Tom Brady shreds QB Daniel Jones for leaving New York Giants: 'I don't care if they asked me to be scout team safety'

Tom Brady said he disagreed with Daniel Jones asking for a release from the New York Giants after he was asked to play on the practice squad following being replaced as the starting quarterback.

Jones was reportedly seen playing for the Giants' scout team as a safety last Thursday after being benched following another abysmal season, leading the Giants to a 2-8 record while at the helm.

The next day, Giants general manger John Mara said that Jones requested a release from the team, with both sides mutually agreeing that it was the "best" option moving forward.

During the Giants' 27-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys six days later on Thanksgiving, all-time great Tom Brady gave his perspective on the events from the broadcast booth.

Brady described Jones' decision as something he wouldn't do and implied it showed a lack of dedication to winning and to his teammates.

"I don't know how that whole situation went down, but to think that you would ask for a release from a team that committed a lot to you is maybe different than I would have handled that," Brady said on Fox.

'I showed up every day.'

Brady said that while "everyone makes individual choices," the people who "mattered most" to him were his teammates.

The legendary quarterback then hinted Jones took issue with being placed on the scout team:

"I showed up every day. I don't care if they asked me to be scout team safety, be scout team quarterback, I was gonna do whatever I could to help the team win."

Brady added that getting the trust and respect of his teammates was paramount, no matter what was happening with his personal situation.

Jones amassed a horrible 24-44-1 record over six seasons with the Giants, with just one winning record of 9-6-1 in 2022. That single successful season inspired Giants brass to reward him with a four-year, $160 million contract extension.

This was followed by just three wins over the next two seasons, with Jones being benched in favor of local quarterback Tommy DeVito.

Jones has since signed with the Minnesota Vikings for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season. The Vikings are an impressive 9-2 but already have a crowded squad with four quarterbacks signed to the roster.

Since his retirement, Brady has signed with Fox Sports as an analyst and commentator. Brady also gives his weekly power rankings and started a new YouTube channel documenting his travels and events.

'F*** off': NFL reveals Tom Brady's wild reaction to being asked to sign an Eli Manning jersey

NFL legend Tom Brady had a very not-safe-for-work reaction when asked to sign the jersey of fellow NFL great Eli Manning.

Brady is widely considered to be the best NFL player of all time, pulling in a whopping seven Super Bowl victories. Playing in 10 Super Bowls in total, Brady had a record of 7-3. Two of those losses were to Manning, who played for the New York Giants: Super Bowl XLII in 2008 and Super Bowl XLVI in 2012.

The first loss even ruined the New England Patriots' perfect season, giving Brady plenty of reason for a sour taste in his mouth.

Recently, the NFL revealed footage of Brady sitting at a table signing a number of his jerseys from his time playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

As Brady is signing away on the pile of No. 12 jerseys, a jersey is pulled away to reveal a No. 10 Manning jersey from the Giants. After giving a blank stare at the merchandise handler, Brady decided to sign it anyway.

"Tom Brady was asked to sign an Eli Manning jersey," the onscreen caption read.

The camera pans and then zooms in on the back of the jersey, where Brady appeared to sign "F*** off" right on the numbers.

Then, Manning was shown the jersey as he got ready to sign it himself.

"Beautiful," he said as he laughed uncomfortably, reading the message.

"I don't know what...I'll sign here. What do I say to this?" he murmured.

"I'll say 'good game,'" he added, giving an awkward look to the camera.

"At least he signed it," the NFL wrote on its TikTok page.

Despite being out of the NFL for nearly two years, Brady has consistently faced questions surrounding a possible return. He has stated himself that he isn't opposed to a comeback should the right team come knocking.

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams recently said that he still believes Brady would be an effective quarterback in the league.

"He's getting older, but I mean he's still got to be able to throw it better than half these dudes in the league."

As for Manning, he is long retired since playing just four games in 2019. He routinely hosts the "Manningcast" with his brother Petyon on ESPN, where they watch and comment on NFL games on Monday nights.

'You want to test God?!' Golf course altercation leads to intense flex-off over stray ball

A man became incensed after he was antagonized by a group of golfers who claimed he took a woman's ball, resulting in the man getting shirtless and challenging another man to a fight.

The incident occurred at the Crooked Creek Golf Course in southeast Michigan, according to OutKick, which described the area where the exchange took place as chaotic. The specific location is reportedly where three holes on the course converge, with netting even positioned to prevent golfers from hitting one another.

"We got a 'Karen' on the golf course," the TikTok video began, as an unknown individual recorded a golfer in a green and white-striped shirt holding a ball.

The group reportedly alleged that the man took the ball after it landed near him and refused to return it.

"You’ll leave after I don’t give you a goddamn thing.”

"I'm going to take your clubs," a woman off-screen said.

"Then leave! I'm going to stand here and you can complain, goodbye," the man continued saying to a person who was not seen. "You're the one who approached me and I asked her to no longer speak."

"You took her ball!" a woman is heard complaining.

"Please don't speak to me," the man answered.

"Bro, you took her ball," another man chimed in.

While still arguing with his original combatant, the golfer began to escalate the discussion by saying "I'll plant you, bitch boy. Get the f**k off the cart!" before quickly removing his shirt and flexing in a fit of rage.

"You see that! That’s a dude that’s been to heaven, bitch," he screamed. "You want to test God? You f**king come get it, s**t stack!”

"You think I'm mentally ill?" the man asked.

"I know you're mentally ill," a woman responded.

"Leave me alone," the man added as the group of golfers each drove away in their carts.

Tom Brady apologizes for comparing playing in the NFL to a military deployment: 'A very poor choice of words'

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady apologized after receiving some backlash for comparing playing in the NFL to deploying in the military.

Brady addressed the issue at the beginning of his weekly media briefing on Thursday.

"Before we start, can I say one thing? Earlier this week I made a statement about playing football and the military and it was a very poor choice of words," said Brady to reporters.

"And I just want to express that to any sentiments out there that people may have taken it in a certain way. I apologize," he added.

He was asked to explain his comments by a reporter, but he refused.

"To be honest, I don’t really want to expand on it too much," Brady responded. "I have a tremendous amount of gratitude to everyone who served. In the end, we play a game, and the military is defending our country. It’s two different things and I shouldn’t have made the comparison."

The superstar quarterback made the comments about the military on the "Let's Go!" podcast released on Monday.

"I almost look at like a football season like you’re going away on deployment in the military," Brady said on the podcast. "And it’s like, ‘Man, here I go again.’ And there’s only one way to do it."

Some veterans and their families were offended by the comments and took to social media to express their displeasure.

"Hey @TomBrady Did you ever get shot at during practice? Blown up? Have your teammates get wounded or killed?" tweeted U.S. Army veteran Richard Ojeda. "Did you ever finish a practice and wonder how you were able to make it through alive??? YOU PLAY A GAME. Worst case scenario is you lose a game. Not a life."

"Tom Brady's reference to his career as being deployed is a prime example of some detached brat who has no freakin' idea what military and their families go through during war. He owes an apology to say the least," tweeted a woman who identified as a combat veteran spouse.

Brady's third season with the Buccaneers is off to a slow start with three victories and three losses. He's also been plagued by reports of marital problems with his supermodel wife Gisele Bündchen.

Tony Romo faces online criticism over his joke about Tom Brady's supermodel wife Giselle Bündchen

Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo saw some online blowback after he made a joke about Giselle Bündchen, the supermodel wife of superstar quarterback Tom Brady.

The quip came after Brady made NFL history during a game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Romo was one of the announcers for the CBS game.

Brady threw his 600th touchdown during the game but his receiver Mike Evans handed off the ball to a fan instead of holding it for its historical significance. Romo joked as the fan, later identified as Byron Kennedy, negotiated with a Tampa Bay staffer for the return of the ball to Brady.

"Right here, he's like, 'we need that ball, that's 600,'" said Romo on the broadcast, jokingly narrating the negotiations.

"Really? So what do you want? A million?" he added.

"A date with Gisele. A date with Gisele and I'm in," Romo said in the voice of the fan.

"OK, Tom will do it. One time, you got it," he added.

Here's the video of Romo's comments:

While Romo clearly meant it as a joke, many on social media did not find any humor in his comments.

"I don't think what Romo said was funny. It was tasteless. But that's just me," tweeted Mike Freeman, the sports race and inequality editor for USA Today.

"So is anyone going to talk about how inappropriate it was that Romo thought Brady should give that fan a "day with Gisele"? @nfl@tonyromo Women are not items for trade," tweeted another critic.

"Women are still property and this was a joke everyone laughed at," replied another detractor who added vomiting emojis.

"[Gisele Bundchen] is the mother of @TomBrady's CHILDREN - have some respect @tonyromo@NFL - she's not some prize for bargaining - I found this disgusting," responded another critic.

"Gross. y'all literally pimp out your wives/SOs for memorabilia? really?" tweeted Shalise Manza Young, who wrote up her outrage for Yahoo News.

Many others on social media defended Romo and called it a harmless joke.

Kennedy received quite a lot for the ball, including "two signed jerseys and a helmet from Brady, a signed Evans jersey and his game cleats, a $1,000 credit at the Buccaneers' team store, and two season passes for the remainder of this season as well as next season."

One sports auction expert said the ball could be valued as much as $900,000, had it gone to auction.

Brady and the Buccaneers ended up burying the Bears by a score of 38 to 3 points.
