Brit Hume defends Jacqui Heinrich after Trump lashes out at her: 'She was absolutely terrible'

President Donald Trump lashed out at a Fox News reporter and prompted veteran journalist Brit Hume to respond in defense.

Trump issued his invective against Jacqui Heinrich on Wednesday after she included in her reporting questions about impropriety related to the president promoting Tesla vehicles on the White House lawn.

'Was it sensitive to the moment that we are in buying a car, using the White House as a — as a backdrop for that?'

Heinrich is a leading White House correspondent for Fox News and also sits on the board of the White House Correspondents' Association, which has been feuding with the president.

"I watched Jacqui Heinrich from Fox over the weekend and I thought she was absolutely terrible," wrote Trump.

"She should be working for CNN, not Fox," he added. "Not surprisingly, I later found out that she’s a fan of the White House Correspondents Association!"

Hume responded that Heinrich was an unbiased reporter.

“I watched her too. She plays it straight, covering both sides of a story and has certainly played fair with you,” he wrote.

Heinrich raised the question about Tesla while interviewing Republican Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio on Sunday.

"Speaking of Tesla, the president bought one this week in an attempt to boost its stock after it plunged about 38% amid Musk’s DOGE cuts," said Heinrich.

"There was basically a display at the White House there. He surveyed some cars. It was happening as, you know, Americans’ 401(k) accounts were facing some struggles because of this tariff war happening right now," she continued.

"Was that an appropriate thing for the president to do there?" she asked. "Was it sensitive to the moment that we are in buying a car, using the White House as a — as a backdrop for that?"

Moreno responded that Trump was merely promoting an American-made car, which is something that other presidents had done previously, including former President Joe Biden.

Trump lashes out at Fox News anchor for arguing that Biden may not have orchestrated criminal prosecution: 'HOW STUPID!'

Former President Donald Trump lashed out at Fox News anchor Shannon Bream after she debated with his attorney about whether President Joe Biden had orchestrated the criminal case against him in a Manhattan court.

“I never knew Shannon Bream was so ‘naïve,'" he said on social media after the interaction.

Bream dissented from the Trump campaign narrative when Alina Habba said during a Wednesday interview on Fox News that Biden had directly ordered the criminal case about the hush payment made to adult film worker Stormy Daniels.

'He’s counting on the Shannon Breams of the World.'

The two were discussing the case after a day of jury deliberations ended without a verdict. Some criticized acting Justice Juan Merchan for the instructions he gave to the jury.

"Joe Biden unfortunately can’t really do anything in office. So he’s got to use the same means as somebody who’s just trying to have a quick slip and fall and make money. And that is, frankly, what we’re seeing right now," said Habba.

“This is exactly a Biden show because he’s got to distract the American people,” she added.

“But the Biden administration is not responsible for this trial,” Bream responded.

“How can you say the Biden administration is not responsible?” Habba fired back.

“It’s a state trial,” Bream responded. “It’s [Manhattan District Attorney] Alvin Bragg. Whether you think there’s a political motive for him, it’s not connected to the DOJ. I mean, the feds passed on these election charges.”

Habba went on to cite logs that showed Biden had met with state officials as evidence that the White House had orchestrated the cases against Trump.

“The feds passed on these cases, is the point I’m making," Bream replied.

'Bad day for Shannon!'

Trump lambasted Bream in a post on Truth Social, his preferred social media platform.

"In her interview with my Representative, Alina Habba, Shannon just suggested that Crooked Joe Biden was not involved in my Show Trial. HOW STUPID! Not only is he involved, he is virtually leading it, and all of the other Trials as well," he wrote.

"Meaning, his people, because he’s not mentally sharp enough to lead anything!" he continued. "Just take a look at the DOJ/White House Thugs involved, and everything else. Biden is incompetent, and feels that Weaponization is the only way he can win. He’s counting on the Shannon Breams of the World to get him there. Bad day for Shannon!"

Trump has been in contentious relationship with Fox News after some contributors criticized his campaign and presidency.

The debate between Bream and Habba can be seen on Fox News' YouTube channel.

Trump garners tens of millions of views with Tucker Carlson interview to compete against Fox News GOP debate

Former President Donald Trump garnered tens of millions of views in his interview with Tucker Carlson that was scheduled to compete with the Republican presidential primary debate on Fox News.

The interview with the former president was released just minutes before the debate began, and after only two hours, it had racked up 80 million views.

Trump has faced criticism for refusing to debate against his opponents in the first debate moderated by Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum. He explained in the interview with Carlson why he chose to skip the debate.

"You see the polls have come out, I'm leading by 50 and 60 points," Trump said.

"And some of them are at one and zero and two. And I'm saying, 'Do I sit there for an hour or two hours, whatever it's going to be, and get harassed by people that shouldn't even be running for president? Should I be doing that?" he added. "And a network that isn't particularly friendly, frankly.'"

Carlson also asked Trump whether he thought the country was headed to a civil war.

"There's a level of passion that I've never seen, there's a level of hatred that I've never seen, and that's probably a bad combination," he responded.

Here's the video from Tucker Carlson's social media account:

Trump also said during the interview that there was a chance Democrats might assassinate him if he won the presidency again.

“They are savage animals. They are people that are sick. Really sick. You have great people in the Democrat Party, great people that are Democrats,” Trump said. “But I’ve seen what they do, I’ve seen the lengths that they go to.”

Both Carlson and Trump have issued acidic rhetorical attacks against Fox News, the former after he left the news outlet and the latter all throughout his campaigns and first presidential term. Carlson has been publishing a new version of his show to Twitter, which has been rebranded as X by Elon Musk.

Fox News says it has 'parted ways' with anchor that was previously criticized by Trump

Fox News announced on Friday that it had parted ways with Leland Vittert, an anchor and host who had been previously criticized by former President Donald Trump.

"We have mutually and amicably parted ways with Leland Vittert," said a Fox News spokeswoman in an email statement.

Mediaite reported that rumors have been swirling about Vittert since he disappeared from the channel in January. His Twitter account has also been silent since about that time.

Vittert came under the crosshairs of the former president in March 2019 when he issued a tweet accusing him and two other Fox News weekend anchors of being biased.

"Were @FoxNews weekend anchors, @ArthelNeville and @LelandVittert, trained by CNN prior to their ratings collapse?" Trump tweeted.

"In any event, that's where they should be working, along with their lowest rated anchor, Shepard Smith!" he added.

Trump's Twitter account has since been permanently suspended by the social media company. The Hill noted at the time that it was not clear why Trump chose that weekend to criticize the three weekend anchors.

Vittert worked as Fox News' war correspondent for many years and reported from war zones in Libya, Egypt and Israel. In 2019 he faced a barrage of criticism after he pressed Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) about her meeting with Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.

He was also physically attacked along with his Fox News crew by violent protesters while he reported outside the White House in May 2020. Vittert and his crew were assaulted and chased by the rioters who were ostensibly protesting about the death of George Floyd. The incident was caught on video.

"This was the scariest situation I've been in since I got chased out of Tahrir Square by a mob, and this was equally scary," said Vittert about the attack.

Fox News daytime ratings drop by 32% in two weeks since the election

Cable news network behemoth Fox News dipped in viewership among a key demographic in recent ratings reports, and lost 32% of viewership in daytime.

Nielsen Media Research said that CNN took both top spots among the 25-54 age demographic during primetime on Friday. Anderson Cooper's show, "AC360," took the time spot with 604K viewers. Chris Cuomo's CNN show took the second highest slot.

Fox News' total viewership also fell an astounding 32% in the two weeks after the Nov. 3 election compared to its viewership the two weeks before the election.

While Fox News' viewership dropped, the viewership for CNN and MSNBC increased to near parity. In weekday average daytime viewership, Fox News garnered 1.63 million viewers, CNN received 1.68 million viewers, and MSNBC received 1.71 million viewers.

But despite the precipitous drop in daytime, Fox continues to beat the competition in total numbers of viewers during prime-time hours.

Fox News averaged 2.98 million viewers in prime time, with CNN averaging 2.05 million, and MSNBC seeing an average of 2.18 million viewers.

Critics of Fox News have excoriated the network after they called the state of Arizona for former Vice President Joe Biden on election night while most other outlets were saying the results were too close to call. The state has since been called for Biden by the mainstream news outlets.

President Trump has also turned on the cable news network and has been criticizing Fox News in favor of some of its lesser known competitors. In one instance, he appeared to refer to himself as the "Golden Goose" and blamed them for the 2020 election.

"Very sad to watch this happen, but they forgot what made them successful, what got them there. They forgot the Golden Goose," the president tweeted.

"The biggest difference between the 2016 Election, and 2020, was @FoxNews!" he added.

In another missive sent out in March, the president accused Fox News of not doing enough to get him and other Republicans re-elected.

Some viewers have posted on social media that they are actively seeking alternative sources of news, including the YouTube channel of BlazeTV host Steven Crowder.
