'Snow White' actress says backlash over woke reboot was due to her 'outspokenness' — tells Latino actors to 'know their worth'

Actress Rachel Zegler, who played the title character in Disney's remake of "Snow White," said that performers need to be "fearless and loud" and that backlash she received was a product of her "outspokenness."

Zegler was recently listed as a trailblazer for Latino actors and actresses when she gave the comments, Bounding into Comics reported.

As part of the "Latino Power List 2023," Zegler wasted no time expressing that she believes actors from a similar background face obstacles in being heard.

"It’s an honor to be recognized in a way that both celebrates our heritage and lifts up the contributions we all make to this industry, where it can be particularly hard for us to be seen and heard in a meaningful way."

“I still don’t think I’m quite ready for the life I already have, despite being extremely grateful for it and for every opportunity it has brought me,” she told the Wrap. Zegler also reportedly mentioned to the outlet how a new generation of young girls seeing a Latina Snow White was incredibly important, with the site describing it as "revolutionary."

Zegler continued the race-based advice column by downplaying the backlash she received from her remarks regarding the Disney reboot. The actress chalked up the public's resentment to her "outspokenness."

“To young Latino performers coming up in the industry, I would tell them to know their worth and to make sure they’re loud about having seats at the tables they deserve to be at,” she said. “I have learned the hard way that we have to be fearless and loud in order to be heard and to prepare for the backlash that occasionally comes with that outspokenness.”

The young actress infamously referred to the Prince Charming character as a stalker while speaking to media at a Disney event.

"The original cartoon came out in 1937, and very evidently so," Zegler said. "There's a big focus on her love story with a guy who literally stalks her. Weird. Weird. So we didn't do that this time."

"We have a different approach to what I'm sure a lot of people will assume is a love story just because we, like, cast a guy in the movie," the 22-year-old added.

It just gets worse and worse....

The movie received a different type of backlash from actor Dylan Postl, who made several talk-show appearances criticizing the production for not casting any dwarf actors.

"These are roles made for actors of my stature. ... I can't go for the Harrison Ford or the George Clooney roles," Postl explained.

Guilty until proven innocent? UK Parliament TARGETS Russell Brand’s Rumble & TikTok

Condemnation before investigation is becoming all too common in the internet age, and Russell Brand has just become the latest example.

Several women have come forward to accuse the comedian of sexual abuse, and prior to any real investigation, the censorship police are already taking action.

Members of the United Kingdom Parliament have reportedly been sending a letter to social media platforms like TikTok and Rumble, saying they’re concerned that Brand could be profiting off of the platforms.

“I’m writing concerning the serious allegations regarding Russell Brand, in the context as a user with more than 2.2 million followers on the platform,” the letter reads.

“While we recognize that TikTok is not the creator of the content published by Mr. Brand, and his content may be within the Community Guidelines set out by the platform, we are concerned that he may be able to profit from his content on the platform,” the letter continues, noting that Brand has engaged in “potentially illegal behavior.”

“I have a big problem with this,” Sara Gonzales says. “You can get accused of something, and the British government is going to pressure a company, an independent company, to stop paying you.”

“What world am I living in right now?” she asks.

Host of "The Liz Wheeler Show," Liz Wheeler, agrees.

“I can tell you right off the bat that if allegations come from anonymous sources, and they aren’t coming through police, and they’re coming 15 years later through a news organization — I’m not sure that we should give them credibility,” Wheeler tells Gonzales.

“As an accused, you have to have the right to defend yourself, and you can’t defend yourself unless you know who your accuser is,” she continues.

Wheeler also notes that as a Hollywood celebrity, Brand likely did engage in degenerate behavior — but that doesn’t mean he’s guilty of rape.

“The fact that this isn’t a criminal accusation, the fact that this is a news report obviously intended to smear his character,” she continues, “that should awaken everyone to the implications of what this means for our husbands and our brothers and our sons if an accusation can cause social ostracization.”

Video: Militant pro-transgender activists rage, attack speaker at women's rights event in New Zealand, leading her to evacuate

Militant pro-transgender activists were caught on video raging and attacking a speaker at a recent women's rights event in New Zealand, leading the speaker to evacuate.

What are the details?

British anti-trans activist Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull — aka Posie Parker — took the stage Saturday in Auckland's Albert Park as part of her "Let Women Speak" tour, and the New Zealand Herald reported that more than 2,000 showed up to protest her.

One protester rushed toward her and poured a bottle of juice over her head, the paper said, and then sprayed one of Keen-Minshull’s security guards before being led away.

Fights broke out with pushing and shoving as protesters faced down Keen-Minshull’s much smaller group, the Herald said.

Indeed, protesters "galvanized by the LGBTQIA+ community" drowned out Keen-Minshull with drums, chants of “go home,” and even a Whitney Houston song playing over loudspeakers, the paper added.

A barrier that was supposed to keep the two groups apart was pushed down, the Herald said.

Soon, Keen-Minshull was led away as a handful of individuals tried to protect her and struggled to keep the raging mob away from her before she reached the safety of a police car:

Keen-Minshull said she had “never been as frightened” and felt that her life had been in danger, the Herald said.

She later posted the following on Twitter:

\u201cThe bravery of the New Zealand women and men who came to speak the truth shall not be forgotten. I was honoured to be amongst you. I\u2019m so sorry. #LetWomenSpeakAuckland #LetWomenSpeak\u201d

A statement released later by Speak Up for Women said a planned Wellington speaking engagement was canceled after the Albert Park event was “overrun by a violent mob," the paper noted.

Keen-Minshull said prior to being shut down that she was in New Zealand to “give women who feel gaslit by the state [the ability] to speak about the rights they are losing," the Herald said.

Politicians and other social commentators have criticized her intensely for asserting that people cannot change their sex, the paper added.

J.K. Rowling blasts pro-trans militants

"Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling, who has previously been criticized for her stance on transgender topics in their relation to women, described the protests as “repellent scenes” in which “a mob assaulted women speaking up for their rights."

"Women have become used to lies, threats of violence and outright denial of reality, but if you imagine anyone feels 'defeated', think again," Rowling said on Twitter.

Chris Philp, a New Zealand member of Parliament, called the attack on Keen-Minshull "unacceptable."

“The way women’s rights have been threatened by the trans movement is deeply concerning," Philp told TalkTV, adding that Keen-Minshull "has every right to express her views" and shouldn't have to be "abused by a baying mob."

Keen-Minshull is scheduled to speak in Ireland in April, Fox News reported.

UK nurse shocks live TV audience: 'If you’ve voted Conservative, you do not deserve to be resuscitated by the NHS'

After President Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981, as he was about to undergo surgery, he joked to the doctors, "I sure hope all of you out there are Republicans!" His surgeon, a liberal Democrat, replied, "Today, we're all Republicans," in what was unquestionably a compassionate and dutiful response.

A nurse in the United Kingdom is under fire for having the opposite response after she said on live television that conservative voters do not deserve to be resuscitated by the National Health Service.

Miranda Hughes, a registered nurse with the NHS, made those highly inflammatory and controversial comments during a debate on "Britain on the Brink," hosted by Jeremy Vine. Her remarks drew swift backlash, with many calling for her to be suspended by the NHS or fired from her job.

“I could not handle the emotional stress of not being able to deliver for my patients," she said on the program. "You’re squeezed to a point, you can't treat them how you want to treat them. You’re told persistently on the news that care homes are being ring fenced. It’s a lie.”

"I’m sorry," she continued, "but if you’ve voted Conservative, you do not deserve to be resuscitated by the NHS.”

Her outburst caused members of the live audience to gasp and shake their heads. “It’s harsh, but I’m looking at these gentlemen and it makes me so angry,” she said before backtracking.

"Of course, I would [resuscitate Conservative patients], but it's appalling the way we've been treated," she said.

The sound bite provoked outrage online, where Hughes was condemned for essentially wishing millions of U.K. voters dead.

"How can a nurse who is responsible for the health care of others continue in her job, if she believes 14 million patients should be left to die? The two are wholly incompatible: Miranda Hughes must go," former journalist and member of the European Parliament Martin Daubney tweeted.

"This isn't 'cancel culture.' It's the consequences of being an unbridled bigot," he added.

"This repellant woman #MirandaHughes was an utter disgrace to her profession before rightly sacked by the private hospital where she worked. She should never, ever, be allowed to work again in health or social care," said British media personality Christine Hamilton.

Following the outcry, Hughes told the Telegraph she is set to lose her job with a south London-based private hospital.

"They can do that to me because of their media policy. I am not allowed to say anything. I have brought the company into disrepute. So yes, I am being sacked," she said in an interview.

“The reason I went on the program was that you cannot care for your patients. It’s impossible. Because I care too much. And even Jeremy Vine said to me, 'Working in the NHS broke you.'

“Well, yes it has, and it’s broken me again. I can’t do what’s right, and it frustrates the hell out of me because I’ve been sick myself. I’ve had to watch people die, and there are no resources to help.

"That is the point I was trying to make, and yet I had someone goading me from the other side of the studio and laughing. It made me so angry, and I directed the comment at him,” she said.

"I lost my temper and I said something inappropriate. Now I am going to lose my job because the Twitterati have gone to town," she added. "I am being vilified for being some monster that doesn’t care, and unfortunately, the problem is I care too much."

The Telegraph reported that Huges, a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, could face an investigation over whether her comments breached its professional code if someone files a complaint.

"Our Code is clear that professionals on our register must promote professionalism and trust at all times. Where concerns are raised with us, we'll always look into it and consider taking action if needed," the council said.
