Celebrity Valerie Bertinelli claims that 'a woman's right to her own body autonomy has been eliminated by the Supreme Court'

Celebrity Valerie Bertinelli has claimed that the U.S. Supreme Court nixed women's rights to bodily autonomy.

"I know we’re all wondering why Trump is in DC, but did you know that a woman’s right to her own body autonomy has been eliminated by the Supreme Court? #VoteBlueToSaveDemocracy" Bertinelli tweeted.

Earlier this year, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, though the high court's decision did not prohibit states from continuing to allow abortions.

"The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives," the opinion stated.

People on social media pushed back against Berninelli's claims.

"If you are discussing abortion, as opposed to say mandatory vaccinations, it is not a woman's 'own body' of concern but the body of another human," tweeted the Federalist senior legal correspondent Margot Cleveland.

"The irony of this hashtag is funny. Roe v Wade was literally by definition anti-democratic," Brad Polumbo tweeted.

"Not true. There is NO CONSTITUTIONAL reference to 'Abortion' They rightly decided this was a state issue. They rightly put it back to where it was before. Maybe people will recognize the health of the female babies and their rights to live...as well as male babies," Dave Weinbaum tweeted.

"Not true. Kicked back to the states per the Constitution. This is dishonest and uninformed," Buzz Patterson tweeted.

Earlier this year when billionaire business tycoon Elon Musk tweeted that "today's Democratic Party has been hijacked by extremists," Bertinelli suggested that Musk had been brainwashed.

"I don’t know who or what’s been brainwashing you but wake up and think for yourself," Bertinelli wrote in response to Musk.

Vice President Kamala Harris has accused the Supreme Court of being "an activist court." The vice president told "Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd, "we had an establish right for almost half a century, which is the right of women to make decisions about their own body, as an extension of what we have decided to be the privacy rights to which all people are entitled, and this court took that constitutional right away. And we are suffering as a nation because of it. That causes me great concern about the integrity of the court overall," Harris noted.

'Total devastation': Home explodes in Evansville, Indiana, killing 3 and mangling neighborhood

Authorities do not yet know what caused the massive explosion that rocked the center of Evansville, Indiana, on the 1000 block of North Weinbach Avenue around 12:58 p.m. on Wednesday, but it was fatal all the same. Three are dead. One was hospitalized after the blast.

According to a statement made by Evansville Police Department spokesman Sgt. Anna Gray, two of the victims are believed to have been in the house that exploded, while the third victim was in a neighboring house.

The names of the deceased are being withheld until their families can be properly notified.

"Calling it thunder would be like an understatement," Max Walter told WHAS11. Walter, who was working nearby, indicated that the explosion shook the building he was in and caused the windows to buckle. When he went outside to see what had happened, "there was insulation and debris falling on us like snow."

The blast sent debris 100 feet in every direction.

The Evansville Fire Department resumed the search for other potential victims several hours after the blast and once the ATF had completed its blast analysis. According to EFD Fire Chief Mike Connelly, "there could be other victims."

Investigators found that a total of 39 houses were damaged by the explosion. Connelly noted that 11 are now "uninhabitable."

Vincent Taylor, a roofer who had been working nearby, told WFIE: "Total devastation. ... A lot of people lost everything down here. Their houses are totally gone."

The Courier & Press reported that of the three houses obliterated by the blast — 1010, 1008, and 1012 N. Weinbach Ave. — two were rental properties.

When asked whether the cause of the explosion was a gas leak, Connelly told reporters: "We don't know the cause."

EPD announced late Wednesday that N. Weinbach Ave. would be shut down for the foreseeable future. Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke indicated that the Evansville Red Cross was supporting first responders at the scene and was ready to support sheltering if needed. EPD specified that displaced residents could find resources at Vogel Elementary School.

'Over two dozen' FBI agents conduct 'court-authorized' search of Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar's home and campaign office

FBI agents conducted a search of the home and campaign office of Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas on Wednesday. The office of Cuellar — who has been an outspoken critic of President Joe Biden's immigration policies — said the congressman would cooperate with authorities.

"Federal vehicles were seen with cases and other items taken from the congressman’s house as over two dozen agents filed in and out of the residence Wednesday afternoon," Texas news site myrgv.com reported. "Some activity was also observed outside the campaign office on Davis and Washington Ave. in the afternoon hours."

Reporter Valerie Gonzalez with the McAllen-based newspaper the Monitor was at the Democratic representative's house when the FBI agents conducted their search.

"By around 7:30 p.m., a group of agents loaded large bags, plastic bins, and a computer into a federal vehicle. Others appeared to be logging the items," Gonzalez reported.

"Federal agents were also at the campaign HQ office this afternoon," Gonzalez wrote on Twitter. "It wasn’t included in the FBI statement, but two of the vehicles seen there at 4:20 pm later showed up at the residence. An agent wearing an FBI jacket climbed out of one."

FBI spokesperson Roseanne Hughes did not reveal the nature of the investigation but acknowledged that there was "court-authorized law enforcement activity."

“The FBI was present in the vicinity of Windridge Drive and Estate Drive in Laredo conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity,” a statement from the agency said. “The FBI cannot provide further comment on an ongoing investigation.”

Cuellar's office issued a statement that said, "Congressman Cuellar will fully cooperate in any investigation. He is committed to ensuring that justice and the law are upheld."

Cuellar has served in the House for Texas' 28th Congressional District, which is on the outskirts of San Antonio and stretches to the U.S.-Mexico border, since 2005. The district includes the cities of Laredo, Mission, and Rio Grande City.

He has been one of the most vocal critics of President Biden's immigration policies. Previously, the lawmaker has said Biden's southern border policy is "just a honor system that they are given and this is not the way it's supposed to be."

Cuellar slammed the Biden administration in March: "You just can't say, 'Yeah, yeah, let everybody in' — because then we're affected down there at the border."

He also accused the Biden administration of playing a "shell game" with the unaccompanied minors apprehended at the southern border.

In June, the moderate Democratic congressman called on the Biden administration to send help to deal with the surge in COVID-19 cases in border communities and Border Patrol agents.

Even after bodycam video shows Columbus teen was attempting stab someone when police shot her, liberals continue to insist the officer acted improperly

Tuesday night, the family of a Columbus, Ohio teenager claimed that police shot her without provocation or justification. In order to forestall any potential civil unrest, Columbus police promptly released bodycam footage showing that, in fact, the girl was attempting to stab two different people at the time she was shot, and that officers repeatedly gave her verbal warnings to get down before firing shots.

The still frame video from just seconds before the shooting demonstrates that she was literally in the process of attempting to stab someone when police shot her.

You might have thought that this would have ended the ruckus over this particular incident, and that everyone would have acknowledged that it is of course appropriate for officers to use lethal force to prevent someone from being stabbed to death right in front of them.

Unfortunately, you would have been wrong.

A number of prominent liberals took to social media on Wednesday, even after the body camera footage was released, and claimed that either the officer was at fault, or that his actions were evidence of a broken policing system. For instance, the official Twitter account for the national American Civil Liberties Union tweeted, "We'll say it again — a system that kills children with impunity cannot be reformed." The ACLU's tweet did not have any thoughts for the child who could have been killed if the cop had not intervened.

When asked to comment on the shooting, rather than acknowledging that the shooting was in any way justified, the White House's statement treated this incident as an example of "police violence" that "disproportionately impacts black and Latino people and communities[.]"

The White House's statement did not mention the black teenager whose life might have ended if the police had not acted.

While some liberals may have just been working from bad or incomplete information, having taken the family's initial word that the shooting was unprovoked, some actually went a step farther and seriously suggested that attempting to stab someone is no big deal and not something police should shoot anyone for.

Prominent liberal activist Bree Newsome tweeted, "Teenagers have been having fights including fights involving knives for eons. We do not need police to address these situations by showing up to the scene & using a weapon against one of the teenagers. Y'all need help. I mean that sincerely." She then followed that hot take up with, "Everyone should be frightened that the ruling white elite have done such a thoroughly successful job of not only disconnecting us from the means of basic self-sufficiency but also convincing us we need armed white officers to manage our children & communities. Frightening."

Apparently, it is more frightening to some that police would stop one person from stabbing another person than it would be for a person to get stabbed.

Former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett also entered the fray, conceding that the officer COULD have stopped one person from stabbing another person, but not that he SHOULD have.

From the video, it is clear that the officer far enough away that he could not have physically reached out and made any kind of physical contact with the attacker at the moment he fired his gun, so it is a mystery what "minimum force" would have resolved this situation without someone ending up getting stabbed.
