DeSantis would WRECK the left with THIS Trump cabinet seat

In a shocking move, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has dropped out of the 2024 presidential race and endorsed former President Donald Trump.

Glenn Beck believes this was a good move.

“This was my advice ... Thursday or Friday, my advice was he should drop out now — do no more damage to his name. You don’t want to look like you lost over and over and over again,” Glenn says.

However, protecting his reputation isn’t the only reason it was a good move.

“Mr. President, listen carefully. Please, will you consider Ron DeSantis as your attorney general?” Glenn asks.

Not only does DeSantis have an excellent track record in Florida, but Glenn notes that he “has law experience up the wazoo; he’s a proven fighter” and “he knows the deep state.”

“If there’s anyone who could go in and clean up the justice department and then start cleaning up all of the nightmares and return justice back to the justice department, I think it’s Ron DeSantis,” Glenn explains.

This, Glenn believes, would be a great move for Donald Trump.

“If he would accept that, and Donald Trump would announce that now, you would have huge momentum with Ron DeSantis voters, you would also have it with Trump voters,” Glenn says.

Trump supporters aren't going to like this

Former President Donald Trump was just at the Fox News town hall, and he made some statements that are blatantly untrue, according to Pat Gray.

Those statements all have to do with Ron DeSantis — he kept repeating lies like “the biggest fan of Dr. Fauci was Ron De-Sanctimonious.”

And Pat, for one, is at his wits end.

“You are the one who kept him, promoted him, left him in there, followed his advice for a year. You can’t be serious that you’re trying to pin Anthony Fauci on Ron DeSantis,” Gray says.

Because Trump listened to Anthony Fauci, he was essentially “the president of the United States for a year,” Keith Malinak agrees.

And they have the receipts to back it up.

On January 3, 2021, Trump tweeted: “Something how Dr. Fauci is revered by the LameStream Media as such a great professional, having done, they say, such an incredible job, yet he works for me and the Trump Administration, and I am in no way given any credit for my work. Gee, could this just be more Fake News?”

While Gray admits that he “did appreciate his presidency in a big way,” it doesn’t mean the former president’s record is perfect.

“He’s trying desperately to make DeSantis the lockdown guy, and I’m sorry, that is just not reality. That was not reality then, and it’s not now,” Gray adds.

Trump vs. DeSantis war gets ugly with latest attacks

Former President Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis may be on the same political side — but they definitely don’t show it.

Trump has launched a myriad of attacks against DeSantis, but this one is a little different.

Trump says, “Ron DeSantis is a young man, who is not doing well against me in the polls, to put it mildly. I believe that if he decides to run for president — which will only hurt and somewhat divide the Republican party — which we don’t need.” He continues, “He will lose the cherished and massive MAGA vote, and never be able to successfully run for office again. I believe that. If he remains governor, which is what Florida voters assumed he would do, it would be a whole different story.”

“Just say it,” he ends.

Dave Rubin believes this is a massive change in Trump’s attitude toward DeSantis, and it’s based on fear.

Rubin says, “I know a huge percentage of my audience is on the Trump 2024 train, and again there’s a good chance I’ll end up voting for him and you know all my disclaimers related to all this — but you really need to acknowledge a truth here.”

This truth, he continues, is that “this is the first time we are seeing Trump absolutely quaking in his boots afraid of another candidate.”

“He’s basically begging him not to run,” Rubin finishes.

'Don't give them what they WANT': Glenn Beck cautions conservatives against Trump-DeSantis divide

Immediately following the mostly disappointing 2022 midterm elections, many conservatives have rushed to back either rising GOP star Gov. Ron DeSantis or former President Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

But Glenn Beck cautioned conservatives not to engage in the post-midterm debate between Trump and DeSantis, saying instead that we are blessed to have both men fighting on the side of freedom.

"I am not going to engage in this and I urge you not to engage in this. We have an opportunity right now to have both of these guys on our side. I want both of them in the fight," Glenn said on the radio program.

"Let's count our blessings of having two great fighters. Can you name one on the Democratic side?" he asked.

"Let's celebrate that we have two of them and let the system work it out. We cannot separate ourselves from one another. If Donald Trump wins the nomination, I am all in. If Ron DeSantis wins the nomination, I am all in. It is really important that we don't divide ourselves. That's what the Democrats do. That's what they need us to do," Glenn continued. "Don't give them what they want."

Trump irks conservatives, could be damaging his political career by attacking DeSantis

Former President Donald Trump may be damaging himself politically by attacking Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican figure who has become enormously popular on the political right.

Trump, who is widely expected to mount another White House bid, has been taking shots at the Sunshine State governor — in addition to referring to him as "Ron DeSanctimonious," Trump has threatened to dish unflattering information about DeSantis if the governor runs for president. "I think if he runs he could hurt himself very badly," Trump said, according to the Wall Street Journal. "I think the base would not like it."

DeSantis clobbered Democratic challenger Charlie Crist during Florida's gubernatorial contest. While Trump said earlier this week that he had voted for DeSantis, on Thursday, the former president issued a lengthy statement in which he targeted the Florida politician, calling him "an average REPUBLICAN Governor."

"NewsCorp, which is Fox, the Wall Street Journal, and the no longer great New York Post (bring back Col!), is all in for Governor Ron DeSanctimonious, an average REPUBLICAN Governor with great Public Relations, who didn’t have to close up his State, but did, unlike other Republican Governors, whose overall numbers for a Republican, were just average—middle of the pack—including COVID, and who has the advantage of SUNSHINE, where people from badly run States up North would go no matter who the Governor was, just like I did!" Trump wrote at the beginning of the long statement.

Some on the right took issue with Trump's rant and were critical of the former president.

"This is exactly why you’re bleeding extremely staunch supporters like me Trump. The great Governor has done nothing 'sanctimonious' to deserve that super lame nickname, or these lies about his (much better than yours) Covid policies. DeSantis 2024," tweeted Storm Paglia of Townhall.

"Why? Why do this, man?" Townhall's Matt Vespa tweeted about Trump's statement. In another post, he said that the former president "is just self-destructing."

"I was genuinely excited to see a primary fight between these two. I think that's what would be best for the country. But apparently Trump is going to just embarrass himself and go down in flames and I'll be honest, it saddens me a little. Not how the Trump era should end," Jesse Kelly tweeted. "If Trump is dumb enough to attack the guy EVERY Republican in America is currently happy with, this primary is already over. He’s gonna lose at least half his support to DeSantis overnight," he added in another tweet.

"Yikes. If this is real, Trump might have just cost himself the primary in 2024," Justin T. Haskins tweeted.

"I voted for Trump twice and campaigned for him. He did some great things in office. But Trump's selfishness really hurt us this election and it's time to move on from him. He's playing right into Democrats’ hands right now by attacking DeSantis and he's lost me," Caleb Hull tweeted.

'Shameless' New York Times mocked for saying DeSantis is 'meaner' than Trump, doesn't have the 'soft edges' or 'natural charisma' of the former president

Since Donald Trump made his famous ride down his golden escalator to announce his candidacy for the presidency, the New York Times has declared him to be "evil," an "authoritarian strongman," and compared him to dictators. However, a new piece in the Gray Lady suggests that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is actually "meaner" than Trump. The NYT article even compliments Trump for exuding "natural charisma." The article was lampooned on Twitter

Jamelle Bouie wrote an opinion piece in the New York Times titled: "What the Martha's Vineyard Stunt Says About the Trump Wannabees."

The article begins, "Ron DeSantis, the Republican governor of Florida, likes to do stunts. It is a key part of how he’s built his reputation as a fighter for conservative causes — a reputation he hopes to ride to the White House."

Bouie berated DeSantis for flying 50 illegal immigrants to Martha's Vineyard.

"The conceit of this dehumanizing bit of political theater was that the liberal denizens of Martha’s Vineyard would reject the migrants out of hypocrisy, thus proving that Democrats aren’t actually interested in welcoming immigrants into their communities." To DeSantis and his amen corner, asylum seekers are disposable, and they believe that liberals will want to dispose of them too."

All within 48 hours of the arrival of 50 illegal immigrants, the Martha's Vineyard Chamber of Commerce declared a "humanitarian crisis," the Massachusetts National Guard was activated, and the migrants were shipped off to Joint Base Cape Cod – "a full-scale, joint-use base home to five military commands training for missions at home and overseas, conducting airborne search and rescue missions, and intelligence command and control."

Bouie argued that the "stunt failed to make its intended point."

The Times writer said DeSantis mimics Trump, and has "made himself into something of an heir apparent to the former president."

Bouie claimed that DeSantis comes off "a lot like a bully" to a typical person. The writer notes that Trump is also a bully, but then sang the praises of the former Republican president.

But Donald Trump is also a lifelong celebrity with a public persona that is as much about 'The Apprentice' and even 'Home Alone 2' as it is about his political career. What’s more, Trump has the skills of a celebrity. He’s funny, he has stage presence, and he has a kind of natural charisma. He can be a bully in part because he can temper his cruelty and egoism with the performance of a clown or a showman. He can persuade an audience that he’s just kidding — that he doesn’t actually mean it. Ron DeSantis cannot.

Previously, Bouie slammed Trump as a "fascist," who has an "authoritarian disposition," and said, "Trumpism is so dangerous."

Bouie then wrote of DeSantis, "He may be a more competent Trump in terms of his ability to use the levers of state to amass power, but he’s also meaner and more rigid, without the soft edges and eccentricity of the actual Donald Trump. DeSantis might be able to mimic Trump, in parts, but he does not have the temperament or personality to be another Trump."

Bouie said "DeSantis might flop like one of his stunts" on the national stage.

Reactions on Twitter mocked the New York Times for branding DeSantis to be "meaner" than Trump.

TheBlaze writer Delano Squires: "Trump has 'soft edges' now? First time I’ve heard that one."

Republican communicator Matt Whitlock: "'The soft edges of Donald Trump' is a hilarious set-up to the inevitable 'actually DeSantis is worse than Trump' we all knew was coming."

Attorney Ted Frank: "Wow, Literal Hitler Trump had soft edges."

Conservative commentator Matt Walsh: "NYT calls DeSantis a 'meaner' Trump who is better at using the levers of the state. They mean this as an insult. But it is exactly why I like him."

Radio host Jesse Kelly: "This is why it’s so hilarious/pathetic to watch various pundits on the Right surrender to the narrative that Trump was somehow a uniquely dangerous person. That’s not reality. That’s the narrative they’ll sell you for every new one. It’s all fiction. All lies."

Author Inez Stepman: "Omg they’re shameless. The only good R is the R that is less of a threat at any given moment, no matter how many Nazi accusations have been flung."

Writer Ryan Saavedra: "'We like the last guy better because he was more bark than bite. This new guy bites and he bites hard.'"

Public relations director John Cooper: "Lol here’s a NYT columnist writing wistfully about the 'softer edges of Trump.' This guy wrote a 2019 piece accusing Trump of 'using the presidency to stir anger and incite hatred' and rallying 'crowds with racist demagogy.' Pure hackery."

CEO Joe Colangelo: "'Trump is a unique threat to democracy, but DeSantis is worse' is not a persuasive argument. Statistically it's unlikely and the exact same people said Romney was evil just a few years ago."

Author Ilya Shapiro: "'Strange new respect' comes early for Trump in an effort to derail DeSantis. Not surprising given the author tbh."

Podcast host Liz Wheeler: "You say this like it’s an insult."

Journalist Brendon Leslie: "The media is getting a head start on framing DeSantis as 'meaner' than Trump because they know one day he’ll be unstoppable."
