Liberal media conflates murderers with migrants in desperate effort to smear Trump

The liberal media helped set the stage for two assassination attempts against President Donald Trump, advancing false narratives and alarmist rhetoric. Various publications have doubled down in recent weeks, characterizing Kamala Harris' opponent as the embodiment of evil but, more specifically, as the second coming of Adolf Hitler.

NBC News, the Washington Post, and other Democratic-boosting publications dutifully did their part Monday, suggesting that Trump outed himself as a racist and a eugenicist — perhaps of the Planned Parenthood varietyin conversation with radio host Hugh Hewitt earlier in the day.

Of course, this latest false narrative relies upon both a willful misinterpretation of Trump's remarks as well as their de-contextualization.

Background

Patrick Lechleitner, deputy director of ICE, noted in a Sept. 25 letter to Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) that as of July 21, 2024, "There were 662,566 noncitizens with criminal histories on ICE's national docket, which includes those detained by ICE, and on the agency's non-detained docket."

Lechleitner's letter further revealed that over 13,000 illegal aliens were living outside of ICE detention and that another 1,845 illegal aliens had pending homicide cases.

Trump has in recent days cited the figure as further evidence that the Biden-Harris administration's failure to secure the southern border has endangered Americans.

In conversation Monday with Hewitt, Trump criticized Kamala Harris, stressing that she is a "mentally deficient person," who cannot manage to do anything right. Harris' apparent deficit is all the more troubling, suggested Trump, because she seeks to manage virtually every aspect of Americans' lives.

"She wants to go into government housing. She wants to go into government feeding. She wants to feed people. She wants to feed people governmentally. She wants to go into a Communist Party-type of a system," said Trump. "When you look at the things that she proposes, they're so far off. She has no clue."

The Republican added:

How about allowing people to come through an open border — 13,000 of which were murderers. Many of them murdered far more than one person, and they're now happily living in the United States. You know, now, a murderer — I believe this — it's in their genes. And we've got a lot of bad genes in our country right now. They left — they had 425,000 people come into our country that shouldn't be here that are criminals.

Trump made no mention of race when speaking collectively of murderers.

After all, those pouring over the southern border under Harris' watch are racially diverse. Pew Research indicated the illegal alien population from nearly every region around the world grew under the Biden-Harris administration, such that even illegal aliens from Europe and Asia saw increased representation.

In the excerpt, Trump insinuated that murderers' violent disposition may be inherent (i.e., "it's in their genes") and that America suffers as a result of the presence of so many imported murderers.

Liberal press rushes to mislead

In its report of Trump's remarks, NBC News neglected to note that Trump was specifically referring to murderers in the country illegally. The publication also decided to conflate illegal aliens with immigrants more broadly, titling its piece, "Trump suggests immigrants have 'bad genes.'"

There was no mistaking the publication's intent as it made sure not only to parrot a Hitler accusation from the defunct Biden campaign but to suggest Trump was dabbling in "race science."

Rikki Ratliff-Fellman, director of programming at Blaze Media, responded, "THE ACTUAL QUOTE WAS: 'You know, now a murderer, I believe this, it's in their genes. And we've got a lot of bad genes in our country right now.' Per ICE: Over 13K illegal immigrants convicted of murder have been released into US. Where the HELL are your editors?!"

Blaze News senior editor Cortney Weil called out NBC News, writing, "Calling Trump a racist and implying that he's Hitler-adjacent. A completely new and original angle. Will likely impact his chances in November."

Brittany Hughes, managing editor at MRCTV, tweeted, "Trump said *murderers* have bad genes, and that Biden/Harris have allowed thousands of *murderers* into the country. Which is true. Lying @NBCNews is running the old 'murderers and rapists' hoax again."

Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told NBC News, "He was clearly talking about MURDERERS — not migrants."

NBC News was not, however, alone in glossing over the intended and obvious meaning of Trump's remarks.

Jeff Bezos' Washington Post, a key media exponent of the Russian collusion hoax, appeared keen to outdo the absurdity of other liberal publications with an article titled "Trump finally just says that some immigrants are genetically inferior."

After torpedoing his own thesis by alluding to past Trump references to luck and genetics, which lacked racial connotations, Philip Bump claimed that Trump specifically suggested "non-White immigrants are genetically inferior."

Despite the diversity of the criminals flooding into the country, Bump presumed "racism" on Trump's part, then mounted a defense of illegal aliens stealing into the homeland.

The Washington Post has already walked back its original headline, such that Bump's misleading piece is now titled, "Saying immigrants bring 'bad genes' echoes Trump's history — and the world's."

That didn't stop another Post writer, Jennifer Rubin, from once again signaling her poor grounding in reality, then insinuating Trump should be silenced.

"This is fascism," wrote Rubin, who previously fumbled a hit piece against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. "Giving someone a platform for this is reprehensible."

Politico, a publication that recently beclowned itself trying to help Kamala Harris, suggested that Trump was arguing that "immigrants are predisposed to violence" — missing the fact that Trump explicitly suggested that murderers might share a gene in common.

The Huffington Post's Matt Shuham unsurprisingly joined the game, writing, "The xenophobic claim that immigrants are genetically predisposed to committing violent crimes is shocking and false — but xenophobia is also a cornerstone of Trump’s presidential campaign."

Iowa teen who beat his Spanish teacher to death with a baseball bat over a bad grade sentenced to life in prison: 'You're on a spiral straight to hell'

A 17-year-old from Iowa has been sentenced to life in prison for bashing his 66-year-old Spanish teacher to death with a baseball bat over a bad grade. Willard Miller of Iowa will not be eligible for parole until the late 2050s.

Jeremy Goodale, Miller's co-conspirator who similarly pleaded guilty to killing Nohema Graber, will be sentenced at a later date, reported the Associated Press.

District Judge Shawn Showers told the teen, "I find that your intent and actions were sinister and evil. Those acts resulted in the intentional loss of human life in a brutal fashion. There is no excuse. There is not a systemic, societal problem that explains or justifies your actions."

What's the background?

Graber, a mother of three, was a Spanish teacher at Fairfield High School in Fairfield, Iowa.

Lauri Noll, Fairfield schools superintendent, said Graber "touched the lives of many students, parents and staff," reported the Des Moines Register.

Her family referred to her as an "angel of a woman" with "one of the kindest souls."

Graber's mangled body was discovered on Nov. 3, 2021, hidden under a tarp, a wheelbarrow, and railroad ties in Chatauqua Park.

TheBlaze previously reported that Miller had met with the victim at school on the afternoon of Nov. 2 to discuss his poor performance in her Spanish class. Miller later told investigators that he had been frustrated with Graber's teaching style and with how his poor grade in her class had negatively impacted his GPA.

After the meeting, Graber reportedly drove her van to Chatuauqua Park off Mediapolis Road, where she frequently went on walks after school.

Video evidence reportedly indicated she left the school and entered the park around 4 p.m..

Miller and Goodale nabbed the teacher in the park, then dragged her into the woods, where they murdered her.

The victim's van was driven out of the park roughly 45 minutes later, followed by a Ford pickup truck. Witnesses indicated males were driving both vehicles.

After ditching Graber's van at the end of a rural road, Miller caught a ride back with Goodale.

Around midnight on Nov. 2, a witness spotted a male pushing a wheelbarrow toward the park.

When pleading guilty in April, Miller claimed he had only acted as a lookout while Goodale killed Graber. However, in his conflicting account, Goodale suggested Miller delivered the first blow to the back of the victim's head, then noticing she was still alive, he finished the job.

Goodale said, "I met Willard Miller at Chatauqua Park. I understood he had the intent to kill Mrs. Graber. ... (Miller) had brought a bat among other supplies to go through with the murder, and after he had struck Nohema Graber, we then moved her off of the trail, where I then struck her, and she died as a result. After, we removed any evidence that we could."

Prosecutors cited plenty of social media evidence revealing the teens had "conducted surveillance on Ms. Graber, detailed the manner in which she was killed, where her body was located, where the vehicle was located, and how evidence of the crime was disposed of" — evidence later corroborated by officers.

Sentencing

During his sentencing hearing Thursday, which lasted over seven hours, Graber's brother-in-law Jim Graber told Miller, looking him dead in the eyes, "I hope you open your soul to the Lord and maybe ask for forgiveness there first, because you're on a spiral straight to hell," reported the Associated Press.

Nine other relatives of Graber also read or submitted victim impact statements, speaking to the care and devotion she paid her family, students and church.

The New York Post reported that several family members attributed the recent death of Graber's husband to her murder, noting that his resultant depression had prompted him to delay possibly lifesaving cancer treatments.

After hearing from Graber's family, District Judge Shawn Showers recommended a life sentence with the possibility of parole after 35 years.

Miller told the decedent's relatives, "I am sincerely sorry for the distress I have caused you and the devastation I have caused your family," adding, "I’m realizing just the magnitude of my actions, and I know it’s wrong and I knew it was wrong and yet I still carried through."

Goodale's sentencing is scheduled for August.

Five illegal aliens affiliated with MS-13 charged in murder of 15-year-old Maryland boy

Police have arrested five illegal aliens believed to have murdered a 15-year-old Maryland boy.

Limber Lopez Funez of Frederick was first reported missing on Feb. 25. The following day, detectives discovered a crime scene in a wooded area near Orchard Way and determined a serious assault had taken place.

His remains were later discovered on April 24 in Gambrill State Park.

The Frederick Police Department, along with the U.S. Marshals Service and other law enforcement agencies, on May 26 arrested his suspected killers, all of whom are members or associates of MS-13 — a terroristic gang that has exploited the relatively porous southern border during President Joe Biden's tenure.

Alexis Alfredo Ayala Lopez, 21, Jose Roberto Ramos-Lopez, 22, Ismael Ivan Rivera Canales, 20, Ismael Lopez Lopez, 29, and Elmer Bladimir Reyes-Reyes, 28, were all charged with first-degree murder in this case as well as other crimes.

Reyes-Reyes, apprehended in Pennsylvania, is awaiting extradition to Maryland.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that all five suspects were in the U.S. illegally, reported WTTG-TV.

"Since Mr. Lopez Funez was first reported missing back in late February, we have had officers and detectives working tirelessly, investigating this case," said FPD Chief Jason Lando. "Our team spent countless hours following leads and conducting searches all over the county. We were all hoping to find Limber alive and well, but sadly that did not happen."

Lando added, "On behalf of the entire team at FPD, our hearts go out to the victim's family. While we know it will not bring Limber back, we hope the arrests in this case will offer some closure to the Lopez Funez family."

Funez is one among many victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens in recent years.

Already this year, there have been 12 homicide convictions of criminal noncitizens. In 2022 and 2021 there were 62 and 60, respectively — representing a 1,900% increase over the previous year, when only three murders were attributed to illegal aliens. Other criminal convictions for illegal aliens have similarly skyrocketed.

Just Thursday, Chief U.S. District Judge James Bredar sentenced illegal alien and MS-13 gang member Jose Lopez Rivera to 26 years in a federal prison for murdering a man for wearing the wrong shoes in a Wheaton, Maryland, coffee shop.

Roughly 5.5 million illegal aliens have reportedly stolen into the U.S. since Biden took office.

Horowitz: FL man released early after heinous child murder charged with grisly murder of Broward woman

"And you shall not corrupt the land in which you live, for the blood corrupts the land, and the blood which is shed in the land cannot be atoned for except through the blood of the one who shed it." —Numbers 35:33

There's a reason why biblical values dictate an "eye for an eye" in murder cases. It's not just punishment, but deterrent as well. For if you release a murderer, you now have blood on your hands for allowing someone with such a uniquely demonic proclivity to murder again. This is now happening all over the country, with "elderly" murderers being released and going on to murder again. The latest case from Florida demonstrates just how weak our criminal justice system is, even in red states.

In 1995, Eric Pierson was convicted of strangling 17-year-old Kristina Whitaker to death just one year after being released from prison for a prior attempted murder charge. At the time, he only served four and a half years for the attempted murder. Fast-forward 25 years, and Pierson was released again and is now, once again, being charged with murder within a year of release. Police say Pierson confessed to stabbing Erika Verdecia, 33, a single mother, four times with a screwdriver on Sept. 25. He confessed to the murder last month, but he was only charged with first-degree murder last Saturday when Verdecia's body was found in a canal near Sunrise, Broward County.

The obvious question is: How does a man convicted of strangling a girl to death after already having served time for attempted murder get released? Well, he was sentenced to 40 years in 1995, but was released September 2020, after serving just 25 years. This is happening everywhere in the country. The craziest thing is that the first victim could have been saved had Pierson served more time. In 1985, Pierson had broken into a home and slit a woman's throat, but was paroled just four and a half years into his 18-year sentence.

It is true that Florida has since updated its truth-in-sentencing laws and currently requires 85% of the sentence to be served; however, this story underscores the problem with good behavior credits across the board. Let's face it, there aren't too many opportunities for an incarcerated man to have "bad behavior." Good time credits have become a joke – a standard formality that is accorded to every single criminal, no matter how heinous and violent his crime was or his risk of reoffending. There is no reason why any part of the sentence should be diminished for murderers. The entire concept of good time credits needs to be reformed and needs to be applied only for lower-level crimes. This is especially true with sentences getting shorter and shorter up front.

Just like with COVID fascism, Republicans in red states have internalized all of the false arguments of the left regarding criminal justice. They claim there are too many people in the prisons and that they need to release even more criminals. But if that is truly the case, then the answer is to build more prisons and actually get tougher on criminals to deter even more of them. Their argument is akin to someone waiting too long to make a left turn onto a busy street and declaring, "I've waited long enough, I'm just going to make the turn anyway."

A recent study from the Bureau of Justice Statistics (table 14) found that among those murderers released from state prison in 2008 and rearrested within 10 years (a majority of them), they served a median of 10 years and 9 months in prison. In other words, aside from not properly deterring other violent criminals, we are not even locking up murderers for that long, and we are clearly paying the consequences. The answer is to execute those convicted of murder to make room in the prisons for other criminals. It is not to release them.

Yet paroling murderers is the new coolness across the country. As Virginia attorney Hans Bader warns, Virginia state Sen. Joe Morrissey (D) has introduced a bill for next year's legislative session that will retroactively reinstate parole for murderers and make them potentially eligible for release after just 15 years. Virginia has already passed numerous pro-criminal bills, including offering generous parole for juvenile murderers. Even Florida Republicans recently passed a bill calling for sweeping expungement of juvenile criminal records, a bill that Gov. DeSantis felt compelled to veto.

This entire movement began with the de facto shredding of the death penalty. "Well, life without parole is just as good." Then they claimed we needed to release "nonviolent offenders." But then when they discovered the obvious — that most of the prisons are full of high-level, repeat violent offenders — they began releasing murderers too. Eventually, a life sentence will just mean a few years behind bars, and those are just among the few who actually get sentenced to life. Which is why the death penalty was always the best way to deal with murder. There is no parole from the grave, just like there are no second chances for the victims of murder.
