Anti-Trump Green Day calls for Orange Man's head

They don’t call them Ruthless for nothing.

The fellas at the “Ruthless Variety Progrum” (note the “u” is on purpose) skewer politics from a sane, right-of-center view. And they’ve leveraged classic “Veep” TV show clips to mock Vice President Kamala Harris over the last three-plus years.

They called it “Veep or Veep?”

They joked recently (if "recently" means anything beyond ten minutes ago in this hyperactive news cycle) that they ran out of old “Veep” clips to compare with Harris’ growing body of word salad quips. Yet the mind behind the HBO series is so Trump-deranged that he can’t see any resemblance between Selina Meyer and our current quasi-not-really president:

Well, for a start, Selina Meyer is not Kamala Harris. When we were making Veep, we didn’t have anyone in specific in mind. It was more we wanted people. … It really is not based on anyone. It’s just our vice president. Plus, Julia Louis-Dreyfus is an amazing comedy talent, and why wouldn’t you have her as the center of your show? So it’s about that. It’s nice that Veep has been watched again, but I wouldn’t want people to think that Kamala Harris is like Selina Meyer.

OK, Jan …

Green Day ghouls

This rocker knows a thing or two about American idiots.

Like many a left-leaning celeb, Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong missed the “tone down the rhetoric” memo following the assassination attempt against Donald Trump. So perhaps it’s less than shocking to learn that the 52-year-old multimillionaire rebel did something ghoulish on stage to protest Trump. He held a Trump mask aloft as if it were the former president’s actual head.

In speaking truth to power, Armstrong bravely ignored soaring inflation rates, the frightening crime levels in Democrat-controlled cities, and the Oct. 7 attacks that killed more than a 1,000 Israelis in order to go after the real enemy: a guy who hasn't been in charge of the country since early 2021.

The band even shared the clip of Armstrong's low-effort Kathy Griffin-style decapitation on its Instagram page, much to the delight of his fellow White Men for Kamala.

Up the Academy

Wanted: Oscars host – modest pay, global scrutiny, DNC talking points included.

Jimmy Kimmel toned down the hard-left politics earlier this year during his third Oscar hosting gig. Now he’s ready to pass the torch to another comic. Good luck.

So far, stand-up star John Mulaney has turned down the offer, which could have instantly given him the biggest spotlight of his career. Hmm.

The gig’s risks are obvious. Every joke will be put through the social X-ray machine to determine possible offense. The host’s prior career will similarly get the FBI background treatment to ensure no problematic joke has ever left his or her lips.

Just ask Kevin Hart.

Just know the one person who could rock the Oscars like no other will never be offered the gig. Ricky Gervais skewered Hollywood Inc. so thoroughly in his 2020 Golden Globes appearance that he’d instantly double the night’s ratings.

Heck, the ratings might double just by making every beautiful person in attendance memorize Gervais' 2020 advice for nominees:

So if you do win an award tonight, don’t use it as a platform to make a political speech. You’re in no position to lecture the public about anything. You know nothing about the real world. Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg. So if you win, come up, accept your little award, thank your agent and your god, and f**k off.

Imagine getting through the Academy Awards broadcast in less time than Biden's withdrawal speech ...

Iron Man's new platinum payday

Hollywood talks a good game with its sharing-the-wealth memes and working-class platitudes. When push comes to shove, however, the message is clear: “Show me the money!”

It’s why Robert Downey Jr. just reupped for another tour of duty in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The “Iron Man” star said goodbye to the beloved character in “Avengers: Endgame” five years ago. Now he’s back to play the villainous Dr. Doom in two MCU features.

And we have his first, exclusive line of dialogue: “Ka-ching!”

Oh, wait, that’s the sound his agent made after inking the deal. Reports say Downey Jr. will walk away with “significantly more” than $80 million for his work in the two-part film saga …

Late-night host to make jokes

Just in: Seth Meyers has snagged a deal for his first HBO comedy special. Career reinvention is never easy; best of luck to Meyers as he tries his hand at being funny.

Should Nikki Haley drop out?

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley lost the GOP presidential primary election to Donald Trump in her home state of South Carolina.

But that’s not stopping her from acting like she won, which many Americans, including Sara Gonzales, find interesting.

“Nikki Haley has now lost four times consecutively, if you count Nevada,” Gonzales says, noting that she’s wondering why Haley is still in the race.

“If it’s me, I’m like, ‘I don’t even want to go to South Carolina, I’m going to be embarrassed,’” Gonzales continues, adding, “I would rather not have that on the record. He’s going to beat me by like 30, 40 points, and this is just going to be really embarrassing.'”

Stu Burguiere feels a little differently, as Super Tuesday is just over a week away and she’s stuck it out until now, anyway.

“She’s going to lose more,” Stu says, adding that though she will lose, “she will pick up some delegates.”

“The only play for her at this point is to try to be the alternative in case the Trump thing completely falls apart for whatever reason, God forbid,” he adds.

However, even if Trump were thrown in jail, Stu doesn’t believe that means she would secure the nomination.

“At this point,” he says, “I think we’d all agree she’s burned whatever MAGA sort of street cred she had left from her time serving in the administration.”

Biden repeats debunked Xi Jinping Tibetan story, then visits medical center, but don't worry — he's totally healthy

President Joe Biden has revealed this week that he’s making an unexpected visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, despite the mainstream media’s claims that he’s healthy.

The news comes after countless gaffes showing his declining memory — including a recent appearance on the “Late Night” show with host Seth Meyers, where he was asked why he’s so optimistic about America.

Biden went on to repeat the debunked Xi Jinping Tibetan story, which he also ended up butchering.

“I tell every world leader, and I mean this sincerely, never underestimate the ability of American people,” Biden told Meyers. “I was asked by Xi Jinping about when I was in the Tibetan mountains with him, and he said, can you define America for him?”

“I said, ‘Yeah, one word: possibilities,’” Biden continued, adding, “America believes anything is possible.”

He then championed our economy, calling it the best in the world.

Further, when Biden has told the story before, he appears to have called Xi Jinping “Dung Chow Ping.”

While no one is really surprised considering Biden has been on the decline for a long time, Pat Gray finds it “really sad.”

“It’s what happens to people when their mind is going. They still have that memory from the past, or a lot of memories from the past, just not a lot filled in in the middle there,” Gray says.

Kamala 'Border Czar' Harris accuses GOP governors of 'dereliction of duty' over border crisis — and blames Trump, too

Vice President Kamala Harris accused Republican governors on Monday of a "dereliction of duty" for busing migrants to sanctuary cities.

Wait, seriously?

Yes, the very person whom President Joe Biden appointed to be his "border czar" went on "The Late Show with Seth Meyers" and lodged accusations of negligent leadership.

"Talk about political theatre, playing games with people's lives," Harris charged. "I just think it's an absolute dereliction of duty."

Harris then claimed the Biden administration has attempted to solve the border crisis, which she attributed to decisions made under former President Donald Trump.

"If you see a problem and if we agree that we need to address it, then if you’re a leader, participate in a solution, right? When we first came in office, the first bill that we proposed was for a pathway for citizenship. It was to fix a broken immigration system, which was broken under the previous administration," Harris said.

"Participate in the solution because we are offering solutions," she added.

It remains unclear what solutions the Biden administration is proposing to solve the border crisis. The one proposal that Harris cited, a pathway to citizenship, would not stop the flood of migrants who have been pouring across the border under Biden's watch.

In fact, critics of the Biden administration say the opposite, alleging his policies have incentivized migrants to come to America knowing they will not be deported.

Republican governors, for instance, say they are busing migrants from the front lines of the border crisis because the Biden administration is not sufficiently responding to the flood of migrants overwhelming border cities.

Immigration, after all, is the responsibility of the federal government, and as the crisis rages on, it becomes more clear the government is abdicating that responsibility.

Indeed, the numbers do not lie. In fiscal year 2022, a record number of migrants entered the U.S. — more than 2 million. Unfortunately, there were also a record number of migrant deaths.

Despite being tasked with overseeing the border crisis, Harris has not visited the front lines of the crisis. She did, however, visit El Paso last year, but that city is hundreds of miles away from the Rio Grande Valley, where the majority of migrants are entering the U.S.

Leftist Seth Meyers pummeled after 'apology' to Lauren Boebert for thinking 'AR' in AR-15 stands for 'assault rifle,' then admitting 'I'm sorry for not giving a f***'

Leftist Seth Meyers issued a mocking "apology" to Republican U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert on his late-night TV show Monday for often incorrectly believing the "AR" in AR-15 stands for "assault rifle" — then saying "I'm sorry I don't give a f***."

What are the details?

During Meyers' “A Closer Look” segment, he called the Republican Party a “collection of ghoulish con men and weirdos saying and doing whatever they think they can get away with to gain and hold on to power."

He added Boebert's name to his list, calling out the Colorado congresswoman's "incredibly dumb retort" on gun nomenclature in the face of calls for more gun control.

“If your Representative thinks AR stands for ‘Assault Rifle’, FIRE THEM!” Boebert tweeted Sunday.

With that, Meyers went in for the kill: "Yes, it's true, it stands for 'ArmaLite Rifle,' and as someone who has made that mistake myself in the past, I would just like to issue this sincere apology to Lauren Boebert, 'I'm sorry for not giving a f***.'"

The crowd loved it.

He added, "I love that the same people who say, ‘I don’t care what your pronouns are' also say, ‘Don’t get the name of my gun wrong! My gun has feelings, too!'”

How did folks react to Meyers?

While the late-night TV host got plenty of left-wing support for ripping into Boebert, not everyone commenting on a story from TheWrap about his put down were pleased:

  • "I love how people that have no experience with or knowledge of guns or the laws surrounding them like to offer up their expertise on the subject," one commenter wrote. "The History of Governments disarming their citizens is not a good one and definitely not something we as Americans should want for ourselves or our country."
  • "So here's the problem...not caring is one thing, but when you spread misinformation, then it becomes a problem," another commenter said of Meyers. "If you don't understand something, ask; but when you're in a position to have what you say heard by millions, then you have to accept the good with the bad, but it goes a lot further for your credibility when you admit when you're wrong rather than deflecting and going on the offensive....and that goes way beyond the gun debate."
  • "It is amazing how these shows that were for entertainment have turned into political smear campaigns and party talking points," another commenter observed.
  • "Just shows how the anti-gun lobby (special interest groups and their followers) latch on to anything without discovering the truth," another commenter said.
  • "... Mr. Meyers[,] it is a fact that 'AR' does not stand for 'assault rifle,' and it is fiction that you can suddenly become a different gender. I know, I know...it's those pesky facts again that are hurting your feelings," another commenter wrote.
  • "So, here is an idea: Let's make Seth Meyers' show a gun-free zone and not pay for armed security and see how many shows he does," another commenter said.
  • "He should apologize as it demonstrates how little he knows about the subject. Yet he continues to try to inform people about firearms as if he has something important to say," another commenter noted. "He is complicit in spreading misinformation, which is apparently only an issue when right wingers do it."
  • "I will go along with all the gun control BS the progressives are pushing, but only if politicians cannot have armed security," another commenter declared. "They have to be out in the general population unarmed, just like the rest of us."

Seth Meyers blames Tucker Carlson for inspiring Buffalo massacre — but Megyn Kelly issues blistering rebuke over politicizing the tragedy

Late-night TV host Seth Meyers unloaded on Fox News' Tucker Carlson on Monday night, saying that the conservative TV host helped to inspire the horrific massacre that took the lives of at least 10 people at a Buffalo, New York, supermarket on Saturday.

Meyers made the remarks on the same day that broadcaster Megyn Kelly hit out at media figures attempting to politicize the tragedy.

What are the details?

Meyers addressed the mass killing during Monday night's "Late Night with Seth Meyers," saying that he believed that Carlson was complicit in helping spread a conspiracy theory known as the Great Replacement.

NPR defines the theory as stating "that non-white individuals are being brought into the United States and other Western countries to 'replace' white voters to achieve a political agenda."

“With prominent figures on the right embracing and parroting the dangerous white nationalist conspiracy theory known as the Great Replacement, it’s worth noting that in addition to being deeply racist, bigoted, and dehumanizing, it’s also incredibly stupid,” Meyers said during a Monday night segment.

He accused Carlson of being guilty of downplaying right-wing domestic terrorism. In 2019, Carlson addressed white supremacy terrorism as small-scale and said that the movement's "combined membership of every white supremacist organization in this country would be able to fit inside a college football stadium."

Meyers zeroed in on those remarks during the segment, saying, “First of all, a college football stadium can fit like 100,000 people, which is a ton of people! If I told you, ‘Don’t worry, I rounded up all the white supremacists' and walked you into here, I don’t think your reaction would be, ‘Phew!’”

He added that Carlson has "openly and repeatedly promoted replacement theory on his show.”

“No one is being replaced. There’s no capacity limit here," he said. "It’s not like there’s a bouncer who only lets two in when two leave. Just think about how breathtakingly dumb the logic here is. No one gets replaced when another person enters the country.”

What else?

During Monday's episode of "The Megyn Kelly Show," Kelly said that those people trying to politicize the shooting are contributing to division.

“We will not be naming the shooter on this program, consistent with our policy of not naming mass shooters, who in part are out for infamy, and we decline to help," she said during the broadcast. "He’s pleaded not guilty, but he also left behind a trove of information, including a 180-page manifesto filled with racist and anti-Semitic commentary. The shooter was white. Detailing how and why he picked his target.”

She added that media talking heads who tried to blame Carlson and other conservatives for the shooting are "outrageous."

“Some in the media have been quick to point fingers and even place blame on our friend and very popular Fox News host, Tucker Carlson," she pointed out. "It’s outrageous. It’s wrong, both factually and morally."

Becoming further outraged, Kelly added, "Why do we have to go to that place immediately on these stories? Why can’t we spend two f***ing minutes mourning the people who are dead and trying to understand that we have insane people in this country? We have lunatics. It’s a huge country!”

Kelly pointed out that there's no way to eradicate the "lunatics" from the country, and attempting to politicize such a horrific tragedy will only further divide Americans.

"People have to inject their politics into everything. And this guy had a racist manifesto. There’s no question that doesn’t make it Tucker Carlson’s fault," she insisted. "Just stop it. Just stop it!”

‘Climate Night’ Was Just As Condescendingly Cringey As Expected

Eight late-night comedy shows teamed up Wednesday to dedicate entire portions of their programs to climate change.
