Video: Former VP Mike Pence expertly trolls left-wing Georgetown students protesting his speech — and non-woke students love it

Former Vice President Mike Pence delivered a gut-punch dose of truth to left-wing Georgetown University students protesting his speech on the Washington, D.C., campus Wednesday night — and non-woke students in the crowd loved every word.

What happened?

Video from Young America’s Foundation — the conservative group that hosted Pence's speech — shows dozens of students walking out of the room while Pence speaks and other students in the venue's balcony unfurling a banner reading "reproductive rights are human rights," Fox News reported.

Pence had the perfect response to the walkout: "Seems to me that having served many years in Washington, leaders in this nation’s capital have never been more out of touch, more intent on imposing their agenda — or walking out on people that might have a different point of view."

The crowd that remained in the venue clapped and cheered upon hearing that final zinger:

Better still, the walkout was a double win. YAF told Fox News the departing left-wing crowd made room for students who actually wanted to listen to Pence.

"Campus leftists thought they could successfully derail Vice President Mike Pence’s YAF-sponsored lecture by walking out and displaying signs promoting the left’s radical agenda," YAF spokesperson Nick Baker told the cable network. "Within minutes, they were proven wrong. YAF easily filled the room to capacity with students legitimately interested in hearing Vice President Pence’s pro-freedom message."

Fox News said a Pence representative didn't immediately respond to the cable network's request for comment. Pence did, however, give a shout-out to attendees in a Wednesday-night tweet:

“Thank you @yaf and @GUPolitics! It was great to be at Georgetown tonight with so many great young Americans! 🇺🇸”

"Thank you @yaf and @GUPolitics!" he wrote. "It was great to be at Georgetown tonight with so many great young Americans!"

Anything else?

In his speech, Pence emphasized tolerance and called for the restoration of civil discourse, Fox News said.

"I really do believe you can say to somebody they’ve got bad ideas without saying they’re a bad person," Pence told the audience, according to the cable network. "I hold the view and have for many years that democracy depends on heavy doses of civility."

Pence — who many believe is considering a 2024 presidential run — was cagey when asked during a post-speech interview whether he'd support Donald Trump as president again in 2024, Fox News reported.

"Well, there might be somebody else I prefer more," he said with a smirk, according to the cable network.

"All my focus has been on the midterm elections, and it’ll stay that way for the next 20 days. But after that, we’ll be thinking about the future," Pence added, Fox News said. "Ours and the nation's. And I'll keep you posted. OK?"

Principal calls parents 'whackos,' 'pushy' for speaking out against critical race theory — and apologizes after her emailed insults come to light

An Arizona public school principal issued an apology after calling parents "whackos" and "pushy" for contesting critical race theory, Young America's Foundation reported.

What are the details?

Through a Freedom of Information Act request, the outlet said it obtained internal emails penned by Desert Valley Elementary School Principal Tonja Neve that targeted nearly dozen parents who spoke at a Dec. 10 school board meeting in opposition to a proposed curriculum that would promote elements of critical race theory.

One parent who spoke during the meeting asked the district to "stop diluting student education with politically correct, feel-good propaganda."

Another parent said, "Before the governing school board today is a vote for a new curriculum that appears well-intentioned, appealing, even empathetic. But in actuality it further divides us. ... It's absurd. ... You cannot cure racism with more racism."

What did the principal say?

"That board meeting was ridiculous," Neve wrote in one email dated Feb. 1, YAF said. "I'm sick of us giving these whackos a platform to spread propaganda without making any correction statements."

The outlet also said Neve conferred with Jennifer Mundy, whom YAF said is "one of the architects of the new proposed curriculum," in another Feb. 1 email on how they could "quiet" the "pushy voices" of dissenting parents through a court ruling that "reinforces the power of principals to set boundaries in parent-school communication."

What the the district and the principal have to say?

A Peoria Unified School District spokeswoman told YAF that the district wasn't aware of Neve's "name calling" and followed up with the principal.

The outlet said Neve offered the following statement: "My comments were unprofessional, and I apologize for that ... my comments were in regards to audience members who were coming to our board and calling teachers out by name and misconstruing and devaluing the hard work they do. My comment was made in the heat of the moment and in defense of my profession and colleagues."

She added that she takes "responsibility for what I did wrong," YAF reported.

Anything else?

Turns out Neve was announced in March as the new principal of Main Street School in Exeter, New Hampshire, and that she and her family will move there before she begins her duties July 1.

Mike Pence is launching a podcast

Former Vice President Mike Pence has taken on another gig just weeks after leaving office: podcaster.

What are the details?

Young America's Foundation announced Friday that Pence will join the organization as the Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar, and is set to launch a podcast under that umbrella in the coming months in addition to speaking to campus groups on behalf of the organization once they resume after being put on hold due to COVID-19.

A press release from YAF noted that previous leaders who have spoken on their circuit include former Attorney General John Ashcroft, The Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro, and the late Lady Margaret Thatcher.

"Throughout its 60-year history, Young America's Foundation has been a bulwark of the Conservative Movement, advancing the cause of freedom and ensuring our future leaders embrace America's founding principles and I am honored to join YAF as the Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar," Pence said in a statement.

"Long before I became Vice President to President Donald Trump, the vision and leadership of Ronald Reagan inspired my youth and I am humbled to continue the work of advancing the Conservative cause from a position bearing his name," he continued. "Now more than ever, we need to take the case for freedom, free markets, and traditional values to the rising generation and I look forward to working with the great YAF team to ensure the torch of freedom shines bright for generations to come."

Politico reported:

Hosting a podcast won't be an entirely new venture for Pence, who is 61. A former Indiana governor, he spent a decade prior to his 2000 election to Congress as a prominent conservative radio personality in the Midwest — a trade he then used to launch his political career. His YAF-sponsored show, which will be aimed at a younger audience than the listeners he drew years ago on "The Mike Pence Show," is similar to an arrangement the conservative youth group had with Reagan, then the governor of California, when YAF served as a sponsor for his daily radio commentary in the mid-1970s.

Anything else?

The YAF announcement comes the day after conservative think tank The Heritage Foundation revealed that Pence would be joining the organization as a distinguished visiting fellow.

As TheBlaze previously reported, "Pence will advise Heritage experts on public policy, deliver speeches on policy issues, and write a monthly column for the Daily Signal, a publication of Heritage," in his new role at the Washington, D.C.-based group.
