Vegas teen previously accused of gleefully mowing down retired police chief in stolen car charged in unrelated stabbing

Jesus Ayala of Las Vegas allegedly went on a murderous rampage with a friend in August — laughing maniacally on camera while running other vehicles off the road in a stolen vehicle, then mowing down 64-year-old retired police chief Andreas Probst.

New criminal charges filed on Jan. 19 indicate this monstrous bloodletting may not have been Ayala's first. Another victim has stepped forward, accusing Ayala of a crime that occurred in June 2023.

"Recently it came to our attention that [Ayala] allegedly was involved in an attempted murder case, a stabbing, so we charged him with crimes resulting in that," Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson told KSNV-TV.

Months ahead of Ayala's alleged August rampage, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department received a report that a stabbing victim whose torso and ear had been slashed multiple times walked into the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada on June 27, reported KVVU-TV.

Hospital records reportedly indicated that the victim, taken to the hospital by his roommate, suffered multiple stab wounds to the face and a stab wound to the back.

The victim told investigators at the time that two males ambushed him with brass knuckles, brutalized him, then left him lying on the ground without robbing him. A bloody knife was later found near the scene of the attack.

The victim later clarified in an interview with police that a male suspect first accused him of stealing something, then five individuals came over and began attacking him.

A witness confirmed to police on June 28 that five individuals ostensibly under the age of 18 participated in an "extremely violent" attack on the victim. The witness added that had the attack continued, the victim would surely have perished.

Ayala was later identified by a witness as one of the "big homies" involved in the savage June attack.

Cellphone records cited by police place Ayala in the area of the attack at the time of the stabbing, reported KSNV.

While the knife found at the scene of the crime reportedly did not come back with a "suitable print match" to Ayala, forthcoming DNA results may alternatively confirm who did the stabbing.

The victim ultimately identified Ayala from a photo lineup as his attacker on Sept. 19, 2023.

Ayala is scheduled to appear in in Clark County Justice Court on Feb. 28 for a preliminary hearing on the new attempted murder charge.

"Mr. Ayala is entitled to his day in court, he is entitled to have a good lawyer, he is entitled to cross-examine the witnesses, he is entitled to present devices on his own behalf, but at the end of the day we have a jury system and court jury will decide his guilt or innocence," Wolfson told KSNV. "We feel very confident in the strength of our case, we feel very confident that we will get justice for these victims."

"We have accused him of doing some pretty serious things. I mean open murder, you can't get more serious than that, and now an attempted murder charge," added Wolfson.

Ayala's other trial begins on Nov. 12.

Blaze News previously reported that Ayala was indicted by a grand jury in October for murder with the use of a deadly weapon; attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon; battery with use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm; and two counts of failing to stop at the scene of a crash involving death. The charges were enhanced because Probst, the former police chief of Bell, California, was a senior citizen.

Both Ayala and co-defendant Jzamir Keys were also slapped with felony charges of residential burglary, use of a deadly weapon, three counts of grand larceny auto, and three counts of possession of a stolen vehicle.

The duo appear to have filmed themselves driving a white sedan off the road on Aug. 14, then targeting Probst for slaughter. Ayala is believed to have been behind the wheel at the time.

In the video, one of the perpetrators can be heard asking the other, "Ready?"

The other responds, "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Hit his a**," all the while laughing.

The duo proceed to run over Probst, leaving his crumpled body bleeding out on the roadside.

The vehicle Ayala allegedly used to kill Probst was found less than 10 minutes away from the crash site with blood streaked across its windshield.

After allegedly murdering Probst, Ayala and his compatriot are said to have stolen additional vehicles, then crashed them into one another for fun near a shopping plaza.

Police found another video on Ayala's cell phone allegedly showing the duo also driving into a 72-year-old man on a bicycle, then roaring with laughter. The other cyclist survived the attack.

While ineligible for the death penalty, Ayala faces a maximum of life in state prison.

'Hit this b****': Police searching for driver heard in video cackling with female passenger while mowing down pedestrians

Police are searching for a driver who appears to have intentionally mowed down two pedestrians in North Seattle late last month. The barbaric vehicular attacks, reminiscent of the August rampage that claimed the life of a retired police chief in Las Vegas, likely left two victims with serious injuries.

SPD Chief Adrian Diaz referred to the dual hit-and-runs as "callous crimes," indicating the driver had targeted and struck pedestrians at random.

The first victim was struck around 1:50 a.m. near 107th and Aurora Avenue North. Police indicated surveillance footage showed a crowd of people tending to the victim, then ferrying her away in a car.

The second victim was struck from behind in a bus lane near the 9600 block of Aurora Avenue North. The Daily Mail indicated the victim had been in the lane because the sidewalk was closed for construction. Upon impact, the victim's body rolled off the hood of the car.

Detectives have reached out to nearby hospitals, reviewed 911 call records, and canvassed the area for witnesses, but have yet to locate the victims, whom the SPD suggested likely "suffered serious injury."

SPD spokesman Shawn Weismiller indicated the attacks may have involved two different cars, reported the Seattle Times.

Seeking help identifying the driver, the Seattle Police Department released a cellphone video taken inside the suspect's car during an attack as well as surveillance footage showing one of the attacks.

In the cellphone footage, a female passenger can be heard instructing the driver, "Hit this b****, hit this b****!"

The driver swerves to hit the female victim. After smashing into the woman, the suspect and his passengers cackle and curse the crumpled form shrinking in their rear view.

The cellphone video of the second incident once again captures the driver and his passengers laugh upon striking an unsuspecting pedestrian.

The New York Post indicated investigators found the cellphone footage uploaded to social media.

Hit and Runyoutu.be

The attacks left nearby residents Ellen Throneberry and Ethan Gunnel in a state of disbelief.

Throneberry told KIRO-TV, "It's like super messed up."

"It's horrific for sure," added Gunnel. "It almost seems like they think ... it's a joke or like they're doing it for fun, which is like pretty horrifying."

"I don't know what kind of person would think it's funny hitting people," said Gunnel.

Jzamir Keys and Jesus Ayala of Las Vegas appear to be two such people.

Keys and Ayala face possible life in prison after filming themselves allegedly murdering 64-year-old retired police chief Andreas Probst with a stolen car on Aug. 14. Like the suspects in the Seattle case, they too giggled with delight on camera while allegedly smashing into other cars, Probst, and a bicyclist before wrecking their ride.

Video shows the fatal 100 mph crash that drove a Chinese national to flee the country

A Chinese national facing vehicular homicide charges in Bellevue, Washington, has fled the United States, leaving a body, a wrecked sports car, and an international scandal in her wake.

The Bellevue Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash on 108th Avenue NE near the interchange with State Route 520 on Sept. 30. First responders found a dead male at the scene, 27-year-old Chinese national Yabao Liu.

Ting Ye, 26, identified as the driver, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to charging documents, both police and firefighters at the scene said Ye's breath reeked of booze, reported the Bellevue Reporter.

Ye appears to have been driving recklessly and speeding well over 90 mph in a 35 mph zone when she lost control of the 2020 Porsche 911 around 3:45 a.m., slammed into a concrete barrier, then went airborne.

BPD spokesman Seth Tyler suggested that the car was likely going in excess of 100 mph, reported the Daily Mail.

Footage of the incident captured by traffic cameras show the Porsche whip by at a breakneck speed, then begin to issue clouds of rubber dust while skidding perilously through an intersection. The Porsche slams sideways into a concrete barrier, then cartwheels through the air and into a ditch.

— (@)

After allegedly flouting the laws of the land and putting her passenger in the ground, Ye refused to cooperate with detectives. This refusal, coupled with the apparent inability of investigators to talk to the medics until a week after the incident, delayed efforts to establish probable cause for the Chinese national's arrest.

Although an investigator put in a request with the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office on Oct. 6 for Ye's arrest, she apparently was already scheming to get out of the country. That same day, she got out of the hospital, although it remains unclear whether she had help in doing so.

On Oct. 9, Ye had an acquaintance get her out of state and into Vancouver, Canada.

Although prosecutors filed the case on Oct. 10, requesting a $2 million bail and demanding that Ye turn over her passport and stay in Washington, she had already caught a flight back to China, reported the Seattle Times.

"At that point, she was not free to leave, but she had already left," said BPD spokesman Seth Tyler.

A conviction for vehicular homicide could land Ye up to 8.5 years in jail should she ever be brought back to face justice.

There is presently a national warrant for Ye's arrest, meaning that if she returns to the U.S., she will be flagged. However, unless she attempts to do so, she'll likely get off scot-free, as China and the U.S. do not have an extradition treaty.

Tyler indicated police are applying for an Interpol Red Notice so that countries that do have extradition treaties with the U.S. would flag her if she passes through.

Former U.S. Ambassador to China Gary Locke said, "The story is not over," reported the Daily Mail.

"Yes, she was able to elude the arrest warrant, but if she were to ever travel to another country, let's say to Europe on business or pleasure to an area, to a country that does have an extradition treaty with the United States she'll be flagged when she enters that country by Interpol and subject to extradition back to the United States if the United States government so desires," said Locke.

Tyler suggested that "this case has gained an intense interest in China," adding he expects "we'll hear more on that."

"Our plea to [Ye] is that she return and realize that there’s a grieving family involved here," said Tyler. "They really need closure on this. ... She can bring this matter to a close by returning to the United States."

Las Vegas teens accused of running over retired police chief in stolen car continue laughing in courtroom, taunt victim's grieving family

Jzamir Keys, 16, and Jesus Ayala, 18, are accused of fatally mowing down 64-year-old retired police chief Andreas Probst with a stolen car on Aug. 14 — a horrific slaying caught on film, along with the duo's maniacal laughter. In court Tuesday, the alleged murderers kept on laughing.

The victim's daughter, Taylor Probst, was present at the Regional Justice Center in Las Vegas for the hearing. She indicated that Keys and Ayala "did not respect the court whatsoever. ... They were just d**king around the entire time," reported KSNV-TV.

The duo apparently also taunted the victim's grieving family.

"They (the defendants) were flipping us off," continued Taylor Probst. "They were snickering, laughing, trying to mad-dog us and intimidate us, which didn't work."

Taylor Probst said, "It just makes him look bad," referencing Ayala's rude gestures to the family. "How can you sit there after taking a man's life and act like such an entitled p***k?"

Crystal Probst, the victim's widow, said she didn't let the teens bother her despite their apparent efforts to intimidate the family, reported the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

District Judge Jacqueline Bluth informed the teens Tuesday that their trial was set for Sept. 16, 2024. They will both be tried as adults.

Ayala and Keys were indicted by a grand jury earlier this month on the following charges, enhanced because Probst was a senior citizen: murder with use of a deadly weapon; attempted murder with use of a deadly weapon; battery with use of a deadly weapon reslting in substantial bodily harm; and two counts of duty to stop at the scene of a crash involving death.

They also face unenhanced felony charges of residential burglary, use of a deadly weapon, three counts of grance larceny auto, and three counts of possession of a stolen vehicle.

Both pleaded not guilty on Oct. 11.

Although Nevada has the death penalty, the teens are not eligible on account of their age. They instead face a maximum of life in state prison.

David Westrook, Ayala's attorney, said he intends to seek the release of his client from jail pending trial, reported the Las Vegas Sun.

Ayala and Keys appear to have filmed parts of their rampage, including when they allegedly drove a white sedan off the road, then targeted Probst, the former police chief of Bell, California, for slaughter.

In the gruesome video, one perpetrator asks the other, "Ready?"

The other responds, "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Hit his a**," all the while laughing.

The stolen 2016 Hyundai Elantra allegedly used by the duo to hit Probst was reportedly found less than 10 minutes away from where the victim's body was found with blood splashed across its windshield.

Probst was not the duo's only alleged victim.

Police found another video on Ayala's cell phone of a second bicyclist being struck by a Kia Soul.

KLAS-TV indicated that in the video of the second incident, taken by Ayala, a voice can be heard repeatedly urging the driver to "bump him," referencing a 72-year-old man riding his bicycle on the far side of the street. Both suspects cackle as their car's engine can be heard accelerating.

The elderly victim suffered a knee injury but ultimately survived.

Ayala can be heard in bodycam footage later telling his arresting officer, "You think this juvenile [expletive] is gonna do some [expletive]? I'll be out in 30 days, I'll bet you."

Ayala, whose criminal record in the juvenile system is substantial, added, "It's just ah, [expletive] ah, hit-and-run — slap on the wrist."

His mother told KLAS her son might be beyond saving, saying, "I don't know why he did this. ... I don't know if God can forgive this."

Taylor and Crystal Probst indicated they will continue to attend the teens' court appearances, seeking justice and carrying on the victim's memory.

Las Vegas teen bet arresting officers he'd only receive a 'slap on the wrists' for mowing down 64-year-old former police chief in stolen car: Report

The teens accused of fatally mowing down 64-year-old retired police chief Andreas Probst with a stolen car on Aug. 14 appeared in Las Vegas Justice Court on Thursday. Jesus Ayala, 18, and Jzamir Keys, 16, face a variety of charges including murder and are being tried as adults in the death penalty state.

According to police, Ayala, whose alleged inhumanity was caught on film, appeared wholly unrepentant upon being taken into custody, telling officers, "You think this juvenile [expletive] is gonna do some [expletive]? I'll be out in 30 days, I'll bet you," reported KLAS-TV.

Ayala, whose criminal record in the juvenile system is substantial, added, "It's just ah, [expletive] ah, hit-and-run — slap on the wrist."

These remarks, volunteered before arresting officers had even mentioned the hit-and-run, were reportedly captured on a police body camera.

Ayala and Keys are believed to be the two men who filmed themselves driving a white sedan off the road, then targeting Probst for slaughter.

In the video, one perpetrator asks the other, "Ready?"

The other responds, "Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Yeah! Hit his a**," all the while laughing.

Sources familiar with the investigation told KLAS that the stolen car allegedly used by the duo to hit the former police chief of Bell, California, was found less than 10 minutes away from the crash site with blood streaked across its windshield.

After leaving Probst bleeding in their wake, Ayala and Keys are said to have stolen two additional vehicles near Lake Mead Boulevard and Torrey Pines Drive, which they then crashed into one another for kicks near a shopping plaza.

Probst was apparently not the duo's only victim.

Extra to the footage of Probst's slaying, police found another video on Ayala's cell phone of a second bicyclist being struck by a Kia Soul.

KLAS indicated that in the video of the second incident, taken by Ayala, a voice can be heard repeatedly urging the driver to "bump him," referencing a 72-year-old man riding his bicycle on the far side of the street. Both suspects roar with laughter as their car's engine can be heard accelerating.

The elderly victim reportedly survived.

Clark County Detention Records indicate that Ayala, the suspected driver who can be heard in the video gleefully targeting Probst for annihilation, faces the following charges: open murder with the use of a deadly weapon; attempted murder; battery with use of a deadly weapon; failure to stop at the scene of a crash involving a death or injury; reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm or death; five counts of possession, receipt or transference of a stolen vehicle; two counts of grand larceny of a motor vehicle; burglary of structure; possession of burglary tools; conspiracy grand larceny of auto; and conspiracy burglary.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal indicated Ayala is facing another case in the juvenile court system for which he can be similarly charged as an adult.

Keys, who appears to have egged on the driver and filmed the mayhem, has been charged with open murder with use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder, and battery with use of a deadly weapon.

If tried and convicted of first-degree murder as adults, the teens could face 50 years in prison, life in Nevada State Prison, or the death penalty. If convicted of second-degree murder, the teens could face 25 years or life in prison.

When pressed by reporters on what the duo's bail would be set at, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said, "The determination of whether somebody should remain in custody is based upon whether they’re a flight risk or a danger to the community. ... I believe they’re potentially both. They have certainly proved that they are dangerous."

Taylor Probst, the victim's daughter, said at a press conference earlier this week, "Andy’s life was robbed by two individuals who did not believe that lives of others matter."

Taylor Probst called on Wolfson's office "to take these crimes to the furthest extent of the law."

Wolfson in response stressed, "Justice will be served in this case."

Ayala's mother thinks her son may be beyond redemption, telling KLAS, "I don't know why he did this. ... I don't know if God can forgive this."

Keys' mother, on the other hand — who was reportedly charged with five counts of child abuse in 2016, pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor child abuse, and was ultimately convicted for misdemeanor disorderly conduct — claimed the media has not told the truth about her son's involvement, suggesting her "son's side of the story will be told."

The duo, who were still in the Clark County Detention Center as of Thursday, are scheduled to reappear in court on Sept. 26.

One dead, several victims 'mangled,' after man drove SUV into Boston area Apple store, pinning bodies against inside wall

A male driver sped into an Apple store in the Boston area on Monday morning, killing one and injuring at least 17 people.

What are the details?

911 calls began to pour in from the neighboring Derby Street shops around 10:45 a.m., after a man drove a black SUV through the front plate-glass window of an Apple store in the Boston suburb of Hingham, reported the Independent.

The driver struck multiple people inside the establishment.

The Hanover Fire Department indicated shortly after the incident that multiple people were "injured/trapped."

Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz suggested that some victims had been pinned to the inside wall of the store.

Firefighters appeared to have helped someone trapped under the vehicle inside the store.

Some bystanders reportedly leapt into action to provide aid to those injured both inside and outside the store right after the incident.

One male victim has been confirmed dead.

A statement issued by Apple suggested that the deceased may have been a "professional who was onsite supporting recent construction at the store."

WCVB reported that victims have been transported to various hospitals in the area.

South Shore Health is presently treating 17 victims for various injuries, including head trauma and "mangled" limbs. The hospital's chief of trauma, Dr. Christopher Burns, indicated that multiple patients have life-threatening injuries, meaning the death count may soon rise.

Cruz said that the driver was being interviewed by police and that a criminal investigation is underway, suggestive that this may have been an intentional attack.

One witness claimed that while the driver appeared to have been injured in the crash, the man had nevertheless been alert.

The district attorney said, "this morning was an unthinkable morning, and people are trying to get through it and process what happened."

Alarming images are presently circulating revealing a gaping hole in the front window of the Apple store. Shattered glass and what appears to be blood stains can also be seen on the ground near the entry point.

One witness who was nearby the store at the moment of impact told NBC10 that "all of a sudden we hear this, I don't want to say explosion but a bang, a very loud bang. So we jumped up from the table and we looked out the window and we could see the hole in the Apple Store."

Police began attempting to remove the SUV lodged inside the building around 3 p.m. Footage shows HPD preparing the break more glass to retrieve the vehicle:

Attempted murder suspect freed from jail after allegedly plowing through 25 LA sheriff's recruits and leaving behind 'bodies everywhere, bones sticking out and bleeding'

The driver accused of plowing through a large group of 75 law enforcement recruits in Los Angeles County on Wednesday has been named, charged, and released. Investigators now believe the incident to have been intentional.

Building an 'ironclad, iron proof' case

In a statement on Nov. 17, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department indicated that 22-year-old Nicholas Joseph Gutierrez was charged with attempted murder on peace officers and that additional charges were pending.

CNN reported that while investigators have strong suspicions that the suspect meant to inflict harm on the recruits, they first need to shore up those suspicions with substantial evidence.

Since the department is usually required to present a case to the district attorney within 48 hours of a suspect's arrest, they provisionally cut Gutierrez loose after his initial arrest. According to the Los Angeles Times, Gutierrez's original arrest was deemed a detention.

LASD Deputy Deanna Mares told CNN: "It's not like they arrested the wrong suspect. ... They just want to make sure the investigation is going to be complete."

Sgt. Gerardo Magos similarly suggested that there was ample evidence but that law enforcement just wanted "to make sure it's properly presented.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva suggested that part of the reason investigators are taking more time is that they don't trust the leftist district attorney to do his job.

The sheriff told NewsNation, "We operate under prosecutor George Gascón. We definitely have grave concerns about his ability to prosecute. We are actually going to provisionally release him (Gutierrez) until we can have the case ironclad, iron-proof, and submitted to the DA for filing consideration. Right now, we want to tie up all the loose ends on the case and then present it to the DA."

Gutierrez is reportedly due in court on Friday.

A 'deliberate act'

Gutierrez allegedly drove 30 to 40 mph the wrong way up a street near the sheriff's STARS Center Academy in Whittier, California, where 75 sheriff's deputy recruits were jogging. The suspect is said to have mowed down 25 recruits, some of whom reportedly lost limbs.

Twenty of the victims are with the LASD; two are with the Glendale PD; two are with the Bell PD; and one is with the Pasadena PD.

The Independent reported that were it not for a light pole, even more people could have been injured.

Captain Pat MacDonald said, "Thank God for that light pole, because the vehicle ultimately hit it and stopped, as opposed to possibly hitting more recruits."

Five recruits were left in critical condition. According to the Los Angeles Times, over a dozen others suffered "life-altering" injuries of varying severity.

Villanueva described the aftermath to NewsNation: "It was a bedlam, chaos, you know, there were bodies everywhere, bones sticking out and bleeding profusely. It was a pretty traumatic scene."

"In fact, the paramedics that were there had never seen something of that scale. It was almost like an airplane accident, but everyone was alive, thankfully," added Villanueva.

As of Thursday night, seven recruits were reportedly still in the hospital, two of whom remained in critical condition.

The LASD noted that homicide investigators would present the case to the Los Angeles County district attorney's office on Friday for filing considerations.

Villanueva believes the vehicular attack to have been a "deliberate act."

In one video of the incident caught on a nearby security camera, it appears as though the suspect oriented his vehicle toward the victims:

The sheriff said on Wednesday that there were no skid marks at the scene, suggestive of a failure or a refusal to apply the brakes when driving toward the recruits. After allegedly mowing down the prospective deputies, Gutierrez allegedly remained in the Honda CR-V with his foot still on the accelerator.

A field sobriety test indicated that Gutierrez was not drunk on the morning of the brutal incident. The Los Angeles Times indicated that marijuana may have been recovered from the suspect's vehicle.

Man allegedly kills Republican teenager with his car over political disagreement

A North Dakota man is in custody after he allegedly struck and killed a teenager over a political disagreement.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, Shannon Brandt, 41, chased Cayler Ellingson, 18, down an alley in McHenry, North Dakota, and then hit him with his SUV, according to police. Police say that Brandt called 911 at approximately 2:35 a.m. local time to report the incident, telling the dispatcher that Ellingson was a member of a "Republican extremist group" who had attempted to sic his friends on Brandt. Brandt supposedly stated he was afraid the group was "coming to get him." Brandt also allegedly admitted that he had been drinking.

Ellingson had just attended a street dance earlier that night. He had called his mother — Sheri Larson Ellingson, according to a GoFundMe account created to raise money for her son's funeral expenses — to ask her to come pick him up. Cayler was killed before she could get there.

Brandt is allegedly an acquaintance of Sheri's.

North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind told reporters that the incident is still under investigation.

"We are still trying to determine what, exactly, transpired at the time of crash and prior to that as well," Niewind said.

"We do not know of any witnesses," Niewind continued. "We are still making attempts to interview potential witnesses from the street dance, people that were present prior to the crash happening."

Brandt has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide and DUI. However, prosecutors may assess more serious charges, pending the outcome of the investigation.

A judge ruled that Brandt be held on $50,000 bail, though Brandt contested that decision, claiming that his home, family, and job indicate that he is not a flight risk. If convicted of the current charges, Brandt faces a minimum of 10 years in prison, due to a DUI conviction already on his record. The maximum sentence he could receive is 20 years.

McHenry, North Dakota, is a tiny town of fewer than 100 people, located about two hours northwest of Fargo.
