Zohran Mamdani: NYC's pimp mayor

My friend and journalist Ben Kawaller went cruising the streets of Manhattan for "sex workers."

To talk to. Just to talk.

You can tell that Mamdani truly believes that sex work is work, because, like actual work, you can’t find any on his resume.

In a video filmed for the New York Post, Ben gets a stripper, an OnlyFans model, and some hookers — see, there’s a spectrum of sex work — on camera to give their thoughts on mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani’s support for the decriminalization of sex work. (Stripping 'round the pole and on screen are already legal, so what we’re really talking about is decriminalizing prostitution.)

The video is worth the watch, but if you don’t have two minutes and 52 seconds to spare, spoiler alert: The sex workers Ben spoke to will be voting for Mamdani.

No Cuomo

I don’t know how many members of the skin trade are registered to vote in the five boroughs or what their johns will do at the polls — like, are you allowed to vote against your dominatrix? — but it doesn’t bode well for Andrew Cuomo’s mayoral campaign.

Cuomo can take off his shoes in every mosque in the city and attempt to publicly shame Mamdani for holding supposedly contradictory fundamental beliefs in Islam and the “fundamental belief that sex work is work,” but I don’t think it’s going to harm Cuomo’s 33-year-old opponent.

When it comes to delivering this message of hypocrisy to the faithful, Cuomo is no Angel Jibrīl. No, Andrew is a heavily flawed politician, who looks like a successful funeral director who decides to open a diner.

Forget the blood he has on his hands from the COVID years. On the issue of sex work, Cuomo is the New York governor who “signed a repeal of a prostitution loitering law,” which made it easier for streetwalkers to set up shop on the corner than hotdog vendors.

What’s ironic is that while Cuomo never paid with money for his scandals of inappropriate touching, he paid big-time with his career. And unfortunately, New Yorkers are going to pay an even bigger price when their city is under the control of Mamdani, the comically “African-American" chic communist who wants to seize the means of production and pimp the most productive members of society like cheap whores.

Collectivist 'em all

I’m not the one to make an argument for or against sex work, but I am the one to imagine Mamdani’s future New York City, where sex work is legalized and his collectivist policies are written into law.

Let’s be honest: The goal of decriminalization is eventual legalization — just like the goal of socialism is communism. Mamdani might call himself a Democratic Socialist on "The View" — and the ladies are dumb enough to fall for the rebranding — but we all know that Democratic Socialism is simply socialism on Lupron.

You can tell that Mamdani truly believes that sex work is work, because, like actual work, you can’t find any on his resume. Now while I don’t see him joining any brothel co-ops, decriminalization will lead to more taxpayers for the government to squeeze, and thanks to the world’s oldest profession, no one will have an excuse to be unemployed. If you have a body — in whatever condition it’s in — no doubt there’s a freaky customer out there for you.

But with all the new sex workers, competition will be tight (or loose?), so I see sex work becoming yet another genital in the gig economy. In addition to migrants zipping down avenues on e-bikes for UberEats, you’ll now have them delivering flesh takeout against traffic. Just think what this will mean for congestion pricing!

Breast equity

But the expanded tax base could help fund Mamdani’s promise to provide $65 million in funding for gender-affirming care. That means prostitutes of all gender identities can get the bodies they need to better serve the public. But to maintain NYC's breast equity, top surgeries and breast implants will have to balance out.

Phasing out the city’s gifted-and-talented programs in government schools is going to hurt public education, and replacing the school-to-prison pipeline with a school-to-whorehouse pipeline is going to make for some awkward conversations between educators and students.

Imagine being a high-school guidance counselor having to break the news to a student, “You don’t have the grades for college or the work ethic for trade school — but there’s always the corner.”

The barriers to entry are low to nonexistent in sex work. For now. But when the state seizes the means of reproduction, licensing will ultimately follow, and in order to combat corporate greed, there will need to be price controls. Your body, your choice — except when it comes to price-gouging.

Laid off

Until Mamdani decommodifies housing, you’ll be able to exchange sex for rent, right? But the specifics will have to be ironed out to protect tenants’ rights. No one wants to be evicted from their home because a landlord snuck a kissing clause into the lease.

The first time I heard “sex work is work” was in a sex-and-gender studies class I took as an undergrad at NYU. Supporting sex work between consenting adults has been the hip stance to take. But any time I offered minimum wage to a date sympathetic to the cause, she’d get offended. Even though I agreed to pay for the full hour — even if I didn’t use it all.

I also learned that marriage is a form of sex work — which I didn't stop believing until I actually got married. In short: There are so many things I put up with with my wife that I would never put up with a ho. Neither a pimp nor a john I be. Plus, no guy has ever thought, “I really want to get this hooker pregnant!”

My family and I no longer live in New York, but I come in often to work. It’s an expensive commute, and I may need to take on a side hustle to afford it. As the saying Karl Marx popularized goes, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.”

If sex work is work, then the same applies. And under Mayor Mamdani, everyone is f**ked.

Video: Prostitutes solicit sex right outside Catholic elementary school, police handcuffed after California Democrats passed law to protect transgender sex workers

Parents of children are up in arms that prostitutes are soliciting sex work right outside a California elementary school. Some are saying that a law passed by California Democrats has handcuffed law enforcement in cracking down on sex workers selling their bodies in broad daylight.

KGO-TV conducted an investigation about prostitutes working outside St. Anthony's elementary school in East Oakland. The San Francisco-based news station captured video of sex workers dressed in minimal clothes and stiletto heels walking the streets near the Catholic school to sell their bodies in the middle of the day with students nearby.

KGO-TV reported, "The I-Team captured videos along E. 15th Street outside the school gate on four different dates over the past couple weeks showing young women wearing barely any clothing walking along the school sidewalk, the street corners, or directly across from the school. All of the videos were captured as children were being dropped off or walked into school."

Concerned parent Rosa Vargas told KGO-TV said she sees prostitutes near the Catholic school "every day, during all periods of the day."

Vargas said the sex workers solicit sex so close to the elementary school that they recently "were blocking the entrance of the parking structure" of the school.

"My daughter asked if I liked what the girl was wearing," Vargas said. "I told her don't turn around, don't look. It's not OK."

Speaking about pimps near the school, Vargas said, "They've followed me a couple times."

Oakland City Councilman Noel Gallo noted that he is receiving complaints about prostitutes every week.

Gallo stated, "I get the call saying, 'Mr. Gallo I can't get into my home because the pimp is blocking my driveway.' It's constant."

Gallo said he has seen up to 20 scantily-clad women walking up and down the street, appearing to engage in prostitution. He revealed that some of the girls are as young as 15 years old.

City officials believe some of the women are victims of human trafficking.

Some believe that recent construction along a busy highway caused the sex workers to migrate to residential neighborhoods.

St. Anthony's has requested more police patrols in the area.

However, St. Anthony's pastor Ghebriel Woldai said, "It's not enough. They promised us they will do more presence here."

Woldai said the parish had requested more patrols from the Oakland Police Department for years, but to no avail.

Rodney Pierre-Antoine – who oversees seven Catholic elementary schools, including St. Anthony's – said the hands of the police "are somewhat handcuffed."

Pierre-Antoine is referencing Senate Bill 357, known as the Safer Streets for All Act.

SB 357 states:

Existing law prohibits soliciting or engaging in an act of prostitution, as specified. Existing law also prohibits loitering in a public place with the intent to commit prostitution, as defined, or directing, supervising, recruiting, or aiding a person who is loitering with the intent to commit prostitution, or collecting or receiving all or part of the proceeds of an act of prostitution. Under existing law, a violation of any of these provisions is a misdemeanor. This bill would repeal those provisions related to loitering with the intent to commit prostitution and would make other conforming changes.

Fatima Shabazz of DecrimSexWork CA Coalition – a "coalition of current and former sex workers, organizers, and allies" – said of the bill, "SB 357 repeals a Jim Crow law that criminalized black and trans people in public spaces."

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed SB 357 into law in July, and it went into effect on Jan. 1.

Police officers told KGO-TV that the new law is prohibiting them from rescuing women who they believe are victims of human trafficking.

California State Sen. Scott Wiener – a Democrat who introduced SB 357 – defends the bill.

Wiener argued, "It allowed police officers to arrest a person, not based on what they did, but based solely on how a person looks. So an officer could arrest someone because they were wearing tight clothing, high heels, and extra lipstick."

Wiener's office said, "This criminal provision — arrests for which are based on an officer’s subjective perception of whether a person is 'acting like' or 'looks like' they intend to engage in sex work — results in the disproportionate criminalization of trans, black and brown women, and perpetuates violence toward sex workers."

Wiener conceded, "That footage is very troubling. We don't want sex work and solicitation happening by schools, it's not acceptable for the children and the neighbors."

Wiener said police officers who said they were handcuffed by the new law were "dead wrong," and utilizing a "copout." He alleged that the issue has been around longer than the new law.

He advised police to arrest the pimps and johns.

Oakland officials promise to increase police patrols and install new cameras after the eye-opening report was published.

OnlyFans Is Exploitive, But Not In The Way Elites And Prostitutes Claim

OnlyFans gets negative treatment when pornographers are exploited, which stops short of conceding those dangers are inevitable byproducts of 'sex work' and a culture that normalizes it.

Wisconsin Democrat received rental income from massage parlor that advertised on illicit websites

A Democratic congressman from Wisconsin reportedly made thousands of dollars by renting a property to a massage parlor that advertised on websites that list spas where illicit sexual services are sold.

Financial disclosures from Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.) show he earned between $15,001 and $50,000 in rental income from a building he rented in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in 2018 and 2019, Fox News reported.

One of the tenants at Kind's property, Asian Sunny Massage, previously known as Impression Spa, reportedly advertised on several illicit websites that direct prospective clients to places where they can illegally buy sexual services.

One such website called RubMaps has previously been described as a "Yelp for sex spas," or brothels that pose as massage parlors and have been linked to human trafficking and sex slavery.

Fox News reported:

Impression Spa first opened in April 2018 and an ad appeared on BodyRubsMap on its opening day. BodyRubsMap has advertised itself as the "best alternative to Backpage," a now-seized website known as "the largest online U.S. marketplace for sex trafficking."

AssortList is a website similar to Craigslist and Backpage, with categories including dating and massages, but also "adult" services including phone sex, escorts, strippers and strip clubs.

While the website did not list "massages" under the "dating" or "adult" categories, the advertisements posted by Impression Spa were placed under the "Women > Men" subsection of dating.

Fox News linked to several Facebook posts from Impression Spa posted in 2019 that included screenshots from advertisements on AssortList featuring suggestive photos of women and the spa's contact information.

Some of the comments on these Facebook posts complained that there were "no professional boundaries to the clients" at the alleged massage parlor. Another comment complained that his "actual massage was terrible" and said the owner of the establishment told him, "no money no honey."

In a statement to Fox News, the owner of Asian Sunny Massage, Jie Yang, denied that the parlor performed any other service besides providing massages.

Yang claimed that her business only advertises on Google. When confronted with screenshots from the illicit websites, Yang said her "manager" was responsible for advertising but refused to let Fox News speak to the manager, saying they would only speak with police.

Rep. Kind declined to comment to Fox News on the story.

Kind has represented Wisconsin's 3rd Congressional District in the U.S. House since 1997, though in recent years the district has swung rightward. In the 2016 presidential election, the district went for Donald Trump, who received 49% of the vote to Hillary Clinton's 45%. Former President Trump also won the district in the 2020 election, expanding his share of the vote to 51.5%. Kind won re-election in 2020, narrowly defeating his Republican challenger Derrick Van Orden 51.3% to 48.6%.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tries to legitimize, promote prostitution: 'Sex work is work'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) tried to legitimize prostitution in a Tuesday tweet, referring to "sex work" as real "work."

What are the details?

Ocasio-Cortez was referring to a Rolling Stone story that accused the New York Post of shaming a 23-year-old paramedic who began virtually selling herself online to paid subscribers.

Copying the article, the New York congresswoman wrote, "Sex work is work. The federal gov has done almost nothing to help people in months. We must pass stimulus checks, UI, small biz relief, hospital funding, etc."

"Keep the focus of shame there, not on marginalizing people surviving a pandemic without help," she added.

She wasn't the only one who advocated for the change: Eliza Orlins, Manhattan, New York, district attorney candidate chimed in and added her praise to the chorus.

Orlins responded to Ocasio-Cortez's tweet, writing, "Thank you so much for saying this. Sex work is work. Furthermore, we must fully decriminalize sex work. No exceptions."

What else?

In 2019, Fox News reported that Ocasio-Cortez announced her advocacy for decriminalizing prostitution alongside Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) in endorsing the SAFE SEX Workers Study Act.

"The SAFE SEX Workers Study Act, sponsored by Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., would study the effects of two anti-sex trafficking bills — the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act and the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act [SESTA/FOSTA] — that became law last year," Fox News reported at the time. "Opponents say the new law makes consensual sex work more difficult. According to Khanna's office, the law has forced sex workers off of online platforms and into more dangerous situations."

In a press release, Khanna said, "Sex workers have relied on such internet platforms to screen clients and negotiate boundaries for consensual, transactional sex services, including condom use and other harm reduction strategies. ... While SESTA/FOSTA was intended to curb online sex trafficking, by banning the 'promotion of prostitution,' a host of internet platforms relied on by sex workers have shut down."

ACLU: Decriminalization of ‘Sex Work’ Would Provide Greater Equality to ‘Trans Women of Color’

The ACLU is promoting its campaign calling for the decriminalization of “sex work” in order to destigmatize it and, particularly, to provide “greater equality” for “trans women of color.”
