Trump takes action after Biden quietly extended Harris' Secret Service protection

The Biden administration issued a secret directive before leaving office to extend Kamala Harris’ Secret Service protection beyond the typical duration provided for former vice presidents.

'The vice president is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety.'

President Donald Trump canceled Harris’ federal protection on Thursday, according to a memorandum reviewed by CNN.

While former presidents receive lifetime protection, vice presidents receive six months of protection after leaving office. Harris’ should have ended on July 21.

However, shortly before departing from office, then-President Joe Biden reportedly extended Harris’ protection for an additional year.

A Thursday memorandum issued to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem read, “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”

The termination of Harris’ protection comes as she prepares to set off on a book tour for the release of her new memoir, “107 Days.” The book, which details Harris’ “candid and personal account of the shortest presidential campaign in modern history,” is scheduled for release on September 23.

“The vice president is grateful to the United States Secret Service for their professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to safety,” Kirsten Allen, a Harris senior adviser, told CNN.

Neither the White House nor the Secret Service responded to CNN’s requests for comment. A Biden spokesperson declined to comment, the news outlet reported.

Trump canceled Secret Service protection for Biden’s adult children, Hunter and Ashley, in March.

“We are aware of the president’s decision to terminate protection for Hunter and Ashley Biden,” the agency stated at the time. “The Secret Service will comply and is actively working with the protective details and the White House to ensure compliance as soon as possible.”

Teamsters break one-party tradition to bet big on Republicans

The International Brotherhood of Teamsters, which has traditionally backed Democrat politicians, is increasingly directing its support toward Republicans ahead of next year's midterm elections.

For the first time in nearly 30 years, the Teamsters, representing 1.3 million members, did not endorse the Democratic Party's presidential candidate last year.

'Our members are working people whose interests cut across party lines.'

President Sean O'Brien claimed the union's decision not to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris was due to her failure to answer all of his members' questions during a roundtable discussion and her alleged arrogant remark that she would win "with you or without you," referring to the union.

Leading up to Harris' failed race against President Donald Trump last year, O'Brien openly declared that the Democratic Party had abandoned working-class Americans.

"I'll be honest with you, I'm a Democrat, but they have f**ked us over for the last 40 years," he remarked at the time.

While the union did not endorse either presidential candidate, O'Brien spoke last year at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Following the presidential race, the Teamsters have continued to place more financial support behind Republican candidates, Politico reported.

The Teamsters' political action committee — Democrat, Republican, Independent Voter Education — reportedly donated $112,000 to Republicans, including $5,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee and $50,000 to the Republican Attorneys General Association.

When asked for comment, Teamsters spokesperson Kara Deniz directed Blaze News to her previous statements made to Politico.

"Our members are working people whose interests cut across party lines," Deniz told the outlet. "And there's no value in living in a bubble … where you only talk to certain people to the exclusion of others."

Republican candidates who received Teamster contributions included Reps. Rob Bresnahan (Pa.), Mike Kelly (Pa.), Nicole Malliotakis (N.Y.), and Chris Smith (N.J.). The Teamsters also donated to several Republican senators, including Deb Fischer (Neb.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Jon Husted (Ohio), and Dave McCormick (Pa.).

NRCC spokesperson Mike Marinella told Politico, "Hardworking men and women across the country are rallying behind Republicans up and down the ballot because we fight for their jobs, their families, and their future."

"Democrats have abandoned them for their deeply out-of-touch, radical policies. We're bringing these voters home, and they will be key in growing our House majority," Marinella said.

While the Teamsters' contributions to Republicans have significantly increased, the union still gives more donations to Democrats. The DRIVE PAC reportedly dished out $200,000 to the Democratic Attorneys General Association and $100,000 to the Democratic Governors Association during the second quarter.

Young Men Fail To Name Any Masculine Dem Leaders Not Named Obama

Young American men do not have a long list of Democratic leaders they view as masculine, in fact, there is no list — only one name.

Andrew Cuomo Can Run For NYC Mayor Because Democrats Always Reward Failure

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s race for mayor is just another example of Democrats refusal to hold leaders accountable.

Majority of voters say economy 'STRONG' for the first time in nearly 4 years, now with Trump in charge

Polling conducted in the wake of President Donald Trump's "total reset" with China, his new tariff deal with the United Kingdom, and inflation's drop to a four-year low revealed on Monday years-high voter confidence in the strength of the economy and a healthy dip in voter pessimism regarding their personal financial situations.

According to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, 51% of voters — whose top issue altogether after price increases and inflation was the economy — said the economy was "strong." Last month, only 46% said so, and there hasn't been a majoritively positive response to this question since July 2021.

Fifty percent of voters expressed confidence the president's policies will lead to stronger economic growth.

Despite this perceived strength, 51% of respondents suggested the economy was nevertheless on the wrong track. When broken down by political affiliation, 72% of Republican respondents, 15% of Democratic respondents, and 28% of independent respondents alternatively said the economy was on the "right track."

Over the past few years, the percentage of Americans who said the country on the whole was on the "right track" dribbled around 30%. However, that number skyrocketed from 28% in January, when Trump took office again, to 42% the following month. It is now at 42% again after a dip in April.

'President Trump is a skilled steward of the economy.'

Last month, 45% of voters said their personal financial situation was getting worse. Pollsters found this month that such pessimism had dropped to 39%, while the percentage of respondents who said they were "just as well off" or that their situation was improving climbed four and two points, respectively.

"The majority of Trump's policies continue to see strong support especially on immigration and government efficiency, even though there is concern Trump has exceeded guardrails with executive orders and tariffs," Mark Penn, co-director of the Harvard CAPS/ Harris poll, said in a statement.

Penn added, "If he is able to successfully lower the price of prescription drugs and hold down the fort on inflation, he will be able to unlock 10% more of voters in his approval rating."

Steve Miran, chairman of Trump's Council of Economic Advisers, said in a statement to Blaze News, "The Harvard/Harris poll is a reflection of the fact that Americans know that President Trump is a skilled steward of the economy."

"The president's policies to preserve low tax rates and reduce them further, cut red tape, create energy abundance, and renegotiate America-last trade deals will combine to create a Trump economic boom — just like they did during his first term," continued Miran. "The best way to create jobs is to create incentives for businesses to hire and invest, and that's what the president's policies do."

'If it fails, Americans will be subject to a $4 trillion tax hike.'

While there is plenty of optimism around the poll results, entrepreneur and business expert Carol Roth told Blaze News that "it's tough to get a read on the consumer right now" and noted that "while the Harvard CAPS/Harris poll went into a slim majority, other consumer polls are near record lows."

"Inflation cooling has been a welcome trend for consumers, as has the tariff pause that led the market to recapture what was lost from the Liberation Day announcements," continued Roth. "But there are concerning signs with debt delinquencies rising."

RELATED: Inflation dips to 4-year low despite trade war hysteria: 'Americans are breathing a sigh of relief'

When asked whether Congress' passage of the tax bill was critical to maintaining this confidence, Miran told Blaze News that "the One Big Beautiful tax bill is a critical part of this policy suite, and if it fails, Americans will be subject to a $4 trillion tax hike, the biggest in history. That's why it's absolutely essential that we get it over the line, and we will."

'We need deregulation and tax cut permanence.'

Eighty percent of respondents said the U.S. government "should move in the next few years" to balance the budget. When asked whether reductions in government spending or increases in taxing were the way to reduce the budget deficits, 78% signaled a desire for spending cuts.

"While getting more certainty and permanence with tax cuts is critical, the big beautiful bill needs a massive diet, and failure to substantially cut spending by the GOP could undo progress on inflation and worsen our already fragile fiscal foundation," said Roth. "We need deregulation and tax cut permanence as well as trade deals and the end of tariffs to engender more growth, as well as some serious fiscal responsibility from Congress to make sure that the economy doesn't get crushed by our ever growing debt burden."

The Harvard CAPS/Harris poll found that 47% of respondents approved of the job that Trump was doing, with 87% of GOP voters approving and 83% of Democrats and 50% of independents disapproving.

The president received highest approval for his handling of immigration and on "returning America to its values," and 52% of respondents said he was doing a better job than his predecessor.

The Republican Party, meanwhile, enjoyed a positive approval rating of 52%, its highest approval rating since March 2023, whereas the Democratic Party, although no longer plumbing record approval lows, still remained 10 percentage points behind, bogged down in part by the 28% of Democrats who evidently don't like what their party is doing.

The White House did not respond to Blaze News' request for comment by publication time.

Trump says raw footage of Kamala Harris' '60 Minutes' interview proves 'election interference'

Failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris' interview with "60 Minutes," which aired on Oct. 7, was a disaster replete with word salads.

At the time, keen observers deduced, on the basis of major differences between Harris' responses shown in a preview of the interview and the one presented in the final, that CBS News had engaged in deceptive edits with the apparent intention of portraying the Democrat as passably coherent ahead of the election, something the network vehemently denied.

The Federal Communications Commission, which received a formal complaint on Oct. 16 from the Center for American Rights requesting an investigation into possible news distortion, released the raw footage and full transcript of the interview on Wednesday. The footage reveals that CBS News indeed went to great lengths to make Harris appear intelligible and concise — possibly with the intention of misleading viewers.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr noted on X that the commission will now seek comment regarding the news distortion complaint through March, writing, "The people will have a chance to weigh in."

Night-and-day differences

Bill Whitaker of CBS News' "60 Minutes" asked Harris at one stage in the interview whether America lacked influence over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his strategic decisions in the Middle East. Whitaker then stated, "It seems that Prime Minister Netanyahu is not listening" to the Biden-Harris administration.

'CBS should lose its license.'

The version of the interview that went to air and was reflected in CBS News' official transcript was edited so that Harris appears to say in response, "We're not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end."

It's clear from the raw footage that Harris actually responded with one of her signature word salads:

Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted, or a result of many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region. And we're not going to stop doing that. We're not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.

Harris' answer to Whitaker's question about what the U.S. could do to prevent the Israel-Hamas war from "spinning out of control" was relatively succinct in the manipulated version that CBS News originally aired. In reality, it was another meandering mess.

Here is Harris' response as it originally appeared on CBS News:

Well, let's start with October 7. 1,200 people were massacred; 250 hostages were taken, including Americans; women were brutally raped, and as I said then, I maintain Israel has a right to defend itself. We would. And how it does so matters. Far too many innocent Palestinians have been killed. This war has to end.

Here is what Harris actually said:

Well, let's start with October 7. Because obviously, what we do now must be in the context of what has happened. And as I reflect on a year ago, and that 1,200 people were massacred — young people at a festival, at a music festival — 250 hostages were taken, including Americans, women were brutally raped. And as I said then, I maintain Israel has a right to defend itself. We would. And how it does so matters. And as we fast-forward into what we have seen in the ensuing weeks and months, far too many innocent Palestinians have been killed. And we know that, and I think most agree, this war has to end. And that has to be our number-one imperative, and that has been our number-one imperative. How can we get this war to end? Well, critical elements of that are we have got to get a hostage deal and a ceasefire deal done. We have to — we have to get aid in. We have to lay the path toward a two-state solution.

CBS News originally made it appear as though Harris said, in response to Whitaker's question about whether the U.S. has any sway over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, "The work that we do diplomatically with the leadership of Israel is an ongoing pursuit around making clear our principles."

In reality, Harris largely dodged the question, talking about military aid to Israel, Israel's self-defense against missile attacks, and the perceived need to pressure Israel into bringing the war to an end.

President Donald Trump noted in a Truth Social post on Thursday, "CBS and 60 Minutes defrauded the public by doing something which has never, to this extent, been seen before. They 100% removed Kamala's horrible election changing answers to questions, and replaced them with completely different, and far better, answers, taken from another part of the interview. This was Election changing 'stuff,' Election Interference and, quite simply, Election Fraud at a level never seen before."

"CBS should lose its license, and the cheaters at 60 Minutes should all be thrown out, and this disreputable 'NEWS' show should be immediately terminated," added Trump.

More gaslighting

CBS News doubled down on its denial of wrongdoing Wednesday, noting in a statement, "The 60 Minutes broadcast was not doctored or deceitful."

The network suggested further that in the case of its reworking of Harris' answer to the question of whether Netanyahu was listening to the Biden administration, "We edited the interview to ensure that as much of the vice president's answers to 60 Minutes' many questions were included in our original broadcast while fairly representing those answers."

'News distortion calculated to confuse, deceive, and mislead the public.'

Democratic FCC Commissioner Anna Gomez, who was nominated by former President Joe Biden, similarly did her part to suggest that there was nothing wrong with CBS News' significant manipulation of Harris' responses, stating, "The transcript and footage of this interview provide no evidence that CBS and its affiliated broadcast stations violated FCC rules."

"The FCC should now move to dismiss this fishing expedition to avoid further politicizing our enforcement actions," continued Gomez.

Implications

The release of the footage may bode well for President Donald Trump, who filed a lawsuit against CBS News and "60 Minutes" demanding at least $10 billion in damages for the "malicious, deceptive, and substantial news distortion calculated to confuse, deceive, and mislead the public."

The lawsuit stated, "To paper over Kamala's 'word salad' weakness, CBS used its national platform on 60 Minutes to cross the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news."

"President Trump brings this action to redress the immense harm caused to him, to his campaign, and to tens of millions of citizens in Texas and across America by CBS's deceptive broadcasting conduct," wrote Trump's attorneys.

Trump's lawsuit may complicate or even kill the planned multibillion-dollar merger between CBS' parent company, Paramount, and the Hollywood studio Skydance.

The New York Times indicated ahead of the release of the interview footage that executives at Paramount were pushing for a settlement to the lawsuit — a settlement that would apparently have to do without an acknowledgment of wrongdoing from Bill Owens, the executive producer of "60 Minutes," who vowed Monday not to apologize to the 47th president "for anything we have done."

Keystone Kops Konstitutionalism

With a foot out the door of the Oval Office, President Joe Biden, in a meaningless but official-looking document, declared that the proposed Equal Rights Amendment, which failed in 1982 when the extended period specified by Congress for its ratification elapsed, has actually been ratified and is now the 28th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States.

This is, of course, daft.

It is keystone kops konstitutionalism.

Trump gets chummy with Obama at Carter funeral, leaving Kamala Harris scowling

Five living presidents and a handful of failed presidential candidates attended Jimmy Carter's funeral Thursday at the Washington National Cathedral.

Kamala Harris, once touted as the "female Barack Obama," did not appear pleased to see the real Barack Obama enjoying the company of President-elect Donald Trump. Footage has gone viral showing Harris' reaction to the sight of Obama, the elder Democrat who supported her political ambitions for over 15 years, engaging with the very Republican who crushed her dreams in the 2024 presidential election.

In the video, Harris turns to the apparent sound of civil chatter, spotting Trump lean into Obama's commentary. The California Democrat appears to roll her eyes, turn forward in her seat with a grimace, then try to assign her focus elsewhere, paging through the funeral program.

'Obama casually and amiably chats with Adolf Hitler.'

Conservative columnist Joe Cocha noted on X, "Going to file this under 'death stare' from Kamala to Obama/Trump during the Carter funeral, who are getting along swimmingly. It's like watching Carson and Rickles, these two."

CNN's Kaitlan Collins noted, "These are just moments that you don't see hardly ever."

While many commentators focused on Harris' poor reaction, others noted Obama's apparent comfort joking around with an individual he previously called a "fascist" and has long characterized as a villain.

Journalist Glenn Greenwald captioned the video, "Former President Barack Obama casually and amiably chats with Adolf Hitler as the latter is set to assume power in 11 days, end American democracy, and impose a white nationalist dictatorship."

Terry Schilling, president of the American Principles Project, said in response to a video from the event showing Obama chuckling at commentary from Trump, "This is what happens when you win. Obama knows more than anyone how much he rigged the game against Trump and knows how tough Trump has to be to have pulled off this miracle."

Trump was seated between his wife, Melania, and Obama. Obama, who apparently went stag as his wife, Michelle Obama, is in Hawaii, was flanked on his right by Laura Bush, George W. Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Bill Clinton.

After sitting alone in the front row for several minutes, Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were joined by President Joe Biden and his wife, Jill. ABC News noted that Harris did not greet the incoming president.

Jimmy Carter, eulogized by his sons and by Biden, was the 39th president of the United States. He perished in his Georgia home at the age of 100 on Dec. 29.

Kamala Harris' moment to shine has come: She gets to certify her electoral better's landslide victory

Kamala Harris suffered a historic humiliation on Election Day, losing in a landslide to President-elect Donald Trump by 86 Electoral College votes. Today, as president of the U.S. Senate, Harris must suffer another humiliation: presiding over a joint session of Congress to certify her defeat.

Despite previously characterizing Trump as unstable, a "petty tyrant," a would-be dictator, a "fascist," and a threat to democracy, Harris confirmed just hours ahead of the session in a Monday video message that she would indeed certify the results.

"The peaceful transfer of power is one of the most fundamental principles of American democracy," Harris said in the video. "As much as any other principle, it is what distinguishes our system of government from monarchy or tyranny."

Harris noted further that "democracy can be fragile" and that the certification of the results is a "sacred obligation" that she would uphold, "guided by love of country, loyalty to our Constitution, and my unwavering faith in the American people."

'She believed she should have won the race.'

A White House official told CNN that the 60-year-old Democrat's role Monday "will be solely ministerial."

"The vice president understands that our democracy requires elected leaders who have taken the sacred oath of office and everyday citizens alike to actively preserve it," said a senior Harris aide. "It is with this deep sense of responsibility and duty in mind that the vice president will certify the presidential election on January 6 and reaffirm the will of the American people."

While Harris is apparently ready to execute her duties, a former longtime Harris aide told NBC News that the certification will nevertheless prove an emotional feat for the vice president.

"There's definitely sadness and frustration," said the former aide, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "She believed she should have won the race, but the country didn't want to go in that direction."

'A BIG MOMENT IN HISTORY. MAGA!'

Harris, who told the co-hosts of Disney's "The View" in January 2024 that she was "scared as heck" that the American people would re-elect Trump, is not the first among incumbent vice presidents to certify the results of their own losses.

The Washington Post noted that despite accusations of voter fraud in 11 states, then-Vice President Richard Nixon certified his loss — by 0.2 percentage points — to John F. Kennedy on Jan. 6, 1961.

Whereas Harris appears to be approaching the event soberly, the Post noted in 1961, "Nixon seemed to enjoy doing it," even "pump[ing] humor, life and even a little political sense into the nearly two-centuries-old ceremonial."

After George W. Bush beat him in the 2000 election, then-Vice President Al Gore reportedly also tried to bring some levity to the certification process.

Former Democratic Vice President Hubert Humphrey was supposed to certify his massive defeat to Richard Nixon in 1968 but apparently couldn't face the music. According to the New York Times, he instead attended the funeral of the first U.N. secretary general and left the duty of certification to Democratic Sen. Richard Russell (Ga.), the president pro tempore of the Senate.

Trump said in a Truth Social post Monday morning, "CONGRESS CERTIFIES OUR GREAT ELECTION VICTORY TODAY — A BIG MOMENT IN HISTORY. MAGA!"

Union boss slams Harris for boasting she'd win election 'with or without' endorsement

Sean O'Brien, the president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, torched Vice President Kamala Harris for allegedly declaring she would win the election against President-elect Donald Trump "with or without" the union's support.

During a Monday interview on "The Tucker Carlson Show," O'Brien explained why the Teamsters refused to endorse Harris in the November presidential election. It marked the first time the union had not supported a candidate in nearly three decades.

'That's really arrogant.'

O'Brien stated that Harris had previously told Teamsters vice president Joan Corey that the union "better get on board soon" with endorsing her.

According to O'Brien, the union had repeatedly attempted to get Harris to sit down for an interview leading up to the presidential election.

"She finally agrees to come after we were putting pressure on her," he told Carlson. "I was doing interviews all over the place, saying, 'We haven't gotten invited to the DNC [Democratic National Convention]. They haven't accepted our invitation for her to come to a roundtable.'"

O'Brien explained that rank-and-file union members had prepared 16 questions for Harris to answer during the roundtable discussion. He noted that the union also held similar interviews with the other presidential candidates, including Trump, who answered all of the questions.

He claimed that Harris' team was trying to "negotiate" with the union only to ask her three questions.

"So she answers three of them, and on the fourth question, one of her operatives or one of her staff slips a note in front of me: 'This will be the last question,'" he told Carlson, noting that the roundtable was scheduled for another 20 minutes.

"Her declaration on the way out was, 'I'm gonna win with you or without you,'" O'Brien remarked.

Carlson responded, "Damn. I thought I was arrogant. That's really arrogant."

Following the roundtable event, O'Brien stated that he contacted President Joe Biden's former secretary of labor, Marty Walsh.

O'Brien claimed that he told Walsh, "Let me ask you a question, Marty. Excuse my French. Who does this f***ing lady think she is?"

"If I want support from any organization, I am not gonna point my finger in someone's face and say, 'You better get on board or else,'" he continued.

During his interview with Carlson, O'Brien also expressed concerns about Biden's health, noting that what he observed "kinda looked like elderly abuse."

"We had Biden in there, and you could just clearly tell he was not the man he was. It was kinda sad," he added.

Most Teamsters' members, 59.6%, supported Trump over Harris. The union, representing 1.3 million members, previously endorsed Biden and Hillary Clinton.

A spokesperson for Harris did not respond to a request for comment from Newsweek.
