'We are hurting': Texas police officer — a husband and father of 3 — gunned down in 'ambush'

A Texas police officer — a husband and father of three — was fatally shot in the line of duty in an "ambush" Monday.

The Greenville Police Department stated in a press release that Officer Cooper Dawson initiated a traffic stop around 7:40 p.m. Greenville is about 75 minutes northeast of Dallas.

'We are heartbroken over the loss of Officer Cooper Dawson, who selflessly put his life on the line to serve and protect our community.'

The suspect reportedly fled the traffic stop, and Dawson allegedly pursued the suspect on foot.

Police noted that Dawson, 27, was "ambushed and shot multiple times" while pursuing the suspect.

Despite suffering critical injuries, Dawson reportedly "displayed exceptional courage, returning fire, and striking the suspect."

Following the shooting, both Dawson and the suspect were rushed to Hunt County Regional Hospital.

Dawson's condition was so severe that authorities had to airlift him to Medical City Plano where he later died.

Dawson's death reportedly was the first in the line of duty within the Greenville Police Department in more than 100 years.

The Dallas Morning News identified the alleged cop-killer as 25-year-old Christian Robert Sparger.

Citing Denton County court records, the Morning News said Sparger pleaded guilty last year to charges of aggravated assault and continuous violence in a separate case.

The paper also said Sparger was arrested in 2017 and 2018 for marijuana possession, public intoxication, and failure to identify as a fugitive with intent to provide false information.

"Officer Dawson was a highly respected member of the Greenville Police Department and had previously served with the Garland Police Department," Greenville Police stated. "His dedication to public service and his unwavering commitment to protecting the Greenville community will never be forgotten."

Before leaving the Garland Police Department in 2023, Dawson purportedly earned 10 certificates of merit, a dozen commendations, and two bars for saving a life.

Greenville Police Chief Chris Smith declared, "We are heartbroken over the loss of Officer Cooper Dawson, who selflessly put his life on the line to serve and protect our community. We ask that you keep Officer Dawson’s family, our department, and the Greenville community in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time."

According to KXAS-TV, Smith added, "We are hurting. We are hurting as a department. We are hurting as a community. Today, we honor him as a hero, a husband, a father, and a friend. The grief we feel is indescribable."

Smith also said, "We lost a good man today. He was an excellent officer. Today, we honor him as a hero, a husband, a father, and a friend. The grief we feel is indescribable."

Greenville Police displayed a squad car in front of its department in memory of Dawson.

At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Greenville Police featured a procession of Dawson's remains through the city streets as a tribute to him.

Dawson also served with the U.S. Army National Guard.

Details regarding memorial services for Dawson's family will be announced in the coming days, police said.

Wild video shows alleged drunk driver with drink in hand leading cops on chase through busy parking lot, crashing into cars

A video of an alleged drunk driver leading cops on a chase through a busy parking lot in Texas has gone viral. Video shows the woman holding a drink as she evades police and crashes into other cars. In the end, the woman is smiling and making jokes as she's arrested.

Around 2 p.m. Thursday, Audrey Marie Schneider recklessly drove around the parking lot of a shopping center in San Antonio. The nearly five-minute video shows the 37-year-old leading police on a chase while driving her white Toyota SUV.

'Oh no. I’m about to see something traumatic happen in front of me.'

According to authorities, the police chase began in Comal County, continued on a highway, and concluded in the shopping plaza in Bexar County. WOAI-TV reported that a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper attempted to pull Schneider over on Interstate 35 in Comal County. However, Schneider allegedly sped away from the trooper.

During the pursuit by multiple police cruisers, Schneider made several laps around a shopping center parking lot, which put pedestrians at risk.

The viral video captured by freelance photographer Alec Dyer shows Schneider driving erratically in the parking lot and crashing into other vehicles, including police cruisers.

Dyer told KSAT, "It felt really surreal. I couldn’t even believe it."

"Just witnessing that, I was, like, mentally preparing, ‘Oh no. I’m about to see something traumatic happen in front of me,‘“ Dyer added. “The whole time I’m thinking, ‘Oh no! At this rate, she’s gonna kill somebody. She’s gonna hurt somebody.‘”

Video shows Schneider holding up a drink during the police chase in the parking lot.

Eventually, police corner Schneider's SUV. However, Schneider is seen attempting to evade police by fleeing into a business in the plaza.

Soon police are seen escorting Schneider out of a store in handcuffs. Schneider's clothes appear to be drenched in liquid, and she has dark marks on both sides of her face.

No injuries were reported.

A smiling Schneider says, "I'm so sorry."

A bystander is on video asking police: "Hey, she threw a can of beer on me, can I press charges?"

Schneider is seen on video responding, "Yes, please do. I double-dog dare you."

Schneider is heard telling the onlookers: "I'm back, bitches."

While being pinned to the hood of a police cruiser, she also said, "Santa is coming."

The San Antonio Express-News reported that emergency medical services checked Schneider before she was taken to Bexar County Jail.

In her mugshot, Schneider flashes a smile.

Schneider was charged with driving while intoxicated with an open alcohol container, assaulting a peace officer, evading arrest in a vehicle, as well as two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.

According to KSAT, this wasn't Schneider’s first incident involving driving and alcohol.

In 2017, Schneider faced a charge of obstruction of a highway while intoxicated, the station reported.

Records show the charge was dismissed after she was granted deferred adjudication.

Twisted Texas love triangle: Couple allegedly plot ambush, kidnapping, murder of wife's alleged former lover — over dishonor

A Texas husband and wife allegedly attempted an ambush, kidnapping, and murder of the wife's alleged former lover over the weekend.

The victim — who did not want to be named due to fears for his life — allegedly had been having an affair with 35-year-old Hana Ahmad Alolaimi. Both the victim and Alolaimi reportedly were married to other people.

The victim said the angry husband told him he had to die because he had dishonored his wife.

Citing court records, KRIV-TV reported that the two would meet at a Chick-fil-A in West Houston and then would drive behind a nearby Target to be alone.

While court documents say the victim broke off the adulterous relationship three months ago after his wife found out, the victim and Alolaimi allegedly met Saturday in the parking lot at the same Chick-fil-A from their past meetings.

According to court documents, Alolaimi parked her vehicle and gestured to the victim to enter her vehicle.

When Alolaimi started to drive away, the victim — a 36-year-old DoorDash delivery driver — reportedly told her that he had to make a delivery and could not leave. She allegedly continued to drive from the Chick-fil-A.

The victim was unaware that 48-year-old Omar Mahmoud Bishtawi — the husband of Alolaimi — reportedly was hiding in the back seat of the vehicle.

"Your husband jumped out from under a curtain that was in the back seat of the vehicle, put the complaining witness in a chokehold, then pressed a firearm against the complaining witness' head," the prosecutor told Alolaimi at her hearing, according to KHOU.

The victim said the angry husband told him he had to die because he had dishonored his wife.

"With his left hand, he grabs me like this and says: 'You made fun of her,'" the victim told KHOU.

"I pulled the door handle, and thank God it opened in a matter of seconds," the victim said.

The prosecutor added, "The complaining witness tried to get away, and your husband shot the complaining witness two times."

The victim managed to get away, call for help, and then he was rushed to a hospital.

Court documents note that the victim was shot in the thigh and right foot, and he could have died from the shooting if he had not been taken to the hospital in time.

The victim told KHOU he still can't feel anything below one knee.

The suspects reportedly drove away but later surrendered to the Houston police who said Alolaimi and Bishtawi provided investigators with conflicting statements about the nearly fatal incident.

Bishtawi and Alolaimi are both charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated assault.

Bishtawi's bond was set at $200,000 while Alolaimi's was set at $150,000.

Bishtawi and Alolaimi have three children ages 13, 10, and 7, according to court documents.

Middle school teacher accused of sexually abusing former student

A Texas teacher has been arrested after allegedly having a sexual relationship with an underage boy over the summer.

Angela Dawn Barnes, 45, was arrested without incident Monday and booked into Keller Regional Jail.

The school district said it is cooperating with police and Child Protective Services in the investigation.

Barnes was charged with sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between an educator and student.

Barnes is a teacher at Carroll Middle School in Southlake, which is about 25 miles northwest of Dallas.

The Keller Police Department said it received a tip in September that Barnes was "having an inappropriate relationship with an underage boy who was a former student."

The Keller Police Department said in a statement, "Detectives began investigating the case immediately and discovered that Barnes was engaged in a sexual relationship with an underage boy throughout the months of June and July 2024 and that the relationship had since ended."

Investigators said there was no evidence that there were any additional victims.

Authorities did not indicate the age of the alleged victim. Carroll Middle School consists of grades 7 and 8; middle school students in those grades are typically between the ages of 12 and 14.

WFAA reported that Carroll Independent School District officials said the teacher was placed on administrative leave after police notified them about the accusations. The school district said it is cooperating with police and Child Protective Services in the investigation.

"Carroll ISD immediately placed this staff member on administrative leave and reported to the proper authorities," Carroll Independent School District said in a statement. "The district was made aware the alleged offense took place off-campus over the summer within the jurisdiction of the Keller Police Department."

The statement added that "based on the information we have received, no incidents occurred on CISD campuses. The CISD is working in collaboration with Keller Police and Child Protective Services as they investigate the allegations."

The district's statement also said "the safety and security of all students is always our top priority and any allegations of adult misconduct are addressed promptly and reported immediately to the proper authorities."

Barnes was not listed Tuesday on the staff directory of the middle school's website.

The Keller Police Department urged anyone with information in this case to contact Detective William Brockmoller at wbrockmoller@cityofkeller.com.

Mother notices son is sweaty — then she makes grisly discovery on her property that makes her cry out, 'What have you done?'

Authorities caught a registered sex offender from Texas on Saturday after an intense and massive manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies. As it turns out, the suspect's parents tipped off authorities after his mother made a horrifying discovery on her property.

The mother told deputies with the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office that she walked out of her home and noticed her son standing looking “very sweaty,” as reported by KWTX-TV.

'This guy who we believe committed this horrible and brutal murder was sentenced to 40 years. He served approximately 10 years, was paroled out, and then committed this horrible crime. He never should have gotten out, but he did.'

The woman said she attempted to walk around her son — 36-year-old Richard Tanner Ozment — but he stood in her way. The mother claimed she had to push him out of her way.

But that was far from the worst of it.

The affidavit states that the woman spotted a human foot behind a recreational vehicle on her property in China Springs. As the mother walked to the area behind the RV, she reportedly discovered a severely wounded woman.

According to court documents, the mother asked Ozment, “What have you done?”

He reportedly replied, “She tried to stab me.”

The mother frantically ran inside her home, and Ozment’s father called 911.

China Spring firefighters were the first to arrive at the grisly crime scene and noticed a man running away from the home.

First responders treated 38-year-old Michaela Brooker, who was suffering from “extensive injuries, mainly, to her head,” according to the affidavit. Brooker was airlifted to a hospital where she was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.

McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said Ozment used a machete-like weapon to kill Brooker.

By the time police arrived, Ozment had fled the crime scene.

Law enforcement assembled a major manhunt to track down Ozment, which included the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office’s SWAT Team, the Waco Police Department’s K9 unit and drone support, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Texas Game Wardens, and Texas Department of Criminal Justice Tracking K9.

Roughly 10 hours later, deputies riding on horseback and accompanied by K9s tracked down Ozment. He reportedly was hiding in a stock tank about a football field away from the bloody crime scene.

McNamara said he believed Brooker’s murder arose from a “domestic disturbance” but did not reveal the exact relationship between the victim and Ozment.

Ozment was charged with murder and is being held at the McLennan County Jail on a $1 million bond.

“This is one of the most horrific, brutal, and senseless attacks that we have seen in a long time,” McNamara said, “It never should have happened. This guy who we believe committed this horrible and brutal murder was sentenced to 40 years. He served approximately 10 years, was paroled out, and then committed this horrible crime. He never should have gotten out, but he did.”

A Waco Tribune-Herald article published in March 2015 reported that Ozment, then 26 years old, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to burglarizing five area churches and two homes.

The outlet noted, "The charges against Ozment were enhanced to first-degree felonies because of a juvenile adjudication for aggravated sexual assault in 2004 and a felony terroristic threat conviction in 2007."

In 2013, Ozment was arrested after complaints that he was taking pictures outside China Spring Elementary School. While in custody, authorities discovered Ozment was not in compliance with sex offender registration requirements.

High-tech hero: Video shows police bomb squad robot outsmart, pin down hotel gunman in Texas showdown

There's a new RoboCop in town. A police bomb squad robot singlehandedly incapacitated and pinned down an armed suspect in a Texas showdown.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice said there was a warrant out for the arrest of 39-year-old Felix Delarosa because he violated his parole by tampering with his electronic monitoring device, KCBD reported.

The robot approached the broken window, and the suspect shot his gun at the robot. The bomb squad robot countered by spraying tear gas into the room.

Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, Texas Anti-Gang unit members tracked down Delarosa at a Days Inn hotel in Lubbock. Delarosa — who was armed at the time — reportedly fired a shot at officers from inside his room when they went to approach him.

The officers called the Lubbock County Sheriff’s SWAT team to assist with apprehending the suspect.

Officials said Delarosa fired another shot while SWAT negotiators attempted to convince him to peacefully surrender. During the negotiations, Delarosa — who was barricaded in his hotel room — allegedly fired more shots at officers.

A sheriff’s office sniper returned fire and allegedly struck Delarosa.

By this time in the standoff, the room's large glass window had been shattered amid the exchange of gunfire.

Robot to the rescue

The Lubbock Regional Bomb Squad deployed a robot to deal with the suspect without putting the lives of law enforcement in jeopardy. The bomb squad robot rolled up to Delarosa's hotel room. The suspect first attempted to debilitate the robot by throwing a bed sheet on it, which was not effective.

The robot approached the broken window, and the suspect shot his gun at the robot. The bomb squad robot countered by spraying tear gas into the room.

The suspect is seen on video desperately crawling out of the room and appears to be extremely disoriented from the tear gas.

While Delarosa was wriggling on the ground, the robot drove on top of him.

Then, while pinning him to the ground, the wheels of the robot pulled down the suspect's pants.

SWAT team members swooped in to take Delarosa into custody two hours after the showdown began.

Delarosa was transported to University Medical Center for his injuries and then booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center.

Delarosa was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant.

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice noted that Delarosa was sentenced to 20 years in prison for manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance in 2017.

Delarosa was released from prison and placed on parole in April 2022.

Suspect in 'execution-style' murder of woman, 21, caught after tipster recognizes him from 'sugar daddy' website: Court docs

A Texas man is accused of committing an "execution-style" murder of a 21-year-old nursing student in her apartment last month. A tipster told Houston police she knew the murder suspect from a "sugar daddy" website in 2012 and "instantly" recognized him, according to court documents.

After receiving an anonymous tip, police found the body of Muna Pandey — who had attended Houston Community College — in her Houston apartment August 26, according to prosecutors. Paramedics pronounced Pandey dead at the crime scene, according to a press release from the Houston Police Department. Pandey was from Nepal.

When police arrested Shah several days after Pandey's death, the suspect was still wearing the same blood-stained clothing seen on surveillance video when leaving the victim's apartment.

Investigators said Muna was shot three times in the torso and once “execution style" in the back of the head, according to court documents.

On August 28, the Houston Police Department shared a surveillance camera image of the murder suspect and requested the public's help in identifying the male.

Citing the criminal complaint, People magazine reported that a tipster informed Houston Police that she knew the murder suspect from a "sugar daddy" website in 2012 and "instantly" recognized him.

Houston Police said they arrested 51-year-old Bobby Singh Shah during a traffic stop on the night of August 28.

Shah was charged with capital murder and booked into the Harris County Jail.

According to the criminal complaint, a neighbor told investigators he heard "loud thumping" noises from Pandey's apartment on August 24.

Prosecutors highlighted that when police arrested Shah several days after Pandey's death, the suspect was still wearing the same blood-stained clothing seen on surveillance video when leaving the victim's apartment.

Officers also discovered a gun in Shah's car, according to prosecutors.

Citing court documents, KHOU said Pandey's friend told investigators she previously had been stalked, and he helped her install a motion-activated camera above the entrance to her apartment. Video from that camera reportedly shows Shah holding Pandey at gunpoint while she was holding a shoe box, a shopping bag, a black jacket, and a purse. He reportedly is seen on video pushing her inside and leaving an hour later while holding Pandey's purse. Authorities believe Shah killed her just before leaving, KHOU said.

Investigators did not make it clear whether Shah and Pandey had a pre-existing relationship.

Prosecutor Rebecca Marshall said, “I can only imagine what Muna’s mother is going through being halfway across the world, so I wanted them to know what would happen in court, what they could expect."

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to financially assist Pandey's mother, Anita, to fly from Nepal to Houston to "say goodbye to her only child and give Muna the farewell she deserves."

At the time of publication, the crowdfunding campaign had raised more than $36,000.

Shah is being held without bond, according to online court records of the Harris County District Clerk's Office.

Dallas communities on edge after 2 apparent child abduction attempts caught on video in broad daylight on same day

Parents in the Dallas area are on edge after two apparent child abduction attempts were caught on video the same day this week.

The apparent child abduction attempts both happened Monday within hours and miles of each other, but law enforcement said it doesn't see any evidence the alleged kidnapping attempts are related.

'Either incident could have resulted in tragedy.'

The first abduction attempt happened around 8:20 a.m. in the suburb of Richardson.

A freshman girl was walking to the J.J. Pearce High School campus when she noticed a motorist following her.

The frightened girl rang the doorbell of a home in the area.

Shane Burke answered the door and let the teen into his house.

Burke told KXAS-TV, "She initially hid behind our car to see if he was coming back and sure enough, here he came really slow, and again, she was really smart. She did all the right things. When I opened the door, she started explaining that someone has been following her. She was really shaky.”

He added, "I don’t think he was saying anything [to the child]. She said, 'He keeps going by real slow back and forth on the street and staring at me, and I’m not comfortable.'"

"I don’t know what this guy’s motive was or what he was up to, but she said she didn’t know him; he wasn’t an ex-boyfriend, or a family member, or anything, so whatever," Burke said. "This is serious. This was a close call. Fortunately, she did all the right things."

Burke’s wife drove the girl to school.

Burke checked his home's surveillance camera and noticed video showed a car going back and forth on the street.

Burke notified police and provided them with the chilling video.

Richardson Police spokesman Mike Wieczorek said the suspect's vehicle is a black or dark blue 2014-2016 4-door Toyota Corolla S. Police described the suspect as being bald, between 20 and 30 years old, with dark skin and is possibly Latino.

A male is seen on surveillance video jumping out of the passenger side of the vehicle and chasing after the boy who was running back to the house.

The Richardson Independent School District wrote a letter telling parents to tell their children that "if anything out of the ordinary occurs on the way to or from school, run to a safe place and report it to a trusted adult, staff member, or parent immediately."

A second apparent kidnapping attempt happened around 2:40 p.m. in nearby Far North Dallas.

Genna Skolnik said her sons were playing near their home with their friends when "I hear the door fly open and I hear: 'Jay’s being kidnapped! Jay’s being kidnapped!" Skolnik said she initially thought it was a prank.

But Skolnik recalled a disturbing detail: "The guys in the car were telling them: 'Hey, come talk to us, check out our car.' One of the boys was totally spooked and said, 'We need to run.'"

"They were calling to my son saying: ‘Hey, we have a football player in the car. Like, you should come talk to him,'" Skolnik recalled, adding that her son said, "I don’t talk to strangers!" With that, she said the driver put the car in reverse, and her son "started running."

A male is seen on surveillance video jumping out of the passenger side of the vehicle and chasing after the boy who was running back to the house. The male abruptly stopped when he noticed the concerned mother on the porch recording him with her cellphone.

"I just wanted to take the picture and chase him back, but I wanted to get the boys inside first," Skolnik explained, adding that she was able to capture a photo of the vehicle's license plate number.

The Dallas Police Department said in a press release: "The preliminary investigation determined a group of children were outside when they were approached by a young Hispanic male in a white SUV, asking one of the children to look at something in the back of his vehicle."

Dallas Police identified the vehicle as a Toyota Four-Runner. Investigators are also looking at a dark-colored Chevy pickup truck caught on video that also could have been involved in the apparent attempted kidnapping.

Council Member Cara Mendelsohn of District 12 in northern Dallas was "shocked" over the apparent attempted child abductions.

"I am thankful no child was hurt. Either incident could have resulted in tragedy,” Mendelsohn wrote on the X social media platform.

According to data from the crime analytics dashboard for the city of Dallas, there have been 122 kidnappings or abductions this year — a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2023. There have been 57 crimes of human trafficking committed this year in Dallas.

Texas toilets booby-trapped with pressure-activated explosives; 3 injured, 1 arrested

A Texas man is accused of booby-trapping public toilets with pressure-activated explosives, which injured three people.

The first attack was reported July 20 at the Wash Tub car wash in Helotes, which is about a half hour northwest of San Antonio.

Employees reportedly were able to identify Alden to police because he was a 'regular customer' who used a membership card.

A woman allegedly sat down on the toilet at the car wash after which a small explosion occurred.

Detectives said a woman was injured but left the location before the police report was made, KENS-TV reported.

"The female customer was reportedly very upset and left the location before a report was made," the affidavit states. "The Helotes Police Department responded to the location to take the report and document the scene."

Investigators discovered "small, readily available commercial fireworks that are designed to explode when pressure is applied," according to the outlet.

Six days later, two more people were injured from booby-trapped toilets at a Wash Tub in San Antonio.

A female employee and a young girl were victims of the explosives within minutes of each other, according to the affidavit.

Investigators reportedly found remains of the small fireworks in the two bathrooms.

Citing a probable cause affidavit, Law & Crime reported that a Wash Tub representative said that on both dates "loud bangs were heard in the bathroom by customers using the bathroom/toilet.”

In all three cases, a man was caught on security cameras entering and leaving the unisex bathrooms, sitting in the lobbies of the car washes, watching the bathroom door, and then leaving after the explosives went off, the affidavit read.

On Aug. 1, police arrested 46-year-old Paul Moses Alden of Helotes.

Alden was charged with arson causing reckless damage or bodily injury, according to police records.

His bond was set at $50,000, and he was bailed out the same day he was arrested.

Court records show Alden is awaiting indictment. A court date has not been set for his next hearing.

Employees reportedly were able to identify Alden to police because he was a "regular customer" who used a membership card. Police reportedly had video of Alden as well as his vehicle and license plate.

A Wash Tub spokesman said, "We are very pleased with the quick action of the San Antonio Police Department and the arson investigator working this case. We will continue to fully cooperate with SAPD and the district attorney's office."

Both fire and police departments are still investigating the exploding toilets.

4 Indian nationals accused of trafficking 100 people or more in Texas and forcing them to perform tech labor: Report

Four people of Indian origin have been arrested and charged after allegedly forcing perhaps more than 100 people to live in confined quarters in Texas and perform computer-related labor.

In March, a pest control company became concerned after providing services for bed bugs at a residence in Princeton, Texas, about 40 miles northeast of Dallas. When company staff members arrived at the home, they reportedly discovered between three and five women crammed into each room, suitcases strewn everywhere.

Further investigation revealed that the alleged forced-labor scheme involved perhaps more than 100 victims, both male and female, and several locations, including in nearby cities Melissa and McKinney.

The company called Princeton police, asking for a welfare check at the home. Detectives eventually obtained a search warrant for the residence, and what they found there was shocking.

According to reports, at least 15 women had been living at the home, working as programmers for shell companies owned by the homeowner, Santhosh Katkoori, and his wife, Dwaraka Gunda, both of whom are 31 years old.

At the home, investigators discovered "multiple" electronic devices, including laptops, cellphones, and printers, a police press release said. They also found allegedly forged documents.

Further investigation revealed that the alleged forced-labor scheme involved perhaps more than 100 victims, both male and female, and several locations, including in nearby cities Melissa and McKinney. Electronic devices and "documents" were confiscated from those sites as well, the press release said.

On Monday, four individuals — Katkoori and Gunda as well as 24-year-old Chandan Dasireddy and 37-year-old Anil Male — were arrested and charged with trafficking of persons, a second-degree felony that carries a sentence of up to 20 years in prison.

The press release states that the four suspects currently live in Texas, but other reports indicate that they may originally come from southeastern India. "Four persons from the Telugu States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were arrested in Collin County, Texas, United States, on Monday on charges of alleged trafficking of people," read an article from the Hindu, an India-based outlet.

The Times of India used similar language, describing the suspects as "four individuals of Telugu origin."

Blaze News left a message for the Princeton detective assigned to the case, asking for further clarification on the suspects' citizenship but did not receive a return call.

Police did hint that further arrests will be made in the case and other charges may be forthcoming.
