'I was with her at the end, holding her hand': Megyn Kelly speaks about her sister who died last week

Media personality Megyn Kelly, who recently revealed that her sister Suzanne passed away unexpectedly last week after a heart attack at the age of 58, spoke more about her late sibling, describing the woman as "a firecracker" who was "strong, funny, wise, but still vulnerable."

Kelly noted that her sister had experienced health problems but that the underlying cause had been unclear.

"She saw specialist after specialist," Kelly said. "Test after test and no diagnosis. She was rail thin and eating was tough," Kelly noted, adding that during the past year, her sister had been in and out of the hospital. "She was released after a short stay just last month," Kelly said. "And then came last Friday when my mom found her unresponsive."

Kelly also said that her sister had previously been addicted to drugs, but later became sober. "She got swept up in the opioid crisis thanks to a doctor who told her a minor painkiller was not addictive," Kelly explained, adding that eventually, her sister got "sober, and rebuilt her life."

Kelly lamented that she did not visit her sister earlier this year.

"She had suggested a visit in August. But we were too busy and I told her I couldn't do it. How I wish I could have that one back," she said mournfully.

"I was with her at the end, holding her hand," Kelly said.

"How I wish I had nurtured our connection more recently. You get busy with your own stuff, focus on your job, your kids, your marriage," she said. "You're not expecting it to suddenly end. Not in your 50's."

"And I will keep reminding people, including myself, that life is too short. This whole thing is fleeting," she said. "Make time for the visits. You never know if it could be the last."

Megyn Kelly's sister dies at 58

Media personality Megyn Kelly disclosed that her 58-year-old sister Suzanne Crossley passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Friday.

Kelly said that her sister had "died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack" — she noted that her sister had not had "very good health over the past couple of years," and there had been "sort of one problem after another."

Kelly, 51, described her sister's death as "sudden" and "unexpected." She noted that after receiving the news, she "went right up and was there with my mom, and my brother Paul, and my, my nephew Brian, one of her three kids, when she passed."

She said that she decided to do her show on Monday, noting that "it's more cathartic to work," and doing so provided her a bit of time in which she could get her mind off of the issue. She said that "later this week" after she gets the opportunity to "process it more," she will speak more about her sister.

Kelly spoke about the importance of staying connected with loved ones and noted that Fox News Channel's Ainsley Earhardt's mother had passed away over the weekend.

Kelly noted that it is "a reminder to hug the people you love, right? How short and tenuous life is, and how important it is to stay close to the people you love. You know, we can't all be perfect on that front, but we can make a little effort day by day just to, you know, shoot a text, or return a call."

She said that she would appreciate it if people would pray "for my mom and my sister's kids and my sister's one grandchild," who are "hurting today."

South Dakota boy, 10, drowns after saving little sister on Big Sioux River

A 10-year-old South Dakota boy gave up his own life while saving his 5-year-old sister from drowning in the Big Sioux River over the weekend.

What are the details?

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office alerted the public Saturday evening that "a large scale rescue operation" was underway at the river in search of a 10-year-old boy. Hours later, they announced that a dive team recovered the body of young Ricky Lee Sneve.

Ricky's mother, Nicole Eufers, told the Sioux Falls Argus Leader that her boy was on the river with his father when "a couple of the siblings fell in the water. Dad jumped in for two of them, and Ricky jumped in to save his sister, Chevelle."

The little boy was able to get Chevelle to the shore, but when his father and the other kids turned around, they could not find Ricky.

"He saved his sister's life and took his own," his mother told the newspaper.

Ricky was the oldest of Eufers' four children and had a fifth sibling. A GoFundMe account set up for the single mother by his uncle states:

"Ricky Lee was a very intelligent and smart young boy who loved his family and was an adventurous little guy. He'd do anything to help his mom or anyone at that, without ever being asked. Ricky gave his life trying to do what he knew was best."

14-year-old girl charged in stabbing death of wheelchair-bound sister as their parents slept

A 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl has been charged with killing her 19-year-old wheelchair-bound sister in their family home, allegedly stabbing her older sibling as their parents slept and calling 911 herself to confess the crime.

What are the details?

The Lancaster County District Attorney's Office said in a press release that 14-year-old Claire Miller has been charged with homicide, is being held in prison without eligibility for bail, and will be tried as an adult in the killing of her older sister, Helen Miller. They noted that "homicide is not considered a delinquent act in Pennsylvania."

WHTM-TV reported that according to court documents, Claire called 911 at around 1:00 a.m. on Monday in hysterics, telling authorities "she killed her sister." According to The Daily Mail, when officers arrived they found Claire outside the residence "covered in blood and trying to wash her hands in the snow." She reportedly said repeatedly, "I stabbed my sister."

When police went inside the family home they found Helen in her room, lying on her back with a blood-stained pillow over her face and a knife still lodged in her neck. Emergency responders were unable to revive her.

Manheim Township Police Chief Tom Rudzinski told WHTM that the murder occurred while the girls' parents were asleep in the same home. No motive has yet been determined.

"When I heard about this I was almost instantly upset about it myself over the details that had been related to me," Rudzinski said. He added, "I don't know that I have ever been a part of something that is quite as sad as this."

WPMT-TV reported that Claire is in the ninth grade at Lancaster Country Day School. Steve Lisk, head of the school, issued a statement saying, "We are surprised by the news of this incident and we're grieving ourselves even as we look to support the family and ensure support for all our students and families within our tight-knit school community."

Sarah Delia, a neighbor of the family, told the outlet in reaction to the tragedy, "It's not the kind of thing we would expect in our neighborhood. It's very quiet and peaceful."
