15-year-old human smuggling suspect leads Texas police on high-speed chase in car full of other illegal immigrants near US-Mexico border

A 15-year-old human smuggling suspect from Mexico led Texas police on a high-speed chase in a car full of other illegal immigrants near the U.S.-Mexico border Tuesday.
What happened?
The incident took place in Mission, a Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman said. Mission is just west of McAllen on the border.
Trooper vehicle dashcam video caught the chase from beginning to end, some of it along U.S. Route 83 in Hidalgo County, the spokesman said.
The 15-year-old driver turned off a main road and attempted to evade police through a dirt road, the spokesman said. However, video shows the driver and seven other illegal immigrants bailing out of the vehicle along the dirt road and running toward brush; the clip also shows what appears to be another vehicle further in the distance down the dirt road — presumably another police vehicle — parked sideways and blocking passage.

Three occupants bailed out from the driver's side, and five occupants bailed out from the passenger side. All eight were apprehended, the spokesman said.

The driver was charged with smuggling of persons and evading arrest, the spokesman said, adding that he was processed and booked into juvenile detention.
The other seven illegal immigrants were referred to U.S. Border Patrol, the spokesman said.
How are folks reacting?
A number of commenters on Twitter greeted the news with rather dark humor:
- "Kid actually use[d] turn signal," one commenter quipped. "Might have a future with Uber or delivering pizzas in a few years."
- "Could [have] planned that one better," another user mocked.
- "Joe Biden, look at your accomplishments," another commenter declared.
- "So now he gets 3 meals a day and air [conditioning]," another user noted.
Others were angry:
- "It’s an adult crime; he should do adult time," another commenter wrote.
- "Why blur the suspect’s face?" another user wondered. "He’s a Mexican national, and who knows his real age? Also he’ll be let out and be doing it again tomorrow."

Like 'pitting a child against' big tech: Surgeon General says 13 is 'too early' for kids to be on social media

United States Surgeon General Vivek Murthy says that social media is doing a "disservice" to children by allowing them to use the platforms at such a young age, telling CNN that he believes 13 years old is too young to be using the apps.
"These rules around age are inconsistently implemented," said Murthy, who says 13-year-olds are still developing their identity.
Social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram allow 13-year-olds to use their products, but the surgeon general says that parents should band together to keep children off the addictive sites at such a developmental stage.
“If parents can band together and say you know, as a group, we’re not going to allow our kids to use social media until 16 or 17 or 18 or whatever age they choose, that’s a much more effective strategy in making sure your kids don’t get exposed to harm early,” he told CNN.
Senator Chris Murphy (D-Ct.) shared Murthy's sentiments, longing for person-to-person interactions as opposed to communication through screens:
“We have lost something as a society, as so much of our life has turned into screen-to-screen communication, it just doesn’t give you the same sense of value and the same sense of satisfaction as talking to somebody or seeing someone."
Despite telling CNN that lawmakers could make a difference, Sen. Murphy does not appear to have introduced any legislation regarding this matter.
However, in 2018, Murphy called for platforms like YouTube and Facebook to be more restrictive and asked them to "do more" in terms of content moderation, claiming that the "survival" of democracy depended on it.
“Infowars is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart. These companies must do more than take down one website. The survival of our democracy depends on it.”— Chris Murphy (@Chris Murphy) 1533590764
Murphy, speaking to CNN, likened regulating social media to passing laws that make cars safer, saying "when we had dangerous vehicles on the road, we passed laws to make those vehicles less dangerous.”
The surgeon general, referring to social media algorithms, said it is not a fair fight between big tech and children.
“If we tell a child, use the force of your willpower to control how much time you’re spending, you’re pitting a child against the world’s greatest product designers,” Murthy said.
“I, personally, based on the data I’ve seen, believe that 13 is too early. … It’s a time where it’s really important for us to be thoughtful about what’s going into how they think about their own self-worth and their relationships, and the skewed and often distorted environment of social media often does a disservice to many of those children,” he remarked.
Vice Admiral Vivek Murthy was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in March 2021 as the 21st surgeon general of the United States.

Georgia AG tells Atlanta media to stop referring to rioters as 'protesters': 'Peaceful protesters use words ... rioters set police cars on fire'

Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr told media members in Atlanta to stop referring to the "Cop City" rioters as "protesters" amid lawlessness in the city this weekend.
"To the Atlanta Media: Peaceful protestors use words. Rioters smash windows, set police cars on fire & shoot law enforcement officers" Carr tweeted Saturday. "Stop calling these people protesters."
“To the Atlanta Media:

Peaceful protestors use words.

Rioters smash windows, set police cars on fire & shoot law enforcement officers.

Stop calling these people protesters.

@FOX5Atlanta @ajc @wsbtv @11Alive @gpbnews
@GBI_GA @ga_dps @AtlantaPolice”— Chris Carr (@Chris Carr) 1674345372
Carr issued hashtags linked to local stations WAGA-TV, WSB-TV, WXIA-TV, GPB News, as well as to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper.
What's the background?
Multiple videos showed rioting Saturday amid a protest over a fatal police shooting at the future Atlanta Public Safety Training Center nicknamed "Cop City." Activist Manuel Esteban Paez Teran — who called himself "Tortuguita" — allegedly shot a Georgia State Patrol trooper, after which, law enforcement returned fire, killing Teran, who was 26.
The protest for Teran turned violent within an hour as rioters launched fireworks and threw large rocks at the Atlanta Police Foundation building in downtown Atlanta. Two police cruisers were set on fire, bricks were thrown at other APD vehicles, and windows of local businesses were smashed.

What did media outlets do?
Media outlets, while acknowledging the rioting, still emphasized that the protest began as "peaceful."
NPR, for example, wrote that "the initial hour of the demonstration had been peaceful ..."
A WAGA-TV reporter — narrating during a live video showing a vehicle fire raging in the background — said "it was a largely peaceful protest":

Freelance journalist David Peisner raised the question to CNN — as videos of the chaos in Atlanta flashed onscreen — if property destruction can be considered violence.
"I think that there’s a real blurring of the lines in the use of the word 'violence.' Is property destruction violence? To some people it certainly is. But, you know, this idea that breaking windows or other acts of property destruction are the same as actual violence against humans, it’s kind of a dangerous and slippery concept," Peisner said.
He continued: "Look, I don't think this is a smart move. I don't think it's a productive move from the standpoint of the protesters, but as the chief himself said, this is a small group ... you keep using these words ‘violent, violent, violent, violent' ... the only acts of violence against people that I saw were actually police tackling protesters."

Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp tweeted Saturday that "violence and unlawful destruction of property are not acts of protest. They are crimes that will not be tolerated in Georgia and will be prosecuted fully."

Viral video: 3 hospitalized after Ohio woman terrorizes travelers and airline workers, assaults police at Atlanta airport

A viral video of a woman terrorizing travelers and workers with a fire extinguisher at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in Georgia has been viewed millions of times.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a woman from Ohio ate at a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant at the airport and ran out on the bill, according to Newsweek.
Jennifer Kaye Holder, 27, of Dayton, Ohio, allegedly made her way to the Delta Airlines Gate D9. That's where she purportedly attempted to open the secured doors to a jetway but was unsuccessful because she didn't know the security code.
A Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport worker was heard telling Holder, "You can't go out that door, ma'am."
The woman screamed, "I'm from Dayton, we murder everybody every day."
The Ohio woman was then seen walking down the concourse hallway while wielding a fire extinguisher. As an airport worker attempted to get close to Holder, she was seen on video spraying him in the face with the fire extinguisher.
The man recording the video noted, "She's a terrorist."
She contemplated exiting from another gate. However, airline employees rushed to close the jetway door, and the woman sprayed them with the fire extinguisher. She then sprayed the entire gate with the fire extinguisher to the point that there was extremely limited visibility because of the thick cloud.
The man recording the video said the chemicals tasted "nasty."
In the last seconds of the video, it appeared that a police officer was running toward the suspect.
Fox 5 Atlanta reported that the woman sprayed police officers when they attempted to take her into custody. Police said that Holder continued to "behave erratically and combative, by spitting and kicking at officers."
Atlanta Police Department officers were eventually able to take the woman into custody and booked her into the Clayton County Jail after she was treated for self-sustained minor injuries.
Holder was charged with obstructing law enforcement officers, two counts of simple assault, and three counts of simple battery, according to online jail records.
Three flight attendants were hospitalized with respiratory issues from being sprayed with the fire extinguisher, according to Delta Airlines.
A Delta Airlines spokesperson said the woman's behavior was "unacceptable," and she would "not be welcome on future Delta flights."
The spokesperson added, "Delta is grateful for our people — the best in the business — who quickly addressed the evolving situation, and the first responders who ensured the safety of employees and customers following this incident."
The viral video has been viewed more than 2.3 million times on one Twitter video alone.

Reporter spins inflation numbers to claim 'disinflation' is happening. But the truth quickly catches up.

A reporter tried to spin the latest inflation report, claiming it shows that "disinflation" is happening. But the reporter excluded a key metric that disproved his own claim.
What did the reporter claim?
To claim that "disinflation" is happening, Associated Press reporter Chris Rugaber excluded the price of shelter, a metric that is included in the Bureau of Labor Statistics' calculation of "core inflation."
"There is finally some disinflation happening. One key metric — prices excluding food, energy, and shelter: DOWN 0.1% in October from September, first monthly decline since May 2020," Rugaber tweeted.
"Y-o-y still up 5.9%, the lowest since Nov. 2021," he noted.
“There is finally some disinflation happening.

One key metric - prices excluding food, energy, and shelter: DOWN 0.1% in October from September, first monthly decline since May 2020.

Y-o-y still up 5.9%, the lowest since Nov. 2021.”— Chris Rugaber (@Chris Rugaber) 1668087562
The latest measure of the consumer price index showed that year-over-year inflation rose by 7.7% in October and 0.4% from September to October.
So-called "core inflation" — which excludes volatile energy and food prices — rose 6.3% year over year and 0.3% from September.
Rugaber was swiftly called out for excluding the price of shelter from his tweet. While the price of shelter was a significant contributor to inflation in October, the metric is included in calculations of "core inflation." Excluding it provides a false picture of inflation.
- "This is quite the spin. I always appreciate people looking for a silver lining. That being said. The draw from shelter, energy, and food is forcing non-spending in other areas," another person pointed out.
- "Minus the 3 most important things people use everyday we’re down an amount no one will be able to feel. Great news everyone!!!!" another person said.
- "My batting average in High School was .925 if you exclude pop flies and groundouts," one person mocked.
- "Excluding food and shelter... so prices dropped on goods people buy with expendable income? Likely because people have less so they had to, not any positive indicator. How is this a good thing other than cherry picking for political reasons?" another person said.
- "The crime rate is 0% if you exclude crime," another person mocked.
Was there any improvement?
October's inflation numbers are slightly better than most expert predictions, but still they show an overheated economy.
Inflation in some areas decreased — airfare, apparel, used cars — but the "improvements" are only a mirage, according to Bankrate chief financial analyst Greg McBride.
"If this constitutes improvement, we’ve set a very low bar," McBride said, Yahoo News reported. "The pervasiveness of price increases remains problematic."
"The areas posting declines are for the most part either irregular or more discretionary in nature — airfare, used cars, and apparel," McBride explained. "Any meaningful relief for household budgets is still somewhere over the horizon."
Horowitz: The hurricane hoax being used to peddle climate fascism

To have an average number of hurricanes during hurricane season is now deemed a cataclysmic consequence of the myth of man-made global warming climate change. In the latest display of our fact-free political discourse, the fact that we have had fewer hurricanes over the past half-century now equals more hurricanes and is the result of your favorite SUV. Verifiable data points simply don’t matter any more, but that should not stop us from publicizing them to debunk the new religion of ScienceTM.
After the media failed to find a way to criticize Governor DeSantis’ highly competent response to Hurricane Ian, they sought to blame conservatives in general for the existence of hurricanes. From day one, they sought to groom an entire generation of youngsters into believing that the landfall of a major hurricane in the tropics during hurricane season was somehow abnormal and portended an ominous trend that will kill us, unless of course we pay the ransom to Agenda 2030. This culminated with Biden’s press conference in Lee County, Florida, on Wednesday, where he said, "The one thing that has finally ended is the discussion about whether or not there is climate change."
Well, he is right that the weather is always changing. However, now they would have you believe that the first devastating hurricane in Florida really since Andrew in 1992 somehow portends a trend, when in fact no such trend exists, much less proof that humans cause hurricanes. Unlike other theories about anthropogenic global warming that rely on complicated and unverifiable theories, there are a finite number of hurricanes each year, and it’s quite easy to count their total numbers, the number that hit the U.S., and their intensity.
Even the global-warming-crazed NOAA put out a statement noting the obvious: “After adjusting for a likely under-count of hurricanes in the pre-satellite era,” wrote NOAA in a special statement last week on global warming and hurricanes, “there is essentially no long-term trend in hurricane counts. The evidence for an upward trend is even weaker if we look at U.S. landfalling hurricanes, which even show a slight negative trend beginning from 1900 or from the late 1800s.” In fact, the agency goes on to predict a 25% decrease in the overall number of Atlantic hurricanes and tropical storms based on its ever-trusty computer models, which undoubtedly, will then lead to the world blaming “climate change” for the lack of hurricanes.
Well, there are certainly more hurricanes making landfall, right? I mean, we hear about them in the news. Not at all. Despite the fact that south Florida is precariously sticking down into hurricane alley, Ian was only the sixth major hurricane to hit south Florida since 1965. As meteorologist Joe Bastardi observes, there were 16 hits south of Tampa/Cape Canaveral during the previous 50 years.
“Since 1965 this will be the sixth major hurricane to hit the Florida peninsula south of a Cape Canaveral to Tampa line The 50 years previous to 1965 there were 16”— Joe Bastardi (@Joe Bastardi) 1664320035
Indeed, as our hearts go out to the residents of southwest Florida, Floridians have actually largely escaped danger over the past few decades, especially in the southeast part of the state, which has essentially not had a major catastrophic blow since 1992.
In 2020, Forbes published data from the past 50 years of global landfalls of tropical cyclones of hurricane strength, based on the Saffir-Simpson hurricane scale use by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. As anyone who looks at the chart can see plainly, “There are a lot of ups and downs in the data, but no obvious trends.”
Well, what about the intensity? All that human global warming must be juicing up the rapid intensification of these storms, right? Wrong again! Meteorologist student Chris Martz put together data from 1980 showing there is absolutely no trend other than the trend of news coverage.
“Let's set the record straight:

• Global hurricane occurrence has ⬇️ slightly since 1980. NO trend in landfalls (Weinkle et al. 2012, updated)

• NO trend in global ACE since 1980.

• NO significant ⬆️ 30-kt rapid intensification events (Klotzbach et al., 2021, SI attachment).”— Chris Martz (@Chris Martz) 1664643743
Martz also gathered the list of all 15 Cat 4/5 hurricanes that have hit Florida, quite a verifiable data point. Spot the trend?
“As a simple fact-check, I accessed the NOAA HURDAT database and tabulated all 15 hurricanes to landfall in Florida as a C4 or 5. In the sample, 10 occurred at or before 1960, five of which made landfall between 1945 and 1950. Those saying it's the “new norm” are full of crap.”— Chris Martz (@Chris Martz) 1664424808
And overall, hurricanes are actually hitting the U.S. coasts less frequently in recent decades.
“Since 1851, there has been no significant trend in the number of U.S. landfalling major hurricanes by decade. But, what I guarantee you didn't know is that since the 1930s and 1940s, major landfalls have 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 by more than 35%.”— Chris Martz (@Chris Martz) 1664770884
Well, surely the hurricanes must be forming earlier, giving them greater momentum? Nope.
“There is absolutely no evidence that hurricanes are forming earlier today than they did 100 years ago. Why peddle misinformation?”— Chris Martz (@Chris Martz) 1664828043
What about tornadoes? Not that either.
“U.S. EF1-EF5 tornado counts by year since 1954. There hasn't been an EF5 in over 9 years, the longest stretch on record. No overall trend in tornado counts.”— Chris Martz (@Chris Martz) 1664807948
OK, these events have always gone on since the dawn of time, but aren’t hurricanes becoming more intense? Didn’t the Washington Post tell us that “climate change is rapidly fueling super hurricanes”? The New York Times warns that this is particularly a problem with Atlantic hurricanes. Again, even the NOAA admits that claim is a hoax:
“After adjusting for changes in observing capabilities (limited ship observations) in the pre-satellite era, there is no significant long-term trend (since the 1880s) in the proportion of hurricanes that become major hurricanes.” Which is why the NOAA paper concludes “that the historical Atlantic hurricane data at this stage do not provide compelling evidence for a substantial greenhouse warming-induced century-scale increase in: frequency of tropical storms, hurricanes, or major hurricanes, or in the proportion of hurricanes that become major.”
Part of how the media is able to get away with the hurricane hoax is because the devastation from hurricanes making landfall is worse today, thanks to the buildup along our coastline of expensive edifices that weren’t there in previous generations. While the U.S. population has grown 4.4-fold since 1900, the Florida coastal population has grown by a factor of 68!
“The Expanding Bull’s-Eye Effect: When discussing hurricane damages, we’ve got to account the increasing number of people living by the coast.

Read more in my peer-reviewed article: https://t.co/CC0h7JKIKv”— Bjorn Lomborg (@Bjorn Lomborg) 1664797514
We can debate the policies surrounding coastal buildup and flood insurance, but it’s clear the devastation created by hurricanes has nothing to do with us raising cows for beef or driving SUVs. Simply put, the more humans there are on the earth and the more infrastructure built, the more costly any natural disaster will grow over time.
The global elites understand that most people have a short attention span. They use world catastrophes while they have a captive audience to create the illusion of scientific trends and try to retroactively implant them in people’s minds as if they were scientifically inevitable because of some human behavior they don’t like. Facts simply don’t matter.
In the irony of all ironies, Gov. DeSantis was criticized by the media for not focusing on a Ft. Myers-based evacuation when the computer models had the bull’s-eye headed farther north just a day earlier. So with a hurricane 12 hours away, the fancy computer models couldn’t predict exactly where it would land and who needed to evacuate. Yet somehow, they can predict with certainty the global average temperatures and weather phenomena for 100 years and know the exact cause and course of action needed, too.
Sadly, as we face the same inevitable baseline of natural disasters we always did, with no ability to stop them, the climate fascists will strip us of the energy resources that make it possible for people to better live through droughts, heat, cold, and storms and leave us with energy sources that are dangerous and vulnerable during times of peril.
“There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start. That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before. At least on this kind of scale. #HurricaneIan”— Jimmy Patronis (@Jimmy Patronis) 1665071533

Leftists openly promote and even celebrate abortion and LGBTQ ideology.
Some Democrats described it as a "dark day" for the nation earlier this year when the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade and returned to states the authority to determine how to handle the issue of abortion and whether to ban the practice.
Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said in a tweet on Monday that she "will fight like hell to defend access to abortion in Michigan."
Last week, the left-wing Women's March movement noted that it is not only pro-choice, but also "proudly, unapologetically pro-abortion."

'I am now cancer-free': Sarah Huckabee Sanders announces that she underwent surgery for thyroid cancer

Republican Arkansas gubernatorial candidate Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that she had her thryroid and some lymph nodes extracted on Friday after learning earlier this month that she had thyroid cancer.
"During a check-up earlier this month, my doctor ordered a biopsy on an area of concern in my neck and the test revealed that I had thyroid cancer," Sanders said in a statement on Friday. "Today, I underwent a successful surgery to remove my thyroid and surrounding lymph nodes and by the grace of God I am now cancer-free. I want to thank the Arkansas doctors and nurses for their world-class care, as well as my family and friends for their love, prayers, and support. I look forward to returning to the campaign trail soon. This experience has been a reminder that whatever battle you may be facing, don't lose heart. As governor, I will never quit fighting for the people of our great state."
Sanders, who is the daughter of former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, served as White House press secretary during a portion of former President Donald Trump's tenure in office. Trump has endorsed her for governor.
"Sarah is currently recovering from surgery in which we removed her thyroid gland and some of the surrounding lymph nodes in her neck," Dr. John Sims said in a statement. "The surgery went extremely well, and I expect her to be back on her feet even within the next 24 hours. This is a Stage I papillary thyroid carcinoma which is the most common type of thyroid cancer and has an excellent prognosis. While she will need adjuvant treatment with radioactive iodine, as well as continued long term follow up, I think it's fair to say she's now cancer free, and I don't anticipate any of this slowing her down."
In a statement, Chris Jones, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate running against Sanders during the 2022 contest, and his family offered their well-wishes for Sanders.
"Our hearts go out to you, Sarah. Our family is thinking of you and praying for you and your family. It's truly a blessing that you caught this cancer early and were able to receive world-class treatment so quickly. From one family of Arkansans to another, we send you hope, love, and healing," the Jones family said in the statement. "Our family has been on this journey before and, while it's not easy, we know personally the power of prayer, the healing hand of God, and the strength that comes from being surrounded by community. May you have an abundance of all in this season. We wish you a successful recovery. God bless."

Queen Elizabeth II passes away at 96 – the longest-reigning British monarch

The longest-reigning monarch in British history, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away on Thursday at 96 years old, Buckingham Palace announced.
The queen's eldest son and former Prince of Wales, Charles, is now the king.
A statement on the official website of the royal family read, "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
The Union Jack flag outside Buckingham palace was lowered to half-staff in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
On Thursday morning, a royal spokesman announced, "Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."
The news outlet noted that an update about the queen's health was rare and suggested the situation was likely serious.
In response to the news, the family immediately rushed to be with the queen in her final moments.
ITV News Royal Editor Chris Ship posted on Twitter that all four of Queen Elizabeth II's children traveled to be by her bedside.
“All the Queen’s four children are now with her at Balmoral Castle. Along with her grandson, the Duke of Cambridge.
This is a serious situation.
#queen #queenelizabeth”— Chris Ship (@Chris Ship) 1662641021
The queen was scheduled to virtually attend a Privy Council meeting on Wednesday but canceled the appearance due to doctors' recommendations.
On Tuesday, Queen Elizabeth II met with Boris Johnson and new Prime Minister Liz Truss at Balmoral Castle. Photographs from the meeting show the queen smiling as she meets with Truss in the drawing room. The queen appeared alert but frail, with significant bruising on her hand.
