Antifa militants have their way with Portland cops, throwing snowballs at their backs before officers finally take cover in bureau

Video shows a crowd of Antifa militants outnumbering a pair of Portland police officers who then apparently decide they don't want to stick around and talk about the snowy weather.

The clip then shows the cops walking quickly down a sidewalk as the militants repeatedly holler "Quit your jobs!" and actually throw snowballs and kick snow at the officers.

Soon the officers arrive at the city of Portland Police Bureau where a door opens for them, and the cops retreat from the indignity, the door closes, and the militants celebrate getting away with it:

What was the reaction?

Commenters reacting to the Twitter video posted early Saturday morning seemed decidedly disgusted at the continued lack of respect for police — and especially the danger that such demonstrations of disrespect without consequences can embolden others:

  • "I'm surprised the police don't just quit, then maybe the powers that be will realize that law and order must be upheld!" one commenter declared. "I just find it so unbelievable that this behavior is allowed to continue!"
  • "What a bunch of f***ing oxygen thieves," another user said, noting "they deliberately taunt and harass the police, all while holding cameras, in the hope that one of the officers reacts to the abuse ... so they can then use the footage to support their police brutality narrative."
  • "Damn this pisses me the F#$* off....!" another commenter wrote. "Why the hell are they not arresting these stupid, moronic assholes for assault? This is why this country is so damn screwed up....!"
  • "These same kids would cry murder if these cops came to their workplace threw snowballs at them and shouted 'quit your job,'" another user said.
  • "Time for the mayor and officers to show some force already," another commenter opined. "This is difficult to watch."

Anything else?

Cops have been subject to this kind of humiliating abuse for some time. As politicians and police officials began tying officers' hands in fear of brutality accusations, cop haters seemed to test the waters — and lo and behold discovered they could carry out abusive behavior upon police without retaliation.

Of course, it escalated around the country after the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis last May, but readers of TheBlaze no doubt recall a similar scene in New York City a couple of years ago when water was tossed and dumped on a pair of NYPD officers who simply walked away:

Oh, and do you remember what happened to the reputed gangbanger arrested in connection with the water-dumping incident — who also was on probation and had been busted over 20 times?

His punishment was 10 days of community service.

Assault suspect wanted after cops spar with violent militants at homeless encampment. Video appears to show police being abused at will.

Police in Bellingham, Washington, said Monday they're looking for an assault suspect in connection with a mass standoff at a City Hall tent encampment late last month, KGMI-AM reported.

Police also released bodycam video of the standoff, which shows the suspect shouting at and attempting to spit at officers, the station said. She appears to show up — her eyes covered by goggles and her head covered — just after the 2-minute mark.

"You f***ing disgust me!" she yelled before spitting at cops:

A larger male ally soon led her away as she continued to scream, "Lemme at 'em! Lemme at 'em!"

Oh, but this individual appeared to be far from the only troublemaker. The video shows police being abused pretty much at will by the militant leftists.

What else?

In one scene another woman appears to spit at officers:

Then she appears to do it a second time. In the second spitting photo, she appears to be accompanied by the suspect police are after — who this time is dressed in purple:

And at one point a cop firmly told a green-haired woman to 'stop!' after she continually rammed into him. Her comrades just laughed at the order.

During most of the 10-minute video, leftists — besides the spitting — attempted to keep police from advancing on the encampment and consistently push, hit, threaten, and taunt them.

What's the background?

Bellingham officials ordered the removal of the homeless encampment ahead of schedule Jan. 28 after reports of possible violence by "outside agitators" from Portland and other cities.

Officials said public workers were being harassed and that the growing encampment was engulfing the city buildings.

Bellingham Police Department Chief Flo Simon said there were as many as 100 tents in the encampment on city property. Police had responded to calls in relation to the encampment in recent weeks that involved attacks with a baseball bat, a hatchet, and sticks. Simon also said a propane tank ignited a fire at the site.

Several arrests were made amid the skirmishes, and there were reports of some assaulted officers.

Horowitz: America’s most violent year

We have domestic terrorism in this country, all right. It's just that it emanates almost exclusively from the left and violent career criminals. When will our focus shift to those people? And if not, what's the purpose of having law enforcement other than to empower a tyrannical government?

Every last person involved in the Capitol riot will be brought to justice … and then some. But when will the people responsible for the most violent year be brought to justice?

It's not just the widespread arson, looting, vandalism, and blocking of roads we continue to see from Antifa and Black Lives Matter even now, into 2021. It's the widespread effects of the lawlessness and deterrent against policing (rather than against criminals) that has led to the sharpest one-year increase in crime in recent history.

Earlier this week, Manhattan Institute scholar Heather Mac Donald penned an op-ed in the Wall Street Journal revealing some startling crime statistics from 2020:

  • "Murder was up nearly 37% in a sample of 57 large and medium-size cities." Some cities experienced sharper increases: 95% in Milwaukee, 78% in Louisville, Ky., 74% in Seattle, 72% in Minneapolis, 62% in New Orleans, and 58% in Atlanta, for example.
  • In total, at least 2,000 more Americans were killed in 2020 than in 2019.
  • This year, we witnessed brazen attacks on black children through gang warfare and drive-by shootings. "Fifty-five children were killed in Chicago in 2020, 17 in St. Louis, and 11 in Philadelphia. In South Los Angeles alone, 40 children were shot, some non-lethally, through September."

Mac Donald points out that most media figures and politicians blame the spike in violence on the stress of the pandemic. To the extent that this is not an indictment of their lockdown policies, Mac Donald observes the obvious fact that crime actually fell for the first few months of the pandemic and only rose at the end of May with the rise of BLM, the rioting, and the attacks on police.

It's not just the war on cops, but the war on incarceration. Virginia Democrats, for example, are debating SB 1370, a bill that will enable judges to retroactively shorten life sentences for some of the state's worst murderers. Many county jails have been emptied of their criminals thanks to endless rounds of de-incarceration "reforms." It's taking its toll on the streets.

The tragic irony is that as politicians abolish bail, shorten sentences, and drop prosecution of career violent criminals or rioters, the entire force of the federal law enforcement apparatus and some state law enforcements are being harnessed against conservative activists and Trump supporters, even those who did not engage in violence at the Capitol. Thus, we are now confronted with even more street violence as law enforcement stands down against the mayhem staring them in the face and leaves no stone unturned in persecuting Trump supporters.

In lower Manhattan this week, a flash mob ruthlessly beat a man on the street, leaving him bloodied and naked. Do you think for a minute those "youths" will be brought to justice? Do you think law enforcement will use technology to track down and prosecute even those who were in the vicinity of the attack, like they are doing with Capitol Hill?

The reality is that politicians only protect their own. You can beat civilians and destroy private property, because those are not sacred to our government. Then again, even public property, if demolished by the left, is not that sacred. The man who pleaded guilty to burning down the third precinct police station of the Minneapolis PD last May faces, at most, four years in prison before the early release programs likely trim the sentence down further. Hundreds of people were involved in the burning, but no more than four perpetrators will be charged at all. I'm sure the man caught moving Nancy Pelosi's lectern in the Capitol will serve more time in federal prison.

As the media and government obsessively focus on "right-wing terrorism," it's not like the violence they are ignoring is ancient history. It's still happening. The violence in 2021 looks to be getting even worse. Shootings in south Los Angeles are up 742%. Eleven people have already been killed in Oakland, as compared to just one at the same date in 2020. Antifa continues to riot and block streets with impunity in places like Tacoma, Seattle, and Portland every single day. There is no safety net or backstop to the lawlessness as the entire law enforcement apparatus of the federal government trains its fire on Trump supporters.

Which raises the uncomfortable question: Should conservatives join with the left and support abolishing the police, at least the urban police departments (as opposed to rural sheriffs)? Throw in the FBI and the federal law enforcement agencies while we're are at it. If ordered liberty is no longer an option on the menu because the government refuses to do its core job and deter crime and violence, why should we have law enforcement around to be used as a blunt instrument against us and as an enforcement for tyranny? Why should we have law enforcement standing at the ready to arrest single moms like Larvita McFarquhar for opening her restaurant in Minnesota as violence pervades the streets of their cities uncontrollably?

What good is law enforcement if the only time they are effective is in enforcing COVID fascism, hampering us from defending ourselves against Antifa, clamping down on the First Amendment, and generally empowering despotic regimes to supplant our Constitution? I'd rather suffer from plain anarchy than a dystopian mix of anarchy for the fringe left and tyranny for the rest of us.

Seattle community leader blasts Antifa 'fools' who are 'nightly destroying our city' and elected officials who keep ignoring leftist anarchy

As Antifa violence continues to boil over in Seattle — and elected officials continue to treat the anarchy with kid gloves — some community leaders have had enough.

What are the details?

The city's streets and businesses on Wednesday once again fell victim to the so-called anti-fascists — black-clad militants who have often been hailed by the left as heroes even though they regularly attack everyday people and small businesses and anyone else who defies them or gets in their way.

The next day, in the wake of more shattered glass and tagged buildings, several community activists criticized City Hall's response, KOMO-TV reported — although "lack of response" would appear to be more apt description.

"Very weak. Very weak," community organizer Victoria Beach told the station regarding the reaction from far-left Mayor Jenny Durkan and city council members. "It's not addressing the problem. I reached out to the mayor today ... she needs to come out and say, 'Stop! Enough is enough!'"

KOMO tried talking to Durkan to no avail — but did say her spokesperson offered an statement that read in part, "Violent threats, vandalism, and misogynistic and homophobic hate speech are unacceptable in our community. Mayor Durkan has consistently denounced individuals who are targeting small businesses and government facilities."

Beach told KOMO that's not a sufficient response.

"We are not talking about all that other stuff," she told the station. "We are talking about these fools [who are] nightly destroying our city. That's what we want to hear about."

More from KOMO:

City Councilman Andrew Lewis also declined to speak on camera to KOMO News about the protests but said in an email statement that "property destruction is a crime, not free speech. Last night a small group of people committed acts of vandalism in Downtown Seattle and were promptly arrested. It has never been hard for me to distinguish between acts of petty vandalism committed by opportunists."

City Councilwoman Lisa Herbold also did not answer questions from KOMO News, but sent a written statement saying: "I have spoken out against property destruction and violent behavior and will continue to do so."

"To me, it's a complete mystery why we're not having more response," Stephanie Tschida of the East Precinct Advisory Council told the station, adding that elected officials should be holding news conferences denouncing the destruction the strengthen the reach of the message. "Because a lot of people seem to have become apathetic."

The station added that neither the mayor nor council members posted their statements to KOMO on their social media platforms — and other council members didn't respond to KOMO's requests for comment about the issue.

Left-wing thugs punch, scream at left-wing Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler during restaurant dinner

It should come as no surprise to anyone paying the slightest bit of attention to the daily nightmare that is Portland, Oregon, that its left-wing Mayor Ted Wheeler isn't left-wing enough for violent leftists who roam the streets looking for their pound of flesh.

What's the background?

You may recall that Wheeler tried chatting with leftist rioters back in July after they'd been burning down his city night after night — and they proceeded to shred him to bits. As Wheeler walked into the crowds for what he deemed a "listening session," some threw objects toward him while others called for his resignation, chanting, "Tear Gas Teddy," the New York Times said.

He was booed, he was cursed out, he was shouted down, he was harassed. "F*** Ted Wheeler!" one leftist shouted out before adding that the mayor is a "f***ing fascist!"

Now what?

Fast-forward to what apparently had been a peaceful dinner for Wheeler and a companion Wednesday night at Cafe Nell's outdoor dining area.

Well, as the mainstream media enjoys saying, it was mostly peaceful.

See, some folks started yelling obscenities at Wheeler from outside the tent, mayoral spokesman Jim Middaugh told the Oregonian in a statement. And soon the thugs eventually "pushed their way past restaurant employees" and confronted the mayor, Middaugh told the paper.

But after Wheeler asked the group to leave, "one member of the group started swatting at the mayor and made physical contact with him," Middaugh added to the Oregonian.

More from the paper:

The reported contact was not captured on video footage posted to Twitter, though Wheeler can be heard claiming someone assaulted him. He wasn't hurt.

At one point in a different video clip, Wheeler repeatedly asks a person behind the camera how old they are — and tells them to grow up.

"You are going to be made to feel like the scum you are," the person later yelled at Wheeler.

Restaurant staff eventually persuaded the group to leave, Middaugh said.

Eater noted that "Tevis" is Wheeler's middle name.

Police told the Oregonian that no one has been arrested and authorities are investigating the incident.

"Given the tenor of political discourse nationally and locally, it's not unusual for people to confront the mayor and other elected officials in public. It's part of the job," Middaugh added to the outlet. "The mayor will continue to support local restaurants and businesses as often as he can. He urges others to do the same."

Militant leftists arrested after New Year's Eve rioting in Minneapolis, vandalism of federal buildings in Philadelphia

Left-wing militants in Minneapolis and Philadelphia apparently decided they'd ring in the new year not with horns and high-fives but rather with knives, mace, Molotov cocktails, and bricks in order to spread their messages of peace, love, and acceptance.

What are the details?

In Minneapolis, five people were charged Monday with second-degree riot-armed with a dangerous weapon, a felony, KARE-TV reported. They are Jordan Abhold, 26, Nelson Mendez, 31, Thomas Moseley, 29, Marc Holley, 32, and Laura Galaviz, 29, the station said, citing the Hennepin County Attorney's Office.

KARE said the arrests occurred one night after a man was shot and killed during a shootout with Minneapolis police.

More from the station:

According to the criminal complaint, Minneapolis police noticed social media posts telling people to gather at 11 p.m. that night at Park Avenue and Fourth Street in downtown Minneapolis. The posts said to wear black and "mask up," according to the complaint. The posts also made threats of property damage, including "BURN THE PRECINCTS & THE PRISONS!"

The complaint says about 75 people gathered at Commons Park chanting and marching on the sidewalks and roads, disrupting traffic and the light rail trains. The march continued to the Hennepin County Juvenile Justice Center and the Juvenile Detention Center on Park Avenue, according to the complaint.

Police also saw members of the group shooting fireworks toward motorists and spray-painting graffiti on buildings, including the detention center and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office, the complaint states.

According to the complaint, less than 45 minutes after the group arrived at the park, officers were ordered to move in and detain as many of the people as possible. While many scattered, the complaint says officers arrested about 35 of them.

During the arrests, the complaint say officers recovered knives, mace, improvised spike balls, fireworks, gas masks, a taser, body armor and helmets. Five of the people arrested were charged with the felony riot charge.

Abhold was carrying a loaded .38 special revolver — which he had a permit to carry — two speed loaders with ammunition, and a device that appeared to be scanning police radio communication, KARE said, citing the complaint. Moseley was carrying a knife and already had been charged with felony damage to property at the Minneapolis Fifth Precinct police station and possession of a dangerous weapon in a courthouse, the station said, citing the complaint. Prosecutors are seeking $100,000 bail for both of them. KARE said, citing the attorney's office.

The station added that Holley was carrying a knife, a gas mask, zip ties, body armor, and a two-way radio, according to the complaint, Mendez had fireworks, a green laser, a taser, and a gas mask, and Galaviz was carrying two knives. Prosecutors are seeking $20,000 bail for the trio, KARE said.

All five were expected to make their first court appearances Tuesday, the station said, citing the attorney's office.

WXTF-TV identified the arrestees in the above photos as (top row, from left) Adam McVicker, Meredith Tooker, Dustin Callahan, Sydney Miller, and (bottom row) Allison Donohue, Jacob Robotin, Josey Augustine.

What are the details?

Officers spotted about 50 people — all dressed in black — at the historic U.S. Customs House around 8:30 p.m. where windows were smashed, police told the AP. Four arrests were made there, the outlet said, and three other suspects were arrested elsewhere.

Vandals then scrawled anti-police and anti-prison graffiti on the Federal Detention Center, police told the AP, adding that a nearby sheriff's van was defaced and had several windows broken.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Mike Cram said "numerous Molotov cocktails and some other devices which haven't been identified" were recovered, the outlet reported.

McVicker, 25, is accused of throwing a brick and is charged with criminal mischief and related counts, as are Callahan, 24, Donohue, 23, and Augustine, 31, the AP said, adding that Robotin, 25, Miller, 22, and Tooker, 26, are charged with attempted arson and risking a catastrophe, as well was other counts that include conspiracy.

Robotin was carrying a glass jar with a fuse that had "a strong flammable odor," as well as a plastic container with white powder labeled "Fire Starter," police told the AP, adding that Miller had bottles with liquids that had "a chemical smell."

Leftist militants have stockpiled weapons, spike strips, armed guards at Portland autonomous zone

Leftist militants on their third day of occupying several residential blocks in Portland, Oregon, over a foreclosed house have stockpiled weapons, homemade spike strips, and armed guards at the entrances of their autonomous zone.

But the city's police chief said cops will use force if necessary to end the occupation.

What's the background?

The autonomous zone was set up Tuesday — the same day leftists militants were caught on video chasing Portland police away from the foreclosed house. In fact, they kicked and threw rocks at retreating police vehicles and ran up on cops and appeared to try to steal their equipment while taunting and threatening them as they literally chased officers down a street.

"We ain't f***in' around!" one militant was heard yelling at cops while another leftist declared, "I'll knock you the f*** out, bitch!"

What did the police have to say?

"I certainly am respectful of the issue that people are there to address, but blocking streets and chasing police officers out of the neighborhood is still not OK and really contrary to our values as Portlanders," Deputy Police Chief Chris Davis told the Oregonian Tuesday evening.

Davis added that police "have to be thoughtful about" the situation and go about it "in the right way" and "consider all the angles and do our best to resolve the situation as safely as possible," the paper reported.

But Police Chief Chuck Lovell struck a different tone in a video message, saying he's aware of the leftists' weapons and threats they're making — and that officers will use force to end the occupation if necessary:

Lovell added in another Twitter post that police also are aware of "armed sentries, attacks on journalists & threats to kill officers in graffiti in this public space."

Leftist militants bully, physically attack Portland TV news reporter, videographer who dared to enter their 'autonomous zone'

A gang of militant leftists were caught on video descending upon a Portland TV news reporter and videographer who dared to enter their "autonomous zone" — and they proceeded to bully, physically attack, and force out the news team.

What's the background?

The "autonomous zone" was set up the same day leftists militants were caught on video chasing Portland police away from the foreclosed house. What happened to the journalists?

With that, reporter Genevieve Reaume and videographer Ric Peavyhouse — both with KATU-TV News — on Tuesday walked past barricades set up around the foreclosed house on North Mississippi Avenue in an attempt to interview occupiers.

And that's when trouble immediately began for them.

"Film crew coming through," a leftist female was heard yelling to her comrades. "They're not our friends!"

As black umbrellas popped up and converged in front of Reaume and Peavyhouse, another militant barked, "Just get outta here, man!"

Soon Peavyhouse's video caught audio of Reaume screaming at the leftists to get away from her — and in fact, they knocked her cellphone from her hand and bloodied her finger.

Here's what Reaume's cellphone documented:

"That's some cold s***t!" one person can be heard saying after the attack.

As the pair were forced to walk out the autonomous zone, one of the militants can be heard threatening the Peavyhouse: "I'll break your f***in' camera, you realize that!"

The same leftist is heard adding, "Touch me one more time and see what happens to your f***in' camera!"

Portland police officers apparently were no match for a violent leftist mob Tuesday, the members of which didn't like that cops were enforcing a home foreclosure.

How did this all unfold?

Early in the morning, police were trying to protect the perimeter of the foreclosed home so new owners could erect a fence, but the Oregonian said the size of the opposing crowd swelled — and officers were "struck by projectiles such as rocks and paint-filled balloons."

Cops made seven arrests, the paper said, and officers found one person with a gun as well as other guns on the property. But when police departed, the mob simply pulled down the fence and re-entered the property, the Oregonian said.

Police returned — and then more serious problems developed, the paper said:

The crowd swelled to about 200 people, and violent clashes ensued. Law enforcement ultimately retreated as police vehicles were damaged, including at least one window smashed. Protesters threw rocks at officers and one sprayed a fire extinguisher at them, prompting an officer to deploy an impact munition.

One police vehicle hit a parked car while trying to leave.

As it turns out, squads of Rapid Response Team officers assigned to the location departed — partly to avoid overtime spending — once contractors completed their work around the property, the paper said, adding that a much smaller group of officers who relieved them were "overrun by the large crowd after which police made a swift retreat."
