Media Silent On Jill Biden’s Hurricane Heels After Melting Down Over Melania Trump’s

First Lady Jill Biden wore similar shoes as Melania Trump did to tour hurricane damage. Only one first lady provoked media outrage.

AOC says capitalism is 'not a redeemable system,' calls for Facebook to be broken up

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said capitalism is "not a redeemable system" for Americans, and represents the "absolute pursuit of profit" at all costs.

"Capitalism at its core, what we're talking about when we talk about that is the absolute pursuit of profit at all human, environmental, and social cost," AOC said during a Yahoo Finance interview on Thursday.

Ocasio-Cortez claimed that capitalism empowers only a "very small group of actual capitalists," who she said "have so much money that their money makes money and they don't have to work."

"They can control industry, they can control our energy sources, they can control our labor, they can control massive markets, that they dictate and can capture governments, and they can essentially have power over the many," AOC said of the small group of "actual capitalists." "And to me, that is not a redeemable system for us to be able to participate in for the prosperity and peace for the vast majority of people."

The New York democratic socialist cited the Koch family, and criticized them for "having control over the vast majority or large plurality of our oil assets in the United States."

"Private families having control over means of production, that is essentially the capitalist system that we live in," AOC told host Andy Serwer. "It is a small group that is of privatized control over what we eat and how we fuel our society."

AOC proclaimed that she wants to break up Facebook, which she accused of having "completely corrosive ways."

"Facebook should be broken up," Ocasio-Cortez declared. "We should pursue antitrust activity on Facebook."

She said Facebook acts as a communication platform, advertiser, platform, and vendor.

"And so because they are so many businesses and industries in one, the case is, I believe, right there in and of itself as to why they should be subject to antitrust activity," she remarked.

AOC blamed Facebook for exporting disinformation, which she said has "absolutely slowed and frankly sabotaged the global effort to fight against the coronavirus."

Serwer asked AOC about why Congress hasn't passed a ban on its members trading stocks.

"Well, it's not it's not really a mystery to me why it's difficult to pass," Ocasio-Cortez responded. "An enormous amount – I wouldn't be surprised if it was a majority of members of Congress hold and trade individual stock. I don't know the actual numbers. But it is a very large degree."

"Members of Congress have access to very sensitive security clearances. We have access to very detailed tailored briefs. Our job is to try to anticipate and legislate for what we see as coming," AOC stated. "And we should not have the ability to both have access to that information and be able to hold and trade individual stock. And that's really what this is about. It's about our ability to direct and hold trades in individual stock with access to the sensitive information that the public has given us."

Yahoo rejects political ad that features the phrase 'Let's Go Brandon,' because the expression 'would be considered overly inflammatory and offensive'

Yahoo is rejecting U.S. Senate hopeful Jim Lamon's advertisement that includes the phrase "Let's Go Brandon."

Fox News reported that it obtained an email exchange in which Yahoo turned down the ad.

"We would not be able to approve this ad due to the use of 'Let's Go Brandon,' which would be considered overly inflammatory and offensive. If that is excluded we would be able to approve it," a Yahoo manager informed TAG Strategies on Wednesday, according to Fox News, "If that is excluded we would be able to approve."

The "Let's Go Brandon" political meme, which is a euphemism for the profane phrase "F*** Joe Biden," rapidly achieved popularity on the political right last year.

The veiled jab at the president had its genesis when a reporter was interviewing NASCAR driver Brandon Brown after Brown had just won a race.

As the reporter was speaking, the crowd was chanting, "F*** Joe Biden."

But the reporter remarked, "you can hear the chants from the, the crowd — let's go Brandon."

"If you are pissed off about the direction of our country, let's go. If you're ready to secure the border and stop the invasion, let's go," Lamon says in the video. "Let's take the fight to Joe Biden and show him we the people put America first. The time is now. Let's go Brandon."

Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly, who entered office in December 2020 after winning a special election the month before, is pursuing a full term in office.

Lamon is just one of the multiple people competing in the Republican Senate primary in Arizona.

Joe Biden warns America's suburbs will be destroyed by 'hellish' fires, floods, and superstorms if 'climate arsonist' Trump is re-elected

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden grimly predicted that "hellish" fires, floods, hurricanes, and superstorms would level and destroy America's suburbs if "climate arsonist" President Donald Trump is re-elected.

What are the details?

The ominous prediction, which came as historic wildfires scorch much of the country's West Coast, sounded like a prophecy out of the Book of Revelation.

The former vice president made the comments during a speech on climate change Monday in Wilmington, Delaware, as the president headed to California to be briefed on the catastrophic fires.

In the speech, though he conceded that Trump didn't directly cause the natural disasters that have plagued America in recent months, Biden suggested that the president's "climate denial" was a contributing factor.

"Donald Trump's climate denial may not have caused these fires and record floods and record hurricanes, but if he gets a second term, these hellish events will continue to become more common, more devastating and more deadly," Biden warned.

"Wildfires are burning the suburbs in the West! Floods are wiping out suburban neighborhoods in the Midwest! Hurricanes are imperiling suburban life along our coast!" he continued, raising his arms and his voice.

"If we have four more years of Trump's climate denial, how many suburbs will be burned in wildfires?" he asked. "How many suburban neighborhoods will have been flooded out? How many suburbs will have been blown away in superstorms? If you give a climate arsonist four more years in the White House, why would anyone be surprised if we have more of America ablaze?"

"We need a president who respects science," Biden suggested. "[A president] who understands that the damage from climate change is already here."

What else?

Trump sparred with officials during his visit to California Monday over the cause of the wildfires and the best course moving forward to prevent them.

The president has suggested that poor forest management has much to do with igniting the fires.

"When trees fall down, after a short period of time ... about 18 months, they become really dry. They become really like a matchstick ... and they just explode," Trump told reporters ahead of the roundtable discussion.

"Also leaves, if you have years of leaves, dried leaves on the ground, it just sets it up," Trump added. "It's really a fuel for a fire. So they have to do something about it."

During the discussion, California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom shot back at the president after acknowledging poor forest management is a part of the problem, noting that 57% of California forests are on land controlled by the federal government.

The governor also pushed back on Trump's perspective that climate change is not the primary cause of fires.

"The hots are getting hotter. The drys are getting drier," Newsom asserted. "Something has happened to the plumbing of the world ... and we submit the science is self evident that climate change is real. Please respect the difference of opinion out there."
