Video: Another group of suspected illegal aliens arrives in California by boat — then quickly flees scene on foot

Another large group of suspected illegal aliens arrived in the United States by boat, according to a video shared recently on social media, the New York Post reported.

The video, captured Thursday morning, showed approximately two dozen individuals offloading from a small ship docked at a marina in Newport Beach, California. The suspected illegal immigrants are seen hopping over the fence to exit the harbor. One man appears to cover his face as he walks past the cameraman. The individuals seem to split off from one another, heading in separate directions toward the neighborhood across the street from the harbor, the video showed.

Newport Beach Mayor Will O’Neill addressed the video in a post on X, writing, “I’m aware of a video showing a mass of people offloading from a boat in our Harbor. I’ve been in touch with the [Orange County] Sheriff’s Department who patrols our Harbor to find out how we can do better.”

O.C. Sheriff Don Barnes recently reported that maritime smuggling operations are becoming more common, with a nearly 140% increase from 2020 to 2023. He noted that “state restrictions on communications with federal partners hinder” Harbor Patrol’s efforts to combat illegal immigration.

“The state should repeal laws that restrict communication with our federal partners,” Barnes said, referring to California’s "sanctuary policies," which prevent local law enforcement agencies from coordinating and cooperating with Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.

O’Neill said that he “wholeheartedly” agrees with Barnes, stating that “our law enforcement’s hands get tied behind their backs by Sacramento’s ‘sanctuary state’ policies.”

“Our nation’s border crisis is serious, lawless, and dangerous. The approaches taken by the administrations in D.C. and Sacramento have made it significantly worse,” O’Neill continued. “As it has been said, every city is now a border city. We must expect better from people in charge of enforcing our laws.”

In April, a video shared online showed a large group of suspected illegal aliens arriving at a Carlsbad beach by boat.

North County leaders are calling federal and state authorities to secure San Diego’s borders. This comes after Saturday’s incident where a boat carrying migrants sped up to the shore in Carlsbad. #viralvideos #migrants #border #sandiego #beach #carlsbad #carlsbadcalifornia #news #localnews #boat #panga #immigrant #immigration #foryou #foryoupage #videoviral #viralditiktok #lifeguards #shore #coastal #borderpatrol #northcountysd #sd #suv #pressconference #federal #state

The man who recorded the video told KGTV, “To see it live like that. I mean, even police and border patrol said they never caught it live like I did.”

“So to see one coming toward the shore at 40, 45 miles an hour and not turning, it was like a movie ... and the lifeguards were sitting right there, so I thought it was a planned, staged event,” he added.

According to him, 22 people jumped off the ship after beaching it and leaving it behind.

“It looked like a military exercise,” he said.

About half of the individuals jumped in an SUV and fled the scene, the man noted. Another video captured the vehicle dramatically speeding away while one individual was still attempting to jump into the backseat. The remaining illegal immigrants “started walking towards Carlsbad,” the man stated.

Ford delays production of new electric vehicle amid slowing market — still plans to 'build a full EV line-up'

Ford announced on Thursday that it will push back the production of its new electric vehicle as the market for EVs continues to slow.

The automaker had plans to unveil a new three-row electric SUV in 2025 but now says it will not begin production until 2027. The vehicle will be manufactured at its Oakville, Ontario, plant.

"The additional time will allow for the consumer market for three-row EVs to further develop and enable Ford to take advantage of emerging battery technology, with the goal to provide customers increased durability and better value," the automaker wrote in a recent press release.

Jim Farley, Ford's president and CEO, acknowledged that postponing production of the new EV would affect plant workers.

"We value our Canadian teammates and appreciate that this delay will have an impact on this excellent team," Farley stated. "We are fully committed to manufacturing in Canada and believe this decision will help us build a profitably growing business for the long term."

Ford vowed to work with the trade union to mitigate the impact on Oakville's workers.

Bev Goodman, president and CEO of Ford Canada, said, "We are committed to taking care of our valued Oakville employees through this transition."

"While this change requires a revision to the timeline, it will support a viable and growing future for our company, employees and dealers," Goodman added.

Ford previously declared that it would debut its new all-electric pickup truck in late 2025, Fox Business reported, but the latest company press release stated that customer deliveries will begin in 2026. According to the automaker, the truck's production at its Tennessee plant is "progressing on track."

The news outlet reported that Ford lost $4.7 billion on its EVs in 2023 and is projected to lose another $5-$5.5 billion in 2024. Despite the losses, Ford recently reaffirmed its commitment to developing its EV fleet.

"The company continues to invest in a broad set of EV programs as it works to build a full EV line-up. These initiatives support the development of a differentiated and profitably growing EV business over time while Ford serves customers with the right mix of gas, hybrid and electric vehicles based on demand today," Ford said Thursday.

The automaker also announced plans to expand its hybrid EV line-up.

"By the end of the decade, the company expects to offer hybrid powertrains across its entire Ford Blue lineup in North America. In the first quarter of 2024, Ford's electric vehicle sales increased by 86% and hybrid sales rose 42% versus a year ago," it added.

"As the No. 2 EV brand in the U.S. for the past two years, we are committed to scaling a profitable EV business, using capital wisely and bringing to market the right gas, hybrid and fully electric vehicles at the right time," Farley stated. "Our breakthrough, next-generation EVs will be new from the ground up and fully software enabled, with ever-improving digital experiences and a multitude of potential services."

Last month, the Biden administration rolled out the "strongest-ever" vehicle emission standards in an effort to push Americans away from gas-powered vehicles.

Farley responded to the Environmental Protection Agency's new regulations, stating, "The @EPA final rule is ambitious and challenging, and meeting these goals will require close public-private cooperation. @Ford is absolutely committed to lowering CO2 emissions while offering customers real choice across hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles."

The United Auto Workers, which represents approximately 57,000 Ford workers, also supported the EPA's new standards.

"We reject the fearmongering that says tackling the climate crisis must come at the cost of union jobs. Ambitious and achievable regulations can support both. We call on the Biden Administration to hold automakers accountable so that this rule is not used as an excuse to cut or offshore jobs," the UAW said.

Climate activists deflate tires on Portland mom's SUV; note on door says her 'gas guzzler kills' and to not take 4 newly flat tires 'personally'

Nicole Driscoll had no time to spare Thursday morning. The Portland mom needed to get her kids to school and then had a 10 a.m. meeting, KGW-TV reported.

But when she got to her SUV, she found a note on one of the door handles, the station said, which read, in part: "Attention, your gas guzzler kills. We have deflated one or more of your tires. You'll be angry, but don't take it personally. It's not you, it's your car."

Driscoll told KGW she was "in disbelief" over the words and quickly exited her vehicle to check her tires.

'Holy crap'

"I looked, and I was like, 'Holy crap, they did; they deflated my tires,'" she recounted to the station.

All four of them, actually, KGW reported.

The note in question came from the website of an international climate movement spreading to cities across the world, the station said, adding that people are encouraged to deflate SUV tires in the name of climate change and pollution reduction.

Driscoll, who works for a nonprofit, told KGW she understands activism — but this act was taking things too far and put her "in total emergency mode" during which her AAA service came to fix her tires.

"I get activism, I appreciate it, but not in this form," she told the station. "Don't mess with people's property."

She added to KGW that there are plenty of other ways to create change that don't include property damage.

"We need volunteers," Driscoll told the station. "We need a lot of volunteers. There's a lot of good things that can be done in this city, and this is not one of them."

She added to KGW that the tires on vehicles belonging to her neighbors were also deflated.

The station said Oregon law indicates that deflating a tire is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and subject to fines that can reach $1,250.

63-year-old man dies after suspect carjacks him, drags him behind his own vehicle for over 2 miles

Larry Walker, a 63-year-old man from La Habra, California, died violently when he was carjacked and dragged behind his own vehicle for over two miles, police said.

The circumstances leading to Walker's death began with an investigation into a murder that occurred about an hour north in Reseda back in late July. Police suspected that Joshua Reneau, 31, may have been involved in that murder, and the LAPD fugitive task force began surveilling him.

Last Thursday, police said they spotted Reneau leaving a residence on the 5900 block of 7th Avenue in South Los Angeles. He and at least one other man reportedly entered a Toyota Prius. Reneau entered a rear passenger seat, while Jamal Sutherland, 34, reportedly got into the driver's seat. The identity of a possible third male in the car is unknown.

Police began tailing the Prius in a marked vehicle. Once Reneau and Sutherland discovered the marked cop car, they supposedly attempted to evade it, prompting a police chase.

At some point during the chase, the Prius crashed into another vehicle. Reneau then reportedly jumped out of the back seat of the Prius and carjacked a nearby SUV — an SUV that belonged to 63-year-old Walker.

Reneau then allegedly carjacked Walker and attempted to commandeer his vehicle. Unfortunately, Walker became entangled in his seat belt and could not extract himself from the car. Rather than concern himself with Walker's welfare, Reneau supposedly began driving with Walker stuck underneath the vehicle.

Police stated that the chase continued for another two or three miles, and Walker remained helplessly stuck underneath the SUV. Eventually, the SUV Reneau was driving struck two police cars near Prairie and Florence Avenues in Inglewood and then flipped over, rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Though Reneau appeared to be surrounded by law enforcement, he allegedly continued to resist arrest. Police said he refused to leave the incapacitated SUV for over two hours, despite suffering some injuries in the crash. He eventually left the vehicle, was placed under arrest, and taken to a county jail hospital to treat his injuries.

Walker was pronounced dead at the crash site. Investigators said he died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Reneau is currently booked without bail on unknown felony charges. He is expected to face additional charges in Walker's death. According to jail records, Reneau was also arrested for unspecified felonies in February 2021 and January 2022. He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Sutherland, the alleged Prius driver, has also been charged with felony evasion.

Police still believe that Reneau, Derek Hall, 28, of West Covina, and Miracole Brown, 20, of South L.A. were involved in the July homicide.
