Is 'white women for Kamala' Zoom call an example of REAL white supremacy?

Kamala Harris’ campaign is attempting to target every group – the youth, the LGBTQ+ crowd (obviously), white men, and now also white women.

In a Zoom call of nearly 170,000 people, including certain celebrities, Kamala Harris hosted a discussion about how white women could best support the vice president in her 2024 presidential campaign.

The call was as cringey as it was glitchy.

As the online discussion cut in and out, white women checked all the woke boxes: They owned their inherent white privilege, they paid homage to the feminist movement, they pointed to the white men who instilled their privilege, and they thanked women of color for their courage to strive for equality.

“As white women, we are the ones that have the privilege, of course, and we too have had to fight and continue to fight for our equality, our selfhood, our freedom, but we have whatever privileges our male white male counterparts have had the mercy and good sense to bestow on us and then whatever else of it we have managed to take for ourselves, often being led by … our sisters of color, who have fought and fought and continue to fight for their righteous place on God's green earth,” actress Connie Britton said, ticking off every leftist talking point.

An influencer by the name of Arielle Fodor also made sure that the right precedent was set prior to opening the floor for speakers: “If you find yourself talking over or speaking for BIPOC [black, indigenous, and people of color] individuals or, God forbid, correcting them – just take a beat and instead we can put our listening ears on. So do learn from and amplify the voices of those who have been historically marginalized and use the privilege you have in order to push for systemic change. As white people we have a lot to learn and unlearn, so do check your blind spots.”

Are you cringing yet?

Glenn Beck and guest Bridget Phetasy certainly are.

“It is actually white supremacy,” Phetasy says of the white women on Kamala’s call. “You have to believe you are better than everyone else and that it is up to you to lift up all of these people – these poor people who can't help themselves – and speak to everybody like they’re toddlers.”

However contradictory the idea is, Phetasy can’t deny that it’s an effective way to rally the people.

“What is more important than saving the world while also somehow humbling yourself and recognizing your privilege?” she asks.

“Is this going to work?” asks Glenn.

Report: Some CNN 'insiders' call Jeffrey Toobin's post-masturbation return to the network 'insane,' 'awkward,' 'inappropriate'

CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin made his high-profile return to the network Thursday after a lengthy leave of absence over being caught masturbating during a Zoom call last fall — and some CNN "insiders" criticized his on-air segment as "awkward," "inappropriate," and even "insane," according to a report from the Daily Beast.

What's the background?

Toobin's faux pas occurred in October during a work call with the New Yorker, for whom he was a veteran staff writer. After his behavior came to light, Toobin lost his New Yorker job — but CNN, for whom he also worked, granted him a leave of absence rather than terminating his employment.

The Daily Beast, citing two people familiar with the matter, reported that Toobin's "friends" embarked on an "aggressive lobbying campaign" to bring him back to the network. The outlet added that CNN head Jeff Zucker also was open to giving Toobin a second chance.

The big day arrives

CNN anchor Alisyn Camerota introduced Toobin by detailing his embarrassing moment and its aftermath. She then pointedly inquired, "What the hell were you thinking?"

"Obviously I wasn't thinking very well or very much," Toobin replied.

He explained that he thought he'd turned off his camera.

"I didn't think I was on the call. I didn't think other people could see me," he said.

Toobin added that it still didn't excuse his behavior and called his actions "deeply moronic and indefensible."

He also told Camerota he'd been in therapy during his leave of absence and did things like working at a food bank and is "trying to be a better person."

The Daily Beast noted that Camerota welcomed Toobin back at the end of the interview and said "many of us have really missed having your legal analysis."

'Insane'

Indeed, the Daily Beast characterized Toobin's return as "cringeworthy" — and the outlet said it spoke to CNN "insiders" who said similar things.

One female CNN staffer said the interview was "a bit inappropriate in terms of a full segment of mea culpa and then a hard pivot to his legal analysis on air," the Daily Beast said, referring to the fact that Toobin also spoke about a current news story during the segment.

The same staffer also said the "general feeling" from co-workers is that while they "trust" the New Yorker's investigation that there weren't similar incidents in Toobin's past, "they also wonder if CNN followed through with an internal probe of its own," the outlet reported.

The Daily Beast said the CNN staffer wondered, "And if so, why weren't we informed?"

Another CNN employee told the outlet Toobin's return was "just awkward" while a different network staff remarked with an "Oof."

More from the Daily Beast:

A person familiar with the matter, meanwhile, pointed out that while there were "mixed feelings" at the network about Toobin's return, he was greeted warmly by those in the newsroom following his interview with Camerota.

"Men and women hugged him after he left the set," the source noted. "They seemed happy he was back. It's invisible if people are grossed out because they wouldn't be the ones to come up to him. The couple dozen in the newsroom seem happy to have him back."

The feeling wasn't shared by other CNN insiders, however. One former CNN contributor said they weren't "surprised" that the network brought Toobin back but that "it's insane they have him on air" after his transgression. Another insider observed that CNN came across as hypocritical.

The Daily Beast also said CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding its story.

Special education teacher chases off knife-wielding robber during Zoom call with student's family

A special education teacher in Ohio was able to chase away a convicted felon who robbed her at knifepoint last month while she was on a Zoom call with a student's family.

Amanda Zupancic, who teaches at Kirtland Local Schools near Cleveland, was at home alone at around 11 a.m. local time on Nov. 23 when she heard glass shattering during an online session with a middle school student and his mother, WEWS-TV reported.

"I heard a glass shattering crash downstairs," she recalled to the local news outlet. "[And] I was like, hold on, I think someone is breaking into my house, just joking. I didn't think anyone would be breaking into my house in the middle of the day."

But her first thought turned out to be correct. A convicted felon who had just been released from prison 36 days before had broken into her home and was rummaging through things downstairs.

"There was a man walking though my baby gate with a knife in his hand walking upstairs," said Zupancic, who has a one-year-old child with her husband. "He started threatening me, yelling at me, calling me names. He grabbed me upstairs into my bedroom."

Thankfully, the student's dad was able to call 911 and describe the situation while Zupancic tried to protect herself from the intruder, later identified as Charles Derosett.

"The teacher that teaches my son, somebody broke into her house, we saw it on the Zoom," he explained to emergency operators. "I guess she heard the man say, 'Get on the floor. I'm going to cut your f-ing throat.'"

Zupancic told the burglar that he could have her car keys, but that she would have to go downstairs and retrieve them. He agreed. But instead of fetching the keys, Zupancic smartly unleashed her two dogs.

"When I reached for my keys, instead I opened the gate and I have a German shepherd and a Great Dane-boxer mix. So the German Shepherd stood between myself and this guy, and the Great Dane-boxer mix went at him," she said.

The move gave her enough time to spring into further action, grabbing a pair of scissors and chasing the burglar out the door.

"I started chasing him with this pair of scissors, in my house shoes, down the street, yelling 'help me, help me, this guy robbed me,'" she recalled.

According to Zupancic, a contractor working on a nearby house saw the incident and tackled the burglar to the ground, detaining him until police arrived to arrest him.

"This individual needs to be taken off the street," Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley told WJW-TV. "Our county is not safe with him out again, he is out for 36 days and breaking into occupied homes. He needs to go back to prison."

It was not immediately clear what Derosett had been in prison for prior to his release.

Zupancic is still a bit shaken up from the incident, but said she is "lucky that there's enough loving people in the world to figure this all out."
