'This isn't protest. This is terrorism': Five Antifa extremists charged with domestic terrorism, pulled down from their treehouses

Five leftist extremists have been arrested and charged with domestic terrorism in Georgia after law enforcement finally responded to their violent months-long campaign aimed at halting the construction of new police training center in Dekalb County's South River Forest.

Although some of the alleged terrorists sought refuge in their nearby treehouses during the counterterrorism operation, the strong arm of the law managed to pull them down.

What are the details?

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced that a task force composed of GBI agents, Atlanta police, the FBI, the DeKalb County Police Department, and other agencies executed a successful operation on Tuesday to remove leftist barricades from the entrances to Atlanta's new $90 million police training center and to clear the area of criminal activity.

The operation was prompted by "ongoing criminal activity at the site location," including "carjacking, various crimes against persons, destruction of property, arson, and attacks against public safety officials," wrote GBI spokesman Nelly Miles.

Leftist attacks and threats in the area have become a common occurrence in recent months.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported in October that the extremists — keen on halting construction of what they called "Cop City" on city property — hurled Molotov cocktails at police.

The leftist extremists reportedly also threatened contractors, destroyed equipment, and vandalized offices.

Richard Porter claimed that when he stopped briefly in the area, he was set upon by people apparently living in the woods and wearing "camouflaged stuff."

The extremists allegedly threw a "gas bomb" at Porter and then torched his truck.

WXIA reported that on Saturday, firefighters were dispatched to the area to put out a fire apparently set by the leftists. However, when they attempted to extinguish the flames, they were struck by rocks and firecrackers.

While leftist extremists reportedly pelted police and first responders alike with rocks and bottles on Tuesday, police appear to have answered back with pepper balls.

The task force that addressed the extremist threat this week arrested 22-year-old Francis Carroll of Maine, 25-year-old Nicholas Olson of Nebraska, 25-year-old Serena Hertel of California, 20-year-old Leonardo Vioselle of Georgia, and 22-year-old Arieon Robinson of Wisconsin, each of whom have been charged with domestic terrorism.

Vioselle is the only local among the five charged with terrorism.

The domestic terrorism charges could mean up to 35 years in prison for those so convicted.

The leftist extremists, held in jail without a bond, were also hit with various other charges, including criminal trespass, aggravated assault, obstruction, and interference with government property.

The GBI indicated that police found "explosive devices, gasoline, and road flares" in their search of the "area of concern."

Not protest but terrorism

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) tweeted, "We will not rest when it comes to bringing domestic terrorists to justice, and these arrests should serve as a strong reminder of that."

District Attorney Sherry Boston said in a release, "I strongly believe in the right to peacefully protest for what one believes is right and just. However, I draw the line at violence, destruction of property, and threatening and causing harm to others. ... The alleged acts of violence at the training facility site put the public in grave danger, and will not be tolerated."

Activists intimated at a press conference in southwestern DeKalb County that the criminality in the area will not end with these arrests, reported the Journal-Constitution.

Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum underscored how the violent and undemocratic tactics employed by the leftist extremists are unacceptable.

"The discourse of opposition is in city halls, it is in the public square, it is on the sidewalks. That is where you note your displeasure or your disagreement," Schierbaum told the Journal-Constitution. "It is not in Molotov cocktails. It is not in shooting fireworks at firefighters ... it is not throwing rocks at our squad cars. That is criminal activity."

Kamau Frankin, founder of the black identitarian group Community Movement Builders, said, "I don’t think people are defeated. ... I think there are forest defenders who will continue to defend the forest. That means civil disobedience, that means rallies, demonstrations. That means all the tactics that we can use."

Woman hits two sheriff's deputies with car in attempt to flee. Turns out suspect has criminal history of violence against law enforcement.

A Florida woman with a criminal history of violence against law enforcement hit two sheriff's deputies with a car Saturday near Lakeland as the deputies opened fire in self-defense.

What are the details?

Deputies from the Polk County sheriff's office responded to a suspicious person call from Max Pay Pawn Shop in the 600 block of North Combee Road in unincorporated Lakeland just before 1 p.m., authorities said.

The suspect — identified as 27-year old Carina Holder of Davenport — was attempting to use a stolen credit card, authorities said.

When the deputies arrived a few minutes later and tried to speak to Holder, she got into a BMW X5 and attempted to flee the scene, authorities said.

In fact, Holder drove directly at the deputies, hitting two of them, authorities said. In fear for their lives and others' lives, deputies opened fire in an attempt to stop the car, authorities said, adding that Holder continued to flee from the scene but was caught and arrested about two miles away.

Neither Deputy Sheriff Melissa Myers nor Deputy Sheriff Hannah Peche were seriously hurt after getting hit, authorities said, adding that the suspect was not injured. Myers and fellow Deputy Sheriff Joshua Chaves opened fire, authorities added.

Holder will be charged with two counts of aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer, armed burglary, and resisting with violence, authorities said, adding that fraud charges also are expected.

What did Sheriff Grady Judd have to say?

Outspoken Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, who never seems shy about letting his views be known, said "the suspect has a criminal history of fraud and violence, and that's exactly what was involved here today. Fraudulent activity is how this began, and she elevated it to violence by trying to kill two deputies with her car. Fortunately, she was quickly apprehended, and even more fortunate is that neither one of the deputies were seriously hurt."

Anything else?

Authorities said Holder's criminal history includes Polk County arrests in 2021 for battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting with and without violence.

In March 2022, she was arrested for battery (domestic violence), battery on officer/firefighter, and resisting without violence, authorities added. In September, Holder was arrested and charged with forgery, criminal use of personal ID, grand theft, false statements, false impersonation, fraud to obtain property, uttering a false Instrument, and unlawful use of communications device, authorities said.

Video: Motorist in SUV drags, runs over NYPD officer after fleeing traffic stop

A New York City police officer suffered a broken ankle after a motorist dragged her down a Bronx street and ran over her leg after she slipped beneath the fleeing SUV.

What are the details?

Video released Tuesday by the NYPD shows the officer standing at the open driver’s side door of a black 2017 Range Rover around 6 p.m. Dec. 12 on East 194th Street at Briggs Avenue, the New York Post reported.

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @NYPDnews

Suddenly the motorist hits the gas and drags the officer, who is seen slipping beneath the SUV:

Then the motorist runs over the officer. The vehicle hops as if it had run over a speed bump, and the officer is left in a heap behind the SUV and crying out in pain:

The officer manages to get to her feet and limp to the sidewalk — and then, incredibly, she walks back to the vehicle and appears to open the driver's side door to confront the fleeing motorist.

— NYPD NEWS (@NYPD NEWS) 1640102794

What else do we know?

Officers noticed that the vehicle — driven by 24-year-old Usman Haruna — had expired temporary New Jersey plates, the Post said, citing police and law enforcement sources.

But Haruna refused to stop for cops and drove recklessly through red lights “at an unsafe speed” and swerved in and out of traffic, police added to the paper.

Soon Haruna was driving on a sidewalk and then backed up “recklessly toward the officers,” cops added to the Post.

Two officers then approached the SUV — a male officer on the passenger's side and a female officer who opened the driver’s side door and partially entered the vehicle, police told the paper.

Haruna ran over the female officer's right leg up to her hip, police sources noted to the Post. The male officer suffered bruises on both knees, the paper said.

Haruna was charged with assault, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, aggravated unlicensed operator, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration, police noted to the paper, along with a violation for allegedly operating an unregistered vehicle.

What happened to the officers?

The female officer went to St. Barnabas Hospital, and the male officer went to Jacobi Medical Center, police and law enforcement sources told the Post.

The NYPD tweet about the incident said the female officer "is recovering" and added a "clear" message to criminals: "You will be apprehended!”

Portland protesters attack cops after deadly police-involved shooting

After a deadly police-involved shooting Thursday in Portland, a large group protesters attacked officers at the scene.

What are the details about the shooting?

Police got a welfare check call after 7 p.m. about a white adult male dressed in all black at a motel. Police said after officers arrived with paramedics, they encountered a man matching that description, and an officer-involved shooting took place.

Police said the man was taken to a hospital by ambulance but died despite lifesaving efforts by medical personnel.

"We're early in this investigation," Police Chief Chuck Lovell said. "Preliminary information suggests our officer encountered a very difficult and dynamic situation that no officer wants to face."

An apparent witness gave a different account to KOIN-TV, saying the incident may have started as a fight between two men, and one stabbed the other. The station reported that the witness said police shot the stabbing suspect twice in the back in the parking lot of a Motel 6 — but police didn't confirm that account.

Anything else?

Police said the involved officer will remain on paid administrative leave until the completion of an investigation by the department and the Multnomah County District Attorney Office. KGW-TV said the officer's name was expected to be released Friday.

Here's a KGW video report that aired before the station learned the man who was shot had died:

Similar recent incident

In April, the Oregonian posted a tweet that identified a man Portland police fatally shot as white "in light of social unrest prompted by police shootings of Black people." The paper deleted the tweet after backlash.

One of the critics was conservative radio host Jason Rantz, who tweeted that the "Oregonian is noting the race of the man who was shot in Portland because people won't care enough to riot unless the victim is black and can use it to forward a political agenda. How instructive."

It didn't seem to matter to one protester at the time who recorded himself on video walking along a row of Portland police officers, flipping off each one of them as he bellowed, "F*** you! Quit your f***in' job!"

Cops in Newark hospitalized after 'mob' allegedly 'pummeled,' 'kicked,' and 'choked' them during arrest attempt

Three police officers were "pummeled" Tuesday by a "mob" that "kicked" and "choked" them in Newark, New Jersey, NJ.com reported.

The incident reportedly occurred during an arrest attempt, the outlet said.

What are the details?

Newark Public Safety Director Brian O'Hara told NJ.com that two city officers and a detective from the Essex County Prosecutor's Office were on patrol around 1:30 p.m. in response to recent gun violence when they approached a group of men on a street and tried to stop one who was suspected of gun possession.

Then two brothers of the suspect arrived at the scene and "physically interfered" with the arrest, and the officers called for backup, O'Hara told the outlet.

Two officers were injured during the incident, officials told NJ.com, adding that they were taken to a hospital and later released.

However, James Stewart — president of the Newark Fraternal Order of Police — told the outlet that the three officers were "set upon by a mob of people" while trying to make the arrest, the outlet reported.

"Our officers were pummeled to the ground, kicked in the head and choked," Stewart told NJ.com. "Body worn cameras were forcibly removed and smashed on the ground by the suspects."

Stewart added to the outlet that all three officers were injured and hospitalized despite the city report that said only two were injured. NJ.com said O'Hara did not comment on how the officers were injured.

'Not one of the suspects involved was injured'

"I am especially thankful that the officers involved were very intentional about resolving the incident as peacefully as possible," O'Hara added to the outlet. "They were clearly in danger. But because of their exceptional restraint, not one of the suspects involved was injured. The performance of these officers is commendable, especially in today's climate, where similarly minor incidents have resulted in unpredictable outcomes."

Arrests made

Branden K. Rodwell, 31, of Newark, and Justin Rodwell, 30, of Irvington, were arrested at the scene, O'Hara told NJ.com, adding that Jaykil A. Rodwell, 28, and Jasper D. Spivey, 24 — both of Newark — were arrested Wednesday after surrendering to police.

Branden and Justin Rodwell each face charges of three counts of aggravated assault against a police officer, obstruction of the administration of the law, and resisting arrest, police told the outlet. Jaykil Rodwell and Spivey each face charges of three counts of aggravated assault against a police officer, obstruction of the administration of the law, and hindering apprehension or prosecution, police added.

NJ.com reported that it's unclear if a gun was recovered at the scene, and that police declined to immediately release body camera video of the incident.

Newark Mayor Ras Baraka's office did not respond to a request for comment, the outlet said.

'Complete lack of respect for law enforcement must end'

"This mentality that people do not have to abide by the law, this complete lack of respect for law enforcement must end," Stewart added to NJ.com. "I look forward to the statement from the Mayor of Newark demanding a full investigation and imploring the Essex County Prosecutor's Office to devote their full resources to the apprehension and conviction of every single person involved in this attack on these officers."

Leftist woman screams, 'F*** you, fascist!' at cop — then spits in his face. And boy, does she ever pay for it.

Violent leftists have been emboldened of late to openly abuse police officers on the streets — everything from the relatively mundane act of screaming profanities in their faces to stuff like trying to set them on fire and attempting to murder them in ambushes.

Well, one woman decided to add to the we-can-do-whatever-we-want trend — along with a throng of other demonstrators — while bellowing curses Wednesday night at New York City Police Department officers.

What happened?

"F*** you, fascist!" she screamed in an officer's face. And in case he didn't hear her the first time, she offered a reprise: "F*** you, fascist!"

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @elizameryl

OK then, message received. But, hey, it was nothing these cops haven't endured before.

However, the angry leftist took things a little bit too far: She proceeded to spit in the officer's face.

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @elizameryl

And oh was it ever a major miscalculation.

The officer lunged forward, grabbed the woman, and appeared to throw her to the ground.

The typical entitled cries of outrage followed: "You don't attack a woman!" one detractor yelled, according the New York Post.

What happened next?

Devina Singh, 24, was arrested and charged with obstruction of governmental administration, violation of local law, and harassment, the paper said.

Singh — who hails from Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, which is about 45 minutes northwest of Philadelphia — apparently likes the civil unrest scene in the Big Apple. She was charged with resisting during a protest there in September and unlawful assembly during a protest there in October, police told the Post.

The paper added that on her since-deleted Instagram page Singh posted a photo of her arrest in New York City on Sept. 18, writing, "im so f—— mad … probs bc behind me (white shirt) is Deputy Inspector Elias J. Nikas AKA Little Dick Nik." Classy!

Anything else?

The incident was one of a number of clashes between police in protesters in Manhattan, which included a fire set in the street and taunts directed toward diners, the Post said in a separate story.

"F*** your dinner!" some chanted as they passed Jeffrey's Grocery in the West Village, the paper said.

There were 60 arrests, the Post added.

But it wasn't that way earlier, the paper said, when protesters gathered peacefully in Washington Square Park and chanted, "Count the vote."

Motorist plows through line of cops after being ordered to stop amid Brooklyn rioting — and some Twitter users rejoice

A motorist was caught on video plowing through a line of New York City police officers after being ordered to stop amid rioting in Brooklyn on Tuesday night.

What are the details?

The rioters were responding to the fatal shooting of knife-wielding Walter Wallace Jr. by Philadelphia police the night before.

Around 10 p.m., after numerous acts of vandalism and destruction, cops in riot gear ordered black-clad protesters near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Boerum Place to disperse or face arrests, the New York Post reported.

Some rioters tried to run past officers, which led to a confrontation and close to 30 arrests, the paper said, citing sources.

And at one point near the same intersection, about eight police officers surrounded a sedan and tried to open the doors in an apparent attempt to get the driver to exit.

But nothing doing. The doors seemed to be locked, and after what sounded like several swats upon the vehicle, the motorist began driving again.

Police didn't appreciate that very much, and amid a shouted suggestion to "break a window," cops used their nightsticks to do just that as the sounds of shattering glass were heard.

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @joemarino_

One onlooker, apparently a woman, is heard yelling at officers, "What are you doing?"

It seemed the driver had enough and sped through a line of cops on bicycles.

With that two men both blurt out, "Holy s**t!" and officers appear to try to clear the area.

Here's the clip. (Content warning: Language):

The Post, citing sources, said one officer suffered a leg injury.

It was unclear whether the vehicle and its occupants were affiliated with the protest, the paper added.

Joe Marino of the Post tweeted a slightly shorter version of the video and said police are looking for the motorist in question.

Some Twitter users love that the driver plowed through police

While many folks were horrified by the driver's actions, others felt quite a bit different:

  • "All cops are bastards," one Twitter user wrote, "and by the looks of this video, they're speed bumps, too."
  • "I think there's a line for this... like... don't stand in the road if you don't wanna get hit by a car??" the same user wondered. "Is that the one?"
  • "Good!" another Twitter user reacted before offering the initials for "All Cops Are Bastards."
  • "Boom bitch," another commenter wrote.
  • "Good!" yet another user said. "Get out the f***ing streets jackasses. Didn't they see the dumb cop in Philly get plowed over by a pickup truck, yet they'll never learn."
  • "More of this please," another commenter wrote. "Stupid bitch cops shouldn't be in the road!!"
  • "Well it is illegal to block roads," another user said.

VIDEO: Thugs brazenly smash Canadian police cruiser with rocks, lacrosse stick while cops manage to stay calm in their seats

Two males were caught on video recently walking up to a parked Ontario (Canada) Provincial Police cruiser and smashing it with rocks and a lacrosse stick while officers stayed calm in their seats.

What are the details?

The incident occurred in Caledonia — about 60 miles southwest of Toronto and about the same distance west of Niagara Falls, New York — where tensions regarding an indigenous land dispute have been reemerging, CTV News reported.

It isn't clear when the incident occurred, but video of it was posted Sunday afternoon on OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique's Twitter page.

The officer behind the steering wheel calmly radios that "the male with camo is throwing rocks at us" as a second male dressed in dark clothing walks to the driver-side door, tells the cops to leave, and repeatedly pounds the driver-side window with the butt of a lacrosse stick and uses it to hit the hood.

The clip presumably was recorded on cellphone by an officer in the cruiser's passenger seat.

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @OPPCommissioner

The male dressed in camouflage soon walks up to the cruiser and chucks a rock at the windshield, which cracks upon impact.

Image source: Twitter video screenshot via @OPPCommissioner

The male in camo also punches the passenger-side window before the first male resumes pounding on the hood — as well as the passenger-side window — with his lacrosse stick.

The whole time the officer on the radio keeps calmly relaying what's going on: "A lacrosse stick is hitting our cruiser."

Finally, when the male with the lacrosse stick returns to the driver-side window to pound it, he appears to take off running as the officer begins to open the door.

Here's the video:

"Protestors falsely blamed #OPP for escalation in #Caledonia," Carrique tweeted. "Extremely proud of my officers for their professional and measured response to keep the peace & preserve life while under attack. Arrests continue as members take responsible and sustained enforcement approach."

What happened next?

What the video doesn't show is that while attempting to arrest the assailants, additional protesters targeted the officers, police told CTV News.

Carrique told the station one protester continued to throw pieces of lumber at police — who responded by firing a single round of a rubber, non-lethal projectile, which struck the demonstrator in the leg, after which the demonstrator fled.

Police told CTV News another officer used a Taser to control an aggressive subject, but added it was ineffective due to the person's heavy clothing.

Cops identified the male with the lacrosse stick, and he will be facing charges, OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt confirmed to CTV News, adding that police are trying to identify the male in camouflage clothing.

'You shoot at the police, expect us to shoot back': Sheriff is fed up with cop haters and abusers

With violence against law enforcement on the rise around the country, a sheriff from Ohio issued a stern warning to all those who think they can get away with it in Butler County: "You shoot at the police, expect us to shoot back."

The throw down came from Sheriff Richard K. Jones, and his Wednesday message referred to "lawlessness in the country over the last few months" directed at cops, including "water dumped on police in New York, bricks and frozen water bottles thrown at police as well as officers blinded by lasers in Portland, Oregon." Jones' message also noted police were shot at in Chicago as well as in other areas.

"I won't tolerate it, period," he added. "You shoot at the police, expect us to shoot back. I will not allow my deputies or any law enforcement officer in Butler County to take the abuse I have seen over the past several months. If you come to this county expecting a free pass to harm one of my men or women in uniform, keep in mind [that] nothing in life is free."

How did folks react?

By all appearances, those who read Jones' warning on Facebook were solidly behind his sentiments:

  • "Every county in the United States needs more sheriffs like this," one commenter said.
  • "I live in Butler County. [Sheriff] Jones is for real. He is a good man. DO NOT mess with him or his department," another commenter warned.
  • "It's about time someone is not afraid to do their job and hold lawbreakers accountable for their actions," another commenter said.
  • "Thank you for caring about your citizens, officers, and our constitutional rights!!!!" another observer wrote. "Jones rocks!"
  • "I like the way he thinks," another commenter said. "Violence in any form against a police officer should not be tolerated, and persons committing harm to a police officer should expect dire consequences. Police officers should be allowed to defend themselves without rebuke."

No problem speaking his mind

Jones doesn't seem to have a problem saying what's on his mind.

After Republican Gov. Mike DeWine made mask-wearing mandatory in July to fight the coronavirus, Jones said he disagreed with the mandate and wouldn't help enforce it.

"I am not the mask police," he noted. "That is not my responsibility. That is not my job. People should be able to make that choice themselves."

He added: "If someone's sick, I can understand the mask-wearing. But for all of us to have our temperature taken, to have to wear a mask, where's it going to stop?"

Kayleigh McEnany smokes reporter for wringing hands over leftists hit by paintballs after ignoring 90 days of Antifa violence in Portland

A reporter on Monday sarcastically asked White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany if supporters of President Donald Trump shooting paintballs at leftists in Portland over the weekend counts as "patriotic activity."

Say what?

For those of you who haven't had the pleasure, here's at least one clip showing a Trump fan in the bed of a pickup truck taking aim at loudmouthed leftists on a Portland sidewalk Saturday — and giving them an instant color makeover.

Pepper spray appeared to be on the menu as well — but you'd think by now they'd have built up an immunity to that.

How did McEnany respond?

Anyway, McEnany was in no mood to entertain the reporter's question based on what she detected as his blatant double standard.

"It's incredible that for 90 days I've stood at this podium talking about officers [who've had] lasers flashed in their eyes in an attempt to blind them, commercial-grade fireworks thrown at them, a church right out here burning down, the people that were harassed and yelled at — [Republican] Sen. Rand Paul, Dan Bongino — right out here, and you're going to ask me about a paintball video when, in fact, for 90 days we've seen horrific violence by Antifa, a radical, anarchist organization," she replied. "I mean, you're going ask about a paintball video I've yet to see and neither has the president."

Despite McEnany trying to get to the next reporter, the paintball inquirer pressed forward: "I'm going to ask you about it, but you maintain that the people who went into the city to conduct that activity —"

And with that, she cut him right off: "Look, there's been 90 days of violence from left-wing anarchists; it's incredible that today is the one time you're interested in violence when it's paintballs — and we don't even know who set off these paintballs — but you fail to ask for 90 days about violence from an anarchist organization because it happens to be on the left."

How did folks react to McEnany's latest media torching?

Like her boss, McEnany doesn't have a thriving fan club among the White House press corps — but Trump supporters sure appreciate her:

  • "I love how @PressSec schools them every single time," one observer noted.
  • "@PressSec is one of the best hires in the history of our country for any administration," another commenter said. "Praying for her and her family — what an incredible woman & mother. Press has no clue how to handle her."
  • "It was fabulous," another commenter noted. "That reporter will have flashbacks forever when he hears the word 'paintball.' She pointed out the contrast perfectly!"
