Dem lawmaker tries to blame FBI whistleblower for conspiracy theory about Jan. 6 — but fails miserably

Rep. Linda Sánchez (D-Calif.) tried to discredit an FBI whistleblower on Thursday using a random Twitter account that shared a conspiracy theory.

But the attempt failed miserably.

What happened?

At a House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government hearing featuring three FBI whistleblowers, Sánchez tried to corner suspended FBI staff operations specialist Marcus Allen with a Twitter account that is not his.

"Mr. Allen, have you ever used Twitter. Yes or no?" Sánchez asked.

"I have utilized Twitter, yes ma'am," Allen responded.

Sánchez proceeded to read aloud a Twitter username — "@MarcusA97050645?" — and demanded to know whether that account belongs to Allen. The only possible connection between Allen and the account is the display name, "Marcus Allen," an otherwise common name.

"That is absolutely not my account," Allen informed Sánchez.

Despite the account not belonging to Allen, the Democratic lawmaker proceeded to demand that Allen answer for posts the account had made.

"OK, that's not your account. Well, on Dec. 5, 2022, an account under the name 'Marcus Allen' retweeted a tweet that said quote —" Sánchez said before Allen interrupted.

"That is not my account, ma'am," he interjected.

"You haven't let me finish the question, sir," Sánchez fired back. "You haven't let me finish the question, and the time is mine. On Dec. 5, 2022, an account under the name of 'Marcus Allen' retweeted a tweet that said, ‘Nancy Pelosi staged January 6. Retweet if you agree.' Do you agree with that statement, yes or no?"

"That is— I don't— no, ma'am, that is not my account at all, I have no idea—" Allen responded.

But Sánchez was incredulous, and she repeatedly asked him the question. Finally, Allen replied, "No."

Anything else?

In his testimony, Allen alleged — despite honorably serving his country for two decades — the FBI retaliated against him for the sin of having "questioned the official narrative of the events of January 6."

Officially, the FBI punished Allen for holding "conspiratorial views" about Jan. 6, claimed he "sympathize[s] with criminal conduct," and even questioned his allegiance to the United States.

He vehemently denies holding "conspiratorial views," denies sympathizing with criminal conduct, and maintains his loyalty to the U.S.
