'Woke-pocalypse Now' for Francis Ford Coppola?

Word of advice to Francis Ford Coppola: Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

As he promotes his bold new film "Megalopolis," the legendary director has been speaking out against woke Hollywood. Coppola says he made a point of casting "problematic" actors like Shia LaBeouf and Dustin Hoffman to strike a blow for creative freedom.

It's heartening to watch the Gallaghers finally realize what's really important — scooping up the millions of dollars they've left on the table because of their feud.

He even went so far as to hire Jon Voight, a loud and proud conservative. The horror, the horror.

Now, the mob is coming after him.

"Megalopolis," which opens September 27, has been under attack in the press for months. Some have accused Coppola of being inappropriate on the set — a charge both he and an extra on the project have denied.

Other rumors suggest the film, which Coppola helped pay for from his own considerable wallet, went way over budget.

It’s the canceled leading the canceled. What a perfect way to capture Hollywood in 2024, don’t ya think?

Acting the Foo

The Foo Fighters won the resistance lottery.

Team Trump used the song “My Hero” at a recent rally to welcome former presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. into the MAGA fold. That’s all lead singer Dave Grohl needed to start the band’s outrage machine in motion.

Grohl and co. boasted “appropriate actions” are being taken against the Trump campaign. Never mind that the campaign says it purchased the rights to use the song fair and square.

“It’s Times Like These facts matter, don’t be a Pretender @foofighters,” posted Trump spokesman Steven Cheung, cheekily chiding the band with its own song titles.

A heartwarming cash grab

What’s the one rock reunion we thought we’d never see? Oasis.

The squabbling Gallaghers famously fought, and fought, during their ‘90s heyday. And then the brothers stopped fighting — and we assume talking — altogether.

Now, they’ve mended enough fences to plan a U.K. tour next year.

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised,” the siblings said via press release.

It's heartening to watch the Gallaghers finally realize what's really important — scooping up the millions of dollars they've left on the table because of their feud.

David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar take note.

Quentin wants Kamala in 'A Quiet Place'

A filmmaker renowned for his iconic dialogue has a sobering message for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Shaddup! And stay shaddup.

Director Quentin Tarantino offered that advice to vibes queen Harris during a chat on the “Club Random with Bill Maher” podcast. So far, Harris has not sat down for any official or spontaneous interviews since being undemocratically chosen to replace President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket.

That’s outrageous to any sane soul. But it's not to Tarantino, who insists Harris keep quiet until the final votes are counted come November.

I think, it’s all about winning the f***ing election. The easiest path to winning the election is ... Look, you can talk about maybe she should have had more guts about this or that or the other, but we’re the f***ing president. And Trump’s not the president, and we’re the f***ing president, and now it’s going to be about this. This is about f***ing winning.

"We're the f***ing president." Did a new Harris-Walz campaign slogan just drop? Seems like a step up from "brat," at least.

She likes you, she really likes you

Who needs Beyonce or Taylor Swift when Kamala Harris has Sally Field?

The former “Flying Nun” returned to social media this week to promote Harris’ presidential campaign.

“Vote for our country, our children and grandchildren. Vote for the earth and women and human rights. Vote for democracy. Vote for @kamalaharris and @timwalz. Please dear God. (And I’ll be your best friend.),” she wrote on social media.

Caution: Best friends help you move ... but Field does look pretty sturdy for 77.

Taylor Hawkins dead at 50: Police say death could be drug-related, how Foo Fighters drummer made girl's dream come true, rock royalty pay last respects

Taylor Hawkins – who has been the drummer for the last 25 years for the immensely popular rock band Foo Fighters – has died at the age of 50.

The Foo Fighters made an announcement late Friday night:

The Foo Fighters family is devastated by the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved Taylor Hawkins. His musical spirit and infectious laughter will live on with all of us forever. Our hearts go out to his wife, children, and family, and we ask that their privacy be treated with the utmost respect in this unimaginably difficult time.

The Foo Fighters were on tour in South America. The band was scheduled to perform at the Festival Estéreo Picnic in Bogota on Friday night, but the concert was canceled due to the untimely death.

"Due to a very serious medical situation, Foo Fighters will not be able to perform tonight and have canceled the remainder of their South American tour," read a projected statement above a candle-lit stage where the Foo Fighters were set to perform.

Police issue statement on a possible cause of Taylor Hawkins' death

Hawkins was found dead in a hotel room on Friday at the 5-star Casa Medina luxury hotel in Bogota, Colombia.

According to the Daily Mail, the Metropolitan Police Of Bogota released a statement that read: "The cause of death has yet to be established. According to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs."

Hawkins' death is still under investigation.

The New York Post reported, "Hawkins had complained of chest pains to hotel staff, according to reports."

By the time medical responders arrived at the rocker's hotel room he was already dead.

Hawkins had a history of drug use

Four years after joining the Foo Fighters, Hawkins overdosed on heroin in 2001 and was in a coma for two weeks.

"We went through a lot of crazy periods with our band early on," Hawkins admits in a 2017 interview with Rolling Stone, which he states he is sober at the time.

In a 2018 interview with the online radio station Beats, Hawkins said, "I was partying a lot. I wasn't a junkie per se, but I was partying. There was a year where the partying just got a little too heavy. There's no happy ending with hard drugs."

Hawkins recalled the moment that he wanted to get sober, "Thank God on some level this guy gave me the wrong line with the wrong thing one night and I woke up going, 'What the f*** happened?' That was a real changing point for me."

When asked about his sobriety, Hawkins responded, "I don't really discuss how I live my life in that regard. I have my system that works for me."

Drummer Travis Barker: "I don’t have the words. Sad to write this or to never see you again. I'll never forget Laguna Beach days when I was a trash man playing in a punk rock band and you were playing with Alanis. You'd come watch me play in dive bars and be like, 'kid you’re a star.' And I thought you were crazy but you gave me so much hope and determination. Years later we toured together with Blink and Foo's in Australia and I have the best memories of smoking cigarettes in the restroom of flights we were on together and watching your set every night. To say I'll miss you my friend isn’t enough. Till the next time we talk drums and smoke in the boys room … Rest In Peace."

Taylor Hawkins made a little girl's dream come true

Emma Sofia Peralta – a 9-year-old girl from Paraguay – attempted to meet members of the Foo Fighters by playing drums outside the band's hotel in the city of Asuncion this week.

"When my daughter found out that the Foo Fighters were coming, she started a campaign to meet them," Emma's father wrote on social media. "Today we took her drums to play in front of the Sheraton and look who came out. Dreams come true."

Hawkins visited the girl to cheers of the crowd that gathered outside the hotel.

Hawkins died 48 hours later.

"We are devastated," the father said. "I don't know how to tell this to Emma."

Foo Fighters to reopen Madison Square Garden, but only vaccinated can attend concert – fans are furious: 'I'll never buy another ticket'

The Foo Fighters are performing at Madison Square Garden on June 20, which will be the first 100% capacity concert in a New York arena since March 2020. However, only music enthusiasts who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be admitted into the concert. This has some Foo Fighters fans furious, some vowing never to buy another ticket to one of the band's concerts.

In order to attend the Foo Fighters concert at MSG, guests will need to be fully vaccinated, which means that at least 14 days before June 20, concertgoers must have had the second dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine or the single dose of Johnson & Johnson's COVID-19 vaccine. The only exception is that children under the age of 16 may provide proof of a negative antigen COVID-19 test instead of the coronavirus vaccine. The minor's antigen COVID-19 test must be taken within six hours of the event start time, or the PCR COVID-19 test must be taken within 72 hours of the day of the event.

"Guests will have to provide proof of full vaccination along with an appropriate ID matching the name on your documentation," a statement from Madison Square Garden states. "Your documentation needs to be directly from the healthcare provider that performed the vaccination and you can display proof on your smartphone, present a physical copy or through the New York State Excelsior Pass."

The Excelsior Pass, which was developed by IBM, allows New Yorkers to show an electronic passport on their phone in the form of a unique QR code that is scanned by businesses to confirm COVID-19 vaccinations or recent negative COVID tests before they will be permitted to enter theaters, stadiums, or other businesses.

"The Garden is ready to rock," James Dolan, executive chairman and CEO of MSG Entertainment, said in a statement of the iconic NYC arena that has a capacity of 20,789. "We've been waiting for this moment for 15 months and are excited to finally welcome a packed house of roaring, fully-vaccinated Foo Fighters fans to Madison Square Garden."

The stipulation that all attendees be vaccinated to go to the concert is an order from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. The Democratic governor issued an order that gatherings or events without social distancing that exceed 250 people indoors or 500 outdoors must require proof of vaccination.

However, many Foo Fighters fans who don't want to get the coronavirus vaccine feel slighted that they will be shut out of the concert. Fans lashed out at the band for playing a gig that would "discriminate" against those who were not vaccinated.

Reactions from Foo Fighters fans and internet commentators to the vaccinated-only concert:

  • "Imagine being a fan of the @foofighters but you're allergic to the vaccine or unable to get it due to a medical condition."
  • "I'll never buy another ticket to a @foofighters concert. Not all people that choose to NOT vaccinate are conspiracy theorists. Some people, very close to me, have autoimmune conditions that make the vaccine a high risk proposition."
  • "Ridiculous that people have to be vaccinated to go to MSG! Everyone's situation if different and being vaccinated is up to the individual. Total discrimination! Big thumbs down to MSG!"
  • "Foo Fighters, a band I've long admired, just held a concert for the jabbed only. That's every album & play list with them on, consigned to the bin."
  • "No Jab, no gig! The Foo Fighters play Madison Square Gardens but only for the vaccinated. Discriminating against all those who can't have a jab as well as those who choose not to, inc pregnant women, immune suppressed and children. Papers please!"
  • "Beyond disappointed to hear the Foo Fighters are leading the way in health discrimination."
  • "Never thought the Foo Fighters would support suppression, segregation, and discrimination. It's strange times."
  • "Foo Fighters are playing at Madison Square Garden, but only for the vaccinated! Rock artists used to question things and stick it to the establishment, but not anymore; and some even accept and promote discrimination."
  • "The Foo Fighters will play to a fully packed Madison Square Garden on June 20. Later that week, Tottenville High School will have to hold six separate graduation ceremonies because they're limited to no more than 500 people on their outdoor football field."

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl commented on the reopening of Madison Square Garden, "We've been waiting for this day for over a year. And Madison Square Garden is going to feel that HARD. New York, get ready for a long ass night of screaming our heads off together to 26 years of Foos."

In April, Grohl teamed up with fellow rocker Mick Jagger for a collaboration song titled "Easy Sleazy," which hits on the banality of life during the coronavirus pandemic and mocks anti-vaxxer conspiracy theories.

"Shooting the vaccine, Bill Gates is in my bloodstream. It's mind control," the rock stars sing. "The Earth is flat and cold, it's never warming up. The Arctic's tundra turned to slush, the second coming's late, there's aliens in the Deep State."
