversation."

BlazeTV host Liz Wheeler tweeted, "Why is Joni Ernst a GOP Senator? Supports trans in the military. Supports gun control. Supports giving Ukraine more $$. Votes Dem 38% of the time. Voted for Lloyd Austin, Biden Sec Def who oversaw deadly Afghanistan withdrawal. If she won't vote Pete, time to fire Joni."

"This is a direct attempt to undermine the President and his voters," wrote Kirk. "Pete Hegseth is the redline. If you vote against him, primaries will ensue."

When asked whether she was leading the charge against Hegseth, Ernst told RealClearPolitics, "There is absolutely no campaign against Pete."

"I just want to make sure the process is able to play out and that we’re thoroughly vetting him. I do believe that Pete deserves to have a hearing. All the rumblings out there are absolutely false. My role as a senator is to make sure that we are putting to bed any rumors, any anonymous whatever," continued the senator. "We just need to make sure that he is thoroughly vetted and that he has his opportunity to go in front of the committee, recount his service, and rebut any allegations."

Former Presidential Candidate, Oklahoma Senator Dies At 94

'He was 94. He was a wonderful and beloved man'

McCormick sues over 'illegal ballots' — RNC chair calls out Dems for attempt to overturn PA election

Multiple local and national publications called the U.S. Senate race in Pennsylvania last week for Republican challenger and combat veteran Dave McCormick. Although the writing is on the wall, Sen. Bob Casey, the Democratic incumbent, has refused to admit defeat. Casey's allies are now engaging in the very conduct and echoing the same kind of language that Democrats have spent years condemning.

Days after the Wall Street Journal's editorial board claimed that Marc Elias, elections attorney for the Democratic Party, was "back and trying to steal a Senate seat for Bob Casey," Republican National Committee chairman Michael Whatley warned that Democratic officials and lawyers "are trying to sow doubt in the democratic process."

That doubt is sure to grow, now that the state is holding a recount and Democrats are pushing to count illegal ballots.

Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt announced Wednesday that the unofficial results, with Philadelphia's legal and uncontested ballots accounted for, automatically triggered a statewide recount under Pennsylvania law. McCormick reportedly leads Casey by 29,338 votes, 48.93% to 48.50%. To avoid a recount, the Republican senator-elect would need to lead his opponent by 0.5%.

Schmidt indicated that after completing their initial counts, counties must begin the recount by no later than Nov. 20, then report the results to the state secretary by Nov. 27. The cost to the taxpayer of confirming Casey's loss will be in excess of $1 million.

McCormick's communications director Elizabeth noted, "Senator-Elect McCormick's lead is insurmountable, which the AP made clear. A recount will be a waste of time & taxpayer money, but it is Casey's prerogative. McCormick knows what it's like to lose an election & is sure Senator Casey will eventually reach the right conclusion."

Mark Harris, McCormick campaign consultant who has repeatedly emphasized there is no path to victory remaining for Casey, tweeted, "Since 2000, no US Senate race up by more than 500 votes has switched leads. Again I am the broken record but there's no path for Casey except wasting $1M+ of taxpayer [money.]"

'STOP the counting of illegal ballots.'

"Recounts are shifting a very small number of votes," Deb Otis, director of research and policy at FairVote told the Associated Press last month. "We're going to see recounts in 2024 that are not going to change the outcome."

The Wall Street Journal editorial board indicated Sunday that a recount would afford Marc Elias "a chance to try his legal shenanigans, which are likely to run the gamut from challenging votes for Mr. McCormick to searching for heretofore undiscovered ballots for Mr. Casey."

"Mr. Elias helped to steal a Senate seat in Minnesota for Al Franken in 2008 by finding a judge to count previously rejected ballots and overturn the lead of Republican Norm Coleman," continued the Journal. "The Elias method is to look for friendly judges who will rule in his favor. Pennsylvania has a Republican secretary of state who supervises elections but an especially partisan elected Democratic majority on the state Supreme Court. So far Gov. Josh Shapiro and other officials aren’t commenting on Mr. Elias."

Whatley vowed to ensure the RNC and Pennsylvania GOP "will have attorneys and observers in every county in the state to ensure only lawful ballots are counted. Again."

According to Whatley, the RNC filed two new lawsuits Wednesday evening in Bucks County and with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to "STOP the counting of illegal ballots."

Whatley clarified that Bucks County "is once again violating Pennsylvania law, this time by choosing to count undated and incorrectly dated ballots in a race that Dave McCormick has already won."

The lawsuit filed by Senator-elect McCormick and the RNC against Bucks County states that the board's decision "is legally erroneous because undated or misdated mail ballots are invalid as a matter of law and cannot be counted in the 2024 General Election — as the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has already made clear."

LevittownNow.com reported that the Democrat-controlled Bucks County Board of Elections approved canvassing and counting for most of the nearly 4,500 provisional ballots it has received.

The county election board is also counting hundreds of undated and incorrectly dated mail-in ballots even though the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled and reiterated that county election officials cannot count absentee ballots with incorrect or missing dates. State law requires mail-in ballots to be returned in two envelopes — an inner secrecy envelope and an outer envelope on which voters must pen their signatures and the current date.

"The Board's baffling decision not to enforce the date requirement and to count noncompliant ballots thus directly contravenes binding Pennsylvania law," continues the complaint.

The lawsuit further claims that the county board's decision violates the U.S. Constitution's Equal Protection Clause and the Pennsylvania Constitution.

Gov. Phil Murphy Appoints Former Chief Of Staff George Helmy To Replace Senator Bob Menendez

Helmy, is expected to take office on Sept. 9 once the Senate returns from its recess
