Bill Gates and Mastercard are testing vaccine passports in Africa. Is the US next?

The Bill Gates-backed Gavi, also known as the Vaccine Alliance, Mastercard, and NGOs in the fintech space have been trialing a digital vaccine passport in Africa called the Wellness Pass. Africa has long been a testing ground for Big Pharma to test drugs and programs far from the prying eyes of journalists and regulators.

This passport, touted as a handy way to track patients in “underserved communities” across “multiple touchpoints,” is part of a grouping of consumer-facing Mastercard products aimed ostensibly at roping people into a cashless digital ID system that simultaneously automates compliance with prescribed pharmaceutical regimens and fosters dependency on at least one ideologically captive non-governmental entity.

Gavi, the leading partner and “catalyst” for the initiative, and Mastercard, “acting in the capacity of technology partner,” rolled out pilots of the Wellness Pass in Mauritania and Ethiopia under the banner of “efficiently delivering vaccines to millions of children, tracking identity and immunization records in a digitized manner and incentivizing the delivery of vaccines.”

Gavi, originally the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, has historically provided children in the third world with non-mRNA vaccinations. But its reputation and reach in relatively unregulated regions — where it has worked in recent years to limit big pharmaceutical companies’ financial risk regarding COVID-19 vaccine injuries — are now being exploited to provide cover for experimentation by Western technocrats and corporate giants.

Brazen efforts to exploit the COVID-19 pandemic in pursuit of greater power and a “new normal” have sadly cast doubt on purportedly altruistic endeavors such as this, already suspect in a region long used by pharmaceutical companies and other outfits as a sandbox for treacherous experiments.

Bill Gates’ apparent keenness to usher in a future where digital passport stamps attesting to dutiful acceptance of vaccines — including those of the kind he’s hawkish on developing in Africa — has increased suspicions that the initiative is a foretaste of efforts stateside to curb God-given freedoms.

Besides pledging more than $1.8 billion to Gavi between 2021 and June of this year, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has bankrolled other similar efforts.

For instance, the foundation helped fund the World Health Organization’s 2021 “Digital Documentation of COVID-19 Certificates: Vaccination Status” guidance, which discussed the deployment of a vaccine passport “solution to address the immediate needs of the pandemic but also to build digital health infrastructure that can be a foundation for digital vaccination certificates beyond COVID-19.” It’s worth noting that the Gates Foundation provides the WHO with nearly as much financing as the U.S. government yearly.

The Gates Foundation also recently funded research into biocompatible near-infrared quantum dots indicating vaccination status, applied to the skin with microneedles. One needn’t be a biblical scholar to draw a parallel with the mark of the beast.

Despite its potentially nefarious applications, the Wellness Pass is thankfully not another Gates tattoo. Instead, more in line with the passport discussed in the WHO guidance, it is a chip card that stores a patient’s vaccine history offline.

According to Gavi, the pass, which appears to have outlived IBM’s Digital Health Pass and has the potential to give the World Economic Forum’s CommonPass app a run for its money, ensures that “vaccination records are available at any time through participating health facilities, regardless of connectivity, and utilizes tokenized biometrics when accepted, or alternatively a pin, to verify service delivery and adhere to vaccination cycles.”

The card is reportedly linked to a phone number so that jab appointment reminders can be sent.

During the pandemic, both in blue states and increasingly unfree Anglo nations like Australia and Canada, we saw vaccine receipts and QR codes become necessary to travel and use various facilities.

On the one hand, Gavi and the world’s second-largest payment processing corporation are working to ensure human test subjects are up to date on their vaccines. On the other hand, Africans appear to be unwittingly helping them beta-test improved biometric systems of control for potential deployment farther afield.

Already, bit players involved in the project have made the logical progression from the Sahara to the States. For instance, the AI-powered biometric company Trust Stamp helped incorporate its digital identification tech into the Wellness Pass system early on, then turned its focus stateside, developing applications for the American prison industry.

Gareth Genner, co-founder of Trust Stamp, said something revealing in a 2020 interview with Mastercard. Genner suggested that the hope for this technology was that “anyone in the world can say, ‘This is who I am and these are what my needs are.’”

The Wellness Pass similarly conveys identifying information and needs through what it does not say: This is what I am not; ergo these are what needs I can be denied.

During the pandemic, both in blue states and increasingly unfree Anglo nations like Australia and Canada, we saw vaccine receipts and QR codes become necessary to travel and use various facilities. Those without these prototypic vaccine passports often saw their liberties and horizons drastically limited.

An Americanized Wellness Pass, even if adopted with the pseudo-anonymized hash system used in Africa, would grant authorities similar limiting potential as before, along with a far better sense of where there were pockets of dissent, where they had to propagandize, and where there were arms yet unjabbed.

Besides helping to further shape behavior, flush out vaccine resistance, and medicalize society, such an infrastructure as Mastercard provides could lay the groundwork for the kinds of digital credentialing systems Americans have been otherwise resistive to.

Alisdair Haythornthwaite, senior vice president of thought leadership and policy communications at Mastercard, told USA Today in 2020, “There is nothing about this solution that means someone who doesn’t get vaccinated won’t get money or food.”

Sure, that might have been true of Wellness Pass as deployed in Mauritania, but time will tell what Western systems informed by these African pilot programs might ultimately accomplish in the way of prohibitions in the name of public health, climate correction, countering extremism, and so forth.

Forgive my skepticism about the beneficence of behemothic corporations, but it’s not hard to imagine soon being required to produce a Wellness Pass simply to pass go.

Special Olympics drops vaccine mandate after Florida threatens $27.5 million fine

The Special Olympics on Thursday reversed its vaccine requirement for upcoming games in Orlando, Florida, this weekend after receiving pressure from Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis' administration.

ABC News reporter Jay O'Brien revealed Friday that the state of Florida threatened the Special Olympics with a $27.5 million fine because it said the organization's vaccine requirement violated state law.

“Florida said the vaccine rule conflicted with state law, and disqualified Special Olympics athletes from competing based on their vaccine status.

State said they heard from athletes and families of athletes who complained.

Here’s the letter the state sent. 2/3”
— Jay O'Brien (@Jay O'Brien) 1654263402

O'Brien shared a letter the Florida Department of Health sent to the Special Olympics International on June 2 giving notice of the fine. The Special Olympics "required proof certifying COVID-19 vaccination from 5,500 individuals to gain access to entry upon, and/or services from the 2022 USA Special Olympics Games, in violation of Florida law," the letter stated.

DOH said that Florida law "prohibits a business entity, which includes a charitable organization, from requiring any patron or customer to provide documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccination or post-infection recovery to gain access to, entry upon, or service from the business entity." The state government imposed a fine of $5,000 against the Special Olympics for each individual or separate violation.

On Thursday, the organization announced it is "lifting the vaccine requirement for delegation members attending the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games being held in Orlando, Florida, June 5-12, as demanded by the state of Florida officials."

"We don't want to fight. We want to play," the charity said.

In April 2021, DeSantis signed an executive order banning so-called "vaccine passports" in the state of Florida. One month later, the state legislature passed a bill that the governor signed into law prohibiting businesses and governments from requiring proof of vaccination and imposing fines for each violation.

At a press conference Friday, DeSantis reiterated his opposition to vaccine mandates or passports and said Florida's rejection of those policies has led to a boom in tourism and economic growth in the state.

"Your rights or your freedoms should not be circumscribed by your decision to take or not to take a COVID vaccine," DeSantis said, according to WFTX-TV. "That was inappropriate. At the end of the day, our view was there has to be choice in this regard."

He also praised the Special Olympics' decision to comply with Florida law.

"This will be a relief to a lot of the athletes," DeSantis said. "There's a significant number of them who were in limbo up until this week."

DeSantis has won praise among his supporters and fierce condemnation from his critics for his willingness to use the government's power to go after businesses that challenge his policies.

Earlier this year, the governor supported an effort by the state legislature to strip the Walt Disney World Resort of its special tax status because of Disney's opposition to Florida's Parental Rights in Education law. On Thursday, DeSantis vetoed $35 million in state funding for new baseball practice facility for the Tampa Bay Rays seemingly in response to the MLB organization advocated for gun control on social media.

NYC ends vaccine passport and mask mandates — except for children younger than 5

Vaccine passport and masking requirements in New York City will be lifted on Monday, Mayor Eric Adams announced Friday, including the city's school mask mandate and vaccination requirements for restaurants, entertainment venues, and other public indoor spaces.

The mayor made the announcement in Times Square, telling New York residents that while the coronavirus pandemic is not over, it is now safe enough to suspend the heavy restrictions enacted over the past two years.

"We're far from out of the woods," Adams said. "COVID is still here. But we are beating it back."

"Proof of vaccination will no longer be required for indoor venues like restaurants, bars, gyms, and entertainment venues, but business owners may voluntarily ask customers for proof of vaccination if they choose too," the mayor announced, declaring suspension of the Key2NYC program.

"Schools have remained among the safest places in the city throughout this pandemic, with record low numbers of infections. Beginning Monday, March 7, the indoor mask mandate will be removed for @NYCSChools K-12," he said.

The mayor's announcement follows the release of a study by epidemiologists at Yale University that estimated New York's COVID-19 vaccination campaign has prevented 48,000 deaths, 300,000 hospitalizations, and 1.9 million cases, the city health department said.

"COVID-19 vaccines have saved so many lives and prevented an immense amount of suffering," Health Commissioner Dr. Dave Chokshi said, according to WABC-TV. "Nearly 48,000 New Yorkers will celebrate another birthday this year due to the power of vaccination."

New York will leave some pandemic restrictions for young children in place. Mask mandates for children younger than age 5 will not be lifted because these children are not eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.

"Masks will continue to be required for all settings with children under 5 years of age, including programs contracted by the New York City Department of Education with 3- and 4-year-old children as well as 3K and 4K classrooms in district schools," the mayor said.

Additionally, today we're announcing a new color coded system for our current #COVID19 alert level. As of today, we're at a low-alert level. Follow @NYCHealthy for more information:https://twitter.com/nychealthy/status/1499772972017532930 …

"When you looked at those under 5, they were more likely to be hospitalized," Adams said. "People wanted to say let's lift it across the board. But that's not what the science is telling us."

Children under age 5 are at an extremely low risk of COVID-19 mortality. According to CDC data, a total of 307 children have been recorded with "COVID-related" deaths since the pandemic began two years ago, out of approximately 20 million children in the U.S. between ages 0-4. Studies have found deaths from COVID-19 among children to be "incredibly rare."

COVID-19 vaccine mandates will also remain in effect, the mayor announced. Employees are still required to be vaccinated unless they have received a reasonable accommodation from their employer.

Boris Johnson ends England's COVID restrictions, including mask mandates and vaccine passports, amid scandal

England will end its mandatory face masking and COVID-19 vaccine passport requirements on Thursday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced to applause from Parliament.

Speaking in the House of Commons Wednesday, Johnson said scientists believe the wave of coronavirus cases caused by the Omicron variant had peaked nationally and as such the country would revert to its "Plan A" response to the virus, according to the BBC.

The end of "Plan B" lifts many coronavirus restrictions Johnson imposed on England. The prime minister said that beginning Thursday, COVID passports for entering nightclubs and large events would no longer be required, though private venues can continue to use them if they wish. People will no longer be advised to work from home, and employers may coordinate a return to offices.

Face masks will no longer be mandated in England, though the government is encouraging people to wear coverings in enclosed or crowded spaces or when meeting strangers, Johnson said. And starting Thursday, schoolchildren will no longer have to wear face masks in classrooms.

The prime minister cited data from a coronavirus infection study by the Office for National Statistics in his announcement that shows infections are falling in England and hospitalizations have stabilized.

"We will trust the judgement of the English people," Johnson said. "We are the first to emerge from the Omicron wave.

There were loud cheers in Parliament after Johnson finished making these announcements.

"This is a moment we can all be proud of," Health Secretary Sajid Javid said at a press conference. "It is a reminder of what this country can accomplish when we all work together."

U.K. health officials warned that the SARS-CoV-2 virus is not eradicated and that future variants will lead to surges of viral infections. But the nation will respond to COVID as an endemic virus, rather than a pandemic.

"We must learn to live with COVID in the same way we live with the flu," Javid said.

The change in coronavirus policy comes as many British lawmakers are calling for Johnson's resignation, following reports of parties and other supposedly prohibited gatherings at the prime minister's residence during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Labour leaders opposed to Johnson have accused him of hypocritically flouting coronavirus restrictions with "industrial scale partying." Members of Johnson's own party are also fed up with him, with prominent Conservative lawmaker and former Brexit secretary David Davis telling Johnson Wednesday, "In the name of God, go."

Johnson admitted to Parliament last week that he had attended a gathering with alcoholic drinks at the prime minister's office at Downing Street in May 2020 but said he believed it was a "work event."

But public backlash to Johnson's excuse has led a number of Conservative Party lawmakers to call for his resignation, fearing that the prime minister has lost the trust of voters and will be unable to lead the party in future elections.

Video shows vaccine mandate protesters stage sit-in at popular Times Square restaurant: 'They arrested me for trying to eat at Olive Garden'

People protesting New York City's restrictive vaccine mandate staged a protest at the popular Olive Garden restaurant in Times Square on Friday night. Several protesters were arrested following the boisterous demonstration.

A group of New Yorkers launched a protest at the Olive Garden to show their disdain for the city's vaccine mandate that requires people ages 5 to 12 to show proof they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and people 12 and older to show proof of two doses of the coronavirus vaccine.

Video shows the protesters — who refused to provide the restaurant with verification that they had received the COVID-19 vaccine — gathered in the Olive Garden restaurant.

"Victorious, we shut them down," a demonstrator boasts as employees of the restaurant refuse to serve the unmasked protesters.

"Take off your mask, free your face," another protester tells employees of the restaurant. "Stand up to your bosses."

The protesters chanted "U-S-A!" and sang "The Star-Spangled Banner."

Oliya Scootercaster of Freedom News TV reported that the restaurant closed after the protesters were there for two hours. The protest was over by 10:40 p.m., but the restaurant allegedly shut down before its usual Friday closing time of 1 a.m.

New York Police Department officers were summoned to the restaurant, and most of the demonstrators dispersed.

Video from independent photojournalist Leeroy Johnson shows protesters being escorted out in handcuffs by NYPD officers.

"I got arrested. They arrested me for trying to eat at Olive Garden, that’s what happened," a protester said.

While being taken away by police, a protester shouts, "This is the Civil Rights movement again!"

Another demonstrator screamed, "Wake up New York! Wake the f*** up!"

Some onlookers applauded the protesters and called them "heroes."

Four protesters were arrested after refusing to leave the restaurant, according to the New York Post. "Three men and a woman were expected to be charged with trespassing, according to officials," the outlet reported. There were no reports of vandalism, according to Fox News.

There have been similar anti-vaccine passport protests at restaurants in New York City, including at Carmine's in the Upper West Side, Cheesecake Factory in Queens, and a Burger King in Brooklyn.

Dave Rubin vows not to tour at venues with vaccine or mask mandates: 'I'm not playing this evil game'

Dave Rubin has vowed not to tour at venues with vaccine or mask mandates, even though it would financially hurt the promotion of his upcoming book "Don't Burn This Country: Surviving and Thriving in Our Woke Dystopia."

"As long as I’m on a Covid kick this morning I should also mention that I have informed my agents I will not be touring my book in any theaters which require vaccine ID or masks," Rubin declared on Twitter. "This will eliminate dozens of stops and cost me a bunch of money but I’m not playing this evil game."

Rubin's announcement to not make appearances at locations enforcing mask mandates and vaccine passports stemmed from a response to a video clip posted to Twitter featuring a CNN medical guest and ethics "expert" calling for unvaccinated Americans to be punished.

"I'm not vaccinated," Rubin revealed. "I got Covid a few weeks ago. Got monoclonal, took Ivermectin, Advil and drank lots of water. Better in a few days. Vaccinated people get and spread Covid. Fact. These people are deranged psychopaths. Ignore them and live your life."

Rubin tagged the tweet: "*Sent from Florida."

Rubin announced in December that he was moving from California to Florida in a tweet that tagged California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.

"Personal thanks to @GavinNewsom as I am officially leaving the dystopian nightmare of California for the free state of Florida," the BlazeTV personality exclaimed. "My successful business and all my employees are coming with. See you soon, @GovRonDeSantis!"

Since moving to Florida, Rubin has expressed his "love" for the Sunshine State. "The Rubin Report" host has also highlighted the draconian COVID-19 pandemic restrictions that are still being enforced in California, including a new order from the Los Angeles Department of Public Health.

As cases continue to surge as a result of the increased circulation of the highly transmissible Omicron variant, Public Health has modified its Health Officer Order to include additional safety measures to reduce transmission risks knowing that vaccinations alone are not sufficient to prevent spread of Omicron. As soon as possible, but no later than January 17th, employers are required to provide their employees who work indoors in close contact with others with well-fitting medical grade masks, surgical masks, or higher-level respirators, such as N95 or KN95 masks. These upgraded masks are better at blocking virus particles from going through the mask.
