Horowitz: Arkansas GOP governor stands on the hill of chemical castration for minors

It's a headline I never would have imagined writing just a few years ago. But in the year 2021, it's actually newsworthy when a completely red state has enough votes to block castration operations and hormone destruction therapy for minors. In most states, governments can regulate every aspect of doctors' right to practice, including prescribing cheap and effective FDA-approved drugs to treat COVID, yet they have a green light to perform castration on minors.

On Tuesday, the House voted 71-24, and the Senate 25-8, to override Governor Asa Hutchinson's veto of the "Save Adolescents from Experimentation (SAFE) Act" (HB 1570). The bill doesn't even ban such a barbaric practice for adults. It merely bars puberty blocking, hormone therapy, or castration of minors. Shockingly, it's the first state to do so, even though Republicans control government in 23 states.

Both chambers initially passed the bill in March by similar margins, but the governor vetoed it on Monday. In Arkansas, the legislature only needs a simple majority reaffirmation of the initial vote to override a veto, but in this case, legislators repudiated him by a mile.

In vetoing the bill, the governor charged, "You are starting to let lawmakers interfere with health care and set a standard for legislation overriding health care." He contended that "the state should not presume to jump into every ethical health decision."

So, what if a minor went to the doctor and said she feels like a mermaid and wants him to amputate her legs? Is that not the business of the state either? If anything, amputating legs is less systemically damaging to the body than castration or gender mutilation procedures and hormones.

Moreover, the sudden libertarian conversion is quite rich given Hutchinson's recent foray into COVID fascism. Hutchinson had no problem interfering with health care decisions by forcing people to wear experimental medical devices, aka masks, and fining businesses for not participating in his worthless health care restrictions. In fact, he just vetoed a bill to zero out COVID fines on businesses and managed to pressure a number of House members to flip their votes and sustain his veto.

Gov. Hutchinson widely received accolades from conservatives when he signed SB 354, the bill barring boys in girls' sports, after South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem vetoed a similar bill in her state. Idaho, Mississippi, and Tennessee have also passed similar legislation. However, it is baffling that he would veto this bill barring castration for minors, which is a much bigger slam dunk. Men playing female sports is absurd and unfair; castration of minors is sadistic. What's next – assisted suicide of minors? After all, Governor Hutchinson, we wouldn't want to interfere with health care decisions.

Hutchinson got a lot of pressure from the same people in the health care cartel who obsessively pushed COVID fascism. He claimed to be concerned "with those young people who are currently under hormone treatment." Isn't it interesting how the same health care cartel that sought to ban lifesaving COVID treatment using drugs, such as hydroxychloroquine, that have been safely dispensed billions of times somehow believes it's safe to destroy the hormone system of minors? Adults cannot get safe COVID treatment, but children can make decisions on castration.

This sort of diabolical worldview passes as science and medicine in this era, yet Hutchinson thinks that the GOP legislators are the extremists. "The Republican Party that I grew up with believed in a restrained government that did not jump in the middle of every issue," bemoaned the governor.

Actually, governor, the party you grew up in would have banned such behavior even for adults and would have locked up those promoting it in mental asylums. Hutchinson had the nerve to say on Tucker Carlson's show last night that he appealed to "limited government principles" in the mold of Buckley and Reagan by promoting chemical castration for minors. He suggested that it is conservatives who are interjecting themselves into cultural wars, as if the woke left – mask-wearing, transgenderism, illegal immigration, and all – is the normal default.

That we have ceded the playing field to the left and allowed them to define normal in every aspect of our lives is exactly why we have lost the country. The fact that we have governors in nearly every state who think this way is why the red states are not much better. But if the state legislatures would man up, then perhaps the tide will turn.

Pentagon reverses Trump's transgender ban and orders new protections for transgender soldiers

The Pentagon reverses the order by former President Donald Trump that largely banned transgender people from serving in the military and ordered new protections for transgender people wanting to enlist.

The announcement was made in a statement from the Pentagon on the International Transgender Day of Visibility.

"On this International Transgender Day of Visibility, we recognize the great strides our Nation has made raising awareness of the challenges faced by the transgender community," read the statement from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

"I am pleased to announce we have updated departmental policy governing the open service of transgender individuals in the military. This updated policy reinforces our previous decision to allow for the recruitment, retention, and care of all qualified transgender individuals," Austin continued.

"The United States military is the greatest fighting force on the planet because we are composed of an all-volunteer team willing to step up and defend the rights and freedoms of all Americans," Austin concluded. "We will remain the best and most capable team because we avail ourselves of the best possible talent that America has to offer, regardless of gender identity."

Trump had ordered a ban on most transgender people in the military in a series of tweets in July 2017. Those tweets were deleted when Trump was banned from Twitter after the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

"After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military," Trump said at the time. "Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail."

Stephanie Miller of the Defense Department's Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion told reporters during a media briefing that about 2,200 members of the U.S. military have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria or sought care related to gender transition.

CNN report on transgender laws claims 'there is no consensus criteria for assigning sex at birth'

A CNN report documenting policies about transgender rights across the nation was ridiculed when it claimed that there was no consensus on the criteria to assign sex at birth.

The report was published Tuesday and immediately elicited mockery online.

Though the two executive orders signed by Noem do not explicitly mention transgender athletes, they reference the supposed harms of the participation of "males" in women's athletics -- an echo of the transphobic claim, cited in other similar legislative initiatives, that transgender women are not women. The orders also reference "biological sex," a disputed term that refers to the sex as listed on students' original birth certificates.

It's not possible to know a person's gender identity at birth, and there is no consensus criteria for assigning sex at birth.

Many on Twitter noted that there is a very broad consensus on how to assign sex at birth.

"This is CNN. Unbelievable," responded talk radio host Erick Erickson.

"I'm sorry. Is this supposed to be a hard news writeup?" asked Stephanie Slade of Reason. "The author of this piece is listed as a breaking news reporter for the politics section. What is happening right now?"

"What does this boy genius consider chromosomes and genitalia? How does the reporter think determinations have been made so far? Lucky guesses?" asked another critic.

"There, in a nutshell, is why I turned off CNN and peak woked a few months ago. The cognitive dissonance was too much. They are hiring imbeciles and letting them run wild. The lunatics have taken over the asylum," tweeted another user.

Some directly addressed the author of the article, Devan Cole.

"You... you do know women can get ultrasounds while the baby is still in utero to find out the sex of their child, right? The criteria is pretty cut and dry here," said one user.

Cole did not respond to the criticism.

Horowitz: With attack on Colorado baker by transgender lobby, red states can take action

Here we go again. It appears that Jack Phillips of Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado is the only baker in the entire country. He was the go-to Christian baker for gay wedding ceremonies, and now he might be forced to bake a transgender "transition" cake (yep, there's a cake for everything). Once again, in a world where the entire business universe can discriminate against and censor conservatives, the left gets to have their cake and eat it too.

The plaintiff in the new trial that began on Monday, a man who now goes by the name Autumn Scardina, admits to purposely targeting Phillips after the Supreme Court took up his original case, just as a matter of "calling someone's bluff." In other words, this was not about a burning desire to eat a cake that was blue on the outside and pink on the inside.

Some might be wondering why this litigation can even get off the ground. Didn't the Supreme Court side with Phillips in the original case? Well, as I noted at the time, the supposedly conservative court actually invited further lawsuits and only gave Jack Phillips a very narrow win based on the unique circumstances of the Colorado Civil Rights Commission's unfair targeting of him in that case.

On June 4, 2018, the high court ruled 7-2 that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission singled out Jack Phillips and engaged in overt religious discrimination in its ruling against him. However, the court did not rule that a state can force an individual to craft messages that violate his First Amendment rights. Justice Kennedy, writing for the majority, affirmed his previous view that there is "authority of a State and its governmental entities to protect the rights and dignity of gay persons who are, or wish to be, married."

The ACLU was correct at the time when it predicted that this was just a Pyrrhic victory for religious liberty and that, in fact, the court "reaffirmed the core principle" that, generally, speaking, businesses must serve everyone and every event for any reason.

We live in surreal times, when our political and legal culture have the First Amendment and anti-discrimination law turned on their heads. On the one hand, they suggest that a person cannot refuse service for a particular message that violates his conscience when the customer can obtain that service easily almost anywhere else. Yet, at the same time, they believe that the entire corporate world can collude with each other and government to deny conservatives the ability to obtain any service that essentially allows them to engage in effective speech or commerce.

Likewise, they believe all stores can deny all service to any individual who doesn't take the draconian step of covering his mouth and nose, yet a single store can't deny service for a particular message directly targeting the merchant's own religious beliefs.

Which is why, if conservatives really want to put an end to this, they should not only try to get a new case in front of the presumed more conservative Supreme Court, but actually fight back in the red states. All red states should pass legislation protecting individuals, institutions, and businesses from being forced to service ideas, speech, or events that violate their religious convictions. A group of 20 or so states with strong majorities in the legislatures should work together to do this all at once so that the left's cancel culture cannot effectively target and isolate one individual state.

What the saga with South Dakota's female sports bill teaches us is that Republicans in red states are terrified of cancel culture, which is certainly the strongest on the side of the Rainbow Jihad. As such, each state needs to pass a bill similar to what Mississippi passed several years ago – but they should do so all at once. What this will do is not only prevent the states from being isolated, but also create a circuit split in the courts. It would be most prudent to promote a bill like this in the Dakotas, Iowa, Arkansas, and Missouri so that it would tee up the case for the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, the most conservative in the country.

This in turn would force the Supreme Court to take up the case. While we've learned never to take the "conservative" justices for granted, with the new orientation of the court, it is likely we have at least five votes.

Finally, conservatives will have to confront the entire concept of judicial supremacy head-on. The same courts that see no problem with states violating natural law with COVID fascism or changing election law during elections will interfere with anything and everything red states do to keep their economies, culture, and liberties functioning. The only reason we don't have more court interference is because Republican legislatures rarely do anything righteous with their strong majorities.

If conservatives ever hope to make red states distinguishable from blue states, they will have to give the courts the same treatment the blue states do and show them the power of the other branches of government.

Harry's razors ends sponsorship with conservative show after one tweet complaining about transgender issue

A razor company ended its business relationship with a conservative show after one Twitter user complained about their treatment of the transgender debate.

Harry's razors responded to a Twitter complaint from a user with only 15 followers and ended their sponsorship of The Michael Knowles Show, a conservative political commentary show.

"@harrys is sponsoring Michael Knowles. The same @michaeljknowles who is spreading homophobic and transphobic content. He had Joesph Nicolosi jr as a guest on his show and equates being trans to having schizophrenia. It is wrong that Harry's or anyone sponsors this vile content," read the tweet from the anonymous account.

"Thanks for bringing this up. We condemn the views in this video, which are inexcusable & at odds with our longtime support of the LGBTQ+ community," said the official account Harry's razors.

"We've ended our relationship with this show & are looking into our sponsorships to prevent any values misalignment going forward," they added.

Jeremy Boreing, the producer of the show, responded on Twitter to the company.

"Harry's makes great razors. That's why we've been proud to advertise them for years. We know @harrys doesn't share our values. Who cares? Economic decisions shouldn't be political decisions," tweeted Boreing.

"But now Harry's has decided to declare that conservatives don't deserve great razors.

Boreing went on to point out that the video that had ostensibly caused Harry's razors to end their business relationship was from 2019.

"All that happened here is they got caught - caught committing the 'inexcusable' sin of selling good products to good people with different political values," he tweeted. "That's where we are."

Knowles also addressed the controversy on his show and criticized Harry's razors for attacking his audience in a "vicious" way.

Transgender activists are outraged at J.K Rowling's new book about a cross-dressing serial killer

Transgender activists are outraged at the newest book by J.K. Rowling, the famed "Harry Potter" creator, because they say it will create more antagonism and anger against the transgender community.

Rowling has been embroiled in a very heated public feud with transgender activists over her comments defending "natal girls and women," a phrase intended to refer to people who were born female, as opposed to transgender women.

Activists are accusing her of injecting transphobia into her newest mystery book titled, "Troubled Blood," which features a serial killer who dresses up as a woman in order to ensnare his victims.

"JK Rowling's new book is about a cis woman investigating a cis male serial killer who dresses as a woman to kill his cis female victims," tweeted transgender journalist Serene Daniari.

"Like...how much more blatantly does Rowling have to out herself as a transphobe for y'all to stop buying her books and publishers to drop her?" Daniari asked.

Other trans activists and supporters of the movement took to Twitter to excoriate the popular author.

"F*** you, @jk_rowling. To use a platform like yours to send a message like this, in 2020," tweeted songwriter Simon Curtis. "History will not remember you kindly."

"If I could go back in time, I'd do my best to stop the holocaust and stuff but also I'd tell everyone what an a**hole JK Rowling turned out to be," replied songwriter Grey DeLisle-Griffin.

Feminism or phobia

Rowling has been attacked as a "TERF," an acronym that transgender activists use to insult women who argue that some transgender rights will make women less safe. It stands for "transgender exclusionary radical feminists."

In June, Rowling defended her position in an essay titled, "TERF wars."

"Trans people need and deserve protection. Like women, they're most likely to be killed by sexual partners," she wrote in the essay.

"So I want trans women to be safe," Rowling wrote. "At the same time, I do not want to make natal girls and women less safe. When you throw open the doors of bathrooms and changing rooms to any man who believes or feels he's a woman – and, as I've said, gender confirmation certificates may now be granted without any need for surgery or hormones – then you open the door to any and all men who wish to come inside."

Activists were not receptive to her argument at that time either.

"J.K. Rowling's essay is dangerous hogwash that will only hurt trans people and reinforce a gender binary that oppresses women but go off, I guess," said one critic.

William Shatner flattens 'virtue signaling' critics online who are accusing him of transphobia

Iconic actor William Shatner flattened an online mob demanding that he apologize for his stance on the use of the word "cisgender" as an epithet.

The "Star Trek" celebrity addressed the controversy by explaining that some people were using "cis" as an insult to degrade those who disagreed with the transgender lobby.

"CIS can be used as a slur. Look at the use of it. I didn't attack anyone, I asked that the label not be used in tweets to me," he tweeted with screenshots of the word being used as an insult.

"Sorry if you think that you cannot live a normal life without demanding to use the label on someone who has asked it not be used. It's a petty argument," he added.

One screenshot showed a response that called him "just another rich white cishet bully."

"Cisgender" is a term used by transgender advocates to describe people with traditional gender roles. They prefer this term because it removes any implication that transgender is non-normal, and that traditional genders are more normal.

"What a disgusting cis male"

Another screenshot showed a response saying, "He is blinded by is [sic] white privilege. What a disgusting cis male he is."

Shatner reiterated his stance that "cis" was being used by some as a slur.

"CIS & Trans are self described terms. Only an individual can use them on themselves. To use it on another individual is a form of 'outing' that bully groups used to do on people they thought were homosexual," responded Shatner.

"It's wrong & I don't like the label. You don't have a say in how I feel," he added.

Shatner joins author J.K. Rowling among the few celebrities who have stood up to the LGBT lobby online. Rowling was criticized and "cancelled" for disagreeing slightly with the transgender political agenda by claiming that "natal girls" need protections from predators using trans-approved bathroom policies. For her heresy, she was called a "TERF," another transgender lobby insult that stands for "transgender exclusionary radical feminists."
