Teen fatally shot by group in ski masks during bloody NYC weekend

A teenager was shot and killed by assailants wearing ski masks in what was the latest episode of violent crime and shootings that took place in New York City over the weekend.

NYPD responders found 17-year-old Jordany Mercedes bleeding out near his home on Beekman Avenue Sunday evening, authorities said. He had been shot in the chest and the bullet punctured his lung, killing him, WNBC-TV reported.

Neighbors said they heard at least two gunshots at around 6 p.m., but few eyewitnesses came forward to speak with the police.

“I was sitting down there when I heard the shots. I didn’t move cause I didn’t wanna get hurt - bullets don’t have no name. And then I just heard somebody screaming and yellin and everybody ran down the block," Celia Albergotti said, according to WNBC.

Detectives have not identified a motive in the shooting but said it appeared the teenager had gotten into an argument with at least one other individual.

Video evidence reviewed by police reportedly shows a group of unidentified males gathered by an electrical box when Mercedes approaches from across the street. A senior official told WNBC the video shows one member of the group walked over and spoke to Mercedes. They appeared to get into an argument, and then the victim falls to the ground.

The teenage victim was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital 30 minutes later, WNBC reported.

The senior official said all five members of the group in the video fled on foot north towards Oak Terrace. They appeared to be wearing ski masks and have not yet been identified.

Police recovered two shell casings at the scene of the crime, but the murder weapon has not been found and no one has been arrested.

WNBC said Mercedes' murder capped a bloody weekend in the city where the NYPD reported at least nine victims of gun violence between Brooklyn and the Bronx since late Saturday night.

One man is dead and two others were hospitalized overnight after three other shootings in the Bronx, WNBC reported.

A 45-year-old man died after he was shot in the head around 12 a.m. in the Hunts Point section of the borough. Police identified him as Jose Alvarado of the Bronx.

Another victim is fighting for his life after he was shot in the head while sitting in a tow truck in the Mott Haven neighborhood.

A fourth victim, 20, was shot in the leg overnight in the Fordham Manor section, according to police.

These headline-making shootings come as Mayor Eric Adams has faced criticism for his handling of crime in the city.

While murder in New York City is down 13% from last year and shooting incidents have also declined, the NYPD index of major crimes shows a 34% increase over 2021 fueled by grand larcenies, car thefts, and robberies. There has also been more than a 60% increase in reported rapes between fiscal year 2021 and fiscal year 2022, according to city data.

CROWDER has several problems with Liberal MAGA murderer's release on bail

A North Dakota man charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident that killed a Republican teen says he doesn't want his life or job jeopardized.

Shannon Brandt, 41, reported himself to police after chasing and mowing down 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson and was released on $50,000 bail. Brandt told police that he has "a job, a life, a house, and things that I don't exactly want to see go by the wayside....family that are very important to me."

Steven Crowder had several problems with Brandt's release. "That shouldn't happen," Crowder said. "When you dehumanize people, it is okay to treat them inhumanely."

Brandt did not understand why he had to post bail for his crime. This infuriates Crowder because he believes this is a manifestation of an entitled mentality.

Crowder said he wants to see Brandt jobless, homeless, and penniless and stressed his belief that Brandt is an "entitled little pr*ck,"

About Brandt's Charges

In North Dakota, criminal vehicular homicide is defined as "causing the death of another person while driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in violation of North Dakota's DUI laws. A person with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08% or more or impaired by drugs or alcohol to the degree that renders the person incapable of safely driving is considered "under the influence."

Brandt's Call to Police

According to reports, “Brandt stated that the pedestrian called some people and Brandt was afraid they were coming to get him,” the document continues. “Brandt admitted to State Radio that he hit the pedestrian and that the pedestrian was part of a Republican extremist group.”

NEW LEFTIST TREND: Murdering Republican TEENS?!

Did you hear the one about the leftist who murdered a "Republican extremist" with his car? After Joe Biden declared war on MAGA Republicans? I’m guessing not, but you will after today’s show. Also, Rashida Tlaib wants a ban on fossil fuels and got shut down by someone who isn’t a moron. And why exactly is military recruiting down?

Philadelphia 15-year-old killed by stray bullets while retrieving case of water from his dad's car

A family in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is mourning the tragic death of a 15-year-old boy who was killed by stray gunfire outside of his own home last week.

Sean Toomey quickly ran outside of the house to retrieve a case of water bottles from his dad's car on Thursday, but he never made it back. Police said Toomey was caught in the crossfire of an attempted carjacking taking place across the street.

As the boy was heading back home with the water in hand, at least two suspects were pulling on a woman's car door while she drove into her apartment complex. The woman reportedly called her boyfriend for help and when he came outside, gunfire erupted.

Toomey was struck twice by the gunfire, once in the head and once in the side. He was immediately taken to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries Friday afternoon.

The incident occurred in the Wissinoming neighborhood in northeast Philadelphia.

The boy's father, John Toomey, was inconsolable as he recounted the tragedy to reporters last week.

"I heard the two pops and I thought it was firecrackers," Toomey said during an interview. "But it only takes a second to grab some water and get in the house and he wasn't coming back in. So I got curious, I put my sweatshirt on, and I went outside and I saw him lying on my neighbor's lawn."

That's when he saw his son covered in blood; the case of water thrown on the ground next to him.

"There was blood on his head. I thought maybe he’d fallen on the fence or something when I first saw it. I wasn’t adding it up. No one gets shot around here," Toomey continued.

"Can’t describe it," he added. "It’s not something I want anyone, anyone to experience. I was just in the hospital. The doctor said he’s brain dead. Every time I turned away from him and saw him again I’d break down, over and over. He’s only 15! You know, the kid is in the house most of the time playing with his computer and his phone. He went out to get some water."

As of Monday afternoon, an investigation into the incident is ongoing and police have yet to make any arrests. The suspects reportedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Toomey's death comes as Philadelphia continues to grapple with a scourge of violent crime. Homicides in the city totaled 562 last year, by far the largest number ever recorded. This year, the city is on pace to beat that figure.
