Migrant arrested for suspected rape and murder of 11-year-old girl, wrapped body in trash bag under her bed after strangulation

A migrant man accused of the heinous rape and murder of an 11-year-old Texas girl was captured in Louisiana one week after the grisly killing. The suspect allegedly strangled the girl to death, dumped her in a trash bag, and hid the body under her bed at her house in Pasadena, Texas.

Authorities arrested Juan Carlos Garcia-Rodriguez on Saturday in Shreveport, Louisiana. The Pasadena Police Department said the 18-year-old suspect was charged with capital murder for the strangulation death of 11-year-old Maria Gonzalez. He is awaiting extradition back to Texas.

Citing sources, KTRK reported that Garcia-Rodriguez "made a full confession."

Garcia-Rodriguez – a Guatemalan national – reportedly crossed the U.S. southern border illegally in January. He allegedly surrendered to U.S. Customs and Border Protection in El Paso, Texas. However, he was released to immigration sponsors in the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana. Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger said attempts to contact the sponsors had been unsuccessful.

Garcia-Rodriguez allegedly lived in the same apartment complex as Gonzalez and her family in Pasadena.

Before her death on Aug. 12, Maria reportedly informed her father via text that someone was knocking on the door of their apartment around 10 a.m. – approximately 15 minutes after he left for work. Carmelo Gonzalez said he instructed his daughter not to open the door, and she agreed. The father said he never heard from his daughter again.

After the daughter stopped responding to his messages, the father asked his brother and sister-in-law – who live in the same apartment complex – to check on Maria. They reportedly found the front door unlocked and things were out of place in the apartment, but they did not find Maria.

The father returned to the home around 3 p.m. that day after work.

KTRK reported, "Police said Carmelo found her body wrapped in a trash bag inside a clothes hamper underneath her own bed. She had been strangled, beaten, and sexually assaulted."

Pasadena Police Chief Josh Bruegger said the suspect left his apartment key at the crime scene.

"It took investigators a few days to find out the key didn't belong to Maria's home and in fact, opened another apartment – the one Garcia-Rodriguez was staying in, according to KHOU. However, Garcia-Rodriguez had allegedly already bolted out of town before the key discovery.

Two days after the gruesome child murder, Garcia-Rodriguez allegedly told his roommate he was leaving town for a job.

According to police, the roommate asked for the apartment key, but Garcia-Rodriguez said he was going to hold on to it.

He allegedly told his roommate, "It's not going to be long. I'm coming back. It's fine."

After the suspect was captured in Louisiana, the Gonzalez family issued a statement that read:

We want to say thank you to the Pasadena Police Department and to Louisiana police and any officials that participated in bringing this cold-blooded murderer into custody. This arrest has brought the family and community some peace. We are extremely thankful that he cannot cause this type of pain to anybody again. I ask for those who are in charge to give us justice. May he be burdened with the full weight of the law, for what he has done to my daughter.

Colorado nurse sexually assaulted unconscious patients, recorded sex crimes, and labeled them as his 'Dexter Collection': Police

An ICU nurse from Colorado has been accused of sexually assaulting unconscious patients who were supposed to be in his care. The nurse allegedly sexually abused the victims and recorded the alleged sex crimes. The male nurse labeled the sex assault videos as his own "Dexter Collection," according to police.

Christopher Peter Lambros, 61, was arrested last week for allegedly sexually assaulting victims who were unable to consent.

Lambros — a nurse with the intensive care unit at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction — reportedly recorded himself performing lewd, sexual acts on patients who were unconscious. He is also accused of snapping selfie photos of a sexual nature with patients in compromised situations.

Around 8:45 p.m. on July 9, a colleague contacted 911 to report that they had witnessed Lambros "taking photos of a patient’s genitals" at St. Mary’s Hospital, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The colleague alleged to have seen a sex crime when she went to check on a patient. The lights in the hospital room were reportedly turned off and the curtains were drawn around the bed.

"When she pulled back the curtain she saw the patient, who was unconscious, with her gown pulled up, exposing her breasts, and the bed sheet was pulled down, exposing the patient’s genitals," the affidavit states. "[The witness] said she saw a nurse, who she knew as Chris Lambros, with his head on the patient’s stomach, with his face toward the patient’s feet, with what she believed [was] his right arm extended, holding what she was sure was an unknown make/model cell phone in a black case, in a position as if he was taking a 'selfie’ picture."

The New York Post reported, "When the woman opened the curtain, she said, she discovered the patient lying unconscious with her hospital gown pulled up to reveal her breasts, and the bed cover pulled down showing her genitals."

The complaint stated that the witness saw Lambros with his head resting on the patient’s stomach with a phone in his hand in a position suggesting he was photographing a selfie.

Lambros was allegedly startled and dropped his phone. He then covered up the naked patient.

When interviewed, Lambros told investigators that he was giving the patient an injection in the stomach area to prevent blood clots.

However, investigators say that there was incriminating evidence on Lambros' cellphone.

The Daily Beast reported, "After obtaining a search warrant, a digital forensic analysis of the phone found 'photographs and videos of Lambros posing with a number of victims who were unconscious, in the hospital setting,' the affidavit said. 'Lambros was photographing himself sucking on victims’ breasts and digitally penetrating victims,' the document states."

The outlet added, "The digital forensic analysis also found that 168 photos and videos had been deleted from the phone between April 30 and July 9, the latter date being the day that Lambros was reported for the alleged selfie incident."

In a video allegedly recorded in June, Lambros can be heard whispering to the camera, "Don’t ever get rid of these videos,” and “You need to keep them forever… this is your Dexter collection,” the affidavit states.

The reference is likely a mention of the fictional serial killer Dexter Morgan in the TV show "Dexter."

Lambros was booked into the Mesa County jail on $250,000 bond.

President of St. Mary’s Medical Center Bryan Johnson said, "What this former nurse is accused of is reprehensible and goes against everything we believe and value at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Patients put their trust in us and should feel safe in our care.”

Former Ohio softball coach pleads guilty to sexual battery of student, allegedly begged child not to tell authorities

The latest sex scandal involves a former Ohio high school teacher's assistant and softball coach, who is said to have admitted to having a sexual relationship with a student. The educator allegedly begged the student not to tell authorities about the inappropriate relationship.

Ashley Rison – a 31-year-old former softball coach and teacher's aide at New Miami High School in Ohio – allegedly had sex with a 17-year-old student while she worked at the school.

Law & Crime reported that Rison and the student engaged in sexual encounters eight times – beginning in April 2021. The indictment indicated that Rison was in positions of authority over the student during some of the sexual incidents.

Rison reportedly attempted to persuade the minor from revealing their illegal relationship and sexual assault.

“In addition to what the child tells us, we do have recordings between Ms. Rison and the child of where Ms. Rison makes multiple incriminating statements in asking, begging the child not to report her to the authorities,” Butler County Assistant Prosecutor Lindsay Sheehan said during a prior court hearing, according to by WXIX.

On May 3, 2021, Butler County Sheriff’s Office was notified of the inappropriate relationship between Rion and the 17-year-old softball player.

On the same day, Rison purportedly quit her job at the school where she had worked since August 2015.

New Miami Local Schools Superintendent Rhonda Parker announced, "Ashley Ra-Nae Rison is no longer employed by the New Miami Local School Board. Effective May 3, 2021, Ms. Rison resigned from her position as Paraprofessional and Coach. New Miami Local Schools has no further comment at this time."

In January, Rison was indicted on eight counts of sexual battery and tampering with evidence – all felonies. She was also charged with one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor – a misdemeanor.

On Wednesday, Rison pleaded guilty to sexual battery and gross sexual imposition.

Butler County Assistant Prosecutor Lindsay Sheehan said, "In addition to what the child tells us, we do have recordings between Ms. Rison and the child of where Ms. Rison makes multiple incriminating statements in asking, begging the child not to report her to the authorities."

Rison is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 16.

Rison faces up to eight years in prison. She will also have to register as a sex offender upon her release.

Butler County Prosecutor Mike Gmoser told People magazine, "Every prosecutor that I have ever known, and in every state I have ever dealt with, takes cases involving teachers and students very seriously with respect to sexual conduct and contact. We are dealing with impressionable young minds, and along time comes an adult who takes advantage of them. We take all felonies seriously but I think we add a little extra seriousness to these positions-of-trust type offenses. Prosecutors can hold these people accountable to let them know we take this seriously."
