Bizarre bodycam video shows Florida cops arresting Chuck E. Cheese mascot as kids, parents watch in shock

Police bodycam video shows the moment children and parents watched in shock as a Florida man dressed in a Chuck E. Cheese mascot costume was arrested.

The Tallahassee Police Department recently released bodycam video of the eye-opening July 23 arrest.

'Would y’all put Mickey Mouse in handcuffs?'

Police bodycam footage shows officers marching into a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant in Tallahassee.

"We’re gonna detain the mouse," an officer is heard telling a fellow cop on video as they enter the pizza restaurant geared toward kids.

Bodycam footage shows children playing arcade games as officers walk toward an individual dressed from head to toe as the Chuck E. Cheese mouse mascot.

"Chuck E.’s a little bit busy, ma’am," an officer tells a woman.

The officer orders the person in the mouse costume, "Chuck E., come with me. Chuck E! Chuck E! Stop resisting! You’re being detained, stop resisting! Let it go! Do not cause a scene here, sir."

The Chuck E. Cheese mascot is handcuffed and then escorted out of the children's restaurant as parents and kids watch in disbelief.

As one of the officers exits the restaurant, a furious woman scolds the cop for arresting the mouse mascot in front of children at the restaurant.

"I would like y’all to walk him out the door instead of traumatizing all these children seeing someone like Chuck E. Cheese get arrested," the woman is heard saying.

She then asks, "Would y’all put Mickey Mouse in handcuffs?"

Tallahassee Police Department spokesperson Alicia Hill previously told the Tallahassee Democrat that officers had planned to escort the Chuck E. Cheese mascot from the restaurant and handcuff him outside. But police said they became nervous after the suspect resisted.

Hill explained that when officers approached the individual in the Chuck E. Cheese mascot costume, the suspect "immediately tenses up and resists, and so at this point they make the decision to put him in handcuffs" for the safety of the suspect, customers, and officers.

Hill added that it was "unfortunate" that the suspect "happened to be in a suit and in costume."

"The parents were not happy with us detaining Chuck E. Cheese," one officer tells another cop in the clip.

The other cop responds, "Too bad."

After police remove the costume head from the suspect's head, exposing his face, officers attempt to search the handcuffed man for weapons. However, the suspect is still wearing the rest of the mouse costume, which makes it difficult to detect if the suspect has any weapons on him.

“I’m working, you know, I’m just doing my job," the suspect tells cops. "What the f**k is this about?”

Police arrested 41-year-old Jermel Jones for allegedly purchasing items with someone else's credit card.

Citing the probable cause affidavit, Fox News reported that a woman informed police that her debit card went missing June 28 and that she last recalled seeing her debit card at the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant for her child's birthday party.

WKMG-TV reported that the woman said her debit card was used at a smoke shop, a grocery store, and a Whataburger fast-food restaurant without her knowledge or consent.

Police said officers found the stolen credit card in the suspect's left front pocket. Jones reportedly told officers that he "never used" the debit card and denied any wrongdoing,

"Jones was also in possession of a small amount of marijuana," the affidavit stated, according to Fox News. Jones allegedly told a police officer that he was "on the way" to getting a medical marijuana license.

According to WPEC-TV, Jones was charged with theft of a credit card, criminal use of personal identification information, and fraudulent use of a credit card totaling over $100.

Jones was released the next day on a $1,000 bond.

A Chuck E. Cheese spokesperson told People magazine, "We have taken the appropriate action concerning the subject employee."

Huge ICE sweep busts 100+ illegal aliens at Florida worksites

President Donald Trump's administration, supercharged by Florida's strong partnership, achieved a significant victory on Thursday in the nation's ongoing effort to address former President Joe Biden's illegal immigration crisis.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement nabbed over 100 illegal aliens from construction worksites in Tallahassee, according to an agency press release.

'State law enforcement making a huge impact on immigration enforcement efforts.'

The operation involved several federal and state agencies, including the Florida Highway Patrol, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service. It also included ICE's Homeland Security Investigations and Enforcement and Removal Operations.

One suspect was accused of resisting arrest, and another allegedly pulled a weapon on officers during the intense raids, ICE stated.

A social media bulletin from HSI Tampa noted that some of the individuals who were detained had previously been deported or had criminal histories. Among those arrested were foreign nationals from Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Colombia, and Honduras.

While the federal agency did not specify where the worksite raids occurred, HSI Tampa stated that one of the locations was a "major construction site."

Nicholas Ingegno, the assistant special agent in charge at HSI Tallahassee, stated, "These types of enforcement actions aim to eliminate illegal employment, holding employers accountable and protecting employment opportunities for America's lawful workforce."

"HSI Tallahassee, working alongside our state, local, and federal partners, will continue protecting public safety by enforcing the immigration laws of our nation," Ingegno said.

Florida's partnership set a model for Republican-led states to boost federal immigration enforcement efforts.

Governor Ron DeSantis (R), who has pledged to support the Trump administration's deportation efforts, called the operation a "major bust."

"State law enforcement making a huge impact on immigration enforcement efforts," he wrote in a post on social media.

In a separate post, he added that the federal government is "pursuing the subcontractor responsible for hiring the illegal alien workers."

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles announced its support for the recent ICE operation.

"Florida leads the way," it stated. "We will not tolerate illegal immigration."

The recent operation delivered on border czar Tom Homan's December promise that the Trump administration would significantly increase ICE's worksite raids to clamp down on illegal immigration.

"We haven't really worked out the plan for worksite enforcement," he said at the time, adding, "We know that employers are going to be upset."

On Thursday, border czar Homan told "Face the Nation" that ICE will arrest illegal aliens in the community and at worksites, particularly when federal immigration authorities are blocked from accessing local jails.

When reached for comment, DeSantis' office referred Blaze News to the governor's posts on social media.

Vicious fight between 17-year-old female student, female teacher leads to student's arrest; teacher placed on leave

A 17-year-old female high school student was arrested and a female high school teacher was placed on leave after the pair engaged in a vicious fight this week in a Tallahassee, Florida, school cafeteria that was recorded on cellphone video.

The Leon County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of the student from Lincoln High School, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.

The teen also faces student discipline up to expulsion as part of the district's student code of conduct, the paper reported.

You can view cellphone video of the fight here.

The paper said several students recorded portions of the fight, which commenced around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday during lunchtime. Concerned parents also shared video of the fight on social media, the paper added.

Leon County School District officials told the paper the fight began after a student attacked a hall monitor and took her phone.

The video of the fight shows a large crowd of students in the cafeteria surrounding a woman and a student wrestling on the ground, the paper said, adding that the woman appears to kick the student off her. Several students manage to break up the fight, pulling the pair apart, the paper said, but as the student walks away, the woman searches for the student, finds her, and re-engages in the fight, pulling the student's hair while the student punches the woman. School officials confirmed to the paper that the video shows the end of the fight.

The student was arrested and taken to the Leon Juvenile Detention Center, the paper said, adding that she was charged with attempted robbery by sudden snatching and battery of a school official, both of which are felonies.

"We are still reviewing the video, and it is still very much an open investigation," LCSO communications director Shonda Knight added to the paper.

The teen also faces student discipline up to expulsion as part of the district's student code of conduct, the paper reported.

The school staff member is on leave pending the outcome of the investigation, the paper said.

Assistant Principal Jennifer Tibbitts emailed parents through the school system's FOCUS portal at 1:50 p.m. Thursday to inform them of the fight, the paper noted.

"Today at lunch there was an incident involving a student and staff member. Other school staff and our school resource officers responded immediately. This incident is being investigated by Leon County Sheriff's office and will be handled accordingly," the message said, according to the paper.

Leon County Sheriff Walt McNeil, Schools Superintendent Rocky Hanna, and school board members had announced Wednesday — prior to the fight — a tour of district high schools to discuss safety and security concerns with students, the paper said, adding that a visit to Lincoln High was scheduled for Friday. The status of that visit in light of the fight was not clear.
