Wisconsin teachers resign after asking student on Snapchat to participate in foursome, according to high school report

Two female teachers resigned after a Janesville School District probe found that they had sent sexually explicit messages and photos to at least one student of a high school in Wisconsin.

Joseph Craig High School officials were tipped off to the inappropriate conduct after a teacher saw photos of Alexsia Saldaris, her colleague, in lingerie on a cellphone of one of the students on April 11. The teacher reported it to officials, and they opened an investigation into the teacher.

'... involving cuddling, flirting, and the implication of alcohol.'

The probe found that Saldaris and another business education teacher, Jennifer Larson, had sent messages via Snapchat to one student while they were all on a field trip between April 7 and April 9. The messages included suggestions of "cuddling" and including another student in their "fun," according to WMTV-TV.

Saldaris also allegedly allowed the student to "take a lap" with the district van in a parking lot and kissed the student in the van while she was taking off her shoes.

The report said that Saldaris then sent the student five images of herself in lingerie and other undergarments on April 9. Other messages indicated that they planned to meet on the weekend.

Saldaris admitted to sending the images while Larson admitted to sending messages “involving cuddling, flirting, and the implication of alcohol," according to the report.

At one point, Saldaris had reportedly sent a message telling the student that their relationship had to end, and he agreed.

Both teachers were placed on administrative leave on April 12, and the district accepted their resignations on April 22.

Saldaris had only been a teacher for one year while Larson was an 11-year veteran. Larson was also the school advisor for the Wisconsin DECA, a group focused on fostering leadership skills in young people.

WMTV said that the school had concluded its investigation and the Janesville Police were considering filing criminal charges over the incidents.

Janesville is a city of about 65k residents on the southern border of Wisconsin.

Florida teacher arrested for alleged classroom sex with student, making him jealous by saying she had sex with other students

A teacher in Florida has been arrested after being accused of having sex with a student in a classroom and in her car in the parking lot of his grandmother's apartment complex.

Lauren King, 32, was arrested on March 7 after the Fort Myers Police Department received a tip that she was engaged in a sexual relationship with a student. King was charged with two counts of lewd or lascivious battery.

King previously worked at Royal Palm Exceptional Center in Fort Myers, Florida. The school educates about 150 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

According to Lee County Clerk of Courts documents, King contacted a 12-year-old student outside of school over the course of several months.

Since Jan. 28, the two sent each other roughly 4,000 text messages. The messages included nude selfies and videos of sex acts performed on herself, police wrote in the affidavit.

King allegedly invited the minor to meet her in the parking lot of his grandmother's apartment complex.

According to The National Desk, "'[The victim] met King and entered her vehicle. She then began to.....,' and the document describes her 'providing oral sex to him,' and in the back seat, 'they then have sexual intercourse.'"

King allegedly showered the boy with gifts, including a hoodie, Beats headphones, an iPhone 13, and a Dell computer. In exchange, she told the victim "not to tell anyone what happened," according to court documents.

WBBH-TV reported, "She allegedly sent him $50 on CashApp after he left, along with an additional $150, under the guise of it being a birthday gift."

King and the student also had sex in a classroom, records show.

The boy reportedly wanted to pause the relationship with the teacher because "he felt as though he had done something wrong and was uncomfortable through the whole ordeal," docs state.

After the minor stopped texting King, she reportedly told him that "she loved him."

Court documents said, "King then attempted to get [the victim] jealous and told him that she was doing other sexual activities with other students."

The teacher sex scandal came to light when the boy's mentor probed into why his phone was ringing so often.

The mentor allegedly took the minor to church and then to Waffle House.

After seeing multiple incoming phone calls, the mentor asked the boy who was repeatedly calling him.

The boy allegedly replied, "My teacher."

The boy reportedly confessed to the mentor that he had sex with his teacher.

According to court documents, the mentor answered the boy's phone and told King: "Leave him alone. I've found out everything that you do."

King allegedly confessed to having sex with the minor to the mentor and promised that "she would quit and leave the area" within a week.

The boy's mother spoke with her son, who told her that he had sexual intercourse with his teacher and then "began to get emotionally distraught."

The Lee County School District said it does "not tolerate this kind of behavior," and King was "immediately removed from the school" after the allegations were revealed.

An attorney for the victim's family stated: "This predator targeted our client, and it was only due to his vigilant parents that she was stopped. The school district bears responsibility for allowing such a dangerous individual near our children... and must own up to its critical failure in safeguarding our students."

King's bond was set at $350,000.

Alabama substitute teacher accused of sex with student, sheriff: 'Our children have every right to feel safe at school'

In the latest alleged teacher sex scandal, an educator in Alabama is accused of engaging in a sex act with a student, according to police.

Stephanie Mechelle Woods, 45, was arrested by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office on Friday. Woods, of Henagar, was booked into the DeKalb County Detention Center at 4:20 p.m. on Friday and charged with a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student under 19, according to law enforcement.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office said in a news release that it had received a complaint about a "substitute teacher possibly having inappropriate relations with a student."

As of Saturday, details were scant about the alleged child sex crimes that Woods is accused of.

Law enforcement did not provide any details of the alleged sexual assault. The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office did not identify which school Woods was employed at.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the investigation into the alleged child sex crimes, "I would like to thank our Investigations Unit and the Board of Education for their earnestness in getting this case taken care of."

"Our children have every right to feel safe at school, and parents have every right to expect it," Welden continued. "Our children are our number 1 priority and we will protect them at all cost."

There isn't much data on the extent of sexual abuse of minors by school personnel.

A 2014 report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) read, "The prevalence of sexual abuse by school personnel remains unknown, in part, because some cases go unreported. Further, the term sexual abuse may not capture the full spectrum of the issue."

The report warned how grooming makes outing predatory teachers difficult.

"While child sexual abuse typically refers to the criminal act of forcing a child to engage in sexual activity with the perpetrator, other inappropriate behaviors with children may eventually lead to sexual abuse," the GAO report said. "For example, while not generally criminal, behaviors often referred to as ‘grooming’ may be carried out by the perpetrator with the aim of establishing trust to facilitate future sexual activity with the child."

A U.S. Department of Education report published in 2004 found that 18% of K-12 students claimed they experienced sexual misconduct by a teacher at some point in their schooling.

The Office of Justice Programs’ National Criminal Justice Reference Service reported that there were "459 cases of school employee sexual misconduct ... that attracted media coverage in 2014," based on data from the Stop Educator Sexual Abuse Misconduct & Exploitation organization.

There were also 96 cases that did not involve a student, but were carried out on a minor.

The report showed that 7% of eighth through eleventh-grade students claimed to have experienced physical sexual contact from a school staff member. There were 10% of students who claimed they were exposed to sexual misconduct – such as being shown pornography or being subjected to sexually explicit language or exhibitionism.

'Teacher of the year' accused of sex with 14-year-old former student

A Georgia teacher is under investigation over allegations that he had sex with a 14-year-old former student. Before the accusations of child sex abuse, the middle school educator had been awarded this year's "teacher of the year" award.

On Thursday, police arrested Charles B. Jackson – a 54-year-old teacher at the Ballard-Hudson Middle School in Macon, Georgia. Jackson was charged with two counts of statutory rape and one count of aggravated child molestation, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

Jackson was transported to the Bibb County jail, where he is being held without bond. A magistrate judge ordered him to not have any contact with the alleged victim and the family of the victim, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

Deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children subdivision opened an investigation into Jackson after reports that the middle school teacher was engaging in an "inappropriate relationship" with a former student. There were allegations that Jackson had sex with a 14-year-old ex-student.

Jackson was a teacher and a baseball coach at the Ballard-Hudson Middle School – where he was named the "teacher of the year."

On Thursday, the Bibb County school district announced that it had fired Jackson. School officials informed parents that it is cooperating with the investigation, and for anyone to report any concerns regarding their own children.

The investigation is still ongoing. Law enforcement is asking anyone with information on the potential sex crime case to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or call the Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.

North Carolina teacher accused of raping student now faces 27 more charges after same student met with her 9 times while she was on house arrest: Police

A North Carolina teacher who was on house arrest for accusations she sexually abused a student now faces even more charges after the same student was at her home nine times, according to police.

On July 20, police launched an investigation after receiving a tip that a science teacher at the Northview Academy in Statesville was having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

On Aug. 1, Elizabeth Suzanne Bailey was arrested by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office for having an alleged relationship with a student. WBTV reported that the 36-year-old teacher was charged with felony statutory rape of a person who is 15 years of age or younger, felony indecent liberties with a minor, and felony sexual activity with a student.

The Iredell-Statesville School District reportedly suspended Bailey with pay after learning of the allegations.

Bailey, of Statesville, was released on a $75,000 bond, placed on house arrest, and fitted with an electronic monitoring device.

The Iredell County Sheriff's Office noted in a statement, "Part of her original bond release conditions was she stay away from the juvenile victim in this case."

On Sept. 2, Bailey was arrested by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office Warrant Squad and booked at the Iredell County Detention Center.

Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said the juvenile visited Bailey's home on nine different occasions since her original arrest when she was out on bail and on house arrest.

In the latest accusations in her teacher sex abuse scandal, Bailey now faces an additional 27 charges. The teacher was charged with nine counts of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor, nine counts of felony intimidating or interfering with a state witness, and nine counts of felony violation of pretrial release conditions.

Bailey is now being held on $800,000 bond.

Campbell said the investigation is ongoing by investigators with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit, and that Bailey may face additional charges in the future for alleged child sex abuse.

People magazine reported, "Bailey began working for the Iredell-Statesville School District in 2010, when she was hired as an assistant."
