Elizabeth Warren tries to walk back justification for CEO's killing while Jimmy Kimmel leans into suspect's fandom

The killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson helped once again highlight the left's appetite for ideologically motivated violence. Among the radicals who came out of the woodwork to seemingly justify the targeted Dec. 4 shooting of the father of two was Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D).

The gun-control advocate who has received many financial contributions from the health and insurance industries not only seemed to exploit Thompson's death to make an apparent threat against others like him but sympathized with his alleged killer, telling the HuffPost in an interview Tuesday, "Violence is never the answer, but people can be pushed only so far."

When initially asked about the callous responses to Thompson's death, Warren told HuffPost, "The visceral response from people across this country who feel cheated, ripped off, and threatened by the vile practices of their insurance companies should be a warning to everyone in the health care system."

"Violence is never the answer, but people can be pushed only so far," added the failed presidential candidate. "This is a warning that if you push people hard enough, they lose faith in the ability of their government to make change, lose faith in the ability of the people who are providing the health care to make change, and start to take matters into their own hands in ways that will ultimately be a threat to everyone."

Billy Gribbin, communications director for Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), responded on X, noting, "This statement invents a non-existent connection between the insane murderer and United Healthcare, which did not push this rich kid to do anything, even accidentally. He went crazy and killed someone."

'I should have been much clearer.'

Wall Street Journal film critic Kyle Smith wrote, "Absolutely vile from Elizabeth Warren."

"Really leaning into the 'but' on this one in ways no Democrat has been comfortable doing," tweeted Semafor Washington bureau chief Benjy Sarlin. "No, it is not inevitable that some weird rich kid assassinates an insurance CEO — what is this framing?"

Numerous other critics suggested that the second half of Warren's controversial sentence effectively negates the first, rendering the statement an endorsement for murder. One commentator on X made the point with a similarly formulated statement: "'Rape is never the answer but ... she was dressed provocatively.'"

In the face of incredible backlash online, Warren quickly issued a statement amending her remarks.

Igor Bobic, the author of the HuffPost piece, noted several hours later that Warren had "clarifi[ed] her remarks on the UnitedHealthcare CEO's killing and the response to it," jettisoning the second half of her original statement.

"Violence is never the answer. Period," said Warren. "I should have been much clearer that there is never a justification for murder."

'I would visit him in prison and bake him cookies maybe.'

While the Democratic senator clarified that she actually thinks murder is wrong, fellow travelers continued to relish the bloodletting.

Jimmy Kimmel, who bemoaned the fate of "decency" following President-elect Donald Trump's victory last month, called Thompson's suspected murderer "Time's sexiest alleged murderer of the year" and "the hottest cold-blooded killer in America" on his Disney network show Tuesday. Kimmel also shared messages supposedly penned by producers on his show expressing admiration for Luigi Mangione.

One text message shared on screen said, "I love Luigi." Another message said, "Ppl are saying a NY jury has the power to find him innocent. Bc we all love him." Kimmel also posted a message that read, "I would visit him in prison and bake him cookies maybe."

Kimmel further trivialized the matter on his show the following evening, equating the shooting to a "protest."

The late-night host did, however, acknowledge this week that "sometimes when people identify with why a crime was committed, we lose sight of the reality of that crime."

'It feels like justice in this system.'

Former Washington Post writer Taylor Lorenz was among the radicals who appeared joyful this week about the reality of the crime.

Blaze News previously reported that Lorenz told Piers Morgan of "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on Monday that she "felt, along with so many other Americans, joy" upon learning of Thompson's slaying.

"I take that back. 'Joyful' is the wrong word, Piers," Lorenz later said. "Vindicated, celebratory — because it feels like justice in this system when somebody responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans suffers the same fate as those tens of thousands of Americans who he murdered."

Democrats’ Ghoulish Attacks On Pregnancy Centers Ignore Who Is Really Lying To Women: Planned Parenthood

If the FTC wanted to seriously investigate abortion misinformation, Planned Parenthood would be a good place to start.

Video: Pro-abortion protesters try to storm Arizona state Capitol, lawmakers 'held hostage.' Kari Lake calls the event a 'real insurrection.'

A pro-abortion protest escalated into a tense situation where police had to use tear gas to disperse the mob gathered outside the Arizona state Capitol.

Hours after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday, approximately 8,000 pro-abortion protesters demonstrated outside the Capitol in downtown Phoenix, according to KTAR-FM. The protest began at 7 p.m., and featured protest signs that read: "Keep your Bible off my body," "Why are old men making laws on my body" "forced birth is fascism," "You're killing us," and "my body my rage."

Protesters amassed around the Arizona state Capitol on Friday night – when the state senate was in session.

Shortly before 9 p.m., law enforcement declared the pro-abortion protest an unlawful assembly.

Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake shared a video of the mob outside the Capitol with the caption: "The left is showing everyone what a REAL 'Insurrection' looks like right now in Downtown Phoenix. This is domestic terrorism. The Arizona national guard should have been deployed hours ago, @DougDucey Arrest these animals immediately. They are out for blood."

Republican state Senator Michelle Ugenti-Rita shared a video of protesters slamming on the window.

Department of Public Safety told AZ Family reporter Michael Raimondi, "Our troopers were in the Senate lobby in full view of the rioters as they pounded on the glass. We believe they had every intention of getting inside the senate building."

"Troopers deployed gas outside the Senate building after protesters attempted to break the glass," the Arizona DPS stated. "The crowd then moved to the Wesley Bolin Plaza where some monuments were vandalized. Gas was deployed again to disburse [sic] the crowd."

Arizona state Republicans said, "Pro-abortion protestors violently tried to enter our building. Members/staff/visitors evacuated to a secure location."

Arizona GOP state Senator Kelly Townsend said, "We are currently there being held hostage inside the Senate building due to members of the public trying to breach our security. We smell tear gas and the children of one of the members are in the office sobbing with fear. I expect a J24 committee to be created immediately."

Townsend later said, "Everyone is okay, and we are finishing our work."

Arizona State Republicans stated, "While the Senate is now secure & safe, unfortunately smoke/tear gas has spread into our chambers."

Senate President Karen Fann issued a statement, "We are incredibly thankful for our local law enforcement who quickly intervened during what could have been a destructive and dangerous situation for our members, staff and public inside the Senate."

Kim Quintero – the Republican Caucus’ communications director – noted, "Violent pro-abortion protestors’ attempts of an insurrection at the Arizona State Senate were thwarted Friday night, thanks to the swift actions from local and state law enforcement."

There were numerous violent outbursts during pro-abortion protests in several U.S. cities on Friday night.

Dan Crenshaw blasts House Freedom Caucus members as 'grifters' and 'performance artists'

U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) blasted members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus as "grifters" and "performance artists" at an event with Houston-area Republican congressional candidates on Sunday.

"I've been in Congress for almost three years now. There's two types of members in Congress: There's performance artists, there's legislators," Crenshaw told the audience at a campaign event featuring GOP candidates Wesley Hunt and Morgan Luttrell, a retired Navy SEAL and the twin brother of Marcus Luttrell.

"Now, the performance artists are the ones that get all the attention, the ones you think are more 'conservative' because they know how to say slogans real well. They know how to recite the lines that they know that our voters want to hear," he continued.

Without naming anyone specifically, Crenshaw criticized Freedom Caucus conservatives for voting against some bills that former President Donald Trump and a majority of the House GOP conference supported. He also defended Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), a vocal Trump critic, as a House member that "voted with Trump almost 99%. He was number 2."

"You know who was at the bottom? Everybody in the Freedom Caucus. All of them," Crenshaw said.

"We have grifters in our midst ... I mean in the conservative movement. Lie after lie after lie, because they know something psychologically about the conservative heart — we’re worried about what people are going to do to us, what they’re going to infringe upon us,” Crenshaw said.

Crenshaw's comments drew returning fire from at least one Freedom Caucus member, Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio), who called Crenshaw a "Neo-Conservative" and criticized the Texas Republican's voting record.

"Every actual conservative scorecard exposes these lies. Actual conservatives oppose bankrupting America, spying on Americans, and crony surveillance capitalism," Davidson tweeted.

The Freedom Caucus is a group of GOP lawmakers in the House of Representatives who are generally considered to be among the most conservative Republicans. The group was formed in January 2015 by several members who were first elected in the 2010 Tea Party wave, in response to the perception that more mainstream Republicans weren't keeping the promises made to voters. Its members include several controversial and headline-making lawmakers including Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas).

The group played a key role in opposing former House Speaker John Boehner in 2015, leading multiple efforts to oust him from leadership. The Freedom Caucus also initially opposed the House Republican bill to repeal Obamacare in 2017, whic former President Donald Trump supported, arguing it left too much of the Affordable Care Act intact. Their opposition to the Obamacare repeal bill led Trump to publicly rebuke the caucus on Twitter, going as far to declare "war" on Freedom Caucus members who wouldn't be team players.

But the group became considerably more Trump-friendly after Republicans failed to repeal Obamacare. Former House Freedom Caucus Chairman Rep. Mark Meadows went on to serve as Trump's chief of staff, and the group was described as "Trump's main defender" by the Wall Street Journal during the first impeachment proceedings against Trump.

Liz Warren supported BLM in the background of her DNC video, but liberals slammed her for the 'insulting' stunt

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) attempted to subtly show her support for the Black Lives Matter movement during her speech at the Democratic National Convention, but many liberals on social media were unimpressed.

Warren snuck in foam letters spelling out "BLM" in the background of her video speech, which aired during the conference on the third night ahead of Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) receiving the party's vice presidential nomination.

The progressive senator touted plans in Joe Biden's political platform during her speech and criticized the Trump administration's response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Warren's team confirmed that the message was intentional in a tweet from her official social media account.

While some on the left cheered the insertion of the message of support, others rolled their eyes and criticized it as an empty gesture.

"This was insulting," responded one socialist Twitter user.

"So excited that the allegedly left-leaning party has to hide even moderate positions like #BLM in an I-Spy puzzle during their actual f*****g convention when they are supposed to be talking about actual goals. Yay for meaningless gestures!" said another Twitter user who self-identified as a BLM supporter.

"Until Warren is on the front lines getting brutalized by riot pigs, this is just an infantilizing stunt, trying to coopt the energy of an organic movement," was another response.

"Warren is a sitting senator with real power and you just decided to spend your time decorating a preschool set instead?" replied a socialist feminist.

"[Y]'all going crazy for BLM block letters in the background is exactly why the dems are happy to take your votes and not give you policy," said a socialist organizer.

He added, "y'all love a good performance."

Warren faced similar criticism and mockery earlier in the convention when she was included in the DNC Native American Caucus meeting, despite the well-documented scandal over her spurious claims of Native American heritage.
