Massachusetts leftists vow to protect illegal aliens from Trump

Leftists in Massachusetts, one of the bluest states in the country, have pledged to protect the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants living there as a second term under President Donald Trump looms on the horizon.

On the campaign trail this year, Trump repeatedly promised to deport en masse many of the millions of illegal aliens who have stolen into the United States during the Biden-Harris administration.

"We're going to have the largest deportation in the history of our country, and we're going to start with Springfield and Aurora," Trump said earlier this year, according to USA Today.

Now that the American people have spoken and voted overwhelmingly to send Trump back into office, Massachusetts liberals claimed they will do all they can so that the commonwealth's 100,000 or so illegal aliens — who have drained untold millions in taxpayer-funded resources for the past four years — can stay where they are.

In response to MSNBC host Lawrence O'Donnell asking her on election night whether the Massachusetts State Police would "assist in mass deportations," Gov. Maura Healey (D) replied, "No, absolutely not."

Healey also told O'Donnell she would fight against any "pressure" exerted on state officials to cooperate in similar efforts.

"Every tool in the toolbox has got to be used to protect our citizens, our residents, and protect our states and certainly to hold the line on democracy and the rule of law as a basic principle," she added.

'Gov. Healey may feel her far-left Democratic base wants this, but this election showed us the vast majority of voters do not.'

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Campbell (D) slammed what she called Trump's "deportation force" and promised to join forces with leaders across the country to stop it, even though polls consistently show that most Americans support deporting illegal aliens rather than granting them a pathway to citizenship.

"We are prepared for every scenario — obviously when he was president before, he led and started with a ban on certain populations and certain constituents," Campbell said, referring to Trump's previous ban on immigrants from some Muslim-majority countries. "We are well aware of that, and AGs came together then to work in partnership to combat that administration."

The City of Cambridge, a sanctuary city and the home of Harvard University, likewise pledged to "protect" all of its residents "regardless of their immigration status."

"As a Sanctuary City, Cambridge affirms the basic human rights and dignity of every human being and provides education, health and other critical services to all residents of Cambridge, regardless of their immigration status," said a statement from city spokesperson Jeremy Warnick.

Cambridge is also committed to "supporting and promoting the safety, health, and well-being of all of its residents," his statement added, according to the Harvard Crimson.

Paul Craney of the Massachusetts Fiscal Alliance claimed that these sentiments about illegal aliens are out of touch with most of the Bay State.

"Governor Maura Healey needs to begin listening to what the voters want instead of telling us what she thinks we should hear," Craney said in a statement to Blaze News. "Illegal immigration and inadmissible migrants are having a big negative impact on taxpayer resources, and the election was fueled in part due to this issue. Gov. Healey may feel her far-left Democratic base wants this, but this election showed us the vast majority of voters do not."

Denver suburbs weigh lawsuit against sanctuary city over immigrant crisis, gang activity

The suburbs around the Denver area are weighing filing a lawsuit against the sanctuary city over the massive uptick in immigrant arrivals that has brought with it an increase in gang activity.

The Castle Rock Town Council recently passed a motion this month instructing the town's attorney to consider a lawsuit against Denver. The city's sanctuary policies have allowed more than 42,000 immigrants to pour into the area while shielding them from federal immigration officials.

'We understand that there is a storm coming.'

The motion was put forth by Castle Rock City Council member Max Brooks, who told KCNC-TV, "This isn't just a decision that Denver gets to make because it's impacting the rest of the Front Range. So the idea is to join with other municipalities and say it's time to stop."

"Our town attorney's office has already had conversations with the county attorney with Douglas County, already had conversations with the city of Aurora, and also had conversations with the city of Parker," Brooks stated, indicating that other municipalities have expressed interest in joining a potential lawsuit.

According to KCNC, Parker and Aurora are also weighing joining the lawsuit.

"I don't want a dime from Denver, I just don't want them to continue to have a policy that is having a negative impact on the Front Range," he continued. "You don't wait until the hurricane is on you to board up your windows and leave town. We understand that there is a storm coming."

Brooks noted that the increase of immigrants arriving in Douglas County has led to "instances of crime."

"This isn't about labeling and saying the migrants need to be deported. It's not about that. It's about stopping and making sure we're not bringing in any more when obviously Denver is not able to handle what's already happened," he added.

Some parts of Aurora have recently been rocked by an increased presence of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, with reports that the violent group has taken over several apartment complexes.

Aurora City Council member Danielle Jurinsky has blamed the gang's activity on Denver's sanctuary policies.

"In the entire Denver metro area, it has been like pulling teeth to get anyone, the media, other elected officials, to get anyone to acknowledge the presence of this trend and to acknowledge that there is even a problem," Jurinsky previously told Fox News Digital.

However, Colorado Gov. Jared Polis (D) has claimed that the TDA's invasion of some apartment complexes is largely a figment of Jurinksy's "imagination."

Earlier this year, several counties filed a lawsuit against Denver, claiming its policies "create dangerous conditions" for Colorado residents and immigrants, Blaze News previously reported. Douglas, El Paso, Elbert, Garfield, Mesa, and Rio Blanco Counties all joined that complaint.

Douglas County Undersheriff Dave Walcher stated at the time, "The mission of all of us is to keep this county safe that is my job to keep Douglas County residents safe and what we've seen over the last several years dating back to 2019 in one of the bills that was discussed is the fact that it limits our ability to work with ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement]."

Cited in the complaint are Colorado House 19-1124 and 23-1100, which the counties called "illegal and unconstitutional" for undermining federal immigration laws and regulations.

The legislation prohibits state law enforcement agents from sharing information regarding illegal immigrants with federal immigration officials.

District 2 Commissioner George Teal previously told KNUS, "We have a laundry list of counties and municipalities across the state who are just aching to join us on this," referring to the lawsuit.

Illegal aliens accused of crimes not banned from taxpayer-funded NYC shelters, deputy mayor admits

New York City Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Anne Williams-Isom recently admitted that the city does not ban illegal immigrants who are accused of crimes from residing at taxpayer-funded shelters.

During a press conference in city hall on Tuesday, Williams-Isom stated that being arrested does not bar someone from shelter accommodations despite the apparent rise in criminal activity at and around city-run shelters, the New York Post reported.

'The public has a right to know.'

“We don’t say that [you] can’t come back into the shelter because you’ve gotten arrested,” Williams-Isom admitted. “I’m sure that there’s a lot of arrests that have come from a lot of different groups that come here, especially groups that might not be able to work.”

“We want to connect people to their community-based organizations so that we can get them connected to work, get them out of shelters,” Williams-Isom continued. “We’ve been really proud that over 150,000 people have made their way out of the shelter so far.”

New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ Chief of Staff Camille Joseph Varlack noted that individuals can be booted from taxpayer-funded shelters if they violate a code of conduct. However, the Post reported that such violations include only incidents that occur inside shelters, while committing illegal activity outside those spaces appears to have no impact on eligibility.

Police sources recently told the Post that in some New York City neighborhoods, such as Midtown Manhattan, approximately 75% of those arrested are illegal immigrants, Blaze News previously reported. The alleged criminals are being detained for a variety of offenses, including assault, robbery, and domestic violence.

An exact number is difficult for law enforcement to identify since the city’s sanctuary policies prevent the New York Police Department from tracking the immigration status of offenders.

A spokesperson for the NYPD told the Post, “Police officers are prohibited from asking about the immigration status of crime victims, witnesses, or suspects, and therefore the NYPD doesn’t track data pertaining to immigration statuses.”

Staten Island Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (R) is attempting to uncover the full extent of criminal offenses committed by illegal immigrants but has accused the Adams administration of “stonewalling” her request for information, the Post reported.

Malliotakis submitted a request for statistics on the number of crimes committed in or around taxpayer-funded illegal immigrant shelters in 2023.

Specifically, her request asked for “statistics as to how many crimes were committed in or within a five-block radius of a City-run migrant shelter.”

“How many arrestees have listed a City-run shelter as their home address and what were their top charges during this same time period,” it stated. “Have you instructed the NYPD to track detailed records of incidents and or offenses involving migrants?”

According to Malliotakis, the NYPD informed her that the request could not be completed until November 15, which is 10 days after the election.

“The public has a right to know,” she said. “Either they’re stonewalling or there are many more crimes being committed by migrants than they can tabulate in a year. That’s ridiculous.”

An NYPD spokesperson told the Post that the department is currently working on the request.

On Tuesday morning, police officers responded to another report of violence at the controversial Randall’s Island shelter, which has become a hotspot for criminal activity. Most recently, Oswaldo Madrid-Verduo, 26, was accused of shoving two security guards and punching one.

During his arrest, he got into a scuffle with responding officers, resulting in one having a bloody nose, police reported.

Just last month, Madrid-Verduo was arrested for allegedly punching a security guard at the shelter, a police source told the Post.

All-male illegal immigrant shelter opens near Christian school, prompting concerns about children's safety

In April, New York City opened an all-male illegal immigrant shelter approximately 800 feet away from a private Christian school in Brooklyn, sparking concerns from local residents about the children's safety.

The Independent Women's Forum spoke with Jeffrey Reed, the principal of City Life Academy, and Irina Edelstein, a mother of three children who attend the school.

'Anytime somebody makes a decision like that in the dark, it's rarely the correct decision to make.'

Reed and Edelstein explained that the city failed to provide them with adequate notice that the 400-bed illegal immigrant shelter would be opening just steps away from the K-12 school. Both expressed concerns about the safety of the children attending the classical Christian school and the secretive way city officials forged ahead with the plan without seeking much input from locals.

Edelstein, a legal immigrant from the former Soviet Union, told IW Features that she learned about the soon-to-be shelter when a resident handed her an informational flyer while she was picking up her children from City Life Academy. Reed noted that he did not discover the city's plans for the shelter until it was already nearly a year in the making.

Edelstein said the city opened the shelter "without notifying the school at all."

"We came back from spring break, the shelter was fully operated," she explained.

"Many of these people who are here legally, they will make a life for themselves, they will be positive, good contributors for this country," Edelstein stated. "However, there is a difference between immigration and invasion."

Reed said the city did not seek community input because officials "knew there would be pushback."

"They knew if they had gone through the correct channels or the proper channels that [it] probably never would've opened," he added. "Anytime somebody makes a decision like that in the dark, it's rarely the correct decision to make."

The school has implemented several safety measures to protect students, including video surveillance and a "system of dads" or "Dad Days," Reed told IW Features.

"I've asked them [parents], 'Can you just come out here while school's going on and just keep an eye down the street?' And what happens is if we do see somebody, just the dad standing there causes the other people to just cross the street and avoid us," Reed said, referring to Dad Days.

Andrea Mew, IWF features manager, told the Daily Caller News Foundation, "Brooklyn sits thousands of miles away from the southern border, and yet, mothers like Irina have been blindsided by an unprecedented border crisis in their own backyards."

"After Irina showed us the fallout of migrant shelters opening within a thousand feet of her children's elementary school and explained the utter lack of transparency from city leaders, we knew it was of utmost importance to document the adverse impacts on her community," Mew added.

The New York City Mayor's Office of Migrant Affairs did not respond to a request for comment from the DCNF.

Illegal alien with felony warrant now suspected of double murder

An illegal alien with an existing felony warrant is now wanted for his alleged connection to a double murder that occurred Friday morning in New York City, the New York Post reported.

Josue Ruben Silva, a 21-year-old Venezuelan national, has only been in the United States for approximately a year, a law enforcement source told the news outlet. Within that time, Silva has already been arrested by the New York Police Department on six occasions for a variety of alleged crimes, including moped heists and larceny.

‘Who says they can’t graduate from stealing sunglasses to a double murder?’

On Friday morning, outside a Bronx apartment building, two individuals were fatally shot. Sources told the Post that an altercation sparked when someone made a comment about a woman, 44, and her boyfriend, 36, confronted the passerby. After a brief dispute, the man left and entered the apartment building. He returned later with a group of friends who were carrying baseball bats, sources told the news outlet.

During the altercation, one of the friends began firing and struck the woman and her boyfriend. Both individuals were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, where they were pronounced dead, authorities stated.

A 21-year-old female was also shot, but she did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.

Silva is now wanted for his alleged participation in the deadly shooting.

In early February, Silva was charged with petty larceny, the Post reported. Later that month, he was reportedly arrested for grand larceny and criminal possession of a loaded gun. He was placed on supervised release. A bench warrant was issued after he skipped out on the case, according to the news outlet.

In April, Silva was arrested yet again, this time for robbery. Sources told the Post that in early May, Silva was charged with possession of stolen property.

A law enforcement source told the Post, “We have no idea who they are, what they’ve done in their own countries, what the plan is for them now that they’re here.”

“Who says they can’t graduate from stealing sunglasses to a double murder?” the source questioned. “But maybe we’re gonna explain all that away too because somebody’s ‘a migrant.’”

“Empathy can’t excuse away a double murder. We have to get our hands around this problem or it’s going to get its hands around us,” the source added.
