Planned Parenthood performs at least 2 medical abortions, sees up to 30 patients at mobile clinic near DNC

Dozens of patients took advantage of the mobile Planned Parenthood clinic set up near the Democratic National Convention and underwent anti-life medical interventions, including abortions and vasectomies.

On Monday and Tuesday, Planned Parenthood Great Rivers — which normally sees patients in Missouri and southern Illinois — opened a mobile clinic in the West Loop of Chicago, just a few blocks from the United Center, which is currently hosting the DNC, as Blaze News previously reported.

'We know that the services that we provide bring out folks who are in opposition.'

Now, reports indicate that anywhere between 20 and 30 people total visited the clinic while it was open this week. Of those patients, at least 10 underwent a vasectomy, and at least two received medication to kill their unborn children, Politico reported.

Blaze News reached out to Planned Parenthood to confirm the total number of medical abortions given by the clinic this week but did not receive a response.

Those women who received abortion-inducing medication from the mobile clinic could take them on site or at home to comply with Illinois law, NPR reported, citing Dr. Colleen McNicholas, the chief medical officer at Planned Parenthood Great Rivers who performed services at the pop-up abortion center.

"We're just really excited to provide the opportunity for the thousands of folks who are coming to Illinois to demonstrate for them that it is possible to start closing some healthcare gaps for folks," McNicholas said.

Luis Ayala was among the "folks" at the clinic this week. The 28-year-old husband and father of three described the vasectomy he received as "a little uncomfortable."

"I have three kids and pretty much I wanted to stop having kids," Ayala explained to NPR.

Ayala's wife, Fabiola, supported the decision. "I’m ready to remove my birth control and just get off the hormones," she said.

Ayala signed up to visit the mobile clinic after Fabiola spotted an ad about the "free" services offered at the clinic, and a post to the Planned Parenthood facility's X account did promote "FREE vasectomies & medication abortion" as well as free emergency contraception. However, whether all of the patients who visited the clinic this week received free services is unclear.

Some pro-life protesters also gathered near the clinic, which was surrounded by a fence, and chanted, "Abortion is genocide," perhaps borrowing a phrase from other protesters in the area who alluded to "genocide" in Gaza.

McNicholas claimed she's "used to" the chants of pro-life activists. "We know that the services that we provide bring out folks who are in opposition," she told NPR.

"But the truth is healthcare shouldn’t be politicized."

McNicholas did not explain how killing unborn children or preventing healthy reproductive organs from functioning properly are forms of "healthcare."

In a statement to NPR, National Right to Life President Carol Tobias described the pop-up abortion center near the DNC as "disgusting" but "not surprising."

Kamala Harris and running mate Tim Walz have focused heavily on abortion for a while now, even before Harris tapped Walz to join her at the top of the Democratic ticket earlier this month. Back in March, they toured a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Minnesota together, marking the first time a sitting president or vice president has visited an abortion clinic.

"My role is to do what I just did, which is to articulate exactly these points and to continue to articulate them and to organize folks around what I know is an issue that is impacting more people than you ever really know," Harris helpfully explained to the clinic staff during her visit.

Free abortions, vasectomies offered near DNC, thanks to Planned Parenthood facility

Those planning to attend the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week will have the opportunity to undergo a vasectomy or even a medication abortion, perhaps at no cost.

Last Wednesday, Planned Parenthood Great Rivers bragged on social media that it would establish a pop-up "mobile health clinic" in the West Loop of Chicago, just a few blocks from the United Center. The clinic will offer services such as abortions, vasectomies, and emergency contraception to those in the area on Monday and Tuesday.

'There’s a direct through line between what Donald Trump did and loss of access to abortion care.'

"Here we come, Chicago! Our mobile health clinic will be in the West Loop with @ChiAbortionFund & @TheWienerCircle Aug 19-20, providing FREE vasectomies & medication abortion. [Emergency contraception] will also be available for free without an appointment," said an X account for the Planned Parenthood facility, which offers services in Missouri and Southern Illinois.

Medication abortion will be available both Monday and Tuesday, while vasectomies will be available only on Tuesday, according to the New York Times. Vasectomies are in particularly high demand, the Times added, claiming last Friday that there was already a "waiting list."

The tweet from Planned Parenthood Great Rivers included a link for booking an appointment, but as of early Monday afternoon, that link indicates that all appointments for "free" vasectomies and medication abortions have already been "filled."

A previous version of the appointment form notified users that the facility offers services "on a sliding-fee scale — pay what you can and get the health care you need," according to the New York Post.

"There are going to be people traveling to Chicago from all over the country," Dr. Colleen McNicholas, the chief medical officer of Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, told the Times. "And I think we should be doing what we can as health care providers to show what the impact of good policy and bad policy is."

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), who co-chairs the Pro-Choice Caucus in the House, was similarly effusive that abortion and other anti-reproductive services, including vasectomies and contraception, will play such a central role at this year's convention.

"This is one of those moments where we see the results of this marathon being fought by so many," Lee told the Times. "We have a long way to go, but it’s a seminal moment, it’s a defining moment, and it’s part of the trajectory."

In addition to the pop-up center provided by Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, Americans for Contraception plans to erect a giant, inflatable intrauterine device named Freeda Womb at or near the DNC.

The Times described these efforts by Planned Parenthood and Americans for Contraception as part of "a head-on display of a new, unbridled abortion politics" at the Democratic convention.

"There’s a direct through line between what Donald Trump did and loss of access to abortion care," said Sen. Tina Smith (D-Minn.), who previously worked for Planned Parenthood, according to the Times. "That’s one of the reasons why people are seeing this in a kind of completely different frame than they were even just four years ago."

OB-GYN Fact-Checks New York Times ‘Sex Ed’ Quiz, Finds Numerous Errors

The New York Times published a 'Sex Ed' quiz on 'key concepts every person should know in a post-Roe era' that misinforms readers.

'Up 900%': Roe reversal sends young men rushing to get vasectomies

Now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade, the idea of not being able to send their lady friends off to the local abortion clinic has apparently prompted young men to take interest in a permanent form of contraception.

According to the Washington Post, doctors across the country are seeing a huge spike in requests for vasectomies in response to the Supreme Court’s ruling one week ago, and men under the age of 30 feature prominently among those now seeking the procedure.

A Florida urologist told the outlet that he's seen vasectomy requests jump from four or five per day to 12 to 18 per day and that young men who do not have children are seeking vasectomies in greater numbers than before.

In Los Angeles, doctors have reported a “300% to 400%” increase in vasectomy consultations.

A Missouri-based urologist said, "We’re up 900% in people looking to get a vasectomy."

The Cleveland Clinic in Ohio said it usually gets three to four requests a day, but that the number jumped to 90 from Friday to Wednesday.

The Austin Urology Institute in Texas told a local NBC affiliate, "[W]e had over 400 phone calls to our office just this past Friday, with 70 occurring over just the one hour period after Roe v. Wade was passed. We had a record number of bookings for requests for vasectomies."

\u201cWe've seen a significant increase in men contacting us to discuss vasectomies in the wake of recent state and national legislation. Check out Dr. Shaw's interview with @KXAN_News and learn more here: https://t.co/iokLp3cE3S\u201d

A urologist in North Miami said that the demand for vasectomies since last Friday has been "overwhelming." And an Iowa-based urologist reported a “200% to 250%” increase in traffic to his website offering information about vasectomies.

The rush to get vasectomies is just one of the many extreme reactions we've seen since Roe v. Wade was overturned. While many on the left are reacting with outrage, confusion, and fear, pro-life conservatives are finally celebrating a long-awaited win.

BlazeTV host Stu Burguiere said overturning Roe v. Wade was actually the easy part. On a recent episode of "Stu Does America," Stu examined the long road ahead for the pro-life movement and talked about what must be accomplished to rid the planet of the "evil that is abortion" forever. Author Ryan T. Anderson also stopped by to explain the history of abortion and how it has torn society apart in multiple ways.
