Wynonna Judd's daughter avoids prostitution charge, but pleads guilty to other counts for indecent public incident

Wynonna Judd’s daughter avoided a prostitution charge, but did plead guilty to other charges stemming from an alleged incident in Alabama, where she allegedly exposed her breasts and refused to comply with police officers.

Grace Pauline Kelley — Judd's daughter — had been charged with three misdemeanors, including soliciting prostitution, indecent exposure, and obstructing governmental operations in connection with the alleged incident on April 5, according to the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelley, 27, appeared at the Millbrook Municipal Court on Thursday. The prostitution charge was dismissed, and the indecent exposure charge was reduced to the lesser offense of lewd conduct.

Millbrook County Municipal Court Judge Bradley Erdahl sentenced Kelly to 60 days in the Elmore County jail and $1,122 in fines and court costs on a charge of obstructing government operations, court records stated.

Kelley was purportedly given credit for time served in jail and was ordered to serve the remaining days of her 60-day sentence. She had been

Kelley exposed "her breast, buttocks, and genitals" at the busy intersection of Interstate 65 and Highway 14 in Millbrook, according to arrest records. Judd's daughter allegedly refused to identify herself when officers reportedly attempted to arrest her and she refused to comply with the commands of police.

Kelley's public defender, David Musgrove, told Fox News that "the family would like to deal with the situation privately."

"The most serious charges against my client were dismissed," Musgrove said. "The judge was fair with her, and she comported herself well in the courtroom and was polite and respectful with the judge and with the police officers. I expect she will be released before too long."

Wynonna Judd, 59, allegedly did not make an appearance at Kelley's hearing.

As Blaze News previously reported, Kelley allegedly said her mother would not answer her phone calls.

"I think she’s blocked my number," Kelley previously told the New York Post.

Kelley continued, "She wants me to go to rehab. But when I came to jail, I took a drug test, and I passed it. I’m not on drugs. My mom won’t listen to me, she won’t believe me. She thinks I’m out here doing crazy s***."

Kelley has had previous brushes with the law.

In 2017, Kelley pleaded guilty to manufacturing, delivery, sale, and possession of methamphetamine.

In August 2021, she was arrested for a probation violation stemming from a 2016 possession of meth arrest, according to media reports.

In May 2023, Kelley was reportedly arrested on charges that she violated an order of protection and restraining order and violation of parole.

Wynonna Judd Pushed to the Edge After Daughter's Grace Kelley Arrest for Soliciting Prostitution: Re www.youtube.com

Daughter of Wynonna Judd charged with soliciting prostitution: 'Ride for a Ride'

The troubles apparently continue for Grace Kelley, the 27-year-old daughter of country music star Wynonna Judd. According to allegations in a report from the Daily Mail, Kelley recently exposed herself to drivers in Alabama and offered them sexual services in exchange for a "ride" in their car.

On April 5, police received not one but two calls involving Kelley in Millbrook, Alabama, a city some 250 miles south of Kelley's last known address in Franklin, Tennessee. The first caller reported that she was allegedly walking around and waving a sign that read, "A Ride for a Ride," near some area businesses.

When officers met up with Kelley, she became argumentative, insisting that there was nothing "illegal" about prostituting herself "in exchange for rides," Millbrook Police Chief Johnson told the Daily Mail. The officers then instructed her to leave the area, and she seems to have complied.

However, Millbrook police then received a report that Kelley had ventured into a Circle K gas station, causing a disturbance and claiming to have been the victim of a possible robbery.

When officers located Kelley in connection with the second call, she was no longer at the service station. This time, she was standing near the intersection of a highway and an interstate, allegedly flashing her breasts and private areas and waving the suggestive sign again.

"She was not appropriately dressed," Chief Johnson told the Daily Mail. "She didn't have the things covered that needed to be covered. And she was holding the 'Ride for a Ride' sign while she was in that state and with drivers going by, displaying herself."

Johnson described Kelley as "belligerent and argumentative" during her second encounter with police that day, prompting them to place her under arrest. She was initially charged with indecent exposure and obstructing government operations and assessed a $2,000 bond. A charge of soliciting prostitution has since been added, which will likely increase her bond another $1,000. She has a hearing scheduled for later this month.

Even though Kelley was not in possession of drugs or drug-related paraphernalia at the time of her arrest, Johnson attributed at least part of her alleged behavior last week to drug use. "She might not have had drugs on her at the time she was arrested," Johnson said, "but if you look at the booking photo, it hadn't been long."

Kelley has already served time for manufacturing methamphetamine. While out on parole a few years ago, she became pregnant but continued to make several return trips to jail on various drug charges. She gave birth to daughter Kaliyah in 2022.

Though Johnson recognizes the need to enforce the law and protect the community from those under the influence, he also expressed sympathy for Kelley's family, who have watched her life spiral out of control as the result of addiction.

Johnson said he has spoken with Kelley's father, Arch Kelley, who was married to Judd from 1996 to 1998. "He called to check on her and asked the questions you might expect a father to ask about his child," he explained.

Though Wynonna Judd has not called to inquire about her daughter, Johnson suggested Judd may have just reached a breaking point. "This is just my opinion, that [Judd and ex-husband Arch Kelley] tried to help her and to no avail to this point," Johnson said. "There have probably been many attempts on their part to get this young lady help."

Judd has previously referred to Grace Kelley as "the strongest Judd woman in our 'herstory.'" She also took care of granddaughter Kaliyah while Grace was incarcerated. "Wynonna is prepared to take care of Kaliyah if Grace goes back to prison again but is praying that this won't happen," a source told the Daily Mail.

Wynonna and Ashley Judd tearfully commemorate Naomi Judd at Country Music Hall of Fame 1 day after her death: 'I'm sorry that she couldn't hang on'

Musician Wynonna Judd and her sister, actress Ashley Judd, commemorated their mother, country star Naomi Judd, on Sunday as they accepted the Judds' induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Naomi died on Saturday at the age of 76 following a battle with her mental health.

What are the details?

Wynonna — one-half of country music duo the Judds — and her sister, Ashley, appeared on stage during Sunday night's ceremony and accepted the Hall of Fame medal on Naomi's behalf.

"My mama loved you so much," Ashley wept, "and she appreciated your love for her, and I'm sorry that she couldn't hang on until today."

She continued, "Your esteem for her and your regard for her really penetrated her heart, and it was your affection for her that did keep her going in the last years."

"While this is so much about the Judds as a duo, I want to take a moment to recognize my sister, a GOAT," she said, pointing to the acronym that means "greatest of all time."

Wynonna added, "I didn't prepare anything tonight because I knew mom would probably talk the most. I'm gonna make this fast, because my heart's broken, and I feel so blessed. It's a very strange dynamic, to be this broken and this blessed. ... Though my heart’s broken, I will continue to sing, because that’s what we do."

In a Saturday statement on Naomi's passing, Ashley and Wynonna said, "Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”

What else is there to know about this?

In 2016, Naomi told “Good Morning America" host Robin Roberts that she suffered from "extreme" and "severe depression" that often left her homebound.

"[Fans] see me in rhinestones, you know, with glitter in my hair, that really is who I am,” she said at the time. “But then I would come home and not leave the house for three weeks, and not get out of my pajamas, and not practice normal hygiene. It was really bad.”

Naomi also authored 2016 book "River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged with Hope," of which she said, "If I live through this, I want someone to be able to see that they can survive because there are 40 million of us out there."
