Dem screams at 'gutless' Republicans in halls of Congress over guns — then Rep. Massie confronts him with truth

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) confronted Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday over his accusation that "coward" Republicans are "gutless" and are responsible for schoolchildren being murdered.

As lawmakers departed the House floor after evening votes, Bowman stopped in the hall where reporters had gathered and began shouting at his Republican colleagues.

"They're cowards! They're all cowards! They won't do anything to save the lives of our children at all. Cowards!" Bowman screamed. "Question them. Force them to respond to the question, 'Why the hell don't you do anything to save America's children?' And let them explain that all the way up until Election Day on 2024."

While other lawmakers ignored Bowman's tirade, Massie stopped and challenged him.

"You know, there's never been a school shooting in a school that allows teachers to carry," Massie told Bowman.

"Carry guns? More guns lead to more death! More guns lead to more death!" Bowman screeched. "Look at the data — you're not looking at any data!"

Bowman, who inched closer to Massie's face, accused him of "carrying water" for the gun lobby. He also argued that states with legal open carry have "more death." He did not, however, provide any data to prove his claim. Instead, he just shouted over Massie each time the Republican lawmaker tried engaging with him.

“Rep. Jamaal Bowman and Rep. Thomas Massie just got in something of a shouting match off the House floor over gun control”
— Emily Brooks (@Emily Brooks) 1680129706

When Bowman repeatedly asked Massie if he has worked in a school like himself, Massie tried to defuse the situation and talk to the media. But Bowman accosted him by putting his hands on Massie several times and demanded that Massie continue to engage with him despite his refusal to stop screaming. At one point, Bowman even tried to block Massie from the media and shouted over him.

Finally, Massie was able to make his point as Bowman walked away.

He told reporters that schoolchildren deserve the same type of protection as members of Congress, referring to armed security. He also pointed out that there has never been a shooting on a school campus where there are armed security personnel.

Indeed, while there is inconclusive scientific data proving armed security on school campuses improves safety, Massie is correct: There has never been a mass shooting at a school where teachers are armed.

Instead, killers often target schools because they are "soft targets," places where guns are explicitly prohibited. The perpetrator of the Nashville massacre even chose the Covenant School, in part, because there was less security at the school than other potential targets she considered for her rampage.

Anything else?

Bowman later celebrated his outburst on social media by, once again, attacking Republicans.

"Republicans won't do S*** when it comes to gun violence, but try to tell me to calm down. NO. We can't calm down. People are dying everyday while we wait," he said on Twitter.

AP Stylebook recommends against 'dehumanizing 'the' labels,' like 'the French,' then deletes post due to 'inappropriate reference to French people'

The Associated Press Stylebook's Twitter account has deleted a tweet that used the term "the French."

The post suggested that writers should avoid using "the" in front of words describing groups of people, advising against phrases such as "the French."

"We recommend avoiding general and often dehumanizing 'the' labels such as the poor, the mentally ill, the French, the disabled, the college-educated. Instead, use wording such as people with mental illnesses. And use these descriptions only when clearly relevant," the now-deleted post read.

But the Associated Press has said that including the phrase "the French" was not appropriate — ironically, while issuing the mea culpa, the AP still included the supposedly unacceptable phrase: "The use of 'the French' in this tweet by @AP was inappropriate and has caused unintended offense. An updated tweet is upcoming."

"We deleted an earlier tweet because of an inappropriate reference to French people. We did not intend to offend," the APStylebook account tweeted. "Writing French people, French citizens, etc., is good. But 'the' terms for any people can sound dehumanizing and imply a monolith rather than diverse individuals."

The now-deleted post caught the attention of the French Embassy in the U.S., which posted a screenshot in which it had typed "Embassy of Frenchness in the US" into the name form on its Twitter profile editing box.

Heartwarming: Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas participates in wreath laying at Arlington National Cemetery

Journalist Emily Miller posted a photo of herself with Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas at Arlington National Cemetery, noting that Thomas was there to lay wreaths.

"Love how Justice Clarence Thomas quietly lays wreaths with all the other volunteers every year at Arlington National Cemetery for #wreathsacrossamerica to honor those who have the ultimate sacrifice," Miller tweeted, adding in another tweet that Thomas takes part to "honor the fallen and spend time supporting Gold Star families at Arlington."

— Emily Miller (@Emily Miller) 1671291921

Miller noted that Thomas was not aware that she had posted the photo of him online. "He has no idea I posted this. I've been doing this with him for years," she tweeted.

"We were in the same group that is organized every year by a veteran named Frank," Miller wrote in a piece about the photo and Thomas's participation in the annual event. "The only people I’ve seen figure out who Justice Thomas really is during these events are the Gold Star family members he talks to honor and support them privately," she wrote. "Know that his top-notch security detail was there and blended in well with the crowds."

Miller highlighted a photo that she had posted in 2016 that also showed Thomas at the wreath laying, though in that tweet, she had not drawn attention to the fact that Thomas appeared in the photo.

Rep. Jerry Nadler beats Rep. Carolyn Maloney in New York Democratic primary

Rep. Jerry Nadler decisively defeated Rep. Carolyn Maloney in a New York Democratic primary that the two long-serving liberal lawmakers had been battling to win.

The two legislators ended up running against each other due to redistricting.

"Well New York…we did it! I'm so deeply grateful for your continued support and trust—I promise to keep on fighting for New Yorkers in Congress. Onwards!" Nadler tweeted on Tuesday night.

“Well New York…we did it!

I’m so deeply grateful for your continued support and trust—I promise to keep on fighting for New Yorkers in Congress. Onwards!”
— Jerry Nadler (@Jerry Nadler) 1661308167

Republican Michael Zumbluskas will be competing against Nadler during the general election later this year.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York had endorsed Nadler earlier this month.

"New York has a lot of outstanding leaders but few of them lead with the courage, conviction, and brilliant legislative effectiveness of my friend, Jerry Nadler. Having worked alongside Jerry for years, I've watched as time after time, Jerry —a critical partner of mine in the House — was right on the issues years before so many others," Schumer said in a statement.

— Emily Ngo (@Emily Ngo) 1660590561

The New York Times reported that Schumer spokesperson Angelo Roefaro noted that the senator had "deep respect for Carolyn Maloney's significant accomplishments in Congress."

Maloney's loss means that the congresswoman will depart from Congress at the end of her current term after having served 30 years in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Maloney has been openly supportive of Drag Queen Story Hour, which involves cross dressers reading books to children.

"I had the honor of assisting with a Drag Queen Story Hour in New York in April," Maloney tweeted in June. In April, the congresswoman declared in a tweet that because of the New York Public Library "and programs like Draq Queen story hour, NYC's next generation are getting a well rounded education about LGBTQ+ issues and gender identity."

Horowitz: Why masks don’t work in the real world

There is not a single place on earth where masks appear even to have slowed the spread of the virus, which appears hell-bent on cutting through every population until the herd immunity threshold is met. None of this should have surprised us.

How many people do you know who always wear their masks fully clamped to their faces like a respirator? Well, there are very few people who can afford to pass out after hours of oxygen deprivation. That, in a nutshell, is why mask mandates are useless against a virus, even before we examine the fact that the pores in the mask fibers are much larger than the virus itself.

Stephen Petty, one of the most experienced certified industrial hygienists and exposure experts in the country, sent me the following chart based on new research on mask filtration (Drewnick, et al.). It demonstrates that if just 3.2% of the mask space is open, the efficacy of the mask goes down to zero!

As you can see, with just 2% of the mask area open, 80% of the particles under 2.5 microns will escape. Based on that study, Petty extrapolates that masks will be 100% ineffective in blocking any particles that small when the open area reaches 3.2%.

What people forget is that aside from the size of the pores in the fabric, very few people actually wear masks the way they test them in labs or on mannequins. As Petty points out, based on a new study of filtration leakage in masks from 44 different materials, most of the seepage comes out through the sides because the molecules always travel the path of least resistance.

"Measurements with defined leaks showed that already a small fractional leak area of 1–2% can strongly deteriorate total FE," concluded the German study published last October in Aerosol Science and Technology. "This is especially the case for particles smaller than 5 mm diameter, where FE dropped by 50% or even two thirds."

The study goes on to explain that because "surgical masks as well as cloth masks never have a perfect fit on the face," it is "one of the main reasons why in studies investigating filter efficiencies of masks under real life conditions for surgical masks" the efficacy is "significantly lower" than what we see with form-fitted N95s. It's also likely the reason why filtration studies in a lab show some degree of efficacy but not a single randomized controlled trial (RCT) has demonstrated efficacy of these masks against viruses, including 10 RCTs of the flu and mask-wearing, as well as the Danish study of mask use for COVID. Humans are not lab mannequins.

This is what everyone got wrong from day one, or perhaps what Fauci and others originally got right. The COVID conversation should have begun with minimum viable particle size under pressure, which for COVID-size particulates is .06 microns. 90% of exhaled particulates fall within the radically behaving particulate/airborne particulate range.

What that means is that once particles are well under 1 micron (smaller than most bacteria), they easily get through and around the mask, remain suspended in air for a long time, and travel indoors a lot farther than six feet. Once we learned that this virus was airborne and so small, it is simply impossible for masking and six feet to make a difference indoors.

Multiple virions can compose a single particle cluster and still fall well under that threshold. Thus, even if everyone wore masks properly, still enough virions would escape to essentially make mask-wearing nothing but theater, which is why we don't find any real-world evidence of masking helping at all, as cases surge in masked-up Michigan and decline to the lowest levels in a year in Texas and Mississippi.

On 3/5, two experts from Brown University said on the NBC website that Texas & Mississippi lifting their mask manda… https://t.co/FGD6Oqg77i

My friend Emily Burns demonstrates this in a real-life example by exhaling cigarette smoke under a mask that was pretty form-fitted. As she noted on Twitter, cigarette smoke is less than 1 micron, which is the same size or larger than 99% of the virus-carrying aerosols.

In fact, brand-new research has shown that 90% of the virions of this virus are smaller than 0.3 microns. There are 100 times more aerosols under 1 micron (mostly significantly smaller) than over 1 micron. That is much smaller than the pores on surgical masks, much less cloth masks, not to mention the gaps around the masks.

What's more, the same study shows that at peak contagion around day seven of symptoms, with the inflammation of the alveoli, the number of particles under 0.3 microns increases tenfold, while the larger ones decrease. This likely explains why asymptomatic individuals barely spread and why masks are worthless when people are the most contagious.

We have been sold an illogical premise dressed up as science – that somehow masks do not protect you against inhaling someone else's virus, but they do protect others from your exhalation. That is the excuse given to force people who don't like masks to wear them, even though the people concerned about the virus are free to wear them if they think they work. However, while masks fail to work against a virus this small in both directions, if anything, they are even less likely to stop your exhalation of the virus than inhalation. As Emily Burns demonstrated in her video, with a KN95, which makes one feel like he is suffocating when inhaling, exhalation seems to flow easily through the gaps.

This is also why masking might possibly aerosolize the particulates even more than people who are unmasked. Which might explain why nearly every analysis shows more spread in places with mask mandates. As Megan Mansell, a hazardous environs PPE export, explained to me:

Exhalation is the plosive outward release of respiratory gases and mucosal excretions that line the respiratory tract. Exhale pressure fluctuates based on an individual's overall health and level of physical exertion, as well as environmental oxygen saturation. More extreme changes in outward pressure accompany plosive force-generating events (sneeze, scream, cough, blowing, blowing raspberries) which each come with changes in facial characteristics like openness of the mouth and tautness of cheeks that impact outward pressure. The more fitted an apparatus is around the mouth and nose, the greater the release of pressure during general respiration and plosive force-generating events. About 90% of respiratory emissions fall within the radically behaving particulate range, which also encompasses the COVID virion particulate range. The more pressurized the plosive activity, the more force behind the plume.

Thus, masking is a catch-22. Either the virions come straight out of the sides and center or, in the case of tighter masks, plosive force creates greater pressure behind the escape of tiny particles, which are even more prone to travel greater distances and remain suspended for hours. Which is why, although N95s appear to perform well in mechanistic lab-based studies, they don't appear to stop the transmission from someone who is contagious in the real world.

19/Which explains why even N-95s, while again, showing good mechanistic data, do not appear to have an impact on a… https://t.co/0FFmyFFtyj

— IM (@IM)1618861185.0

Stephen Petty sent me a chart from his presentation on mask filtration showing that the overwhelming majority of virions are of the size that have the ability to suspend in air for days.

Remember, the big droplets the politicians and the media speak of tend to fall to the ground immediately and don't travel far. There is no way they can account for this degree of ubiquitous transmission around the globe. It must be the micro-particles, which travel far in unventilated indoor rooms and remain suspended for days, that are causing the rapid spread. No mask has any efficacy against those particulates.

It's important to note that it's the small particulates that are most likely to get into one's deep lungs, not the larger droplets, which are more likely to be trapped in saliva or throat and ingested rather than inhaled. Also, mask-wearing tends to force more people to breathe through their mouths rather than normal shallow nasal breathing, which makes them even more likely to inhale the particles that inevitably get through their masks.

The public has been sold a lie about avoiding the virus by wearing a mask and staying six feet apart indoors. The reality is that we should have focused on dilution and filtration systems for a fraction of the funding we spent destroying the economy. We should also have focused on early and pre-emptive treatment with cheap drugs like ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine mixed with supplements of vitamins and zinc. Then again, this was never about science or saving lives. This was about controlling our lives and making us servile puppies to the governing elite. The mask is the ultimate symbol and reminder that we no longer control our own bodies.

Noted leftists celebrate Rush Limbaugh's death with hateful tweets: 'Bigoted King of Talk Radio'

It likely will come as no surprise that noted leftists quickly took to Twitter after hearing Wednesday's news about the death of Rush Limbaugh and engaged in a kind of macabre celebration that hardly masked their hatred for the legendary conservative radio talk show host.

What did they say?

A sampling of "blue check mark" Twitter users showed they tried their darnedest to make viral history with the snarkiest take.

Leading the way was Huffington Post reporter Christopher Mathias who used Twitter to hawk the Limbaugh obit he penned with Nick Robins-Early titled, "Rush Limbaugh, Bigoted King Of Talk Radio, Dies At 70."

It's safe to say Mathias isn't a Limbaugh fan:

"Rush Limbaugh was a bigot and a misogynist who saturated America's airwaves with cruel lies and conspiracy theories for decades, transforming the GOP in the process," he tweeted.

Where to go from there? How about the Palmer Report's tweet:

— Palmer Report (@Palmer Report)1613583538.0

"Now he's dead," the tweet read. "So be it. There's a reason 'Rest in Piss' is trending right now."

Indeed, it appeared to be a popular left-wing response to Limbaugh's passing. Comedian Steve Hofstetter sure seemed to like it:

Remember the NFL punter known more for his far-left politics than by actually punting effectively? Well, Chris Kluwe is still hanging around, and he had quite the reaction to Limbaugh's passing: "Good. F*** Rush Limbaugh, and let the celebration about his death be a reminder to the rest of the racists and bigots that we'll happily dance on your graves too."

Parkland shooting survivor-turned-snarky-leftist celeb Cameron Kasky had the following to say:

Activist pastor Rev. Rob Lee apparently tried his best to be, you know, Christlike:

Rush Limbaugh is dead. This is the only honest thing I can say without being uncharitable. May he reckon with God when he meets her.
— Rev. Rob Lee (@Rev. Rob Lee)1613583774.0

David Axelrod also attempted civility — kinda:

Bless her chilly heart. It's frigid up yonder, after all.

Oh, and make sure to check out writer Tony Posnanski's Twitter page — he seems just a bit overly occupied with Limbaugh's passing. Did he lose his copy of "The Way Things Ought to Be" or something?

Here's one of his F-bomb-free takes:

Rush Limbaugh was an author and a man who knew how to excite a crowd. And so was Hitler.
— Tony Posnanski (@Tony Posnanski)1613586569.0

Writer David Klion gave it the ol' college try. (Is he a DeVry University alum?)

Today is a sad day, as the excruciating physical and spiritual agony Rush Limbaugh experienced at all times has finally ended.

Finally, here's a valiant dunk attempt from Media Matters editor-at-large Parker Molloy:

Looking forward to the goofy right-wing blogs that put together tweet round-ups of people celebrating that Limbaugh died
— Parker Molloy (@Parker Molloy)1613583847.0

Looks like you made it, sweetie.

Anything else?

None of this should come as any surprise, given the same day Limbaugh announced his cancer diagnosis last year, leftists far and wide piled on with glee.

Anti-vaxxer protesters shut down large vaccination site at Dodger Stadium

One of the largest coronavirus vaccination sites in the country was forced to temporarily shut down after a throng of protesters allegedly blocked the entrance to Dodger Stadium, where the mass COVID-19 vaccinations were being administered.

Approximately 50 protesters gathered at the entrance of the vaccination site around 2 p.m. on Saturday, causing the Los Angeles Fire Department to temporarily halt motorists from entering Dodger Stadium as a precaution, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The anti-vaxxers attempted to encourage people to not get the COVID-19 vaccine, held up anti-vaccination signs, and handed out pamphlets to motorists who were waiting in line for hours. The L.A. Times labeled the demonstrators as "members of anti-vaccine and far-right groups."

The Los Angeles Police Department issued a statement about the situation.

"We are aware of social media posts referring to protestors showing up at the Dodger Stadium COVID-19 vaccination site," the LAPD tweeted. "Preliminary reports are that protestors remained peaceful. The LAPD did NOT close the gates, and per LA City Fire, all scheduled vaccines will be delivered."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom tweeted about the protest.

"CA is working around the clock to provide life-saving vaccines to those on the frontlines of this pandemic. We will not be deterred or threatened. Dodger Stadium is back up and running," Newsom said.

The vaccination site reportedly reopened by 3 p.m. The site is usually open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Andrea Garcia, the press secretary for Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, said that everyone who had an appointment for Saturday would be able to get vaccinated.

There were no incidents of violence, according to the L.A. Times. The LAPD said no arrests were made during the peaceful protest.

Previously, Dodger Stadium was being used for widescale coronavirus testing. The MLB ballpark transitioned into a massive COVID-19 vaccination site in mid-January. City officials said the site would vaccinate up to 12,000 people a day.

California's coronavirus vaccination effort had a rocky start. Two weeks ago, the Golden State was last in the percentage of coronavirus vaccine dosages used, but have rebounded since.

The Biden administration had made a goal to vaccinate 100 million Americans in the first 100 days of the president's term. However, many have noted that this is not exactly an ambitious goal since that number would have likely be achieved at the current rate of vaccinations.

Possibly compounding problems, there is a report that the Biden administration can't account for as many as 20 million vaccine doses that were sent to states across the country.

Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski: Facebook banning President Trump gives big tech the 'MOST POWER' — and now it 'can shut any of us up'

Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski told her 1.5 million Twitter followers Thursday that Facebook indefinitely banning President Donald Trump in the wake of the U.S. Capitol siege gives big tech the "MOST POWER" — and makes clear that it "can shut any of us up."

This gives Facebook/tech/Zuck THE MOST POWER. If he can shut the president up/off he can shut any of us up/off
— Emily Ratajkowski (@Emily Ratajkowski)1610043781.0

She followed up her tweet with a protective caveat, saying she realizes "this is going to be an unpopular take but seems worth pointing out."

How did her followers react?

It's common for the Twitter mob to quickly lash out at celebrities who even appear to question criticism or harsh treatment of Trump, and it was no different in Ratajkowski's case:

 • "Are you f***in serious girl??????" stand-up comic Krystyna Hutchinson asked.
 • "THATS what you choose to speak on today?" another commenter asked the supermodel. "Not the territorials or unjust treatment of minorities in this country?? I wish someone would censor you."
 • "Even Republicans have said he is squarely to blame," another user said in regard to Trump. "You worship this man for what?"
 • "This is such a privileged take, omfg," another user declared. "You think a marginalized person can talk a bigot out of bigotry? Reason rarely wins online debate. People believe what they want to believe & look for confirmation. This fantasy world where you can change people through more speech is absurd."

But a surprising number of others agreed with Ratajkowski:

 • "Been yelling this for yrs but w/ the left monopolizing media & actually promoting censorship of conservatives it went unheard," one user said. "But get ready cuz the left is just getting warmed up. Next they'll be making lists & assigning re-education camps for those of us engaging in wrong think."
 • "The president of Iran has a twitter account & the leader of the free world doesn't lol," another commenter observed.
 • "Welcome to our concerns about leftist media power," another user replied.
 • "I've said it before, the right cannot ever win the culture war as long as they allow the left to control the means of communication," another commenter said. "Zuckerberg, Dorsey, and Pichai are the people Patriots should be going after, then the big media, then they can tackle the political class."
 • "Thank you Emily," another user wrote. "Though we may not agree on politics, we certainly believe that no one should be allowed to stop Free Speech. Thank you for taking a stand."

She's particularly concerned about the left losing its voice

Ratajkowski also tweeted an explanation for her position, noting that "my concern is that this gives big tech the opportunity to shut down 'leftist extremists' who are important political organizers."

— Emily Ratajkowski (@Emily Ratajkowski)1610045424.0

And she's suspicious about something else

She also wondered if the ease with which rioters stormed Capitol made it "wildly convenient" for big tech to institute "censorship."

Anything else?

Ratajkowski is kind of a mixed bag when it comes to left-wing politics and being a "woke" celebrity.

In October she seemed to climb aboard the gender revolution train, writing in Vogue that she and her husband "won't know the gender" of their baby "until our child is 18" and "they'll let us know then."

And while Ratajkowski publicly backed Democratic socialist presidential candidate Bernie Sanders in 2016 and took some heat for partnering with Planned Parenthood a year earlier, in 2017 she stood up for Melania Trump after a New York Times journalist called the first lady a "hooker."
