ALARMING: Why won't American companies build new factories here?

The United States of America was always a country where people came to prosper. But three years have passed since the COVID-19 pandemic began, and the country looks anything but prosperous.

Glenn Beck notes that our government has done exactly the opposite of what it should have done in order to strengthen the people here at home.

“What was the biggest problem with the coronavirus?” he asks. “Who was hurt the most? Seven million people died, yes. Then who was hurt the most?”

“I would say it was the small business, I would say that it was the American way of life. And that is not being told by the federal government what you must and must not do. And I would say the supply chain,” Glenn explains.

When the supply chain was halted because of the pandemic, we were taught something very valuable.

“Go local,” Glenn says.

However, massive corporations and our federal government either don’t recognize the need to localize production, or they don’t want to localize production.

“We’re destroying everything,” Glenn warns. “Degrowth is what’s happening to us right now. That is truly what is happening, and that is intentional.”

Glenn notes that about 80% of all pharmaceuticals come from overseas.

“Why isn’t Pfizer, why aren’t these big American behemoths making new factories here? How come? That would seem logical to me.”

“Why aren’t we talking about a national movement to reopen steel mills when most of our steel comes from overseas? Why? Because they are not planning on any growth,” he adds.

Glenn believes this is an intentional attack by the global elites to keep us reliant on other countries while destroying local communities.

“They’re just making sure that every single community answers to a global government,” he says, adding, “And it’s going to control all of the big financial firms, all of the big corporations, and it will make sure that you cannot do the things that would keep your local community safe.”

COVID-19 lockdowns in Shanghai continue as stores are forced to close and residents in the city's financial district are ordered to stay home

The COVID-19 pandemic may have mostly wound down in the U.S., but in China, it appears to be raging once more as the city of Shanghai, a crucial part of China’s financial apparatus, is requiring supermarkets and shops to shut down and ordering residents to stay home until at least Tuesday.

Reuters reported. that Shanghai’s central Jingan district, which plays a crucial role in the financialization of the Chinese economy, is forcing these new restrictions while also planning to carry out mass covid testing into the first half of the next week.

Exit permits given to residents in the region, which allow people to leave their homes, will be suspended. The local district government did not provide an explanation for the passes' suspension.

This is just the latest development in Shanghai’s renewed war on COVID-19.

In late March, Shanghai — which is China’s largest city — began a phased lockdown as it grappled with a massive surge in cases of the Omicron variant. It was reported that at the time, China was seeing case numbers that it had not experienced since the early days of the pandemic.

The initial Shanghai lockdown involved closing down the eastern side of the city, as determined by being to the east of the Huangpu River, for about a week and then subsequently locking down the western side of the city for a similar length of time.

Along with the lockdowns, the local Communist Party apparatus announced a sophisticated testing regiment to regulate the health of its residents.

Chinese President Xi Jinping said, at the time, that the Chinese Communist Party’s goal was to “minimize the impact” of the virus on the economy as authorities work to uphold the country’s extremely aggressive “zero-COVID policy.”

However, the Shanghai lockdowns not only caused disruptions in the local and national economy of China but have reverberated across the globe and worsened preexisting economic conditions. For instance, CNN reported that the port of Shanghai is the world’s busiest port for shipping container traffic. Shanghai is also a major aviation hub. The recent covid lockdowns have made port delays worse and caused the price of air freight to soar thus greatly exacerbating the ongoing supply chain crisis across the globe.

During the early stages of the lockdown, food orders were being canceled because delivery drivers and suppliers could not meet the demand of Shanghai residents and food delivery services, and people in government-run quarantine facilities were given folk remedies in lieu of medicine due to the limited supply of resources.

Supply chain crisis: 'Shocking' national baby formula shortage forces rationing at major retail chain

There is a national shortage of baby formula, which has forced a large retail chain to impose rationing on the important product for infants.

The supply chain crisis has prompted Walgreens – the second-largest pharmacy store chain in the United States behind CVS – to limit the amount of baby formula that customers can purchase. A spokesperson for the national drugstore chain told CBS MoneyWatch that customers may only buy three infant and toddler formula products per transaction. Walgreens – which operates approximately 9,021 drugstores in all 50 states – said the reason for rationing is because of "increased demand and various supplier issues." The restrictions are already in effect at stores.

CVS is also experiencing baby formula shortages. A CVC Health spokesperson told CBS News that "product supply challenges are currently impacting most of the retail industry." The largest pharmacy store chain said it is working with "national brand baby formula vendors to address this issue and we regret any inconvenience that our customers may be experiencing."

As of the week of March 13, an analysis by Datasembly found that 29% of the top-selling baby formula products were out of stock at more than 11,000 stores. A steep increase from 11% in November.

Datasembly noted that 30% of baby formula was out of stock as of mid-March in 24 U.S. states. Shortages of at least 40% were reported in Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, North and South Dakota, Rhode Island, and Texas. Parents in Minnesota are struggling to secure baby formula since stores are seeing 54% shortages, according to the retail analysis company that provides real-time product information from thousands of stores. In the first seven months of 2021, there were shortages of baby formula between 2% and 8%.

"This is a shocking number that you don't see for other categories," said Ben Reich – CEO of Datasembly. "We've been tracking it over time and it's going up dramatically. We see this category is being affected by economic conditions more dramatically than others."

A shortage of baby formula is concerning since 75% of babies receive at least some formula by the age of 6 months.

Memphis mom Samantha Modely told WREG-TV, "I would normally buy four to six cans at times to get us through the month and I would have to limit that to two. My friend is about to have a baby in August, and I can't imagine being worried about whether you’d be able to go to the local grocery store and grab what you needed it."

San Francisco mother Irene Anhoeck told CBS News, "We've noticed it being difficult to find maybe a couple months ago — two, three months ago — and then just recently we can't find it. We've tried all the local Targets. We checked Costco, Costco online, Walgreens, Long's. Can't find it anywhere."

Enfamil – a leading baby formula brand – said in January that they were dealing with an unprecedented 18% surge in demand for baby formula.

"We have taken steps to ramp up production and are currently shipping 50% more product, to address issues as fast as possible," a spokesperson for Reckitt – maker of Enfamil – said in January.

The Infant Nutrition Council of America assured parents that manufacturers are increasing production to counter the lack of product. The organization also urged parents not to hoard baby formula, and to only keep a supply for 10-to-14 days.

A Scandal For Every Month: The Biggest Botches, Failures, And Mess-Ups Of Joe Biden’s First 12 Months In Office

It's not hard to remember a Biden disaster for every month of his first year at the stern ... or in the basement, as the case may be.

As supply chain woes continue, Biden plans vaccine mandate for non-resident truck drivers entering the US — still no such requirement for illegal aliens

The United States is continuing to experience a supply chain problem. We are seeing shipyards backlogged with shipping containers waiting for truck drivers. The situation has resulted in empty shelves in a lot of stores.

So ... what is President Joe Biden doing to help ensure the U.S. is able to get goods shipped more easily?

Does forcing non-resident truckers crossing the U.S.-Canadian border to show proof of vaccination count? Most observers would say no.

What's happening?

The Biden administration plans to announce a vaccine mandate for non-resident truck drivers and other essential travelers entering the U.S., the Associated Press reported.

The mandate, which takes effect Jan. 22, will bring rules for these essential travelers in line with existing rules for leisure travelers that were implemented Nov. 8 when the U.S. reopened the borders for fully vaccinated people.

Critics pointed out that the move comes at the same time that Americans are witnessing major supply chain disruptions, which includes a shortage of truck drivers.

The Americans Trucking Association warned the government earlier this month that requiring truckers to get jabbed would worsen the crisis in the supply chain, the AP noted.

"While much of the country was sequestered in their homes, the trucking industry served its essential function and did so successfully with safety standards developed by public health experts," ATA President Chris Spear said in an Oct. 21 letter to the White House opposing vaccine requirements for truckers, including the administration's now-suspended OSHA vax mandate, Transport Topics reported. "Now placing vaccination mandates on employers, which in turn force employees to be vaccinated, will create a workforce crisis for our industry and the communities, families and businesses we serve."

Spear warned that vaccine mandates "will have vast unintended consequences."

"The U.S. is already facing unprecedented supply chain disruptions and delays due to many factors, including significant labor shortages, production shutdowns, a shortage of raw materials, and pent-up consumer demand," Spear continued, adding, "Our data shows that a vaccine mandate may very well further cripple the supply chain throughout the country by forcing up to 13% of drivers to leave the industry entirely."

Trucking group Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association also went after the administration over vaccine mandates. The organization's spokeswoman, Norita Taylor, called the jab requirement an example of "how unnecessary government mandates can force experienced owner-operators and independent truckers out of business" and warned that the mandate would "send safe drivers off the road," the AP said.

Canadian truckers aren't happy about it either.

In a story from the Toronto Star headlined, "A trucking nightmare: Supply chain horrors feared as thousands of unvaccinated drivers won't be allowed to cross U.S.-Canada border," Canadian Trucking Alliance President Stephen Laskowski said, "This is making a bad situation a lot worse. It's the perfect storm."

Other critics of the vaccine mandate for border crossers were quick to point out that the administration is now requiring ALL non-U.S. residents who enter the country to be vaccinated — EXCEPT for illegal aliens.

Since Biden was sworn in, approximately 2 million illegal immigrants have come into the U.S. There are currently no vaccine or even COVID testing requirements for illegal aliens.

Nearly 2 million illegal immigrants who crossed into the U.S. this year have no such requirement. Insanity.https://twitter.com/breaking911/status/1463252168656441349\u00a0\u2026
