The Truth About the Caravan Invasion

Have questions about the migrant caravan headed towards the United States border? This is what you need to know:

We'll keep updating this page as news develops, so be sure to check back with Conservative Review for the truth on the migrant caravan invasion.

Trump draws a line with Democrats over the migrant caravan. Will the rest of the GOP step up?

There are just two weeks left in the midterm campaign season, and President Donald Trump is on a mission to make illegal immigration the defining issue of the campaign. As many as an estimated 10,000 people are migrating from Central America, through Mexico, and toward the United States, and Trump has pledged to "stop the onslaught."

He's squarely accused Democrats of refusing to work with Republicans on immigration reform and exacerbating the coming crisis on the southern border.

The president has rightly declared this marching caravan to be a matter of national security. Violent criminal drug cartels take advantage of asylum-seekers, demanding fees to smuggle them across the border and using them to traffic drugs into the United States. The country's backlogged court system and overcrowded detention facilities ensure that many of the migrants arrested for crossing the border illegally are released into the country and disappear, unless they resurface to commit a crime.

But will the president's championing of this issue trickle down to Republican campaigns for Congress?

The problem for Republicans echoing Trump's demands for border security and attacks on the Democrats is that under the leadership of  House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., the GOP declined to have a fight on immigration policy before the midterm elections. Republicans refused to attach needed reforms to any of the must-pass spending bills. If they had done that, they would have been able to corner the Democrats on their open-borders radicalism and force them to choose between their unpopular ideology and shutting down the government. The last time Democrats were given that choice, they picked ideology over common sense, and it backfired on them.

Instead, Republicans punted on the issue, voting to fund the government without a fight and kicking the issue past the election. Now McCarthy has introduced a stand-alone bill to fund the wall, but everyone knows that cannot pass. So how are Republicans going to run on immigration reform and border security when voters just watched them surrender on both fronts this year?

If they are allowed to keep the majority, the message needs to be sent from day one after the election that the Republicans will change the way they do business in Washington D.C. How do they do that? Start by defending Trump's constitutional and statutory authority to repel the migrant caravan attempting to invade the U.S. border. Next, pledge to force a change in House leadership because of Congress' failure to keep promises to repeal Obamacare, cut spending, secure the border, defund Planned Parenthood, and drain the swamp.

Use the midterm elections as an opportunity to reset Congress, refocus the agenda to accomplish President Trump's priorities, and prepare to run in 2020 on achievements accomplished because Republicans fought to keep their promises.

This is an invasion

People who break into this country against the consent of our government and harm Americans are not immigrants; they are invaders. With Congress finally returning from its long vacation, one would expect this growing invasion to be the top concern of legislators. It is the most important job of the federal government to protect citizens from outside harm, and it is also one of the most solvable policy issues. Yet it is covered up by the media and the political class.

Here are several more stories of illegal alien murder and rape just over the past week:

  • Julio Cesar Ayala, a suspected member of MS-13 from El Salvador, was caught by police on Saturday after he allegedly broke into an apartment last Wednesday and raped an 11-year-old girl in her sleep. Ayala was carrying a green card on him, but it’s unclear how he was allowed into this country. This is the quintessential violent demographic we have allowed into the country since 2014 under the guise of DACA and refugee resettlement. It will be interesting to find out if and how this fiend had a legitimate green card. So many of the violent young males who have flooded our country since 2014 have been given green cards because they are erroneously treated as refugees rather than invaders.
  • On Saturday, Neri Damian Cruz-Carmona, a 26-year-old illegal invader, crashed his Honda into a motorcycle while making a reckless left turn and killed Jamar Rashaun Beach in Raleigh, North Carolina. As is the case with many illegal alien vehicular homicides, the suspect initially fled the scene before being apprehended by police.
  • Last week, ICE announced that it had placed a detainer on Eduardo de la Lima Vargas, an illegal alien from Mexico being held on drunk driving and manslaughter charges after he killed a couple on a motorcycle in a drunk-driving homicide. Logan and Jessica Wilson were killed instantly when Vargas, who allegedly had a blood alcohol level of .10 even two hours later, ran through a red light and hit their motorcycle while it was making a left turn. Vargas lived in Marion County, Oregon, which is a sanctuary jurisdiction. The Wilsons leave behind three young orphans because the government failed to protect them from this invasion. According to the local deputy prosecutor, Vargas had a DUI conviction dating back to 2001, but he was placed in a diversion program and was never turned over to federal authorities.
  • Also last week, a pair of illegals from Guatemala, one of whom had eight prior driving offenses since 2014, rammed into a family on a road near Richmond, Virginia, and killed a four-year-old boy while severely wounding his parents and brother. Both suspects fled the scene immediately. The one who has been here for at least five years appears to have an anchor baby living in the country. They get to invade, kill our people, and unilaterally grab citizenship for their kids.

Folks, we have a crisis of criminal aliens, particularly drunk drivers on the road. In general, most states are not tough enough on drunk driving, but when it’s perpetrated by illegal aliens, it is 100 percent avoidable. How many more of these stories do we need to hear about repeat offenders who should never be here in the first place and who should be deported after the first incident, yet are allowed to remain in the country? These tragedies happen every day, and many perpetrators have absconded after offending, yet the media has been complicit in covering up the immigration history of many of the perpetrators because they know the deaths are avoidable.

Congress can pass legislation today requiring states to turn over all illegal aliens arrested for first-time driving offenses so they can be deported before they kill someone. Between punishing sanctuaries and ending identity theft, all of these crimes can be avoided.

When Roger Sherman, among the greatest of all the Founders, noted during the House debate on the Naturalization Act of 1790 that immigration powers were given over to the federal government to prevent states from bringing in undesirable aliens, he certainly never envisioned the carnage of sanctuary cities and the drunk-driving epidemic. It would be foreign to him and others of his time that we’d continue allowing aliens to reside here after committing crimes. “It was intended by the Convention, who framed the Constitution, that Congress should have the power of naturalization, in order to prevent particular States receiving citizens, and forcing them upon others who would not have received them in any other manner” (emphasis added), said Sherman.

Isn’t it time Congress finally clamped down on sanctuaries for murder and mayhem when they have the ability to remove these people before they harm Americans? Illegals murdering Americans inside our country is every bit as bad as if they created a standing army at our border to attack us. Either way, Congress owes it to the people to stop this invasion.
