X signs Don Lemon, Tulsi Gabbard, and more to content deals for exclusive shows

Elon Musk's platform X announced that it has partnered with three different personalities to develop shows exclusively for the platform in an ever-increasing attempt to become a video-hosting leader on social media.

X stated in a blog post that it considered itself a "video-first platform," Reuters said, with users watching videos in 80% of their sessions.

The platform is certainly moving in that direction with the announcement of at least three new shows.

First, X announced a partnership for a documentary-style series with politician Tulsi Gabbard.

"The Army Reserve officer and veteran, 4-term congresswoman, and 2020 presidential candidate will be sharing her unique POV through an exclusive series of documentary style videos and broader content on X," the platform announced.

The former congresswoman is a defector of sorts from the Democratic Party and spoke out against the regime when Hillary Clinton labeled her a "Russian asset."

Welcome to X!\n@donlemon @TulsiGabbard @jimrome
— (@)

Just 15 minutes after the first announcement, X told followers that sports commentator Jim Rome "will be bringing his wildly popular content to digital video, for the first time ever."

A sports broadcaster since the late 1980s, Rome has been a controversial figure in the sports world for his uncensored opinions and stubborn attitude. Perhaps most famously, Rome had an altercation with an NFL quarterback on his show in 1994.

Quarterback Jim Everett took offence at Rome comparing him to a female tennis player and flipped the table and pushed Rome over.

30 minutes after the initial Gabbard announcement, X then dropped news that former CNN anchor Don Lemon would also be hosting an exclusive show.

"We’re delighted to announce a new content partnership with Don Lemon for his new project, The Don Lemon Show," the platform stated. "The award winning TV journalist will share his unique and honest voice in 30 minute episodes, three times a week, covering politics, culture, sports and entertainment."

Lemon worked for CNN for approximately 13 years before he was fired abruptly in 2023. The host's commentary was arguably becoming too risqué for CNN, particularly when he drew criticism for stating that presidential candidate Nikki Haley "isn’t in her prime."

Don Lemon: "Nikki Haley isn\xe2\x80\x99t in her prime. Sorry, when a woman is considered to be in her prime in her 20s, and 30s, and maybe 40s\xe2\x80\xa6"\n\nPoppy Harlow: "Are you talking about prime for like child bearing?"\n\n"Don\xe2\x80\x99t shoot the messenger! I\xe2\x80\x99m just saying what the facts are! Google it!"

Out of the running? Biden admin interested in recruiting failed Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe

Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe lost to Republican Glenn Youngkin during Virginia's gubernatorial election contest last week, but according to Punchbowl News, the Biden administration has interest in finding a role for the failed Democratic candidate.

"The Biden administration is interested in finding a spot somewhere for Terry McAuliffe according to multiple high-level sources familiar with the White House's thinking," Punchbowl News reported. "All Cabinet spots are full, for now. And McAuliffe isn't asking for a job; this seems to be the administration trying to find a place where McAuliffe can serve."

Commenting on the Punchbowl News report, FNC Contributor Joe Concha tweeted, "Given how utterly tone-deaf this administration is, this is par for the course."

McAuliffe, who previously served as governor from early 2014 until early 2018, fell short in his bid to return to the Virginia governor's mansion.

"Congratulations to Governor-Elect Glenn Youngkin on his victory. I hope Virginians will join me in wishing the best to him and his family," McAuliffe said in a statement last week.

The former governor's defeat occurred after Joe Biden won Virginia by about 10 points during the 2020 presidential contest.

Biden, who has been facing low approval ratings, backed McAuliffe during the Virginia gubernatorial election.

Former U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, a Democrat from Hawaii, hailed McAuliffe's defeat as a win for all Americans.

"McAuliffe's loss is a victory for all Americans. Why? Because it was a resounding rejection of efforts to divide us by race, the stripping of parental rights, and arrogant, deaf leaders. This benefits us all," she tweeted.

Democrat Tulsi Gabbard celebrates McAuliffe's loss, says big Republican win in Virginia is a 'victory for all Americans'

Former Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard celebrated Republican Glenn Youngkin's victory over Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe in the Virginia gubernatorial election. Gabbard — a 2020 Democratic presidential candidate — stated that the Republican candidate winning Virginia was a benefit to all Americans.

Gabbard said Wednesday, "McAuliffe's loss is a victory for all Americans. Why? Because it was a resounding rejection of efforts to divide us by race, the stripping of parental rights, and arrogant, deaf leaders. This benefits us all."

This is the latest instance of Gabbard slamming members of her own party. Last week, the former lawmaker from Hawaii bashed the Biden administration for starting a legal appeal to reverse a U.K. judge's decision to not extradite the WikiLeaks founder to the U.S. to face espionage charges.

"The increasingly authoritarian Biden/Garland administration is doubling down on its crusade against our constitutionally protected rights of freedom of speech, assembly, etc. by continuing its vindictive retaliatory crusade against Julian Assange," Gabbard tweeted with the hashtag "FreeAssange." "If they succeed, it will be another nail in the coffin of democracy—in our country and around the world."

In late September, Gabbard attacked President Joe Biden for being "judge, jury, executioner" when he accused Border Patrol agents of abusing migrants — a narrative that was debunked.

"I consider Joe Biden a friend. But he's absolutely wrong and he needs to apologize to the American people for saying what he said," Gabbard said. "Here's why: He's somebody who's been very outspoken as being against autocrats, autocracies, dictators. But what he essentially did was act as judge, jury, and executioner for these Customs and Border Patrol agents on horseback."

"The bigget issue that this points to, which is one that we all need to be concerned about, is that if we are no longer a country of laws, if we are no longer a country where we know we will be presumed innocent unless proven guilty, then we don't have a democracy," Gabbard stated. "And that's the increasing feeling that a lot of us have is we are losing our democracy and moving closer and closer to what essentially is an autocracy."

During a Fox News appearance in early September, Gabbard unloaded on Hillary Clinton for allegedly attacking her for being an "outsider."

"It really points to the fact that we have a situation in our country where the powerful elite, people like Hillary Clinton and those around her — the deep state, the media — they're all colluding to destroy outsiders who they deem as posing a threat to their power," Gabbard said. "So essentially, what they do is they create this dictatorship, those who are outsiders, those who put country first, those who are not afraid to to challenge the establishment, and those who don't toe the line, they do all they can to silence, and censor, and eliminate these outsiders if they indeed pose a threat to their power."

In early October, Gabbard needled Democratic and Republican leaders for the 20 years the United States military was engaged in Afghanistan – the longest war in American history.

"Overall, when we really look at the last twenty years that we spent there, I think there's a few important lessons to take away. Our mission to go into Afghanistan, initially to go after Al-Qaeda, the jihadist terrorists who attacked us on 9/11, declared war against us, was justified. We sent special forces in there who very expeditiously and effectively defeated Al-Qaeda," Gabbard, who served in the Hawaii Army National Guard, stated. "What went wrong after that was when leaders in our country lost sight of that very direct and important mission and instead began to embark on regime change wars and nation building exercises and as we've seen over the last twenty years in Afghanistan specifically, even senior leaders in our government across Democrat and Republican administrations didn't really know what our mission there was."

Tulsi Gabbard demands Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot resign over 'blatant anti-white racism'

Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D) says that Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) should resign after granting interviews only to journalists and reporters of color.

What are the details?

In a strongly worded Friday tweet, Gabbard wrote, "Mayor Lightfoot's blatant anti-white racism is abhorrent. I call upon President Biden, Kamala Harris, and other leaders of our country — of all races — to join me in calling for Mayor Lightfoot's resignation. Our leaders must condemn all racism, including anti-white."

Earlier this week, Lightfoot announced that she would only give interviews to media representatives of color in order to honor the two-year anniversary of her mayoral inauguration.

Despite facing significant backlash, Lightfoot defended her stance, and insisted that people should take a cue from her decision and hire more persons of color across all industries, and particular within the local and national media.

A two-page letter to local media saw Lightfoot double down on the move and complained that area news outlets are disproportionately male and white.

She wrote, "By now, you may have heard the news that on the occasion of the two-year anniversary of my inauguration as Mayor of this great City, I will be exclusively providing one-on-one interviews with journalists of color. As a person of color, I have throughout my adult life done everything that I can to fight for diversity and inclusion in every institution that I have been a part of and being Mayor makes me uniquely situated to shine a spotlight on this most important issue."

Lightfoot asserted that "overwhelming whiteness and maleness" dominates Chicago-area media outlets, editorial boards, and political press corps, and complained that were no female reporters of color covering city hall.

WBEZ-TV, however, dashed the claim and pointed out that two of its three city hall reporters were female reporters with Hispanic and South Asian backgrounds, respectively.

What else?

In April, the former Hawaii congresswoman implored Americans to tamp down on what she said was "racialization" taking hold across the country.

In a widely shared social media post, Gabbard wrote, "My dear friends and fellow Americans, please, please let us stop the RACIALIZATION of everyone and everything — i.e., racialism. We are all children of God and are therefore family in the truest sense, no matter what our race or ethnicity. This is aloha. This is what our country and world need."

In a related video, Gabbard said that "propaganda media" are complicit in sowing hatred and took aim at politicians willing to capitalize on resulting division.

"The mainstream propaganda media and politicians, they want us to constantly focus on our skin color and the skin color of others, because it helps them politically or financially," she said. "'Aloha' means respect and love for others. It's what enables us to see beyond our skin color and see the soul, the person within."

She concluded, "[L]et's do our best to cultivate this aloha in our hearts, and see and treat others through this prism of love, not through the prism of race and ethnicity. Please let us not allow ourselves to be led down this dark and divisive path of racialism and hate."

Tulsi Gabbard flattens Netflix in scathing rebuke over 'Cuties': 'Netflix, you are now complicit' in child sex trafficking

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) says Netflix is complicit in child sex trafficking as the distributor of French award-winning film, "Cuties."

What's a brief history here?

The streaming giant is under fire after releasing the film, which many say is nothing short of pedophilia.

In a statement to TheBlaze, a Netflix spokesperson said that people who care about stomping out child sexualization should watch the film.

"Cuties is a social commentary against the sexualization of young children," the spokesperson told TheBlaze on Friday. "It's an award winning film and a powerful story about the pressure young girls face on social media and from society more generally growing up — and we'd encourage anyone who cares about these important issues to watch the movie."

You can read more about the highly controversial film offering here.

What are the details?

Gabbard — former Democratic presidential candidate and combat veteran — writes, "[C]hild porn 'Cuties' will certainly whet the appetite of pedophiles & help fuel the child sex trafficking trade. 1 in 4 victims of trafficking are children. It happened to my friend's 13 year old daughter. Netflix, you are now complicit."

Gabbard closed the tweet with the now-viral hashtag, #CancelNetflix.

Her tweet, less than 12 hours old at the time of this reporting, has received more than 121,000 likes.

Elsewhere in the lengthy thread, Gabbard said that she put her money where her mouth is and cancelled Netflix.

At the time of this reporting, at least 623,000 people have signed a petition encouraging others to cancel Netflix amid the controversy.

A contrary viewpoint

In response to Gabbard's widely liked tweet, Dr. Eugene Gu, CEO and founder of CoolQuit — who boasts more than 500,000 Twitter followers — fired back, "The film Cuties is a social commentary AGAINST child sexualization and exploitation. But social media and the mainstream media is all about Puritanical false accusations because this is America, and this is how we roll."
