Navy and Marine Corps veteran Montel Williams says viewing video from Texas outlet mall shooting reminded him why he doesn't own a gun anymore

Montel Williams declared on Twitter that he has given up firearm ownership because he has been impacted by engaging with people who were impacted by shootings.

"Watching the video from the #allenoutletmall shooting reminds me why I am no longer a gun owner. I choose to be the change I want to see in the world," he wrote, referring to the Saturday shooting in Allen, Texas, that left eight victims dead.

"I am no longer a gun owner because I have looked victims of school shootings in the eye, and the look in their eyes is seared in my mind. I've listened to other parents like @fred_guttenberg, educators like @fetchik_andy, and teenagers who survived shootings. That's why," he explained.

Williams engaged with people on social media who replied to his remarks.

"How is disarming yourself, a safe gun owner, stopping any criminals? That's not change," someone asked.

"Hi Alexi - thanks for asking a substantive question It's appreciated. I concede your point - it will have no real world impaxt. It mattered to me. I don't need to own a gun right now. If I decide in the future I do need one, I will buy one," Williams replied.

"That's a dumb take. Afraid you were going to shoot innocents?" someone else wrote to Williams.

"Nope. It's because I'm a father who has been profoundly impacted by spending lots of time with suvivors, their families, and their teachers. I'm not suggesting what I did will have an impact, but I needed to do something. Thank you for your service. Go Navy!" Williams responded.

Williams is a U.S. Naval Academy graduate and a Navy and Marine Corp veteran, according to his Instagram profile.

"Each person has the right to do what is best for them. With that said, and I am not being snarky here, all you really did was make sure that if your family gets caught a dangerous situation, you have no way to protect them now," someone else wrote.

Williams replied by noting that he lives in Miami, and that if her were in danger he would seek help from police. "We have police in this country m'am. I live in Miami - there is a constant police presence in my area, so I’d call 911," Williams tweeted.

Gina Carano wonders why there's no backlash to Susan Sarandon's Holocaust post that is nearly identical to the one she shared that got her fired from Disney

Avowed leftist Susan Sarandon posted a message on social media that compared the current political climate to Nazi Germany. Conservative-leaning Gina Carano shared an image similar to the one Sarandon posted. However, only Carano suffered so much backlash that she lost a major Hollywood.

In February 2021, Carano posted a message on her Instagram with a photo of people living in terror during the Lviv pogroms of 1941.

The post read: “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbors…even by children.”

“Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews,” the post said. “How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”

The post warning about dehumanizing other human beings because of their political leanings drew outrage.

The next day, Lucasfilm issued a statement that said, “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”

The same day, the influential United Talent Agency (UTA) dropped Carano as a client.

At the time, Carano was a star on the massively popular Disney series "The Mandalorian." Being fired from the Disney+ "Star Wars" TV series was a major blow for the MMA fighter turned actress.

Carano believed the message "would bring people together."

"But now after hearing so much, I actually have grown through the experience of [realizing] it’s not fair to the Jewish community to just throw this out here so much," Carano said. "When you say the word ‘Nazi’ and when you call someone a ‘Nazi,’ you need to have a little bit more respect on it. So, I understand that. But it was in no way my intention."

This week, Susan Sarandon posted a similar post on social media that read:

It didn’t start with gas chambers. It started with one party controlling the media. One party controlling the message. One party deciding what is truth. One party censoring speech and silencing opposition. One party dividing citizens into ‘us’ and ‘them’ and calling on their supporters to harass ‘them.’ It started when good people turned a blind eye and let it happen.

Sarandon's tweet racked up nearly 200,000 likes.

Carano reacted to Sarandon's post with a snarky GIF questioning the apparent double standard.

Sarandon currently stars in the TV series "Monarch" that airs on Fox and Hulu – which Disney both owns. Since posting the Holocaust meme on Monday, Sarandon has yet to face any real backlash or cancel culture pressure.

After sparking outrage with social media post, Susan Sarandon issues apology to the families of two slain NYPD officers

Actress Susan Sarandon, who recently faced criticism for an anti-police social media post, has issued an apology to the families of two fallen NYPD officers.

Sarandon's outrageous post, which appears to have been deleted, included a tweet from Danny Haiphong. Haiphong's tweet featured a photo of a large number of police officers honoring slain NYPD officer Jason Rivera, who was fatally shot in the line of duty last month. "I'm gonna tell my kids this is what fascism looks like," Haiphong wrote.

In addition to Haiphong's tweet, the post on Sarandon's account also said, "So, if all these cops weren't needed for CRIME that day, doesn't that mean they aren't needed ANY day?"

Sarandon now says that she regrets the social media post.

"I deeply regret the meme I recently shared on Twitter that included Officer Jason Rivera's funeral. I reacted quickly to the picture without connecting it to a police funeral and I realize now how insensitive and deeply disrespectful it was to make that point at that time. I sincerely apologize to the family of Officer's Rivera and Mora for causing additional pain during their time of grieving," Sarandon said in her statement.

Rivera and officer Wilbert Mora were fatally shot last month in the line of duty. Each of the men was posthumously promoted to detective first grade, according to NBC News.

Sarandon had faced criticism on social media for the original post.

"So totally offensive in SO many ways. PLEASE feel free to NEVER call 911---EVER. My son (LA County Deputy) became a cop following his father's footsteps --who was killed in the line of DUTY...." one person tweeted.

Lefty Susan Sarandon taken to the woodshed for comparing cops gathered to honor murdered NYPD officer to 'fascists'

Liberal actress and activist Susan Sarandon was hit heavily with criticism after she shared a social media post comparing the NYPD's funeral turnout to "fascism" and suggested that cops are not needed for a functional society.

Thousands of NYPD officers gathered on Friday to honor their murdered brother in blue, Detective Jason Rivera, after he and his partner were killed in an ambush-style attack while responding to a domestic incident.

What are the details?

The actress shared a social media post from writer Danny Haiphong, which showed the huge turnout for the slain officer and was captioned, "I'm gonna tell my kids this is what fascism looks like."

She shared a screenshot of the image in apparent endorsement and captioned the snap, "So, if all these cops weren't needed for CRIME that day, doesn't that mean they aren't needed ANY day?" She added hashtag #abolishthepolice to the screenshot.

What's been the response?

One commenter wrote, "Susan— I also disappointed in you. Left wing is one thing but being inconsiderate of our finest is just wrong on so many levels. You owe the officer's family along with the force an apology. Your comment is reprehensible."

Another added, "One woman lost her husband and the other lost her son. They were protecting a mother from her abusive son when they were assassinated. These officers come from all over the country to pay respects and support the families. #ShameOnYou There, but before the grace of God."

Yet another user spat, "[E]xtremely wrong of you to make these two honorable gentlemen your personal pawns in your dumb little game."

One police mom shared her own personal story of how her family was affected by the star's remarks and added, "So totally offensive in SO many ways. PLEASE feel free to NEVER call 911---EVER. My son (LA County Deputy) became a cop following his father's footsteps --who was killed in the line of DUTY...."

"It [is] the logic of a three-year-old," another user wrote. "I suggest she does the duties of a cop for a year and then let's see how fascist she thinks they are. Cops protect little children, rescue those in distress and vulnerable everywhere. All she does it talk for a living."

Another Twitter user ripped her for being "disgusting" and said the actress was redundant.

"You are disgusting!! We need police officers, we absolutely DON'T need worthless 'actors/actresses' like you! So pathetic to disrespect the fallen officers and their families. You should be next on the 'cancel culture' list!!" the user thundered.

Susan Sarandon warns Democrats could lose in 2022 and 2024, blasts Biden: 'Where are the $2K checks you promised?'

Actress Susan Sarandon called out President Joe Biden over his promise of $2,000 COVID-19 stimulus checks. The Hollywood activist also warned the Democrats that they could lose elections in 2022 and 2024 if they attempt to do a "bait and switch" with the coronavirus relief package.

With Americans struggling financially because of the coronavirus lockdowns, Sarandon took to Twitter to take Democrats to task.

"Where are the $2K checks you promised @JoeBiden @KamalaHarris @ReverendWarnock @ossoff? At a time when only 39% of Americans could afford a $1,000 emergency & over 15 million have lost employer-sponsored health insurance, the diff between $1,400 & $2K is a matter of survival," Sarandon tweeted.

The progressive activist tagged President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, as well as newly elected senators from Georgia Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff. All four of the Democrats promised $2,000 coronavirus stimulus checks, and promoted the funds heavily during the campaign for Ossoff and Warnock.

In January, Sarandon told Ossoff and Warnock to "please fight for the $2,000 check" that the politicians had promised.

Sarandon, 74, included a video compilation of Democrats saying they will provide Americans with $2,000 stimulus checks.

Currently, the government is expected to issue $1,400 stimulus checks as part of the $1.9 trillion emergency aid package that was passed by the Democratic-controlled Congress early Friday morning. A Politico report said Biden "remained firm on the size of the $1,400 payment."

The upcoming stimulus checks are expected to be more targeted, and "upper-income taxpayers" will likely be barred from receiving payment or the total amount will be diminished for high earners.

If voters feel like Dems are pulling a bait and switch, don't be surprised when they don't show up in 2022 or 2024.

Sarandon, who is an ardent supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), warned that if Democrats don't issue $2,000 coronavirus stimulus checks then they could be voted out in the 2022 midterms and the 2024 general election.

"If voters feel like Dems are pulling a bait and switch, don't be surprised when they don't show up in 2022 or 2024," she wrote.

Commenters noted that the $600 stimulus check that was issued in December and the anticipated $1,400 check adds up to $2,000.

The Oscar-winning actress asked, "Even if Dems meant $1,400 the entire time, the fact is that voters heard and were expecting $2,000 'IMMEDIATELY,' not maybe $1,400 some time in late spring. Is it really worth it to lose Dem voters in 2022 and 2024 over $600?"

The Daily Wire reported that some Democrats attacked Sarandon for demanding the Biden administration keep its promise of $2,000 checks.

One Twitter user blasted Sarandon, "God, here we go... The Dems will lose votes when hardcore leftist ideologues like yourself tweet nonsense like this out."

The actress replied, "Got it. So if Dems lose in 2022 and 2024 it's because I Tweeted and not because voters who desperately need $2,000 think they lied."

Last week, President Biden and the Democratic Party were ripped by their own supporters over the amount of the COVID-19 stimulus checks. Democratic voters voiced their displeasure online and demanded $2,000 stimulus checks that they were promised. One person even threatened, "Never voting D again."
