Video: Suspect accused of slashing 11-year-old girl needs NYPD officers to protect him from angry mob

A suspect accused of slashing an 11-year-old girl in the head and punching a woman was chased down by an angry mob in New York City. However, officers with the NYPD protected the suspect from the horde seeking vigilante justice.

An 11-year-old girl was slashed near the East 116th Street subway station in East Harlem around 2:15 p.m. on Friday, according to police. The young girl was knifed in the back of the head and had her ear cut as she stood on a downtown platform holding her mother’s hand, sources told the New York Post. The outlet reported that the weapon used in the attack was a box cutter.

The suspect – who reportedly has a lengthy rap sheet – allegedly fled the crime scene by running into the subway station and boarding a train.

The mother of the stabbing victim reportedly chased after the alleged attacker, but he was able to run away.

An unnamed MTA employee told WPIX, "I saw a guy; he was trying to get off the train car, and he was near the third rail. I asked him what happened, and he said people were chasing him and trying to kill him, but people were yelling he stabbed someone. I grabbed him because I saw the police were running toward us, but he managed to escape."

Moments before slashing the little girl, the suspect allegedly punched an unsuspecting 43-year-old woman around the street corner.

The victim's mother, Gorzata Sladek, told the New York Post, "It was traumatizing. Terrible. It’s terrible to see a little girl with her head cut, sliced in half and it’s just terrible."

A UPS worker added, "Her head [was] bloody. Bleeding can’t stop. [She was] bleeding in her hand and her shirt … she was crying. Scared."

The young girl was treated by medics near a juice bar before being rushed to a local hospital. She underwent surgery that required multiple stitches and staples to fix the gash.

An angry mob was able to track down the suspect and corner him in the street about a block away where he had allegedly punched a woman.

Several NYPD officers needed to protect the suspect from the crowd demanding street justice. In the video, the mob is shouting, and one man pokes the suspect with a cane.

Multiple men had to be pulled away from trying to attack the suspect.

A man in the crowd is heard yelling, "You f***ing piece of s**t!"

Cops arrested 30-year-old Shaquan Cummings. He was charged with two counts of assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child.

The Post noted that Cummings has more than 20 prior arrests, including assault, criminal mischief, and fare evasion. His last arrest for assault allegedly happened two months ago.

Sladek said, "You should be able to walk on the street and not worry that somebody will attack you and attack, actually, my daughter not even attacking a dog, but a little kid."

The distraught mother said her daughter is "not doing well emotionally."

"She doesn’t want to go back to school. She doesn’t want to go outside anymore,” Sladek stated.

Video: Man pummels suspected child sex predator at Las Vegas courthouse

A suspect charged with sexually assaulting a minor was thrashed by a man and the violent ambush was all caught on video.

Yousuf Azami – a 59-year-old actor who was born in Afghanistan – was recently charged with kidnapping, lewdness, and sex assault charges.

On Tuesday, Azami made an appearance at Las Vegas Justice Court for a preliminary hearing on the charges.

"For some reason, Azami walked out of the Las Vegas Justice Court courtroom before the hearing," according to KLAS-TV.

Security camera footage shows a man sitting on a bench outside the courtroom. He noticed Azami exit the courtroom and he followed him down the hallway of the courthouse.

After appearing to briefly exchange words, the man then unleashed a powerful right hook that caused Azami to plummet to the floor. While Azami was on the ground, the attacker repeatedly punched the suspected child sex predator.

Video shows bystanders and law enforcement officers immediately rushing to stop the physical attack.

The assailant has been identified as Glenn Cromwell Jr.

Cromwell was taken into custody and charged with battery.

He was released on his own recognizance and is due to appear in court on March 19.

KLAS-TV reported that Cromwell is "connected" to the alleged teen victim. The Mirror claimed that vigilante is the father of the victim.

Azami is accused of sexually assaulting a teen girl said to be age 14 or 15 at the time of the alleged sex crime.

The alleged victim told police that she was walking around looking to "get something to smoke and eat" on Sept. 3, 2023. She claimed to have encountered Azami at a marijuana dispensary parking lot.

Azami allegedly drove the young girl to his apartment.

“Azami was on the couch for a while on his phone and then came to lay with her on the bed,” according to police. “[The teenager] had just started to fall asleep when Azami lay behind her. She stated she felt his pelvis ‘grinding’ against her and he was not wearing any clothes.”

The alleged victim said that she told Azami to stop his sexual advances. Charging documents say the teenager then took a shower, put on clothing belonging to Azami, and ran out of the apartment.

The minor was reportedly near the Mirage Hotel, where "she met a man who was picking up his wife” and informed him that “she had been kidnapped and raped and needed police."

Police officers responded to the Mirage Hotel for a report of child sex abuse.

Azami denied having any sexual contact with the teenager, according to police. He alleged not to know the teenager was underage.

Azami is scheduled to return to court on Feb. 20. He had been released from jail on $5,000 bail.

The court brouhaha took place in the same Las Vegas courthouse where a felon tackled and attacked Clark County District Court Judge Mary Kay Holthus earlier this month. That disturbing attack was also captured on security camera video.

Ian Watkins, former Lostprophets singer and pedophile convicted of attempted rape of a baby, stabbed in prison: Reports

The former singer of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, Ian Watkins, was stabbed in prison, according to multiple reports. Watkins is in prison serving time for numerous pedophilia-related offenses, including attempting to rape a baby.

Watkins, 46, was reportedly held hostage by three fellow prisoners for several hours and was stabbed at His Majesty's Prison in Wakefield, United Kingdom.

According to The Mirror, "The prison had to wait until a 'Tornado Crew' could be assembled - specialist officers trained in hostage situations. The three prisoners kept Watkins hostage for almost six hours – it is believed the attack took place on B wing where 70 percent of the prisoners are serving life and 20 percent serving 10 years or more. So serious were his injuries it is understood that he received emergency treatment from paramedics in an ambulance on the prison estate."

The outlet said Watkins was hospitalized and "seriously ill" after being "locked in his cell and stabbed by other prisoners in Wakefield prison."

Sky News is reporting, "The pedophile sustained injuries which are not life-threatening following an incident at HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire."

A spokesperson for U.K.'s prison system said, "Police are investigating an incident which took place on Saturday at HMP Wakefield. We are unable to comment further while the police investigate."

Watkins was arrested in September 2012 for child sex crime charges, which police accused him of committing "organized pedophile." The alt-metal band frontman was put in prison in December 2013.

Rolling Stone reported, "Watkins is currently 10 years into a 29-year prison sentence for a litany of heinous sex offenses, including the rape of a child who was under the age of 13, conspiracy to rape a one-year-old baby girl, and possession of child pornography. (During trial, it was revealed that the password to encrypted files on Watkins’ computer was 'I FUK KIDZ.')"

In 2019, Watkins was sentenced to 10 additional months in jail after a cell phone was found in his possession in prison. Watkins claimed that fellow prisoners ordered him to hold on to the mobile phone. However, Watkins reportedly refused to name the prisoners who gave him the cell phone because the singer said he was locked up with "murderers, mass murderers, rapists, pedophiles, serial killers – the worst of the worst."

Watkins founded Lostprophets in 1997, and the band broke up in 2013 when he was sentenced to prison.

Texas man tracks down suspect who allegedly stole his truck, kills reported thief during shootout at mall

Two people are in the hospital and one person is dead after a shootout erupted at a popular mall when a Texas man tracked down alleged thieves accused of stealing his truck.

A shopper at the South Park Mall in San Antonio reportedly noticed his Ford truck had been stolen on Thursday afternoon. The owner tracked down his truck to another side of the South Park Mall, according to the San Antonio Police Department.

There were allegedly two people sitting inside the stolen vehicle — a man in the driver's seat and a woman in the passenger's seat. Police said the owner brandished a firearm and ordered the suspected thieves to exit the vehicle. That's when a shootout broke out.

The man in the driver's seat shot the owner, according to the SAPD. The owner reportedly returned fire — killing the suspected thief and injuring the woman. The female was taken to the hospital and is said to be in critical condition. The truck owner was also hospitalized in stable condition, according to police.

The shooting happened within two minutes of the owner contacting the police, according to the SAPD.

Newsweek reported, "A man who had been working out at a gym at the mall said users were locked inside for 10-15 minutes during the incident."

San Antonio Police Department chief William McManus said the owner "had every right to track his vehicle down."

McManus added, "At the moment, it appears to be a case of self-defense."

"Now, we would prefer that [you] call the police before taking that into your own hands, but he did what he felt he needed to do, and we have one dead suspect, and we have a critically wounded passenger who was with the suspect, and we have a wounded owner of the vehicle," he stressed. "Again, he had every right to track his vehicle down."

Defense attorney Nico LaHood told KENS, “Citizens have a right to prevent the consequences of a theft. In that prevention of consequences, you can use force to prevent a theft. You can use physical force, but the law also says you can display a weapon. That is considered force, but it’s not considered deadly force."

"What made this different was the suspect actually used deadly force against the vehicle owner," said LaHood — a former Bexar County district attorney. "At that time, he had the right to use deadly force to prevent his own injury. He should not be facing any charges from this incident."

McManus said the investigation is in the "preliminary" stages but noted the owner had not yet been hit with charges.

Vigilante mob burns 13 gang members to death with gas-soaked tires in the streets of Haiti's capital

A mob reportedly beat and burned suspected gang members to death in the streets of Port-au-Prince, the capitol of Haiti.

Gruesome videos of the vigilante action appeared on social media and showed the alleged gang members with burning tires around their necks.

The incident began when members of the criminal gangs broke into homes early in the morning on Monday.

“It was 3 am. The gangs invaded us. There was shooting, shooting. This neighborhood is a peaceful area, all the people in the surrounding area are peaceful citizens,” said a local resident to AFP.

Later, the Haitian National Police rounded up several suspected gang members, and the residents saw their opportunity for revenge.

They pulled the suspected gang members and beat them and then burned them to death.

“More than a dozen individuals riding on board this vehicle were unfortunately lynched by members of the population,” said a statement from the Haitian National Police.

A 15-year-old resident told AFP that the residents were ready to attack the gangs again.

"If the gangs come to invade us, we will defend ourselves!" the unnamed resident said. "We had our weapons, we had our machetes! We will take their weapons, we will not run away!"

The brutal incident erupted as Haitians attempt to deal with the chaos that erupted after the July 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.

Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry praised the Haitian National Police for helping restore "order and peace in our cities and neighborhoods.”

Criminal gangs are said to control wide regions of the country that is also dealing with an ongoing humanitarian crisis.

“We don’t ask for a lot. The gang members have invaded the area. We want the police to go ahead and confront them. We’re on our own. We have nothing,” said another resident.

Here's a local news video about the gruesome incident:

Drunk man armed with a shotgun walks into a bar, patrons disarm man by smashing him in the face with his own gun: Police

An intoxicated man armed with a shotgun walked into an Oregon bar around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, but patrons quickly disarmed the gun-totting individual, authorities say.

According to police, a drunk man wielding a shotgun entered the Skyland Pub in Troutdale, Oregon. Quick-thinking bar patrons allegedly identified the armed man as a possible threat. Two patrons at the Skyland Pub confronted the visibly intoxicated man.

The bar patrons grabbed the man's shotgun and smashed him in the face with his own gun, according to deputies with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. Other bargoers then helped tackle the purported drunk man, while others fled from the drinking establishment. The gunman was held captive until police arrived at the scene. Police recovered the shotgun at the Skyland Pub.

The Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office arrested 39-year-old Arturo Michel-Apolinar. Deputies said that they didn't know if Michel-Apolinar had violent intentions, but they did observe that he was noticeably drunk.

He was charged with menacing and unlawful use of a weapon, Fox 8 News reported. Michel-Apolinar was released from jail on Friday, according to court records.

Authorities said that none of the patrons were harmed in the takedown, and that only the man with the shotgun suffered injuries. He was taken to a local hospital.

'He was bloody, nothing but blood': Suspected child rapist chased and stomped by victim's family

A man who allegedly raped his 14-year-old daughter was taken into custody Tuesday night by Detroit police. When officers first found him, it was abundantly clear that friends and neighbors had administered some preemptive justice.

What are the details?

The alleged child rapist had reportedly been chased around a neighborhood near Pembroke St. and Greenfield Rd. before the victim's relatives finally caught up with him.

In graphic footage obtained by 7 Mile Radio News, persons purportedly related to the victim can be seen castigating him for allegedly raping his own daughter while waiting for police and paramedics to arrive. The suspect is visibly busted up, kneeling naked in a pool of his own blood.

Carmen Witherspoon, a nearby resident, opened her front door to see the alleged rapist surrounded by the victim's incensed relatives. She told Fox 2, "They beat him over there real good."

"He was on the ground. He managed to get up and he ran across the street, and he was on my property. He fell, he slipped, and fell. And that’s when they beat him some more," said Witherspoon. "It broke me down that a man would do that."

Another witness said the suspected child rapist "was bloody, nothing but blood, there was a puddle on the ground."

According to 7 Mile Radio News, it is rumored the relatives turned vigilantes "stomped his top lip off" and left him "with his left eye hanging out of his head."

One onlooker remarked in the video, as if in disbelief, "Y'all touched your motherf***ing kids."

"I hope you get everything that you deserve," one woman cried out as what remained of the alleged rapist was carted away by paramedics.

The suspect was previously wanted for a non-fatal shooting in east Detroit.

Marc D'Andre of 7 Mile Radio News suggested, "Whether it be swift street justice or through the court systems or jail systems, I think we need to raise awareness about this type of situation because too often it gets swept under the rug, and we have a lot of victims — both girls and boys."

Detroit Police Capt. Rebecca McKay called the sexual assault "absolutely tragic. ... It's going to definitely take time to heal."

McKay told Fox 2 that sexual assault "occurs at all ages. I would just ask the parents, teachers, advisers, administrators, friends, and family, just always keep your eyes open. Listen, if you see something — say something."

Ex-MMA fighter choked out wanted felon who violently attacked police officer

A wanted felon violently attacked a police officer last week in Portage, Indiana. The wanted man may have gotten away from law enforcement if it wasn't for a former MMA fighter volunteering his particular set of skills to incapacitate the felon.

William Cassoday, 39, was on his way with his wife to visit his mother on Monday afternoon to show her their new car. While driving, he noticed a Porter County Sheriff’s Office patrolman being punched in the face and he immediately pulled over to help the brutalized cop.

Unfortunately for the felon, Cassoday is an ex-MMA fighter and a Brazilian jiu-jitsu trainer.

Cassoday – who is working on getting his black belt and has been training on and off for 13 years – took down the felon with ease.

"I’m 280 pounds - this guy was probably half my size," Cassoday said.

Cassoday came up from behind and put his arm around the felon's neck, then used his other arm to tighten the grip in a rear-naked choke.

“He couldn’t do anything because I was squeezing on his neck and then he kinda felt like he went limp for a second and so I loosen[ed] it up,” Cassoday told WMAQ-TV.

Cassoday pinned the man within 15 seconds, and the police officer recovered to handcuff the suspect.

The Porter County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as 37-year-old Christopher Delgado.

Porter County Sheriff’s Office patrolman Jamison Smith noticed Delgado walking down the street and stopped him for an outstanding warrant for auto theft. Delgado allegedly attacked Smith during the confrontation.

Delgado was arrested and charged with battery, resisting arrest, and providing false information to police.

Patrolman Smith suffered swelling above his right eye from a punch, but is reportedly "going to be OK," according to officials.

While being pinned to the ground, Delgado allegedly told Cassoday that he should be a cop. Cassoday replied, "It's not something I would be interested in. They don't get enough credit for what they do."

Cassoday's wife – Marisa McDaniel – said, "Not a lot of people would have done that. He was very courageous. He didn’t have to think twice, he did what he had to do."

Law enforcement officials said they "cannot thank Mr. William Cassoday enough for his courageous actions."

“Putting his own safety aside, he ran into harm’s way, assisting Officer Smith in taking a felon into custody,” said Porter County Sheriff’s Office Cpl. Benjamin McFalls said, according to the Lake Geneva Regional News.

“Mr. Cassoday willingly jumped into a fight, in which our officer was being violently attacked,” McFalls added. “Mr. Cassoday exemplified what it means to be a resident of Porter County. We will be honoring him in the near future."

Video: Priest ditches wedding in his car to mow down thief who robbed church

A priest in Brazil is accused of purposely running over a man suspected of stealing clothing from a church. Upon finding out about the robbery, the priest bolted out of a wedding that he had officiated.

Father Gustavo Trindade dos Santos, 37, was officiating a wedding on Saturday in the southeastern Brazilian state of São Paulo, according to the Daily Mail.

The bride revealed her experience with the priest to Brazilian news outlet Metropoles, "I didn't know him, but he was super attentive – he laughed, he joked with us before and during the ceremony."

"He told me to stay calm, that I was supposed to breathe, that everything was going to be all right," said Tatiane de Fátima.

The priest officiated the wedding, but during the reception, he found out about a man suspected of stealing three hooded sweatshirts and a t-shirt from the São Sebastião Church's parish house. Instead of taking his own advice of staying calm, the priest reportedly got in his white sedan and chased after the suspected thief.

Security camera video allegedly shows the moment that the priest mows down the man with his vehicle. The car is seen reversing and then speeding away. Trindade reportedly ran over 40-year-old Angelo Nogueira on the sidewalk.

Nogueira survived the car attack, and is recovering at a hospital.

Brazilian police charged the priest with attempted murder. The priest was reportedly on the run for two days before turning himself into authorities.

The church has already cut ties with the priest for the violent vigilante justice.

The leadership at the church released a statement.

“Fr. Gustavo is deeply dismayed and sorry for the tragic outcome, and calls on all the faithful to pray for the life of Mr. Angelo Nogueira, who is recovering in the ICU of Santa Casa in the city," the statement reads, according to Brazilian news site O Antagonista. "Even he who guides his community by the Word of God and through the priesthood is not free from errors and sins."

The bride found out about the hit-and-run by the priest when police showed up at the church to investigate the crime during her wedding celebration.

The bride noted that she had a memorable wedding, "Whether you like it or not, this will end up marking the history of my wedding day. There's no way around it."

New Orleans father arrested in alleged 'street justice' killing of man accused of murdering his son

New Orleans police have arrested a father who allegedly shot and killed a man who is accused of murdering his son.

Bokio B. Johnson, 46, is accused of shooting to death Hollis Carter, 21, and wounding Carter's mother in the Gentilly neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Carter and his mother were headed to court around 9 a.m. on March 23. Minutes before arriving at their scheduled court hearing, they stopped their white sedan at a traffic light when a black Ford F-150 pulled up beside them, the New Orleans Advocate reported. Johnson allegedly executed a deadly drive-by shooting. Carter was shot in the head twice and died at the crime scene. The mother was critically injured in the shooting.

Pastor Mike Smith of Bethel Baptist Community Church said he witnessed the shooting and told WVUE-TV, "When they heard it, everybody turned and they saw a gentleman standing out with his rifle pointing in the car."

"[The mother] was hurt, she couldn't feel her legs, and they called the police. She kept saying, 'My baby, he's in the car, is he ok?' They didn't tell her that he was deceased, they just sent her to the hospital," Smith said.

Carter was headed to court for the alleged slaying of Caleb Johnson, 18, and his stepsister Breyiana Brown, 25, in March 2021.

Caleb – a senior at the Edna Karr High School – was the son of Bokio Johnson.

Johnson's obituary reads: "Caleb leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving parents Bokio Johnson and DeCarlas O'Neal-Johnson." The obituary added that the teen planned to enlist in the U.S. Navy after graduating high school.

Carter – who was facing two second-degree murder charges – served five months before he was released after making a $375,000 bond, according to WWL-TV.

Police said Carter confessed to the murders, but his attorney claimed that Carter provided a false confession because he was fearing retribution from the actual gunman.

Authorities believe the lethal shooting on March 28, 2021, happened because of a gun sale that went wrong in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the Algiers neighborhood of New Orleans. A third unidentified person suffered non-deadly injuries in the shooting.

John Fuller – the defense attorney who represented Carter – said on Wednesday that he believed, "Street justice has resulted in an assurance that there would never be any closure in this case."

Bokio Johnson's attorney said, "People have jumped to conclusions."

"While it is admittedly true that the victim in this matter was accused of the March 2021 murder of Mr. Johnson's son and daughter, that does not, especially in a city like New Orleans, indicate that this is a matter of vigilante justice," attorney Michael Kennedy wrote in a statement.

"If and when the State of Louisiana chooses to indict Mr. Johnson, I can state without question, we will stand together and loudly and clearly respond, 'Not guilty,'" Kennedy declared.

On Friday, Bokio Johnson was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on one count each of second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, according to Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office records.
