Biden bizarrely asks if Republicans 'think we're sucking the blood out of kids' when questioned if Democrats support defunding the police

President Joe Biden raised eyebrows this week after bizarrely making two references regarding a conspiracy theory about Democrats "sucking the blood out of kids." The latest mention of the conspiracy theory was in response to a question about Democrats wanting to defund the police.

BlazeTV personality and host of "Slightly Offens*ve" Elijah Schaffer shared a video of Biden flagrantly changing the subject when asked about Democrats wanting to defund the police. Which is a valid question since progressive members of the Democratic Party, including popular Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and Ilhan Omar (Minn.), have publicly voiced their intentions to defund the police.

Daily Caller senior White House correspondent Shelby Talcott asked Biden on the South Lawn, "Are there people in the Democratic Party who want to defund the police?"

Biden employed a whataboutism tactic and responded, "Are there people in the Republican Party who think we're sucking the blood out of kids?"

A befuddled Talcott replied to the peculiar and unrelated answer by saying, "I...I'm...I'm not sure."

Love that @ShelbyTalcott was able to get Joe Biden to admit he’s aware people think he drinks the blood of children… https://t.co/EhNvSTbJ53

Strangely enough, this isn't the first time President Biden has publicized the morbid conspiracy theory. During a CNN town hall event Wednesday, Biden made a similar comment about the falsehood of Democrats "sucking the blood of children."

CNN anchor Don Lemon asked Biden about the lack of bipartisan support for a commission to investigate the Jan. 6 riot, "If Republicans and Democrats can't come together to investigate the biggest attack on our Capitol in 200 years, what makes you think that they can come together on anything?"

Biden responded, "These people. No, I mean it. I'm not being facetious. Democrats and Republicans. I don't care if you think I'm Satan reincarnated. The fact is, you can't look at that television and say nothing happened on the 6th. You can't listen to people who say this was a peaceful march."

"No, I'm serious. Think about it. Think of the things being said," Biden continued. "I've been through the other end of this when the Democrats 35 years ago were way off to the other side. Think about it."

"Look, I sometimes get myself in trouble for what I'm about to say. Not that I get in trouble," Biden said. "As you've heard me say before, no one ever doubts I mean what I say. The problem is I sometimes say all that I mean."

"But all kidding aside, I have faith in the American people – I really do – to ultimately get to the right place," Biden added. "And, by the way, many times Republicans are in the right place. I don't mean it's always Democratic point of view."

President Biden then highlighted the conspiracy theory, "But some of the stuff – I mean, QAnon, the idea that the Democrats or that Biden is hiding people and sucking the blood of children and – no, I'm serious. That's – now you may not like me, and that's your right."

Biden was referring to a QAnon conspiracy theory that claims that some Democrats are practicing Satanism and are involved in the sex trafficking of children.

"The QAnon conspiracy also claims that figures like Clinton sometimes literally eat children as part of a Satanic ritual and to gain vitality by harvesting the substance 'adrenochrome,'" according to Newsweek.

Daily Caller reporters say authorities forcibly detained, kicked, repeatedly hit them with clubs during Wisconsin riots

Two reporters for the Daily Caller say authorities detained them and hit them repeatedly as they covered demonstrations Thursday in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.

Demonstrations and riots erupted Thursday night in Wauwatosa after authorities announced that the police officer who fatally shot 17-year-old Alvin Cole would not face charges.

Investigators have said that Cole was running from police after reportedly firing a stolen handgun when police fired on the teen.

What are the details?

According to a Friday morning report from the outlet, reporters Shelby Talcott and Richie McGinniss said officers detained them even after they identified themselves as members of the press.

On Twitter, Talcott wrote, "@RichieMcGinniss and I just got detained/almost arrested. Officers kicked me and hit me with a billy club and repeatedly hit Richie with a club (we were not resisting). Luckily, an officer came while we were waiting in the police van and recognized that we were press."

Following the alleged detainment, Talcott said that officers let her and McGinniss go.

"Richie had his press credentials visible before he was taken down," Talcott said. "I was sitting in the car (outside of the area where protesters were being arrested) waiting for Richie (who was filming)."

The two were covering the demonstrations along with Campus Reform senior campus correspondent Blair Nelson and independent reporter Brendan Gutenschwager.

Talcott alleged that authorities demanded McGinniss and Nelson leave the area and said that the two reporters complied with the order.

"Several officers then chased the boys down right as they reached our car & forced the rest of us out of the vehicle before making arrests," Talcott wrote in a now-viral Twitter thread. "Richie captured audio of the incident."

Talcott also shared photos of herself and McGinniss with what she said were injuries sustained in the detainment.

She captioned the snap, "We'll have some nice cuts and bruises in the coming days[.]"

McGinniss also shared video of the incident on Twitter, saying, "Video of @ShelbyTalcott and my detainment. As I was recording arrests, one officer told me to (quickly) clear the area. Upon arriving to the car, I was forcibly detained (with press cred in hand) and as you can hear in the video, I tried my best to comply with police orders."

Late Thursday evening, Talcott concluded, "Last thing I'll note for some comments I've seen from Louisville and this: freedom of the press is important and allows reporters to be out past curfew, etc to report the news and get the truth out there. It's a dangerous thing if that right goes away."

In the early hours of Friday morning, Talcott shared a video taken by Caroline Reinwald of WISN-TV.

Talcott captioned the video, ".@WISN_Caroline captured part of our detainment (picks up sort of after @RichieMcGinniss's video, it seems). The person being tossed from the passenger side is [Brendan Gutenschwager], who is still — to my knowledge — in jail."

Early Friday morning, McGinnis took to Twitter, writing, "@ShelbyTalcott called multiple times and I sent emails to any applicable PD's [sic]. Still no status updates regrading [Brenden Gutenschwager] and [Blair Nelson]."

Talcott added that Gutenschwager and Nelson were reportedly jailed on "some sort of violating curfew charge" and were expected to "be released somewhat soon (1,2 hours) after being fingerprinted, etc."

Gutenschwager on Friday morning tweeted, "Tonight I was brutalized by police in Wisconsin. This is me being dragged out of a vehicle and slammed to the pavement. Pleaded with officers that I am here as press, never even given a chance to cooperate before they escalated to this. I am in shock."

Nelson also tweeted, "Hey everybody, I'm out of jail, only in there for three hours. I was arrested for filming with @BGOnTheScene@ShelbyTalcott@RichieMcGinniss. Still don't have my phone, hopefully, will get it soon."

Portland protesters, led by the “anti-Fascist” group Pacific Northwest Youth Liberation Front, threatened police and set a number of fires in the city’s downtown Saturday night, leaving Portland police to declare the demonstration a “riot.”

The incidents, caught on video by reporters on the scene, marked the 52nd night of unrest in Portland.

Friday night, federal officers — members of an elite Customs and Border Protection unit moved in to assist Portland’s law enforcement officers in protecting a federal courthouse, one of the rioters’ top targets these past several months. The officers detained several of the protesters Friday night, but were largely absent Saturday night, leaving Portland police to handle the unrest alone.

‘Protesters broke into a building, set it on fire and started dumpster fires late Saturday night in Oregon’s largest city,” Fox News reported. “The fire at the Portland Police Association building was put out a short time later, Portland police said on Twitter. The department declared the gathering a riot, and began working to clear the downtown area.”

“In North Portland, the PNW Youth Liberation Front, an organized group that has been leading demonstrations over the course of the past two months, hosted a protest to demand the abolition of the Portland Police Bureau and decry violence against people of color. After an evening gathering at Peninsula Park, marchers headed south on Interstate Avenue, stretching out for about five blocks,” Oregon Live added.

The group eventually ended up at the Portland police union headquarters. They then began tipping Dumpsters to form a barricade for themselves as they attacked the building. Two of the Dumpsters were set on fire, and protesters who breached the building eventually set two small fires inside.

By 10:45, Portland police declared the incident a “riot,” and “[a]round 11:15 p.m., police began pressing protesters to the east. Most protesters did not resist. Police took multiple people into custody,” Oregon Live reported.

Video of the protests and the subsequent fires made it on to social media quickly.

Some protesters returned to the federal courthouse early Sunday morning to create a barricade from pieces of fencing, but police had, by then, cleared the scene.

Meanwhile, people continue to bring the fencing back.

Protesters and Portland city officials — and even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) — decried federal efforts to assist in handling the riots, repeating claims, first raised by demonstrators, that federal agents, without badges or insignia, were “disappearing” protesters, whisking them away in unmarked vehicles to undisclosed locations.

The CBP address those concerns on Saturday, noting that federal agents had been deployed to assist in defending the federal courthouse in Portland, but that CBP officer uniforms did bear the insignia of the Department of Homeland Security. One protester was, indeed, taken to a second location, but, CBP says, not to hide the detainment, but rather to avoid a “large” mob that was advancing on officers.
