Massive 'Jews for Trump' rally in NYC, pro-Trump caravan attacked with rocks, eggs and paint

There was a massive pro-Trump car parade on Sunday in New York City. The parade was touted as the "largest Jewish car parade in history." Vehicles left from Coney Island to drive by Trump Tower in Manhattan and finish with a Trump rally in a park in Brooklyn.

The convoy of cars and trucks plastered with "Trump 2020" flags reportedly stretched for miles. Former NYC Mayor and President Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani was also seen mixed in with the parade in Manhattan.

The "Jews for Trump" caravan was attacked by people throwing projectiles, including paint, eggs, and rocks, according to SV News. The egg-thrower allegedly made the mistake of recording himself throwing eggs at the vehicles and uploading the video online.

Horowitz: While Andrew Cuomo uses law enforcement to target New York Jews, violent criminals terrorize subways

The Revolutionary War was fought, in the words of Sam Adams on Aug. 1, 1776, to determine whether "there shall be left to mankind an asylum on earth for civil and religious liberty." The purpose of just governance is laid out plainly in our Constitution — to "secure the blessings of liberty," but at the same time to "establish justice" and "ensure domestic tranquility." New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo flipped this founding principle upside down by using government to harass New York's Jews and target their inalienable rights, while releasing criminals and blithely ignoring the violence on the streets. Indeed, revolutions have been fought over lesser abuses and usurpations.

After Cuomo singled out the Orthodox Jewish community by name for causing the increased spread in the virus (which is occurring in almost every part of the world), inspectors from many state enforcement agencies fanned out in their communities to issue citations. One local Jewish publication took a picture of a target list from inspectors, which revealed that every business or institution on the list was Jewish. In what makes the revolutionary-era British tax collectors and the Townshend Acts look like a liberty paradise, there are now city inspectors harassing Jewish business owners and falsely accusing them of not complying with recent coronavirus restrictions.

Jewish restaurant owner pleads with misinformed NYC inspector who is citing him with a court summons/fine for “viol… https://t.co/04KtkYsQat
— SV News 🚨 (@SV News 🚨)1603240603.0

While Cuomo is very concerned about a temporary rise in cases because it interferes with the optics of his book release, he doesn't appear to be bothered by large gatherings that are not Jewish. Last week, a wedding planned for the granddaughter of a known Rabbi in the city was shut down by Cuomo. Yet just two days earlier, not a word was said by Cuomo or his officials about a large BLM rally for Breonna Taylor in Manhattan.

Cuomo has also targeted in-person classes of Jewish schools in certain zip codes, even though his own data from randomized testing shows no statistical spread of the virus by New York City schoolchildren.

Closing religious schools, houses of worship, and businesses … these are the things that were not tampered with even by King George. Revolutions were fought over less.

But it gets worse. You might think that Governor Cuomo and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio have so many resources on hand to pursue a war against civil and religious liberty, particularly targeting Jews, because the city is safe from crime. Not a chance! New York City is experiencing its worst increase in crime since the early 1990s, and the subways are beginning to look like they did during the days of David Dinkins.

The family of Bi He, 73, and husband Ren Bao, 82, would sure have wanted Cuomo's laser-beam focus on obeying laws to have been present in the Brooklyn subway on Monday when they and their grandson were brutally attacked. Bi He had her foot twisted, was shoved onto the tracks, and would have been run over if not for the quick reaction by the train conductor of the oncoming subway car. Unfortunately for them and for the increasing number of subway attack victims, the attacker was likely not Jewish, so Cuomo won't flood the subways with inspectors and police

The previous evening, a man was randomly shot in the neck while waiting on a subway platform in Manhattan. Last Friday night, a 30-year-old woman was found dead, face-down in a Brooklyn subway. Every week, there are more brazen and heinous assaults committed on the subways, often targeting elderly people.

The lack of deterrent against subway violence stemming from the breakdown in law and order is emblematic of the broader problem on New York's streets this year. Overall, the number of shooting incidents in the city increased 127% in September over the same period last year. And while Cuomo and de Blasio criminalize basic life, liberty, and property under the puerile assumption that they can stop a virus, they are using the same virus as a pretext to keep thousands of criminals out of state and city jails. Meanwhile, the NYPD is catching these same people committing more crimes after they are released.

So, with all this crime and mayhem, where are the police? I guess Cuomo is too busy patrolling Jewish weddings. After all, he wants to keep everyone safe.

Police try to shut down celebration during Jewish holiday. Cuomo issues new 'draconian' measures, and community comes together to burn masks in the street.

A large group of Orthodox Jews took to the streets in Brooklyn on Monday in celebration of Jewish holiday of Sukkot. Police attempted to intervene but were pushed out by revelers.

Following the event, New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced what he referred to as a "cluster action initiative" — an attempt to target red zone hot spot areas such as Brooklyn and Queens, as well as Broome, Orange, and Rockland counties across the state.

Cuomo's announcement then prompted a second mass group to converge on the city's streets on Tuesday, and its members burned their masks in response.

Police attempt to break up wild Monday dance party — and fail

On Monday, police attempted to forcefully break up a large group of people celebrating the Jewish holiday of Sukkot — which began last Friday and will end this Friday — in the Crown Heights neighborhood.

According to a Tuesday Newsweek report, members of the New York Police Department were ultimately unable to disperse the crowd. No arrests were made, and no citations were issued.

The Gothamist reported that the officers' actions only prompted "indifference and hostility from Orthodox revelers who continued dancing even in the face of police orders."

The outlet reported that "hundreds" of Jews gathered for the gathering.

"Video from the event shows police officers — including some from the NYPD's Community Affairs Unit — imploring the densely packed crowd to follow state law's intended to prevent the spread of COVID-19," the outlet reported. "'Please get onto the sidewalk,' an officer pleads. 'You will be allowed to dance on the sidewalk.'"

As seen in the video, the group apparently has no intention of following the officers' orders, and instead, begins dancing more frenetically while pushing back at the police.

Shortly afterward, the officers ended up leaving the scene.

Gov. Cuomo's initiative

On Tuesday, Gov. Cuomo addressed the issue of the large gatherings and announced his new initiative.

"I spoke to members of the Orthodox Jewish community today," Cuomo said. "I spoke to the leaders myself this morning. We had a very good conversation. ... I have been very close to the Orthodox community for many years. I understand the imposition this is going to place on them, and I said to them I need their cooperation. The Torah speaks about how certain religious obligations can be excused, if you are going to save a life. This is about saving a life."

Cuomo added, "No large gatherings in synagogues to save a life. You look at where the infection rate is, you look at those clusters, people will die in those clusters and this is about protecting people and saving lives."

In a statement in response to Cuomo's mandate, state Sen. Simcha Felder, Assemblyman Simcha Eichenstein, and Councilmen Kalman Yeger and Chaim Deutsch slammed Cuomo, and accused him of engaging in a "duplicitous bait-and-switch."

"Outrageously, just hours later, Governor Cuomo announced a draconian return to restrictions that would shutter thousands of New York businesses and limit houses of worship to a maximum capacity of 10 (no matter the maximum capacity of the building)," the statement said.

"[Cuomo's] rhetoric in recent days has been irresponsible and pejorative, particularly to a community of Holocaust survivors and their descendants, for whom his language was reminiscent of past verbal attacks on Jewish communities," the statement added. "Governor Cuomo's choice to single out a particular religious group, complete with a slideshow of photos to highlight this point, was outrageous."

The initiative, effectively, would close schools, limit attendance at synagogues, and close nonessential businesses in "red zone" areas.

You can read more about the initiative here.

What happened on Tuesday night?

As seen in several videos circulating on social media, a massive group appeared on the streets of Brooklyn Tuesday night to protest against Cuomo's new initiative.

Those members of the large group did not appear to be socially distanced, and many of them were not wearing any face coverings.

According to Newsweek, the New York Fire Department showed up at the scene of at least one Tuesday night demonstration to extinguish a pile of burning masks.

The outlet notes that a "line of people [appeared] to briefly try and block the firefighters' attempts to put out the blaze."

Haaretz on Wednesday reported that protesters in Borough Park were joined by radio host Heshy Tischler and City Council Representative Kalman Yeger. Both, according to the outlet, "encouraged the crowd to stand up for religious freedom."

"We are not going to be deprived of the right that we have in America, like everybody else in America, the right to observe our religion," Yeger said. "I don't care who in government thinks that they can stop us, they're wrong. Let them try."

Tischler later visited Crown Heights, where he told protesters, "We have a court order, we won, our schools and shuls are open, we will not close. ... And here's the deal, I'm filing a new court order, I'm holding Cuomo and the idiot de Blasio in contempt. We will civil disobedience ... our amendments, our first amendments, our rights, we will not close our shuls Simchas Torah!"

Members of the crowd also chanted, "Jewish lives matter!" according to Haaretz.

Man wearing 'Patriot Prayer' hat shot and killed in Portland following clashes between Trump supporters and counterprotesters

One person was shot and killed in Portland on Saturday night as a pro-Trump vehicle caravan drove through the city and was met by counterprotesters.

Approximately 600 vehicles donned with flags and signs showing support for President Donald Trump participated in a rally on Saturday. The caravan and counterprotesters antagonized each other throughout the day as counterprotesters threw objects and stole flags, while some Trump supporters shot paintballs.

The situation escalated when a person was shot. The Portland Police Bureau said in a statement that the shooting happened at 8:46 p.m., and officers arrived at the scene "within a minute." The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

Portland Police did not apprehend the shooter, and they do not have any information on the suspect at this time. Police said a homicide investigation is underway.

The New York Times reported that the man who was fatally shot was wearing a hat with the insignia of Patriot Prayer, a right-wing group based out of Portland. The shooting victim also had a side satchel with what appears to be a Blue Lives Matter flag on it.

It was unclear if the shooting was connected to the caravan or the protests. Portland Police noted, "By about 8:30 p.m., the caravan of vehicles had left downtown."

"It is still early in this investigation, and I ask everyone to give the detectives time to do their important work before drawing conclusions about what took place," said Police Chief Chuck Lovell. "If anyone can provide information about this case, I ask them to please reach out to our detectives. This violence is completely unacceptable and we are working diligently to find and apprehend the individual or individuals responsible."

"It is important for detectives get a full and accurate picture of what happened before, during, and after the shooting," a Portland Police statement read. "If anyone was a witness, has video, or has information about the homicide, they're asked to contact the primary detectives."

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D), who on Friday told President Donald Trump to "stay away" and declined federal assistance to quell violence in the city, said through a spokesperson that he would address the fatal shooting on Sunday.

"Will be transparent with the public," Wheeler told OPB. "Asking for people to remain calm and not add to this tragedy."

On Sunday morning, Trump tweeted, "The National Guard is Ready, Willing and Able. All the Governor has to do is call!"
